    Inside the diner
    Christine C.

Food was great and was a good portion for me and my fiancé. I was craving waffles that's why me and my fiancé decided to eat here for breakfast. Lighting inside could be better, we ate at around 10am and yet it was fairly dark inside. If you're someone like me that needs good lighting and good ambiance then maybe you will feel the same. The place kind of gave me some allergies cause it felt dusty inside, it smelled old too cause it is obviously vintage but that didn't help with my allergies. Overall the food was good!

It is a good place, went there for breakfast and wasn't busy seated where the counter is cause hostess says it's faster. I noticed at the register which is cool school cash only so suggest bring over $20 cash each person or pay the fees using the ATM at other side. The combo bacon and eggs came in good timing and taste. Hash browns were crispy why I like it and has an option regular or seasoned. When I'm around again I'll remember the cash only. Servers were nice.

We ordered take out through Grub Hub. I ordered the breakfast bagel sandwich and got it on toast instead of the bagel. I also asked for cottage cheese instead of hash browns but got hash browns instead. The pancakes were tasty but flat. Overall it was not very impressive, especially for $16 for the sandwich which costs about $1.00 to make. I appreciate that is a classic diner menu and has a great location in down town la Verne. I was expecting better but it was just average. Had they not messed up the order I would give 3 star average.

Roberta's Village Inn is every bit the diner you'd expect to walk into given it was opened in 1969. Very old school feel which I love. The place was packed and the wait was still short which was nice. It's a lot of food for a good price. I got the Farm Style breakfast with two fried eggs, bacon and seasoned hash browns. That was already a very generous serving of food and I still got to choose between toast, a pancake or biscuits and gravy. I got the biscuits and gravy. Everything was tasty. The eggs were a little unsalted but have no fear - salt and pepper are at the table. The seasoning for the seasoned hash browns is Lawry's Seasoned Salt which definitely gives it a boost. And bacon is bacon - crispy, delicious. The biscuits and gravy were really good and I took a bite of my wife's pancake which is also good but I had no more room to eat. I felt like I needed to run through the streets of La Verne to burn off all the calories I just ate. The only thing I wish would change is that it's cash only. It's not the only place in La Verne that does this but it's 2025 and inconvenient. Not a big deal but it's those little things sometimes. All in all though, I'd come back. A good first experience.

The service was absolutely wonderful. We were checked on regularly without it being too much. Our drinks were refilled regularly. There's a good selection on the menu, something for everyone. In all honesty, I thought the food was good, but not great. Ambiance is a retro diner vibe, which is always a good thing. It is Cash Only, so come prepared. Otherwise, there is an ATM on the premises, but I don't know what the fees are to use it.

Nice little 50's style diner in the heart of LaVerne. Hubby and I enjoyed the pot roast dinner. The pot roast was so tender and delicious in its own gravy. The dinner comes with your choice of soup or salad, we opted for salads. Good sized portions, delicious food, reasonable prices and great service. Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You'll be glad you did. Breakfast is available all day, except for waffles they're not available for dinner. Cash only.

Popeye omelette with a LOT of extra cheese & mushrooms plus well done hash browns & toast

Had to give a HUGE thank you and shout out to Roberta's. Our family has loved everything about this place for decades, but today I was starving and ran up the street from my office to get a late lunch. Forgot they close at 2pm on Wednesdays, walked in at 1:55pm, and not only did I get the nicest welcome like always .... But the kitchen staff were gracious enough to fill one last take out order for the day. I was SO appreciative and enjoyed my fave food even more because it tasted like a perfectly cooked lunch and the kindness it was prepared with. The ladies are always wonderful but gave me an extra iced tea for the road and took the time to chat as they cleaned up for the day. The atmosphere here always takes customers back in time with the decor, but most importantly the spirit and attitude of how things used to be where meals and going out to eat were a privilege and time slowed down to enjoy every aspect of your experience. Thank you again & if you haven't visited Roberta's - you have to make the trip! It's worth the time and money that feeds your body with great flavor and your soul with everything else! My fave - Popeye omelette with more cheese than anything else and sautéed mushrooms, well done hash browns, & toast. It's DELISH!!

club sandwich: bacon, turkey, tomato, lettuce + mayo = $11.45

Roberta's is a quaint neighborhood diner located off the main strip in downtown La Verne. For a random Tuesday morning, it was crowded with locals. The main dining area is cute with plenty of booths. There's a whiteboard updated with the day's specials. It's spacious and home-y. I ordered the Denver omelette ($11.75). While it was Denver in theory with diced ham, onions, and bell peppers, it was missing cheese. Some cheese would have been nice. I liked that my omelette was unapologetically rough and messy around the edges. The hashbrowns were great - they were buttery with a nice crisp. The club sandwich ($11.45) was also excellent. Bacon, turkey, tomato, lettuce and mayo is sandwiched between lightly toasted white bread. The fries were lightly seasoned and surprisingly very tasty. I'd you're looking for some great, greaseless dinner food, I highly suggest checking out Roberta's.

You can find parking on the street, or you can park in the lot. There isn't a parking meter anymore, so I'm not sure what the city guidelines are for payment, but your first two hours parking there are free! When walking towards the cafe, you will see a sign for a pub. You can walk inside and turn towards the right. The cafe and baristas are located towards the very back! Yet, once you go inside, you notice all the seating that is available. We have asked towards the baristas, and used a little tablet to scan their menu. We ended up ordering a tonic and a banana cold brew. They also had food items! We had chosen their breakfast burrito. Their coffee is strong and you can feel the caffeine. Yet, the sweetness is perfect and can mask your actual caffeine intake! It's amazing how they can do both. Their burrito was very savory and delicious as well. It's always quick and clean at this cafe. The baristas are always sweet. My fiancé and I do come here to do work, and their WiFi is decent, too. I highly recommend this cafe if you're ever in the area!

I got an exceptional cup of cafe de olla latte, thanks to Elijah, who was a very welcoming and and friendly young man who help me at the counter. He answered all my curious questions. It is such a small shop. There are no seating arrangements inside the small shop that has a lot of merchandise from T-shirts, sweatshirts, to coffee beans to mugs, etc.. from the looks of the mugs that are featured here. This shop has been in business for a decade, more power to you. I hear vibrant and cultural music that is faint enough for you to be able to carry a conversation, I really love that. This is right by the Metrolink train tracks street parking noted and there appears to be a public parking that's free along first street this shop is in the corner of first Street and Main Street. . This is another shop. I wish that would be closer to me, and I would be visiting it very often at least once or twice a week if I could help it at all. Another wonderful experience. Parking is medium-sized for the amount of businesses here. I had no issues finding parking in front of the coffee shop, although more and more parking spots were being taken. AMBIANCE + SEATS The ambiance was relaxing. No loud music. Lots of people coming in and working on their laptops. Five small tables for two in the center. Along the wall there were bar seats for 19-20 people. There's a long communal table in the center for seats for 4-5 people. At the front and to the side, there were 3 tables for two. Outdoor tables for two right outside the cafe. Bathroom is outside of the cafe and you have to enter the other part of the building with a bathroom code to unlock. Will I visit again? Maybe if I'm in the area. But I'm in no rush to come back.
