There aren't many sandwich places in the area besides quiznos, blimpies and subway. And I was happy to find this one. Its a small sandwich shop but they have a lot to offer. They only have a few tables maybe 6 or so. I always get the Tuna Diet sandwich. it is soooo delicious. It has sprouts and avocado which are definitely a plus in my book, because I have this great love for sprouts in my sandwiches. I'm all about the different textures! I've heard great things about this sandwich shop, end it was pretty yummy. The two women working there were very quick to get my sandwich out and ready. Which is perfect because I only had a 45 minute lunch. One thing that I was dissatisfied about was how small the actual sandwich bread was. Been coming here for years because it's near my office in San Dimas and a nice alternative to Subway. Sure, the prices might seem a little high and the customer service leaves a little to be desired, but I still go here every so often. I usually get a small pastrami and cheese, which is delicious but could definitely use more mustard and pickles (I just add mustard back at the office). And the small (called "regular") seems especially small because they slice it in half, making it look even smaller. But it is quite tasty, and this is really the only place near enough to my work where I can pick up a pastrami sandwich. Today I opted for a tuna sandwich on wheat because I had been craving one. Theirs is really good! They pack on a lot of tuna salad, along with lettuce and tomato (I omitted on mine). The tuna is tasty, not too "fishy". They mix it with mayo, relish and a tiny bit of chopped egg. Mmm! I think that egg is what must make it taste so good. The regular size is very filling and, with a bag of chips, cost me $6.10 total. I was looking for a sandwich spot I haven't tried and found this place on yelp. Parking was avaible no problem. It looks similar to a dounut shop. Plain and simple. Nothing fancy. I ordered a cheese and avacado sandwich. I asked the owner if the avacado was slices of avacado or mush avacado. She said real avacado. When I got my sandwich it was mush avacado but at least it didn't taste like fake avacado. The roll was fresh and the cheese was good. They have a pretty small menu. For some reason I thought they would serve coffee here, they don't. Just soda and tea. Honestly I'm not sure if I would go out of my way to go here. Togo's makes a similar sandwich that's a little bit tastier. Maybe next time I'll try their teriyaki dishes. As someone mention in another review, the owner is not so friendly. I'm not asking for a big production. But, she could seem a little bit happier instead of just blah. She didn't say hi when I walked in or if she could help me. Ambro's is a great local business that came highly recommended by my coworkers and didn't disappoint. I have yet to have the teriyaki (which is the only thing one of my coworkers gets and loves) but have had sandwiches a few times now. I usually go with the Ambro's California with turkey, bacon, avocado and Swiss cheese. The veggies are always cold and fresh tasting and the bacon is perfectly crispy. The service is quick and efficient, and the sandwiches are a step above your run of the mill sandwich chain. My favorite sandwich shop in the San Dimas area! This little mom-and-pop shop is a gem and keeps me coming back every week! The menu is simple, service is great, and the fresh ingredients really make these sandwiches pop! I am addicted to the Tuna Diet ($4.99 for 6" or $5.99 for 10"). This sandwich is served on a French Roll and comes with a generous portion of their tuna salad, sprouts, cucumber, avocadoes, & tomatoes. The tuna salad is really good and doesn't have that mayo after taste that most tuna salads do. The cucumbers and sprouts add a great texture and make the sandwich "feel healthy". Also - they do not stiff you on the avocado portions! They use avocado slices and do not use avocado paste like other main stream sandwich shops do! I don't understand how this place can be rated so high. I always thought that nothing could be worse than Subway for a sandwich, well I was WRONG, Ambro's is the worst sandwich shop I have ever visited or even heard of. I ordered a 6" pastrami W/cheese and a water. I paid $8 bucks, which was fine at the time. I then receive a tiny brown bag (about the size you get in a liquor store with a tall boy in it) with even a smaller item inside, about the size if a hot dog. I get back to the office and open the small white wrapped sandwich. I was looking at the worlds most pathetic looking excuse for a sandwich that I ever laid eyes on. I do not mind paying the asking price for food, but