I don't know if there's some communication issues that needs to addressed, but this has probably been one of the worst experiences I've had with anything Amazon related. I placed a pick-up order around 5pm just for some barbecue sauce scheduled for 6pm-7pm pick up. 15 minutes later, I receive an email saying my order was ready for pickup. That was a lot faster than I expected, but it says it's ready, so I figured I could go pick it up right now. I arrive around 5:30pm and go to the pick up window, only for them to say the order is still in progress. One of the employees, who looked like they were still new and didn't know what to do, said they were working on it, so I decided to walk around the store for a little bit. About 10 minutes later, I receive a voicemail saying that my Amazon Fresh order was ready for pickup up. I didn't even know they called you for that sort of thing, but whatever. I go back to the pickup window and they say it's still in progress, that I would need to probably come back at the scheduled 6pm-7pm window. Which is fine, I guess, I just don't understand why I'm getting multiple messages saying my order is ready for pickup if it's actually not, i'm just wasting my time with these mixed signals. I come back at 6:50pm only for them to tell me that, even though my pick up window is 6pm-7pm, I actually have to wait until 7pm for pickup. Which I genuinely do not understand, especially since it's only a few minutes until 7pm anyways. The assistant manager went on about how they're just a drop-off spot and they didn't have control over the process, at which point I'm starting to suspect he thought I was there for a package pick-up instead of for an Amazon Fresh order. At any rate, I figured I'm just going to stand and wait until 7pm for my order. A couple minutes after, a 3rd employee comes over, after the first employee and assistant manager are gone, with a bag in hand, asking me if I needed help. I told her I was waiting for my order and after confirming, she hands me the bag she had on hand, which had my order. She mentioned it's been ready for a while, which left me kinda annoyed, because now I don't understand what the assistant manager was talking about then. I highly suspect they had a 3rd employee come hand over the order because they knew they were mistaken about what they said and didn't want to deal with the potential complaint. My order was correct, I was technically still within my scheduled pick-up window. It's just the mixed signals and confusing communication that left me really annoyed. I had to go back and forth to the store twice. I could have just picked it up off the shelf myself and saved myself an hour. read more

They have a return area for your amazon package. Wish they have everything around the kiosk like the bag we went and ise it and waited in line just for a bag. Also its not even a month and you guys mess up your items already. Its new so its still clean and fresh read more

The good: prices decreased and friendly, helpful staff. The bad: poorly managed with insufficient staff and pricing signage is confusing. Since they opened 6 months ago in Poway, they have reduced their prices to be more competitive. Some items are slightly less than a traditional grocery store such as Ralphs or Albertsons. Staff is helpful and friendly although management needs to staff appropriately at 4:30PM on a weekday. There was one cashier for all three types of checkout (self, standard, and electronic basket). I stood in line for 15 minutes behind one other customer while I observed the cashier walking away from customers waiting to be helped in order to serve another customer at the different checkout locations. The cashier called for help early on and no one came to help. No management in sight. I have made the decision not to return after giving Amazon Fresh a try once a month while waiting for it to improve and be more competitive with local stores. read more

I went here to pick up my packages that I ordered online. The pick up process was extremely complicated, in which I asked a total of three employees and they all sent me in the wrong direction. There's also a sign by the store that says pick up here that literally has an arrow pointing towards a location and when walking towards that location, it's literally an area where a dumpster is. I advise the employees to get better trained at understanding the basics of this store as of right now, I do not recommend this place to anybody. Also, I felt that the employees were rude. That all gave me wrong directions but the customer service person that finally helped me out with my packages was OK. read more

Amazon Fresh in Poway has the item-scanning carts which is a great feature for the quick exit rather than waiting in a cashier's line. The only drawback is that sometimes the carts do not weigh vegetables well and I have to make quick memory of the item code and enter it in the nearby general scales. The vegetables are superb in quality. The GPS item finder is great, being new to the store. The staff demonstrate excellent customer service. The overall prices cannot be beat by any nearby store, with many items significantly less than area competitors. Some wishes to add to this store: greater selection of bread; sugar-free pies; lactose-free items; a greater selection of meats; a fresh seafood deli -- We would do all of our grocery shopping here if this were the case. read more

