It's a little sad. I was here at the very beginning on Grand Opening 11-11-21 and here pretty much at the end, 2-01-26. The high tech Amazon model didn't really work in the competitive grocery business and all IL Amazon Fresh stores will close on 2-01-26. Today, 1-30-26, it was a madhouse with stuff marked down 50% or more and the checkout line literally wrapped around the entire store! Definitely not worth shopping, but it was a most interesting scene to observe. Best of luck to all the staffers here with whom we always had good interactions with over the past 4+ years. read more

I really do not understand why the ratings for this grocery store are so bad. An average of 2.8 stars does not represent this facility. Everytime you step into the store, you are greeted by an employee. There are so many weekly deals that are so much cheaper and high quality goods compared to other grocery stores. One time I went in and bought some ground chicken. I opened it to cook and it had gone bad. Instead of having to go back to the store, all I had to do is access my purchase via the Amazon app. I was able to get a refund and didn't even have to bring back the meat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's also very peaceful shopping there as there isn't hustle and bustle of other grocery stores.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Could their pricing be cheaper? I read the news that Amazon Fresh will be closing some locations so I am writing this review in the hope that they do not close this one. Highlights... Service: Always top notch. Happy enthusiastic greeting when you enter, super helpful. I don't use the auto charge cart so I can't comment on that but I am a Prime member & they typically offer 10% to 20% for anything you return from Amazon here. Food Must Buys: Love the almond milk, Amazon brand. I simply love it. It's not watered down like some brands & it's less than $2.50 each. The ingredients list is clean too. The bakery is great. Love the cheesecakes, donuts & pies. Good pricing. It doesn't taste like the low quality Jewel ones & taste like the Wholefoods ones. They use quality ingredients to make it. Rotisserie chicken, under $6 is delicious & so is the Hot Foods at $7.99 a pound. They used to make the best samosas but it appears to be discontinued. Carnitas are also very good. The clam chowder is also good. I have noticed that the $1.79 large pizza slice or $10 for the whole pizza is very popular with shoppers. I have tried it twice & unfortunately I cannot rate it highly. It's just ok. I also love the frozen shrimp & organic turkey for quick convient cooking. Also love getting the frozen organic blueberries & strawberries for smoothies. If you're a Prime member & like to stroll around stores with no plan in mind, Amazon Fresh is for you. The prices here for some of the most random items are actually ridiculous. $3 for dog food? $1.25 for a pack of ziplock brand bags? Protein bars for 50cents each? The concept is cool - you sign in with your Prime membership, and scan the items as you place them in your cart. No need to wait in a line to purchase because it'll charge your Amazon account. For actual grocery shopping I can see how they can be pricey, because most of the deals I came across were quite random and items I wasn't planning on purchasing until I came across them. The store is a great place for your Amazon returns, and it's nice to get a coupon for doing so to encourage you to shop in the store afterwards. Holy canols! First timer here and been avoiding the hype for a while. I could be incorrect but it SEEMS to be only food here, although I'm pretty sure I passed a pharmaceutical aisle (but couldn't find it again?) Having an Amazon account, you scan a QR code to get in and a QR code to get out. There are cameras EVERYWHERE and you're constantly being watched. You don't even have to scan the item you purchased because the cameras know what you took off the shelf. Good luck to anyone who attempts to 5 finger discount because it's real "Minority Report" vibes. It's the cleanest and most organized store/location I've been to. I only go here to return items on Amazon. For people who are engaged shoppers who prefer to talk to others and staff, seems like a certain time of day would be best to shop there. Staff at the Amazon returns counter are knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately, this store is in the habit of selling expired food to it's curbside pickup customers. I've found that it happens way too often. I get the refund when I go online and point it out, but that doesn't cover the inconvenience of not being able to use the item for what I purchased it for. I guess they figure they can off load the expired or expiring food to customers who aren't going to see it (if they even check) until they get it home. Selling expired food is illegal. Perhaps the Chicago Health Department needs to be alerted to this practice. read more

Good food options here and occasional good deals. The pizza was great for the first couple of weeks but now the ingredients appear to be carefully measured. But what I like most are the coupons that you give you a substantial discount. I like stocking up on protein like shrimps and scallops. The sushi isn't bad for a quick lunch during the week. The alcohol aisle entrance being covered by an employee, checking ID - that's kinda funny. I wonder what they're trying to accomplish?? Checking out is a little challenging, almost like crossing the border from Canada. You may have a to wait a little as they figure how to charge an item. read more

