Amazon Pharmacy can be Good IF used along with your Local Pharmacy The result of my experience after 9 months of using Amazon Pharmacy (I'm a Prime member) (as of 1/10/2025): 1) DO use Amazon Pharmacy (AP) if you have MAINTENANCE meds to refill regularly like blood pressure, cholesterol lowering, or any other meds you refill regularly, OR if you are filling a script that is not time-sensitive. 2) DO use AP if you are NOT concerned about a one business day delay or rescheduling of delivery of your medication occasionally. Scripts usually arrive within two business days. 3) DO use AP if you want to be given the option before ordering to use insurance or NOT. Often, AP's price for a prescription medication is well below the "Insurance Price" of the medication. You can check both before ordering. 4) DO use AP if you want the ability to display/print a consolidated report of all orders for any time period with details and prices paid for your meds. 5) DO NOT use AP if you are ordering time-sensitive or time-critical prescription medications. Use your local pharmacy instead and check both your insurance price and the GoodRx (or similar vendor) price at your local pharmacy to get the best deal while keeping in mind that choosing not to use your insurance for prescription medications may affect your insurance deductible/copay amounts through the benefit year. 6) Instead of trying to "fix" a prescription that's already at AP and with which you're having trouble, sometimes it's easier to message your provider to ask the m to send a new prescription to AP. All in all, AP has been a complement to my local CVS pharmacy. I don't consider it to be a replacement. If I need a script as soon as as possible it goes to my local CVS and if I need a maintenance refill later on I ask the PROVIDER (not CVS -- CVS will not transfer scripts to AP!!!) to send a new script to AP. I feel sort of bad for people who are forced by their health plans to use ONLY Amazon Pharmacy. I know how frustrating it must be if you have to contact a human, and AP better get its s--t together in terms of providing better human-based customer service read more

They lost my shipment or was damaged, and then tell me that they cannot refill the prescription and i would have to wait until my next monthly delivery. of course this is all in a chat box and no number to call...when i first get on the chat it says bare with me i will return in a few minutes, lets call it five minutes, finally they send me a message and before i can respond respond back, and before i can send it, they send me a message that if i didnt respond soon they would end my chat. Of course i asked, if im having to wait on you, but you want to end my chat how is that fair? im the consumer here...SMH so they finally agree to send me another prescription but it still wont be delivered until after my supply runs out. so i had to contact my local doctor to send me a weeks supply, and then i get another message from them this morning that they had cancelled my order all together and would have to wait for the monthly delivery at the end of june.. so i just cancelled the whole prescription, not worth the hassle... i would hate for this to be a medication that is life preserving...they made the mistake and i have to suffer, they have a god complex or something...no more Amazon pharmacy for me, fair warning... read more

I honestly wish I could give them negative five stars. I had to fight the Amazon pharmacy to try to get them to run my prescriptions through my insurance and they even after I got them on three-way calls and got their approvals through they still tried to charge me full price for my prescriptions without my insurance. And then when I went to try to get it my prescriptions away from them it took me over a month to get them to release those prescriptions to someone else. Do not use the Amazon pharmacy because they will not run your prescriptions through your insurance. They kept blaming the delivery service . Had my 1st fill delivered no problem . 2nd fill they claimed there is a discrepency in my address. Never received it. Did a replacement order that never delivered as well . They stated its just late. I read more than she did and she works there , It literally stated this item has not been scanned for delivery. But she kept telling me it was on its way just late. I told her to just quit with the excuses and lies . They used 2 of my refills and had no consideration for putting the 2 refills back after 2 failed deliveries. I had to demand the refills be put back and talk to someone higher up who was capable. Then told me I could only get 1 refill back . Luckily im not as dumb as they thought. I worked in retail pharmacy for 5 years. The pharmacist then asked if i had proof of my other failed refill as I replied to as yes yes I do . I even have a chat transcribed email that amazon sends out after we are done chatting thru the chat support. Sure enough the pharmacist can see everything that is clearly in my pharmacy profile . Transition from PillPack to Amazon pharmacy has been a nightmare. Since PillPack is an Amazon Pharmacy, this transition should have been seamless for the customers but it has been anything but seamless. Moving all my prescription from Amazon today. read more