This store is about what I would expect in a grocery store. The selection is good and their sushi is actually not bad at all for grocery store quality. The kids love their pizza and they have pretty good popcorn chicken as well. The only thing I wish they had was whole wheat bagels which I have to go elsewhere to buy. The carts make everything worth while. I love being able to just walk out when I am done and the prices and special offers make them far cheaper than some other chains like Vons. read more

Amazon Fresh was a bit of a letdown. First, there weren't enough smart carts, which was frustrating since that's one of their main draws. It then become a normal check out experience without the convience of leaving the store directly to your car. Most items were also incorrectly labeled, making it hard to find the right prices. For a company claiming lower prices, they were actually a bit higher than Ralphs and Vons. Overall, it felt like more hassle than it was worth. This store is anything but fresh. Rotten avocados, bad cucumbers, moldy strawberries, and the "ready to eat meals" were also bad. It looks like they were trying to save money by not throwing away bad produce and decided the bins would look better full even if it meant they were rotten. The layout also was awful and didn't have any kind of flow. The prices are ridiculous. The staff has obviously been barely trained and are clueless. The produce was not the freshest and the prices were really expensive for the overall store. I have shopped for years raising a family and I know what target pricing for groceries should reflect.......this missed the target We were excited to try the Amazon Fresh and visited the 2nd week after opening......the smart carts are a good idea but a bit confusing especially if you take something out of the cart put it back on shelf. There is a whole process to delete it from the cart scanner. Overall I give Amazon Fresh 3 stars. You guys need to be competitive in your pricing not out price your competitors. read more

I don't often write reviews and more often than not they are usually praising a location, but this one will not be kind. Went to the Amazon Fresh in Rancho Bernardo/Poway area to return something to Amazon. That went very well. Decided to grab som quick food from the hot bar. Just some chicken wings and chicken fingers...road food. Both were terrible. Awful! Unedible! The wings were undercooked and the fingers were so hard that I was afraid I'd chip a tooth. Tossed it all in the trash when I got home. Maybe it's just this location, and I was there around 4 as they were putting the food out so it was "fresh", but I won't be trying the hot bar again...maybe the salad bar. read more

Their prices are very High!!!! I frequently a 6-pack of Diet Dr Pepper bottles and it's $6.79 at Amazon and only $3.98 at Walmart!!!! The smart carts were great and their fresh food to go was good!!! I Won't shop there unless I need to for convenience. read more

I was here with my 4 year old son who has level 3 autism(it's relevant to my review) and his father this past Sunday doing a little grocery shopping. I will probably use your self check out carts in the future to avoid criticism over our son's disability ever again. We were checking out with the male checker working at the time. He made a comment about my son's pacifier. I usually take it out before going to the store to avoid unsolicited opinions on the matter. I told him my son has severe autism, it's self soothing and his medical team is aware. We decided in his case it does more good for self regulation than harm to his teeth. We are more than aware of the dental repercussions. Not that it's anyone's business of anyone who works (or shops) there at all. The checker repeatedly lectured us on it causing harm to his teeth even after trying to politely tell him his opinion isn't appreciated. He then demanded to know what our child's "superpower" was. My son does not need to have a "superpower" to be worthy of basic human decency, I don't know why any of this was the cashiers business. I am used to it because I spend more time in public with my son and people always think they are entitled to their opinion on the matter. My son's father isn't used to it and he was fuming red as we left. Again that has absolutely nothing to do with your cashiers job description. Its made both of feel very offended and disgusted. We were just trying to buy groceries like everyone else for the week. Why was any of that necessary?? Please mind your fucking business and do better. Disabled people are allowed to exist and take up space like anyone else. My sons is not some circus sideshow, he is a human being!!!!!! read more

High prices, limited selection and items not placed where you think they would be so you get to hunt them down. For example, a bag of sugar is not with the other baking goods. I had to ask, and when I was told it was in the juice aisle. I commented that's odd, and the employee said yeah,that's our store! I can't imagine coming back. read more

Ordered groceries from Fresh in Poway for pickup. Received 9 bags with 21 items missing. There was no way to call the store, I had to go through a central phone number. We had to inventory all the missing items and list them for the phone rep. They will credit the missing items but I have to go to the store (definitely NOT Fresh) to replace them. It took an hour to resolve. The missing bags were probably sitting at the store but there was no way to contact them. read more