This new chain straddles the line between convenience store and full-service grocery. Although it's geared towards grab-and-goers who favor digital convenience, traditional shoppers are capably accommodated. If you have the Amazon app on your smartphone, you just scan your QR code at the store entrance, and then every item you place in your cart triggers doohickeys hanging from the ceiling to transmit a silent "KA-CHING!" to your account, bypassing the traditional checkout line. The Missus and I decided to give Amazon Fresh a go upon receiving a $15 coupon in the mail. Considering how Amazon has blanketed the USA with warehouses and directly sources or produces much of what they sell, it was disconcerting to see the many empty shelves throughout the store. The supply chain issue has no bearing on my three-star review because most businesses are similarly affected. But this store offers a smaller selection than, say, the average Jewel or Mariano's, and we found only about one-third of the items on our shopping list. I was not enamored with the meager selections in the produce or grocery aisles. Apart from bananas having an "everyday price" of 15 cents each (bummer, they were completely sold out), prices on the average are higher than many full-service chains. We buy a lot of prepared foods, so for us, the Fresh Kitchen aisle was the most useful department. The selection here is not huge either, but it does rotate. Package labeling is difficult to read; Amazon needs to fix this. With the exception of an unusually dry meat lasagna (needing a generous pour of marinara), everything else we've consumed so far has been quite good. A friendly nod to the helpful worker behind the counter who suggested that we "sprinkle water" on the lasagna (a form of baptism?). Yeah, we checked out the old-fashioned way. Be aware that self-serve items from the salad bar, hot bar, etc. are sold by container size, not weight. If you want only a couple olives, you'll be charged a flat rate for the container whether it's empty or full. And, one more thing: Bring your own bags, otherwise Amazon charges 9 cents per bag. read more

Do I like Amazon's labor practices, which include paying its workers low wages and asking me to compensate with tips on top of delivery charges? No. Do I like helping fund efforts to shoot Jeff Bezos into outer space? A little bit, yeah. I've been buying groceries from Amazon Fresh since the Morton Grove location opened, and I've noticed a slow but steady improvement in its selection. That's kept me from regularly turning to Instacart as the charges at Whole Foods started creeping higher. Obviously, Instacart will still be waiting with open arms if Amazon Fresh decides to hike charges, too, but for now, I'm glad this location is nearby. read more

Used to be a wonderful store, wonderful selections, wonderful produce. You could go in and out, no hassle. Then several months ago they switched to Dash Carts, aka "smart" carts, but they're unreliable, when they work at all. Alas, since then things have only gotten worse. When I shopped there today many of the products I selected wouldn't scan, and when the helpful employees attempted to manually type in product codes, either the wrong product came up or none at all. There was fresh produce I wanted to purchase but couldn't because they weren't in the system (sad to think those will just now rot on the shelves). In one case, I ended up paying more for potatoes because the system thought they were more expensive watermelon slices--but I needed the potatoes! Again, the store staff were very helpful to the extent they could be, but this problem is way above their paygrade. RIP, Amazon Fresh. :( read more

In fact, most of their prices were higher than an average grocery unless it was on sale. If it was on sale there was a chance it was out of stock. I've called what is advertised as the Customer Service number for Amazon Fresh several times and have even gone into the store to complain and NO ONE has ever been able to expain why this happens or correct it. Pretty solid place for groceries, and I always appreciate the coupons that they provide. They have some really nice packaging for their Fresh Brand meats too. The pizza is also a great deal and is delicious! I'll have to try the rest of their food sometime because it always smells so good (or I'm just going when I'm hungry, which isn't a good idea either ). Plus, it's been really convenient to have an Amazon Locker/Pick-up/Return area in the store! The only thing missing is a phone number to directly connect with this particular store. I picked up a package from the locker but left it in the bottom of my cart (dumb move, I know). I didn't realize it until the next day and I wanted to call to see if an employee happened to find it, but the only number available directed me to a general Amazon help line with no affiliation to this store; they told me I had to go there in person to find out. Thankfully an employee did find it and brought it to Customer Service, but it would be much more convenient to be able to just call them directly. Hopefully they can incorporate that in the near future! read more

