This is our go-to grocer in the area. Considering Mariano's is now owned under Kroger, it's a pretty standard shopping experiences with all the expected store-branded, generic items alongside namebrand products. Employees are usually really polite and helpful although I think it depends on if they're on stocking duty. Those particular individuals seem rather hectic but otherwise everything is fine. The parking lot is huge and busy, off of two fairly busy main thoroughfare streets. I would be really careful pulling in and out, I've seen a few cars get a little too close for comfort to pedestrians walking to and from the entrance. There's a Stan's Donuts inside if you need a breakfast pick-me-up, and I appreciate how the store feels relatively divided up into bakery, produce, and shelf stable areas (and so forth). Compared to other big box stores, it somehow feels more manageable the way they set up the walls and hallways. I think it's sometimes confusing to see, especially in the dairy and meat aisles, what they put in the center freezers and fridges versus along the wall. I had a great experience at the store yesterday. Toni was so helpful & accommodating when I asked her to slice 2 loaves of Irish soda bread and also get me a fresh batch of cheese popcorn for my hubby who's obsessed with it. The pharmacy tech patiently showed me to the product I was looking for. Then, I was having a hard time with the app and getting my digital coupons and Rachel was patient and made sure I got my discount even though the app wouldn't let me sign in. I generally like this place. The staff are friendly and they have a nice kosher section. Wide aisles. The only thing I no longer buy here is their cheese popcorn. It used to be really fresh and good. My last 3 purchases the popcorn was stale mushy. I took 2 back. I won't but this again. There is no quality control. I asked the maker if it was fresh and she said yes. It wasn't. On 03/18/26 at 9pm, I experienced very poor service that I kept getting angrier the more I spoke to primarily, the manager and employees there. I am writing this review because I am infuriated that Mariano's has bad service. They were very reluctant to help. We purchased 3 bags of macadamia nuts on sale. However, when we went home and tried it. It had a bad stench and it was obvious that it was toxic to eat. It had the worst fowl smell. When we went to ask for an exchange, the employee said there was a policy saying that the items on sale could not be refunded. So next, I asked for the manager, and he was very rude in his tone, and instead of apologizing for the expired foods and even us trying it (we could get sick), the manager kept saying the sale items could not be returned in a rude tone. Finally, the more infuriating comment he made was beyond racist and rude for the situation. The manager said "do you speak English?" The male manager understood everything and the situation, why would he ridicule me. Yes, my English is short but I am a customer that deserves respect and at least apologize for spoiled food. We could get sick from the foods that they sell. The male manager should have been more responsible to check if the items sold, especially food is spoiled or not. People could get sick. I looked up 4 prescriptions on BuzzRx and Marianos Glenview was the best price. I brought the paper scripts in and specifically told them I wanted to use BuzzRx and showed them the coupon prices. When I went to pick them up, 2 of 4 of them rang up at prices twice as expensive as the coupon. The pharmacy tech said he could verify the coupon prices were still live but had no way of overriding the higher price on the register when he chose the BuzzRx option. read more

I bought a rotisserie chicken last weekend, had 5-6 bites and by 2AM was vomiting (and other fun stuff) for close to 2 full days and could NOT miss work. Rude cust service, rude assistant store manager, and have received SIX EMAILS in 2 days from various cust svs reps, all with the same script, and asking for details (provided numerous times). Contacted IDPH re: foodborne illness, also had expired items in shelf (dated expired April 17...this was in MAY.) Be VERY careful if you keep shopping there. As I'm still feeling ill I'm thinking salmonella and will reach out to my doctor. They don't really care if their customers get sick from their mishandled, expired food as it has been a week and nothing but scripted emails each day. I didn't even bring up all the OSHA violations with crap blocking the aisle to the point where I just left. Now I think I will. Marianos is my go to place for fresh food. Staff and cashiers are friendly and helpful. The bar is now open, Starbucks (lovely and bright) in the store looks like it's opening soon. I really like their food/soup/salad bar. After purchasing your hot food, you can sit and eat at in-store seating. Food tastes great! Some Mariano's locations have live music, which is a treat. I have yet to attend a Mariano's in store event, and look forward to experiencing an event soon. read more

Under Kroger's wing for a few years now, Mariano's food quality, selection, and customer service have eroded noticeably. Our most recent experience at this location was quite disturbing. Marie Callender's frozen pot pies were advertised on sale. But incredibly, every box in the freezer case was ripped open and/or crushed (the product inside each box is not otherwise sealed). I couldn't find as much as one intact box. Frustrated, I went to the Customer Service counter. There, an indifferent worker summoned an equally indifferent front end manager. When I showed him the photo of a damaged box on my smartphone, he muttered, "That's not my department; a grocery worker will need to check it out," and walked away. No apology, no raincheck, no nothing. Safeway acquired Chicago's once-prosperous Dominick's chain, took it downmarket and ultimately out of business. Let's hope the once-fabulous Mariano's chain doesn't suffer a similar fate. read more