seriously this sandwich should be $2 bucks. I am still in awe that a business would even serve this. Had I know what I would have received here I would have went to The Hat and got 4 times more the sandwich for $2 bucks more. I WILL NEVER GO BACK... TOTAL RIP OFF.... Came here for a quick bite. Amber's Subs is unassuming, bare minimum location. No frills here. Service was good from the lady I ordered from. I ordered the Tuna Melt on sourdough bread. The bread was crispy and warm and cheese melted, but the tuna salad itself was cold toward the middle. A bit too much mayo. Not an amazing sandwich, but satisfying enough for food on the go and basic. Their other sandwiches with fresh ingredients looked better and probably are quite good. Their California sandwich is everything you want: turkey, cheese, Mayo, mustard, shredded lettuce , tomatoes and crispy bacon with Italian dressing over it. I went there this afternoon and I already want to go back. I dont know what it is about this place but these sandwiches are just the bees frikkin knees. They are hands down my favorite sandwiches, the ambros "famous" one in particular. It sounds like a normal sandwich in terms of ingredients, but I think its just the quality of the ingredients that puts it over the edge. You'd have to have a screw loose to choose subway period, but to choose it when you have this place around is just dumb. Its the same prices and phenomenally better than that assembly line driven shit pile. If you have ever had a sandwich, if you like sandwiches, if you go to subway, you owe it to yourself to try this place, seriously. BEST. SANDWICHES. EVER. At least - to me. I started going to Ambros when I use to work in the area. My favorite sandwich of all has to be the Ambros Famous, which is one of their specialty sandwiches. It has turkey, ham, roast beef and avocado, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes on a fresh French roll. It's oh so good! Once you have one of their sandwiches, I don't think you will EVER want to go back to eating at Subways, Quizno's or Blimpie's. Price wise, they are little more pricey than say, your typical Subway or Quizno's. The 6 inch Ambro's Famous is $5.29. For a dollar more you can get a 10 inch for $6.29. Believe me, it is worth every penny!! Ambro's also serves a large variety of hot/cold sandwiches, burgers, and teriyaki bowls/plates, KOREAN BBQ, salads and soups. In a city full of fast food chains, I am especially thankful for Ambro's. I probably eat here almost once a week, and alternate between the tuna diet and the California. The tuna sandwich is provides a guilt-free lunch, in addition to being a tasty sandwich. Before this sandwich, I was never a fan of tuna... until now. And the California is meaty goodness. Nice little hole in the wall deli in a strip mall between a donut shop and a Mexican place. We were originally headed to the Mexican place but they had stopped serving breakfast so in to Ambro's, next door. It's tiny, maybe 5 small tables. Mostly a deli style menu but also burgers and a few Korean dishes, reflecting the owner's ethnicity. I had a basic roast beef, turkey and provolone sandwich on a French roll. Very tasty, savory, and the bread was about perfect. My wife had a teriyaki chicken bowl which she enjoyed. Not a lot of atmosphere, no a/c, but a lot of old National Geographics to thumb through while you eat. Summing up, great food in a bare-bones setting at a great price. If the dining room is not to your liking, take your food to go and have a picnic at one of the many nice parks nearby. read more

First off, i need to say how sweet the lady is that always takes our order. She is so kind and such a delight every time we walk into her shop. .. and the sandwiches are really great and very reasonably priced. My usual order I believe it's called "the diet" veggie sandwich with Swiss cheese, avocado, alfalfa, and the rest of the usual fixins is really delicious, and the bread/roll is fresh. My husband usually changes it up in what he orders, but he has loved everything so far. The location is unassuming in a tiny shopping center on the corner of Arrow and San Dimas Ave. We didn't even know it was there until a few years ago when we were googling for deli places. But since then, Ambro's is always our go to place every time we're craving a deli sandwich near our home. They also have other food items other than sandwiches. I believe they serve a few Asian dishes and other items but i really can't remember what they are at the moment. I've driven past this little place, located in a small center at the corner of Arrow Highway and San Dimas Avenue so many times, I can't believe I missed it.