Hmm, the snake eats its own tail. If you had told me ten years ago that Amazon would open a chain of brick-and-mortar grocery stores and then market to the surrounding communities with direct mail, I would have scoffed hard. Yet, here we are. Strange days! They did actually succeed in luring me in with those generous coupons, but no more have arrived recently. However you feel about Amazon's various innovations and depredations, the fact remains that this just isn't a very good grocery store. They obviously use it primarily as a fulfillment center for internet orders, as staff members wandering the aisles outnumber civilians at least 2:1. - It's very industrial feeling. I don't go to the grocery store to have my joy buttons pressed, but still, it feels almost like I'm trespassing in here. - About 60% of the shelves are empty which contributes to the "not really a store" feeling. And it means you probably won't find everything on your list even if you're not picky about brand or variety. - Prices are generally comparable to other chain stores, although produce is more pricey + Pizza by the slice is pretty cheap and a decent lunch option - However, the rest of the prepared foods are kind of expensive - Hot bar and salad bar pricing is not per pound, but per container: small, medium, and large. And OF COURSE they were out of small containers the day that I wanted to get something. Lots and lots of medium and large containers. Borderline shady. read more

DO NOT do curbside order here! The wait time for pick up is 60-75 minutes. Ridiculous! No local number to call to get help, if you can't physically go inside. If you call the 800 number they just say they don't know what the wait is and they have no way to contact the location! So you'll also waste time on the phone for someone to have no solution for you. I had gone here for the first time not knowing what to expect. I apologized and her that I had never been here before. She again scolded me and told me I should read the sign. I didn't realize she was implying I was walking out without paying. I stopped by here to experience what "Just walk Out" technology had to offer and how it was implemented. When you in, there is a set of gates that you can go through. A couple of them are there for the traditional grocery shopping experience where you pick up items and finalize the purchase at the cash register. The other gates are for you to scan your phone at using the Amazon App (in-store code option), and pick up the items you want, and walk out through another gate (you receive a receipt digitally after leaving the store. Ours took about 15 minutes). This is done with a lot of cameras above the aisles and open areas and computational processing to track products and customers. I only bought a few items, and it got the purchases right. The experience was pretty eye opening to see what kind of sensor and data fusion capability is out there. Very impressive. There was convenient Amazon locker / pickup location in the back. Employees throughout the store were very friendly and made the experience positive. That said, the items in the store are similar to the other grocery stores in the area. The prices weren't necessarily better either. The baked good section wasn't the best, and honestly didn't look that great. There was some hot foods, which was a nice addition, but I did not try any of those items. I enjoy walking around the grocery store and don't mind taking my time, so skipping the checkout line isn't a big draw for me personally. However, if i needed something quick, this is a good place to get it. For better selection, other stores would be better. But, this isn't a bad option by any means. read more

Edit: It says the refund went through online. I will see if my card reflects the bill when it comes. I went four days ago with my mom. We bought 1 bunch of organic cilantro. Today I checked and it said in past purchases replaced with organic leeks 1 bunch. Not sure why. And the email receipt says 1 bunch o f organic parsley not the cilantro we ordered. Its the same price so no big deal. But we did not order parsley. We took cilantro that day. It even has different plu numbers. So it can not be by mistake. We definitely took cilantro and not parsley. I went back today March 31st 2022. I bought a cookie and diet coke and was charged 22 dollars and 60 cents. I picked up a lot of things but put them back exactly where I found them. It has to be exact or you get charged. Except I as looking at the soup containers to see how much bigger the large was compared to the medium. I put the containers down. Maybe not exactly on the stack but I left them there. I did not even leave with any soup. Yet when wonder why I got charged 22 dollars and 60 cents for a cookie and a Diet Coke I noticed when clicking on the details link of the email receipt it says I got charged for 2 soups which were about 15 dollars. Both medium and large. I did not even leave with any soup. I started the return online. Hope it goes through. If not I will no longer be shopping here. Peace out. read more

Many advertised items in were not in stock. For most items not on flyer price are higher than most anywhere in the area. Even the grapes on the memorial day flyer were twice the Jewel price. I checked this online. I have had problems in the past with produce - today was no exception, a week ago I bough a bunch of Dole bananas that were not yet ripe (fairly green.) Even after 7 days they were hard as a rock. I attempted to return then without the receipt which I did not get thinking Amazon has a record of all my purchase. Wrong! And the service rep refused to take them back. I got pretty hot over that - but eventually the manager agreed to exchange them. This store was great when you could get them to deliver without a fee. My wife and I never spend that much so we no longer have them deliver. To go from $35.00 minimum to $150 minimum is unconsionable. If it wasn't for 365 popcorn and cheap distilled water for my CPAP, I would not shop at this store. read more

I love the convenience of being able to return Amazon items if need be. I have ordered groceries a couple of times and have been pleased with the service. When they have their weekly specials those are usually really good but to just do regular grocery shopping the prices are normally higher than other stores. And their hot at used to be really nice and the food looked really fresh but the last couple of times most of the food looks like it's been sitting there for a long time and not appetizing at all. But I have to say that their Orange Chicken is almost as good if not better than Panda Express. read more

