Ambient Expert HVAC replaced two old furnaces in my apartment building located in the Rockridge area of Oakland. The units were located in the attic and the duct work was old and not well insulated because they were over 30 years old. I called several companies and Adam from Ambient Expert HVAC responded quickly and professionally. He made suggestions on the project and his price was reasonable compared to the other companies who bid on the project. Adam removed all of the old furnaces and duct work and installed new Carrier High Efficiency Heaters (95% efficient) and placed all the new insulated duct work for the cold air returns and supply lines. The 3rd party company who did the duct leak test gave complements to Adam as the ducts had a very low number and passed the Title 24 testing with plenty of margin. Adam also installed the new wi-fi enabled thermostats (Honeywell T5+ Smart Thermostat). The Building Permit process was also easy as well as the final inspection by the City of Oakland. We probably had a relatively small project compared to their larger projects, but they still took our job and concerns seriously. We had them them come out to relocate a dryer vent and piping in our laundry room to a new place in laundry room floor and through the basement to the outside of home. All around great service. We called Andre to look at our heater that stopped working suddenly. After inspecting things, he gave us a thorough explanation of the issue and what needed to be done to fix it. The heater was pretty old and he needed to hunt down a replacement part. They installed a new furnace and adjusted the ducts. Good price on a solid Carrier high efficiency system. Set it up so we can add AC later if needed. Came back a week later after we used it for a bit and needed some adjustment. Referred then to a friend who had a broken furnace and had gotten a $1500 quote from one of the bigger companies who also gave her the hard sell on replacement. They charged her $100 for the service call even though she had them install a $10k AC unit a few months ago. Adam from Ambient went up and diagnosed the issue was t that bad and fixed it in the spot for a small fraction of their price. Can I give 6 stars?? Blazing heat for the bay area, two power shut downs from PG&E and a week's worth of migraines later, my A/C decides to act up.