If I could give Amazon Pharmacy negative stars, I would. First, the account structure is a nightmare. When your child or teenager has an Amazon profile, Amazon creates a separate profile for Pharmacy use--automatically. This caused a major mess when my daughter went to college and became an adult. Her graduation gift cards were orphaned in one profile, prescriptions in another, and a third "adult" profile was created when she aged out. It took three customer service teams and over 2.5 hours to fix it. Now the same thing is happening with my son, who needs asthma medication while my husband is traveling. One profile handles shopping, another handles Pharmacy--and guess what? Amazon says this is "as designed." Zero stars. On top of that, his prescription was declined because Amazon submitted the wrong claim. I had to act as the go-between for the doctor and pharmacy, but couldn't get support without a security code sent to my husband's phone (who was out of town). Apparently, Amazon never considered that both parents might need to manage a minor's prescription. Negative Stars If Amazon Pharmacy had just coordinated with the doctor and insurance--like our local pharmacy does--I wouldn't have been stuck on hold, transferred across three teams. Negative Stars HEB is looking better and better. For a company that prides itself on being "customer-centric," Amazon Pharmacy's setup feels like it was built by people who've never actually used it. I had a problem with a medication, so the manufacturer sent a replacement to Amazon. The manufacturer cannot by law dispense drugs. Amazon Pharmacy received it but refuses to send it on to me. They are keeping the drug, valued at $800, and will not send me the drug or refund my money. They have stolen this from me...I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and the insurance won't cover it so it has been stolen directly from me. read more

I have just spent several hours and many phone calls attempting to resolve some issue that Amazon Pharmacy has with filling one of my prescriptions. I have a Co-Pay card that reduces my price from around $1,150 for a 90 day supply (with insurance) to $30/90 day supply. I've used these Co-Pay cards for many years with no issues from local pharmacies. I got as high up the supervisor ladder as I could and was told it is against their policy to call the Pharmaceutical companies or their Co-pay management numbers. I had a direct line and was told that they should be able to resolve the issue if Amazon Pharmacy would call them. Very poor customer service!!! I was not called back or contacted, despite being told that they would several times. Guess I am going to have to wait in the long lines at the local pharmacy. I used the Amazon Pharmacy to fill my prescription. They sent me an opened-cream tube. I called them and requested to send me an unopened cream tube. They sent me another an opened cream tube again. I called them again and they already used up all of the refill (1) only. They want me to call my doctor to put in a refill. My doctor said it's Amazon Pharmacy fault who didn't fulfill my order and use up my refill too. The Amazon Pharmacy refused to fix their mistakes. I ended up trash 2 tubes of prescription cream because they sent me the opened ones. Who has confident to use the cream which are already open? The Amazon Pharmacy is such a fraud who sent me opened products and costed me money, and I have trash them. They are unprofessional and fraud. I will report them to the pharmacy bar association. Amazon pharmacy is convenient if you don't need you Rx in a hurry, but if you want it in less than a week, forget it! Also, don't try to transfer it to a local pharmacy, they don't return calls to pharmacists and make you wait on hold for extremely long times. They specialize in committing fraud and robbing you of your money. My doctor ordered a specific medical device. They sent me an inferior lower generation product, which I cannot use. They refused to take their device back and issue me a refund. If it were a CVS or Walgreens, I could have resolved this locally. As they are internet based, I have no recourse other than accept being robbed of my money because they are backed by Amazon and Jeff Bezos. Avoid at all costs!!! read more

Upon receiving my Amazon Pharmacy order, I noticed there were two bottles short. I called immediately and answered by a mean and rude customer service. She asked me to wait one day to call back. The second day I call they promised to send the missing medication to me again. The third day, they called saying that they have video to prove that they shipped all my medication. Which is not true. In general, Amazon is an amazing company. This DOES NOT apply to Amazon Pharmacy. They are going to kill someone with their incompetence. In my case, they filled a prescription with generic without my approval. This particular generic item is dangerous with a corresponding heart condition due to the strength variance allowed for generic. Amazon refuses to correct their error. Additionally, other prescription prices have skyrocketed with Amazon Pharmacy... over-the-counter full retail is less expensive. Placed my first order with Amazon Pharmacy. Purchased many items from Amazon over the years, so felt like i could trust them with my medications. Boy was I in for a rude awakening. The prescription was for a 90 day supply. Slightly less than other pharmacies, so seemed like a great deal. Imagine my shock to find when I received the order that it was only 30 days, making it 230% more expensive than Walgreens or CVS. What's more, it was the generic and was more expensive than the brand name. Spoke to customer service and was told (nicely); sorry Charlie, to bad so sad. So burn me once, shame on Amazon Pharmacy. The worst pharmacy ever. Pharmacist Sabrina is very unprofessional. They question every drug my doctors call in. It constantly infuriates my dr. They even delete prescriptions they feel need to be removed. I'm not talking about narcotics or scheduled drugs either. I've never dealt with such obnoxious pharmacists anywhere. She even reported my "attitude" to my physician. The same one whose prescriptions she deleted. She even said she had more education than my doctor. Unbelievable. read more

