Very disappointed. Unprofessional and unpleasant experience. At dinner last night a table near us was joined by a waitress/staff from the restaurant. They were SO loud laughing, screaming, yelling, and kids running around the restaurant that our entire party of 6 couldn't hear a word of our own conversations, enjoy our meal etc. The waitress was aware that our party was being disrupted and she continued to engage in unprofessional behavior. Sitting with the guest looking at a phone laughing and screaming. This lasted for over 40 minutes. The chopped steak turned out to be a $30 hamburger, literally No kids options! Chicken tender plate $18! Menu very limited. The bathroom smelled of urine and was not clean. Dollar tree valentines decorations fill the restaurant. For the price and wait....... Ridiculous. I'm amazed places like this still exist. It is truly like walking into an episode of kitchen nightmares. If you like super salty prime rib with zero ambiance, this is the place. But It's better to drive 30 minutes to the neighboring town than spend your hard earned money here. The bathroom was horrendous. A LITERAL wooden fence with graffiti all over. The decor leaves much to be desired. You walk into the building into a dark brick maze. It opens up to a large brick room with wooden fencing? There's some nice but antique floral glass lamps. The waitstaff are kind and helpful but wearing red scrubs? There's a railroad track above me but I never see a railroad train. Our table area is so dark everyone had to turn on their phone flashlights. The prime rib is basically the only thing made in house. The salmon, chicken tenders, and fries are fine, frozen and reheated. The salad bar is fine if you like iceberg. read more

The Food is always amazing , get there early they open at 5 but they are wrapped around the building . The steaks you can cut with a butter knife . The meat is aged to perfection .. The potatoes are soft and creamy inside .. The Salad bar is always fresh and restocked every few minutes . The staff is amazing . The Ambiance is Dim lit if you and wanting to go on a romantic date that wouldn't disappoint.. When asked at special occasions where I want to go this is always my go to ! I've been waiting for 1 and a half hours for a table. Now I'm being told it's another hour wait. Really? It's 8:30 pm and a little late to go looking for another place to eat. The food better be awesome at this place. Finally seated after more than 2 hour wait. Waitress informs us that there is no prime rib and no baked potatoes. Okay. We order ribeyes and sweet potatoes. Food comes out half hour later. Not rib eyes. And with French fries. I don't spend $33 on a meal with French fries. They are out of sweet potatoes. We package our steak to take home where I will hopefully season it and salvage it somehow. The restaurant did generously adjust the bill and apologized. We felt so bad for the waitress that we left her a generous tip making our meal pretty expensive for something we did not get to enjoy. read more

So let me get to the food!! I ordered the ribeye, and you can get your choice of potato and the salad bar. The ingredients on the salad bar were fresh and my salad was delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly. Anything you wanted to put in your baked potato, you could get from the salad bar (except for sour cream). Have been here many times and decided to go again. Went on Saturday night and knew there would be a crowd. We arrived about 20 minutes before the opened. A crowd of about 50 were waiting in line for the doors to open. We got seated promptly and our waitress was on top of things and took our order. The salad bar is well stocked and excellent. We all ordered large prime rib, 2 ordered medium rare and 1 ordered medium. They were cooked to perfection. We took some home for later as we were very satisfied with the taste and quality as well as quantity of each steak. Since moving back to this area of NC, a lot of people have recommended The Woodshed, claiming they have the best steaks in Gaston Co. This could not be further from the truth. Tonight my friends invited me to meet them there for dinner. I got there at 5pm and the line had at least 30 people already waiting. Fortunately my friends had secured a table for us. Unfortunately we had to ask for a wet cloth to wipe the stickiness off of the table. Our server was very polite and attentive; and we didn't wait long for our food. The salad bar was nothing special, but the dressing tasted homemade. My baked potato was really good, but the "butter" they had on the table was not what I consider butter. I don't eat red meat often but when I do I try to have something worth eating so I ordered the prime rib. BIG mistake! The only positive thing I can say is it was the right portion size. It looked med rare which is what I ordered, but it was so tough and chewy I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. Those 2 bites took forever to cut small enough for me to eat without choking. Our server offered to bring me another steak but I declined. She also offered me another plate for more salad and she removed the steak from our bill. Always wanted to go there, I wished we didn't waste our time or money. We order fried pickles that were so thin and over cooked we could have played hockey with them. My wife ordered beef tips well done, Yes I know well done and there is a difference between well done and burnt, hers were burnt, I order prime rib medium and it was medium rare, but I could tolerate that and eat some of it. we talked to the waitress and she let us order a filet cooked medium for my wire to take home and I had to show the waitress how the steak was mooing because I could tell by the way it wiggled it was rare, steak is cooked rare, medium rare, medium, medium well and well. sorry woodshed you will never see us their again, and we will sure tell everyone of our experience. read more

This is still the best prime rib and salad bar in all of Gaston County! I have not had better and yes it tops the prime rib at Webbs Kitchen! The place does need a updating but the food and service cant be topped! Always get both the mushroom gravy and the horseradish sauce both! ENJOY!I read more

This was one of the most disturbing dining experiences I've ever had. Upon entering the restaurant you are immediately hit with the stench of mold. The place has not been updated or cleaned in 50 years. It was dark, dingy, sticky and we were seated at a table next to a dishwashing cleaning station. The rib eye was decent but nothing special. The filet mignon was flavorless. The baked potato comes with nothing on it and I was told I could go to salad bar for extra toppings. They did bring a tube of sour cream. Even though people rave about the salad bar it was minimal at best. This place is one step above chuck wagon or ponderosa. The mens bathroom was comparable to an old concrete bath house. I want my $100 back. This place is horrific and should be shut down. read more

The building has an interesting inviting look as you walk in the decor is out dated but friendly faces are everywhere you look. Our server was super sweet and made us feel welcomed right away. We felt the menu was a little on the pricey side but figured for quality food it would be worth it. Boy were we wrong. I ordered a large cut rib eye and my wife ordered a small portion steak tips. They do not offer specific sizes just large or small. We could not have been more disappointed in our food. The steak was flavorless and cooked terribly. My medium rare rib eye was still cold in the middle. Half of my wife's medium steak tips were also cold. My baked potato was burnt on the skin and my wife's French fries were barely cooked and extremely soggy. We left feeling disappointed. Decided to head home and make our own dinners.