I'm impressed by the rewards program, you can get stuff such as candy bars, snacks, food items, etc., and you can check out through the self service line - that's really convenient. Like all of the other Mariano's, I don't see it as a grocery store, it's more of a restaurant where you can get pre-made, high quality food. Just look at all of their pastries, is there anything that doesn't look good? I do enjoy their gelato and smoothies. You can also get a good deal on cases of Lagunitas. I had started using Instacart exclusively over the pandemic so I had not been in a store in 3-4 years. Today I went in Glenview. Half the lights were dark. I couldn't see prices, it was that dim. I went to get some goodies at the olive bar. The girl working there was just leaning on the counter. I asked where everything was, as it was empty. She said everything is broken and she had no idea when it would be fixed. She pointed me to some pre-packed olives etc. The small containers are expensive, over $6 each for a tiny container. And expired! I saw other expired fresh foods too. I truly went to get some already-made things so I didn't have to prepare anything. But suddenly everything I grabbed to buy was expired. You want Whole Foods quality? Then go to Whole Foods, you snobby hoeskis, and leave my Mariano's alone! Good selection of meats at a reasonable price, $6 prepared meals that are actually tasty and not half bad for the waistline, gelato that will shut your annoying, screaming children up right away, cookies and pies that will make your lady time of the month feel like heaven, the spices section is amazing and they will give you smaller portions in individual bags by weight if you don't want to grab a giant container/bag, and free food samples galore...it's like a full meal on there sometimes, just go round and round and round. Lol. It's not the cream of the crop when it comes to Mariano's locations, but they did basically make the transformation from a busted ass Dominick's to this in about a month and a half. It's definitely a pretty impressive improvement in that short of a time frame. If you didn't know already...Mariano's is awesome for ready to eat meals and having bars where you can grab a beer while you shop. Unfortunately I don't think this location lets you guzzle while grocery-ing, but everything else is pretty on par with the brand. Compared to in the past, this place has gone downhill in quality, freshness, and variety. Customer service is a mess, employees seem short-staffed and overworked. The uniqueness of them grilling your meat has been their strength, but corporate is all about greed and can't afford to even operate the grills anymore. Huge Mariano's serving all the usual basics. Something I wish I knew sooner was the coffee and breakfast sandwich combo. My ideal morning would start with the combo and then leisure grocery shopping right after that. Pros - lots of parking - most everything you want in a super market - clean and organized - decent guest wifi - indoor seating for dining in next to lovely flora - produce is pretty fresh - making returns is easy. Bought a dud meat thermometer and didn't have the packaging anymore, but was able to make the return with the receipt Cons - can be expensive - pricey hot food section that tastes too salty - I can never achieve anything via the Mariano's rewards card :( read more

Two of my clients work at this Mariano's location, so I anticipated visiting to see what it was like. I visited to purchase a birthday cake from the bakery for a different client to celebrate his birthday. In order to make this visit less painful I tried to stay within the bakery area because I tend to get overwhelmed while visiting Mariano's which I still was even though I stayed in the bakery section. After a debate between purchasing either a mixed container of 24 Chicago Buttercream Cupcakes, or a Chocolate Chip Cake that says 'Happy Birthday' on it, I went with a beautiful 8-inch Single Layer Red Velvet Cake that costed me only $10.99. While in the bakery, I took notice of its Sushi bar (Oki Sushi ) ; Hot bar being $7.99 per pound; the Salad bar being $6.99 per pound, and its tasty looking foods in the Todds BBQ section. I find it easy to get sidetracked at Mariano's when not shopping with a grocery list. And I have to say that out of all the Mariano's locations that I have visited, this is the best! During this visit, I utilized the self-checkout machine during my check out which I am thankful that busy grocery stores like Mariano's have. As for parking, parking is the last thing you have to worry about while visiting this Mariano's location, even though the lot is shared with several other businesses in its complex. Mariano's has gone downhill as a chain ever since Kroger took over. However, I have found that this location is no longer worth visiting at all. First, their produce department is consistently understocked. I have gone in when there was not a single blueberry or raspberry for sale at any price. How can a supermarket not have berries for sale in the summertime? Once you get past that disappointment, you will find far more expired merchandise than average on shelves around the store. Be EXTRA careful with dairy products here. I found a yogurt on the shelf for sale that was 8 weeks past its stamped date. All of that is lame, but the most obnoxious part of a visit to this location doesn't come until it's time to checkout. It doesn't matter if their are 5 people in line or 50, it is the policy of this store (and perhaps Mariano's as a whole?) that there can only be TWO checkout lanes open at a time. Variety and prices are pretty decent here, and ample parking should never be underestimated! While I especially like the variety of hot bar food and ready to eat options like sandwiches, thin crust pizza, and BBQ (for those times you just don't feel like cooking), I highly caution and advise you to skip the offerings from the hot bar. I've been burned twice now. The first time, the pot roast caused an upset stomach, and then months later, the roasted potatoes and/or mac 'n cheese caused major stomach cramps on top of a really bad upset stomach. My mom and I went here to buy some groceries. Its her favorite store for buying groceries because of a lot of different variety of food. She likes the surroundings because of the cleanliness and neatness of it. The shelves that are full of stock have been organized well. I push the cart while my mom chooses food and drinks. My mom was so picky when it came to the food and the expiration of it. So I got bored and I excuse myself to buy some cookies. It cost $3.99 dollar only. After I bought it with some drinks I sat at one of the tables while waiting for my mom to go to the counter. After a half hour mom came and I went to her. Our cart is full of food and drinks including some snacks, wine, cookies, seafood and meat, juices, and more. My mom got bored because of 10 minutes of waiting at the line counter. This Mariano's is always a nightmare. Today, the Monday before Thanksgiving was no exception. The store was crowded (4:00-5:00), and there were only 2 checkout lines open, so the lines to checkout stretched far down the aisles. The shelves are a mess, the frozen food section was in such disarray, I was unable ascertain prices. But the worst part was a man pushing a poor sickly, shaking dog in a shopping cart around the store.
