Appetizers - Classic Caesar Salad (top), Sea Scallops (left), Grilled Octopus (right)
    Gordon Y.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 5 Overall: 6 Let me start by saying that Amber Steakhouse does not compare to some of the best steak houses in Manhattan simply because they are using an inferior prouct. Instead of prime grade 28+ days dry aged beef like most of its competitors, they are offering Angus choice quality beef dry aged for only 21 days. With that said, their prices are slightly lower than Manhattan restaurants. Our 48oz porterhouse is about 3/4 the price of the most famous steak houses in the city. At the same time, it costs more than Peter Luger in Brooklyn, so not such a great deal after all? Considering it's choice grade, I would say value is not quite there. I rather pay a bit more for quality. Three of us shared a medium rare porterhouse recently. It had a nice seared crust, but was a little bit under seasoned. The other issue is that there was a large ring of brown underneath the crust, while the center of the steak was still pretty rare. It wasn't a bad steak, especially for the price. However, the question is would I rather pay more and eat a better quality steak? I think the answer is "Yes". As for the appetizers and sides, I enjoyed the smoky grilled octopus and the tender scallops. However, the Caesar salad was really weird, with a sauce that tasted more like Russian dressing. Our side of sautéed mushroom & spinach was decent, but the portion size is tiny for the price. Anyway, if you're looking for a decent steak house with reasonable prices, this may be a good option. However, don't come here if you're searching for the best steak in the city. For that, I recommend spending a little more for a better steak house.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is very close to our apartment. It is a go to dinner spot. It has a cozy feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The steak is very fresh and filling. It is seasoned very well and melts in your mouth with a buttery finish. The appetizers are all very good. The fried calamari is fried to perfection and is served with a sauce that is a perfect touch. The mussels come with a good portion and are in a garlic broth. The bacon is a must get, It is so juicy. The staff is very efficient and get your order quickly and the food comes out just as fast if you are looking for a nice dinner out for steak this is the spot.

I wanted to have steak before our concert that was nearby. I'm so glad I came to Amber! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a traditional steakhouse and the moment you step in you smell the delicious aroma of buttered steak.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was top -notch. Extremely attentive and nice. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and they even make their own steakhouse. I also judge a steakhouse by their baked potato and they did not disappoint. It was baked perfectly and fluffy. They also have many other items on the menu. Their martinis were good too! I highly recommend Amber!

Too many tendons and gristle in our cut. For the amount spent, it's essentially robbery. The burger was an absolute mess. Was looking forward to Amber, but will gladly go to any other steakhouse.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing place for a date night or a family gathering at a white cloth restaurant! Definitely fancy and old school I really enjoyed coming here before and now I came here for more![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I remember enjoying their scallop appetizer with avocado mashed potatoes which was super creamy. This time I ordered the mussels and it did not disappoint. All of the mussels had no dirt or sand at all and the red sauce was divine. I also ordered the arugula salad with pear and it was sweet and salty and perfectly done! I'm a big salad fan and also my partner isn't into onions but they have really thin sliced ones so it won't really be as noticeable. The steaks were incredible- the filet Mignon was super buttery and rich. We also got the ribeye and that was super tasty as well. Funnily enough we ordered some pickles with it which were good but just placing it out here it was $10 for a side of pickles. I the crème brûlée to finish the meal off and it was gigantic and the torched top of it was really crispy and the cream inside was yummy and fresh. Espresso is $5. Everything came speedily and service was really nice and I appreciated the servers as they made sure we were well accommodated. All in all this is one of my favorite places to take my dates and friends and family.

My husband took me here for Valentine's Day dinner and it was quite a surprise. A solid steakhouse outside of Manhattan. Located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Parking can be tough. There's street and metered parking. We ordered 1/2 dozen oysters and a salad to share. The oysters were very fresh. For entrees, we both ordered the bone-in ribeyes and it was a perfectly cooked medium rare with a nice char all around. For sides, we had the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. I wish the sides were a little bigger. The mash potatoes were good but the creamed spinach was just okay. They also had a good wine list.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a beautiful place, vintage look.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was great she gave us recommendations and was able to accommodate my food selection with my dietary needs. The food came out promptly and delicious . Definitely recommend the scallops in avocado mashed potatoes, sooooo good.

Came here for Valentine's Day and place was poppin. I definitely recommend making reservations for the holidays because during prime time dinner hours there were no empty tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is pretty small and doesnt allow much space between the tables, but that is probably because they split out more tables for two for Valentine's Day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hostess greeted us at the door and we were quickly shown to our table. The meal started with some warm onion bread and butter. Nothing special but warm bread is always nice. We had the scallops with avocado mash potatoes and that is a must have dish. The scallops were perfectly cooked and you can split them with a fork. The truffle sauce was a bit sweet but everything worked really well together. The french onion soup was standard but not really something I would order again. For the mains we ordered the bone-in ribeye and rack of lamb. Going to a high-end steakhouse you already expect the meats to be delicious and Amber's does not disappoint. The lamb chops were really tender and the chimichurri sauce compliments it well. The ribeye had a beautiful char but I wish it was seasoned a tad more. Creamed spinach was flavorful and the bacon mac and cheese can be a main dish by itself. Overall, dinner at Amber Steakhouse was a great experience. The staff was attentive and removed finished plates quickly and refilled drinks once they were getting low. I definitely do not regret coming here but at the same time it wasn't amazing enough that I think I would come back given the plethora of steakhouse options in NYC.