I've been ordering Amazon Fresh delivery for years, basically without a hitch. Amazon Fresh Norridge would deliver to me. They must have remapped because now Amazon Fresh Morton Grove delivers to me, and​ since then the service has gone down considerably. When I place orders in the evening there's almost no delivery openings for the next day, I would have to wait 2 days. (Whereas Norridge almost always had even same-day delivery openings.) Twice I placed delivery orders that the store canceled without an explanation. Once I placed an order and literally the majority of items in the order were canceled as being out of stock. Those issues never happened with Norridge, and you can't choose which store delivers to you. read more

It's the whole big Amazon Fresh store and nowadays every other person has some issues that they can't take regular sugar and they had absolutely no sugar substitute. I asked couple of people and was talked to like as if I asked a brick of freaking gold! It's 2023 you don't know that some people can't have regular sugar ‍ Same with the availability of other things at the store Juices, creamers etc. Nowadays every place has at least some sugar substitute, very disappointed! read more

I have seen the new store but never visited. A friend told me about it and I wanted to see it for myself. Upon entry you must either scan your Amazon code or get a Amazon account and enter or I think you can scan your credit card associated with your account to enter. There were most of the same things you find in a grocery store and mainly the 365 Products found in Whole Foods and on Amazon Fresh online. There is produce and a butcher and fish area. There is a soup and salad bar. The salads are flat rates per container size and not weighed. The salad bar is pretty nice and fresh but still doesn't beat Whole Foods salad bar in selections. They have a deli section with sandwiches and a sushi bar. So you scan in to enter and scan out and load up and they charge for the paper bags. And when you walk out you get your receipt on Amazon. I wasn't sure about the checkout process so I had a very nice employee to walk me through the process and I left. It took over and hour for my receipt to be calculated and delivered on Amazon. The store seemed clean and nicely organized. I also saw the Amazon fresh workers packaging bags for online orders. I will definitely return. And there were coupons delivered to my Amazon account to use during my shopping trip. read more

We did pick them up to look at them but put them back on the shelf. I guess their hope is that you will not check your receipt. They spared no detail from a live DJ booth and well-staffed from entrances, exits, inventory, hot food, etc., They advertised on billboards off Touhy to sending coupon mailers to virtually on yelp. The store was well organized and continually well stocked. I really wanted to love this store, but ugh, shopping here was a chore. I am a big fan of Amazon and they get a lot of my money every month. I also love Whole Foods and do most of my shopping there. I tried out AF after receiving a coupon for $20 off $50 and was excited to visit. I have to say the prices seemed pretty out of whack ($3.99 for a head of garlic?!) and selection was lacking PLUS shelves were not restocked well so lots of empty slots. There was some organic items, but not nearly enough. Then came checkout. I was expecting the Whole Foods experience - where every cashier is a trendy 20 to 40 something who is impeccably trained and knowledgeable. Not at AF. Our cashier didn't seem to know what literally any vegetable or fruit was - he had to look them all up. I know one of the cool features at this store is to walk right out without checkout, but that didn't make sense here as we were using a coupon. If you were doing a quick fill in trip for milk and eggs etc. you might walk in and walk out and be satisfied, but it doesn't seem like the place for a full weekly shop. Overall - I would not go back without an insanely good coupon, because prices seemed a lot higher and the experience was terrible. read more

They've got GREAT generic options and the check out process is sort of amazing. THAT SAID. I felt like I was in a video game fighting with all the Amazon pickers. I realize that it's not their job to help me and that they need to focus on picking for their online orders but there are SO many of them and they make NO effort to get out of the way of the people actually shopping in the store. It was HILARIOUSLY obstructive to shop for a handful of things. And while I understand their frustration... from their perspective I am in the way of doing their jobs but... many of the folks I encountered were quite rude about the whole thing. Mostly-empty black shelves and an array of cameras overhead everywhere you go makes this feel more like you're shopping in an episode of Black Mirror. And not one of the happy episodes, like when the people find the perfect black-framed accent mirror for that empty spot on the wall of their guest bedroom. No, I mean one of the terrifying episodes, like when the people look in the new mirror they just bought and all they see is the infinite blackness of eternity. (Note: I have never seen Black Mirror.) Oh, and today I couldn't actually go in the store, because the app refused to generate an in-store code for me, and the people at the front had no idea what to do. So, I just left.