You want to know what's special about Amazon Fresh? Literally nothing. The produce was rotten, and the employees kept adding more rotten produce to the shelves. However, the worst thing about this store is that there is nothing unique about any of the products and it is ridiculously overpriced. It is not a Whole Foods in any way. It is filled with big box items that you could get in tons of other stores in the neighborhood, including Target in the same parking lot for 20% less. You can also get the exact same products on the Amazon website delivered to your house for 20% less! I do not understand why anyone would shop here. Hopefully people become wiser consumers and realize this. I will never go there again. read more

The store was SO busy but I guarantee that's because it was only the second day being open. The crowds will die down as I've been to a few other SoCal locations and they were FAR from as busy as this location. The thing that made me disappointed was the hot/cold food bar. I'm not sure if all Amazon Fresh stores have done this, but when I used to go to the Murrieta location, price was 8.99 for the whole small box and 9.99 for the larger box, so it was such a good deal for what you could cram into the box. Now that it's sold by the pound, the boxes are going to end up being at the least, 20 bucks. Now it's just like going to the overpriced and ridonkulously busy While Foods. I know the two companies are intertwined now, but they were before when I went to the Murrieta one, and the hot/cold food bar used to be priced by the box, NOT by the pound, which makes it SO over expensive for simple food like chicken tenders/fried chicken, mac n cheese. Too bad because I've been waiting years for this place to finally open and now it appears to just be a thinly veiled Whole Foods. read more

So finally, after years of delay, no thanks to COVID, Amazon Fresh is finally open. I am in the area (I live in San Marcos) and don't really find my way down to Poway often. So I decided to pop in and see what all the hype is. First impression: Nice big parking lot, the store looks nice and organized, but that's pretty much where it stops. I go through several aisles and browse around, and the prices are very high for something you would expect from Amazon trying to expand into a giant supermarket chain that isn't Whole Foods, which we all know is overpriced and caters to the tree huggers and organic lovers. Some things are cheap, but most items are overpriced that you can get much cheaper at Walmart or Costco for. Hell, even Target, though I am not much of a Target shopper since it's usually more expensive than Costco or Walmart. I think there was way too much hype around Amazon Fresh. It's a great concept in theory, but in practice, they're priced just about the same compared to a local supermarket chain like Ralph's (Kroger) or Vons/Albertsons (Safeway). If the pricing was more comparable to Walmart or Costco or even cheaper, I'd see the appeal, but it's not, and I won't drive out of my way to pay more simply because it's an Amazon-branded supermarket. read more

Went to the new Amazon Fresh market in Poway on the 2nd day after opening. I must say there were plenty of Amazon employees on the floor to help with our shopping. All were friendly and helpful. The isle ways are fairly packed with items to purchase. Some jumble of how and where items were placed, some items were marked "out of stock" but items were in place behind the labels. The ready to eat section with food items to select such as salads, fried chicken, etc. seemed a little out of place? Trays of food items were arranged under plexiglass but still seemed a little exposed. Fresh meat section was impressive, nice cuts of meats in vacumn type sealed packaging. Could not figure out the pricing as each item did not have its own price affixed. Produce section was good, produce was fresh and arranged nicely. If you are an Amazon Prime member there is a discount on in house items from Amazon. You are able to return your Amazon purchases at this location and receive a coupon with your return, Items showing online were not always in place. Will we go back most assuredly. read more

Opening Day couldn't handle the traffic even past the Target lot. It took roughly 10 minutes PER CUSTOMER at checkout. The service guy put 2 people ahead of my handicapped friend who was behind me! But at least he helped her put her groceries on the belt. It's a lovely new store, but the prices reflect the overhead. I doubt I'll be back. Smart & Final, Costco, & Walmart are far better. We waited in line for about an hour to make our purchases. My 2 items took about 5 minutes and I had to point out the sale price. Heads up warning about the easy in and out of the smart carts: pretty much every single person I could see checking out, while I was waiting to check out had a problem that reflected the sale price not being honored by the register. I had to bring mine to their attention, as well. So the potential is - you're gonna speed in and out and not notice you were overcharged on your "sale" items. Watch out. read more