I had a great experience at Amber Steakhouse, I haven't tried any of the other iconic NYC steakhouses so I don't have any other steakhouse to compare it to but I chose Amber as the prices are slightly more affordable than Peter Luger and they had a few more unique menu options for a traditional steakhouse. They also were super accommodating as I had called last minute on NYE to see if they had any tables earlier in the day, they were able to schedule me in + accommodate as much they could because I had my baby with me. The servers were top notch, very attentive and hospitable. They took my coat for me, made a spot for my stroller and even assisted on coming in and out the restaurant with the stroller which was wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were a few other children in the restaurant so it is children friendly but still a quiet, calm environment[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only awkward thing is I had to put my stroller on the other side of the table so essentially I had to hold my baby while I ate instead of having her next to me in the stroller but understandable because I was in the walkthrough area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Arugula salad was a 9/10, it was light and slightly sweet and the cheese complimented the sweetness of the apples perfectly and the pepperiness of the arugula. T-Bone Steak: 8.5/10 it was delicious especially with the steak sauce, the steak had a great char the fat was rendered and crispy only downside was I asked for medium rare and I got more of a medium well but this is typical of most restaurants so I wasn't that disappointed but for a steakhouse you'd think they would be masters at cooking to the desired internal temperature. Scallop entree 8/10: instead of doing a traditional side I just got the scallop entree as my side the waiter was a little confused by that lol but I didn't want to load up on carbs + was craving scallops and the entree scallops sounded better than the appetizer scallop dish. The scallop entree was honestly wonderful, scallops had a Smokey flavor from the bacon, the bacon was perfectly crispy and the asparagus with the sauce paired perfectly. Lastly not pictured was the oysters 9/10 Oysters were Blue Point oysters, they were delicious the platter came with all the accoutrements (cocktail sauce, hot sauce, mignonette including freshly grated horseradish. I personally love a more briny oyster they were a hit for me especially with the horseradish. I personally will have to try the other popular steakhouses in NYC and Brooklyn to compare my meal at Amber to so I can accurately judge where they stand in terms of taste and quality but I enjoyed my meal and time at Amber and everything I ordered was delicious, it was a great way to end the year!

Wow! I was blown away by the food, ambience, and service at this gem of a find. Since we were celebrating my birthday, we really went for it and indulged. For appetizers, we knew we had to get the home cured bacon that is insane in every best way possible. It tasted like the best ham I have ever had and was a huge hit. We also shared the fried calamari, which was lightly coated in a delightful breading and served with a tomato sauce and a wasabi cream sauce that has a nice zing to it. We also had the scallops in a Madeira wine sauce over avocado mashed potatoes. The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection, the mashed so creamy and unique, and the Madeira sauce a nice sweet pairing to complement and tie all the flavors together. For dinner, my friend and I both had the steak and shrimp scampi special, however, he got the ribeye eye and I chose the filet mignon. Both were medium rare and from what our two friends said, we seemed really happy as we both were silent for a few minutes because it was just so very good. We ordered both roasted potatoes with caramelized onions and mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and gnocchi. My other friend chose the steak sandwich which was plentiful, to the say the least, and divine. Lastly, another friend ordered the Chilean Sea-bass and raved about it. We shared crème brûlée for dessert and it was good, very creamy with the most excellent crack of the sugar from pristine crystallization.

Finally was able to make it to Ambers after seeing many reviews on tic-tok. The Food was on point. Service Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Porterhouse for Two- 5 My favorite cut of steak, soft and chewy Fliet, with an equally soft and delicate Tenderloin. Lobster Mac & Cheese- 5 real lobster not some imitation like you get at some places, creamy and filling. Mash Potatoes- 4 Fluffy and Creamy Creamy Spinach- 4 Not much cream but the flavors are captivating

I treated myself to a lovely dinner for Valentine's Day weekend and I'm glad I chose Amber steakhouse. The service here was nothing short of amazing. Greeted once walking in. Chair pulled out by my waiter. Told about all the specials and best recommendations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance gave a cute Italian cottage feel which I loved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The raspberry peach margarita was a must very well made refreshing and just the right amount of tequila. The fried calamari was also good the sauces they were paired with was a perfect match. The steak sandwich was flavorful but I did feel it could've been more steak inside it was mainly bread the fried were really good. The shrimp scampi was pretty good I just wish it had just alil more salt. Besides that I will definitely be back to try more of the menu I highly recommend.

