Limited expensive menu. Shortened hours of operation. Dark inside. Nothing scenic about being on a busy road

I've been to a few Cooper's Hawk locations over the years. One thing I've come to appreciate about…read moreCooper's Hawk is the consistency - the location may change, but the experience rarely does. Burr Ridge location has the same upscale atmosphere as others. It was busy and lively for a Tuesday night. We started with the Sweet Chili Calamari and Crab, Shrimp & Lobster Bisque. The bisque was really rich and flavorful. The calamari was fine, although not among the best I've had. For entrées, we went with the Prime Churrasco Grilled Steak and Jambalaya. The steak was tasty and flavorful, but the jambalaya continues to be one of my Cooper's Hawk favorites. We also tried a red wine flight and Prosecco, and finished with crème brûlée. They were all pretty good and rounded out an enjoyable evening. Our server was friendly and attentive - drinks arrived on time, she checked back on our food, and did it all with a smile. The only downside was that she did not seem to have too much knowledge about the drinks. Would I return to the Burr Ridge location? Absolutely, but that's almost beside the point. I'd happily return to Cooper's Hawk regardless of the location. After visiting several of them, the consistently good food, lively atmosphere, wine, and friendly service are what keep bringing me back.

I would give 6 stars if I could. This is casual fine dining. We were greeted by the owner, Steven…read moreas we entered. Area is clean, well maintained, and the staff is excellent. As you enter there is a small dining area with a grand piano. Piano player on Fridays and Saturdays. Down a short hall is the bar area with 5 high top tables. Then there is the patio, which I have to say, looks very inviting for when it is not 100 degrees with high humidity. Oh yes, the food . . . outstanding ~ southern Italian with very generous portions. The meatball appetizer and a salad would have made a meal, but that's not why you are here. We went with the chicken parm and chicken Limone. Delicious and plenty to take home for at least one additional meal. Can't forget dessert. Make sure to save room ~ gelato and vanilla cheesecake (flavor changes) were probably some of the best I've ever had. If you cannot tell, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning. It has earned every award that it has received.

Saw my favorite waiter Rich and said hello. Angie took care of us last night, she was friendly and engaging. They were short-staffed unexpectedly so we were patient during our dining experience. We started with cocktails and I was happy to revisit the leatherneck, which I had on my previous visit. I added a sugared rim and it was perfection. The highlights of our dining experience were the brie with caramelized walnuts & honey, my husband's pappardelle dinner, and the tiramisu. The owner Steve came by the table a few times to talk to us. We met him the first time we dined at Dolce. It's evident that he cares about his customers and his business, and who doesn't love a little attention from the owner? If you dine at Dolce, save room for the tiramisu. It's so light and creamy.

It seems that more and more places, like Aunt D's, are popping up around the SW burbs. Places that…read moreopen for the sole purpose of video gaming. I did realize this was one of them when I told my friends, 'hey, lets check out this new wine bar', since the sign outside said 'wine bar'. It really is a strip mall gaming storefront, more than a bar. There is a bar inside, but then the rest of it feels like a sad little casino, except not that nice. They had an area in the front, with several slot machines. They had about 10 short tables of 4 in the back, to play bingo. They had god-awful vegas carpeting on the floor. There was no music playing. The place had a smell to it. I met friends at 5:30, hoping to enjoy a few glasses of wine and catch up. They had a wine menu and a drink menu, but their liquor selection looked sparse. Also, the bartender had to pull out the printed recipes in order to make any of the martinis they had - which were not good, trust me! She made my friend her martini, but accidentally used grenadine instead of pineapple juice? WTF?? They don't have a kitchen, but they did have a crockpot of homemade meatballs, for their bingo meatball special - $5.00 gets you a meatball sandwich, chips, and a cookie. We finished our not well made drinks and decided to go somewhere else. If you are looking to play slot machines, I guess I'd tell you to check this place out. But really, every single restaurant and bar you go to in the SW burbs has them, so this place is really nothing special.