So far I have been really appreciative of and impressed with Amazon Pharmacy. Before I was with CVS and the difference in my experience has been night and day. My husband and I have received outstanding customer service when we needed assistance and my prescriptions have been ready weeks in advance. And when Amazon noticed all on their own that I was going to need a renewal in about 2 months, they contacted my doctor to successfully renew the prescription. And for our medications, the price without insurance through Amazon has been on par/reasonable. Sometimes it's been cheaper to just take Amazon's price instead of the price with our good insurance. My husband and I have been with Amazon Pharmacy for about 6 months and getting our prescriptions has been so stress free thus far; we didn't know we could have this positive of an experience with a pharmacy. They failed to get an Rx transfer from my current pharmacy, nor from my optometrist, so cancelled the transfer. Then I took the time to get a written RX and sent it to the address they have on their site, for mail in prescriptions. Still no Rx because they "can't find my written Rx". Bad, bad, bad Be careful! I've been taking this certain medicine for 10 years and no issues. Blue Cross stopped paying for it this year and I was stuck paying over $1,000/mo if I decided to stay on it. I saw where I could get it on Amazon pharmacy for a fraction of the cost. The blood pressure meds they sent me were from EPIC PHARMA, owned by Humanwell, a Chinese company based in Wuhan, China. I had horrible chest pain, and stroke level blood pressure after taking it. When I contacted Amazon Pharmacy to tell them the issues I had with the medicine, they said it was my fault because I didn't have my doctor specify which manufacturer. No pharmacy has ever asked which manufacturer I use Be careful, this is dangerous! No accountability! No refund! No concern for your health. read more

If they are the only ones with access to your medication, you're in trouble. Over a week waiting for the $1300 REFRIGERATED medication script to be ready to be fulfilled and THEN one problem after the next spending hours every day to resolve. Insurance DENIED my prescription because some Amazon GENIUS orderd 4 times the quantity so I had to start OVER. That's just the BEGINNING. The call center is uneducated and quote the wrong things. They also just repeat the same vague nonsense over and over hoping you'll hang up. (I was quoted ONE injectable pen was shipped instead of the ONE BOX it should have been only to find out hours later they did ship the BOX). ON HOLD 2 HOURS for "a pharmacist". With a thick accent, not following the conversation, sounding like in a tunnel and you have to repeat yourself 10 times. I actually spent 4 hours yesterday on the phone with them because of dosing/shipping errors quoted and the chill box issues and them not being able to tell me where the med was at any time. The tracking system you see is innacurate. They also upload info way after the fact. The tracking system gets "updated" falsely. They just replace one data point with a new one with no history of the prior data. To satisfy their own metrics because for example, changing the fullfillment. A chill box is only good for 47 hours. So 5:45PM "Filled and Shipped" gets changed to "9:00 Filled and Shipped" gets changed to the next day "11 AM Filled and Shipped" so you have NO IDEA AT ALL if your medication was sitting on a 100 degree truck for a whole extra day or not. Then you call and they deny what you see/saw on your OWN SCREEN. THEN, UPS doesn't update the tracking and give you an error message "no data available" until two days later when they DUMP two days worth of tracking onto the screen. DON'T USE THEM FOR LIFESAVING MEDS! As of RIGHT NOW, my chill pack medication has been sitting in a UPS facility in my OWN NEIGHBORHOOD for over a full day! Day TWO of "Filled and Shipped" which they say the box is good for 47 hours. read more

Stay away from these people!! Their systems have too many bugs! Sent them an Rx for Ozempic, which they claimed on the phone to have in stock. Order was processed and we were sent a note giving us delivery date. Health plan was charged and paid. Order was then claimed to be arriving a few days late. Then a note that they didn't have the item. BUT they are unable to reverse the transaction, making it impossible for me to get the drug from a different pharmacy, as the health plan won't cover it. Several hours of calls to Amazon and health plan led to "explanation" that they have a system problem and need to send a "ticket" to tech support to resolve the issue. In meantime, I'm not able to get the drug -- unless I pay full price for it $1,000. No way I'm going to go back! Also, no way to determine your copay/cost without first transferring Rx to them. All the pills they sent were enormous. I've never had a problem swallowing pills, but these get stuck in your throat. I think they use cheap generics. It's convenient to get delivery through the mail, but I'm switching back to my pharmacy to get better quality. It's not Amazon's normal return policy either. Stuck with a 90 day supply. Just got off of an hour call with amazon pharmacy. Multiple accounts, 5 days worth of online blunders. Prescriptions lost, poor or no explanation of benefits and/ or coverage. I will loose this service as soon as possible and issue complaints to anyone within my organization as often as possible. I had my prescription on auto refill. The program they use ordered it early resulting in my insurance denning it so they sent it to me any way costing me $85.00 instead of my $10.00 copay. I've called twice already but they say it's my fault because I ordered to early needless to say they they won't admit the mistake or give me my money back.