We went Saturday 10/18 - 8 pm reservation for our 4th wedding anniversary and we can't wait for the next reason to come back . [[HIGHLIGHT]]No crowd at all it was wonderful ,the atmosphere was quaint and quiet . Just enough to hear the person at your table[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Andrzej was our server , he was attentive enough to know when we needed him and when we didn't and that was something we love at establishments, so this was a plus . Especially since it was our anniversary and the table talk was that important. We started with the following drinks . And let me tell you the bartender did not disappoint. I had a French martini and I never had one and it was delicious , not too sweet and I'm not a raspberry girl but it was amazing . The hint of vanilla was amazing , I'd definitely order it again . My husband has Raspberry peach margarita , I would've liked it without raspberry but also delicious. Second round Peach cosmo , wasn't a fan too sweet just my taste but it was a good drink . Lynchburg's lemonade was almost like a Jack Daniel's Lemonade and it got the spot , so refreshing and not skimped on the alcohol either. Drinks service 10/10 Next was appetizers Caesar salad , now I read the reviews and still gave it a try and they were right . It has a hint of Russian dressing to it , was not a fan & probably wouldn't order it again . Didn't give the traditional taste to me . Calamari , yea give me 10 of them ,add some banana peppers and we got a deal . They were airy and light and the batter was delicious. Grilled bacon - This was a game changer for me , I'm going to need to order two next time . Yes that good , Smokey flavor and that sauce that came with it paired so well . Entree Porterhouse for two grilled to a perfection of medium rare , it was amazing. We made sure to take the bone home to our dog The char was perfection , it was sore tender even the day after We paired them with the lobster mac and cheese which was so tender juicy and decadent. And the roasted potatoes with onion and peppers , it gave off home fries vibes and I was not a fan . I expected roasted potatoes in half maybe with the skin still on. We ended the night with crème brûlée which had a faint hint of lemon that I was not a fan of and tossed the traditional taste out the window and the espresso ice cream which was decadent and delicious . The service was 10/10 Overall meal withe nuances 9/10 I'm definitely coming back !

We had made reservations for the kitchen counter seats. Thinking we would be able to watch the masters at work. However, the seating is too low and you cannot see into the kitchen. So there's that. The service was really lovely. Constantly checking in for more water or if we needed anything. We started off with their Mezcal cocktail, which my husband loved. And I had a flight of sake. I wasn't in love with any of them. But they were all palatable. We shared the Shishido peppers which were absolutely amazing. Highly recommended. We asked for some soy sauce on the side and find that an occasional dip of the pepper really brings out the flavor. We also shared the Wagyu Tataki. The presentation is lovely as it is for all the dishes. However, I found it slightly chewy. But the accompaniments were outstanding. We also shared a 14 ounce 30 day dry aged New York strip. Presented beautifully. Cooked perfectly medium rare. Accompaniments and sauces. Also terrific. However, we did not find that the steak had any actual flavor. But it was smooth and easy to chew. The espresso machine was broken, bummer. But we had a pot of tea and their warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Delicious.

The restaurant itself has a modern, chic décor with a lively but moderate noise level. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions with confidence, and did an amazing job matching our preferences with the perfect food and drink recommendations. Her service was exceptional from beginning to end. We started with the pita and hummus, and you could immediately tell everything was made from scratch. The pita was warm and fresh, the hummus was incredibly smooth and flavorful, and you could truly see and taste the quality. For dinner, we had the burger with the house chips. Both were excellent, and I especially loved the herb mayonnaise that came with the chips. I didn't even realize it was mayonnaise at first because it was so fresh and flavorful! We also shared the Caesar salad, which was delicious. The next morning, we came back for breakfast and ordered the Jerusalem bagel with egg and cheese. A huge shoutout to Sam for making our visit so memorable. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in the area to explore more of the menu and, hopefully, have Sam as our server again!

This is not the city for Mexican food, I do not care who tries to sway me. It simply. Does not. Work. The trend continues at this tiny cantina in Dyker Heights. I paid $40 for mediocrity, maybe even a step or two below it. The staff is friendly and cute, and speaking Spanish will get you further, but the food drops off significantly after the promising chips and dip. When I ordered the Queso Fundido, I was looking forward to a sharp Mexican blend with ground chorizo and some extra chips to boot. Instead I got what looked like blended Oaxaca cheese, an onion top, and some very unattractive bits of chorizo that were begging me not to eat them. So I did not. I ate the cheese because the cheese was pleasant, but the fact it comes with flour tortillas does not help its cause. When I ordered the Tortilla Soup, I was hoping for a nice blend of Mexican spices, shredded chicken, avocado, and tortilla strips. While I did get that, I also got bland flavors and a lack of any personality with the soup. In fact, it had a weird, milky, creamy broth that made me feel uncomfortable about finishing it. So I did not. When I ordered the fish tacos, I was expecting a nice piece of fresh fish, plenty of spicy pico, and an aoli to round out the whole thing. The breading for the fish is a tempura breading (bad call), and the fish they use is tilapia (an even worse call). I understand that this is not San Diego, but these two pieces of fish were practically begging me to put them out of their misery so I could send them packing for the Golden State at a later time. I duly complied. As I walked out I continued to wonder. Will this city ever get it right with a cuisine I hold close to my heart? Because right now, the future is looking bleak. At least my food was spared from further torture.

It was our first time trying the lobster dish - delicious and fresh. The baked dish tasted too burnt.
