Ok so the name on the building is Ambro's Sandwich. 1st time here and won't be back. The lady taking orders and money doesn't speak English. She points at everything. A customer was eating a tuna sandwich and found a piece of a plastic bag in his tuna. He showed it to her and she just looked at it. She picked it up with a napkin and showed it to someone behind the wall. She came back and said, "give it here" reaching for his sandwich he looked at her said, "no its ok, I don't want another one but a sorry would be nice" she just looked at the cash register and went back to ringing up the next customer. read more

This place is OK and gets 3.5 stars from me. It's a small mom and pop shop that city workers like to visit. For the prices, the portions are large and it's worth the amount you pay. The bread isn't the greatest and I'm pretty sure the use of a microwave is involved in the making of some of these subs. Had to do some errands at lunch and happened to end up here. The shop itself is pretty small, with only five tables inside and a soda dispenser. Customers were occupying three of the tables, and I saw they were eating teriyaki as well as sandwiches. After scanning the menu I settled on the small tuna diet and a potato salad. The order came out very quickly. The potato salad was not something I'd get again. It was not bad, but the taste was way too sweet for my preference. As for the sandwich, it was delicious! The roll was soft and fresh and filled with tuna, avocado, Swiss cheese, sprouts, cucumber and tomato. Very good! I will pass on the potato salad next time, but definitely be back for another sandwich! read more

This is by far the best place for sandwich's in the area. Why anyone would go to a Subway or Blimpie's ever again is beyond me. The price is right and their sandwich's ROCK! They do serve plenty of other items, but I've only had their sandwich's so I can't speak to anything else on the menu. The bread is soft and fresh, the meat is cold and cut, and the lettuce and tomato is light and easy(which I like) I like sandwiches with soft rolls, not the hard crusted kind that are full of air. Soft and dense is what I love and that's what Ambro's has. I like my sandwich's with lettuce and tomato, but not the entire head of lettuce nor a whole tomato. Ambro's has the perfect portion of both. Plenty of mayo, mustard, oil, seasoning and a healthy portion of avocado. You will be pleasantly surprised by this little hole-in-the-wall. If you're going during the lunch hour, call ahead and place your order over the phone. If you've never been before, Get the Ambro's Famous to start with and then take a menu with you for next time. Fresh products with a soft touch on the bread. This place has a soft and simple touch to their delicious sandwiches. My order: Pastrami sandwich - again I love their soft bread with some clean cut pastrami not the usually pastrami with all the fat trimmings stuck on it. Well balanced with the mustard and pickles. Mac salad- fresh but with just a little too much mayo for me but then again I don't usually eat mayo so it may be just right for others. Check it out y'all... Simple, clean and affordable. I'm surprised no one's rated this place yet...esp those who work in the area. They've been there for years. They specialize in mostly sandwiches (hot and cold), but their menu is extensive...variety of teriyaki bowls, salads, hamburgers, fries, fish n'chips, even Korean bbq...they even have homemade kimchee on hand for those who know their Korean food well!!! My favorite sandwich is the Ambros California...turkey, bacon, avocado, sprouts, provelone cheese, french roll...good sized and delicious. Their Chinese Chicken Salad is surprisingly good, too...marinated chicken breast, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, peanuts, wonton strips, homemade ginger sesame dressing...sounds pretty basic, but the combination keeps me a fan. All the bowls, esp. their Korean bbq is good and inexpensive for the portions they serve. Friendly service, although sometimes it's hard to get passed the accent. I like to review places subjectively according to the type of food they serve. Sure, Ambro's wouldn't be five stars if you compared it to some high end eateries, but when it comes to sandwich shops; I'm more than happy to come here. I'm a big man, and I consider the portions large, so if you beg to differ then you just have a funny complex going on. There's many choices to choose from here, and the prices are in line with other sandwich places. The tuna diet sandwich is my favorite! Always so fresh & with the cucumbers and sprouts, it contains the perfect amount of crunch! The rolls are so soft & fresh too. So tasty! Yelp steered me to this sandwich shop today, and I am glad I took a chance to try Ambro's Subs. The shop is small (simple, cost effective), clean, and has no frills. I ordered the Tuna Diet 6" because it seemed popular when reading other reviews. The sandwich was delicious! It was full of fresh ingredients (tuna, sprouts, avocado, tomato, cucumber, provolone) and was perfectly dressed with just enough mayonnaise to spread a thin layer on the bread. The flavor was yummy and I was just overall really satisfied with the meal for the price ($4.99). I also really appreciated the fact that the woman who took our order was polite and to the point. I am not the type who enjoys lengthy conversations with anyone and everyone I run into throughout my day. I just don't find it genuine. At Ambro's, my order was taken politely and patiently, I was charged the correct amount, and the sandwich was made correctly! I think that people in the service industry forget all too often that these basic things are most important when delivering to their customer. Overall, I would definitely revisit Ambro's. Best sandwiches in San Dimas, hands down. I moved away a few years ago, but every time I visit family (a few times a month) I insist on grabbing a sandwich from here! The tuna diet (on a roll) is amazing. Nice soft bread, a generous helping of tuna(that they mix with egg salad) and a generous portion of sprouts, avocado and other toppings. I'm drooling just thinking about it! The employees are friendly. They still remember me and my order, even though I am unable to frequent this place as often as I used to. The only downside is that if you dine in, there are only a couple tables and it can get stuffy as the AC is pretty sparse. read more

There is nothing remarkable about this place. The roast beef is the same quality as the meat you buy pre-sliced in a grocery store. At least the fixings were fresh and the bread was soft. If there was every a place that you can just blindly point to something on a menu and expect to be good then this is that place. Ambro's is amazing. Their sandwiches are totally delicious. Try the beef dip, pastrami, or one of their cold cuts if you really want to have something good. I for one am able total fan of their hamburger combo. I was actually told about this place by my hair stylist, who told me to try the Californian. Okay, I've had all of the typical 'sandwich' shops but this literally blew them out of the water. The owners don't seem to be very talkative and more business minded to get you what you ordered rather than start chitchat. I just started working in San Dimas and just about eaten at most of the restaurants in this small city and I just keep going back to ambros. They specialize in cold and hot subs with yummy sprouts. But I only go back for there beef! Omg it is so tender I love there Korean BBQ and beef teriyaki bowls! I def recomment that! But they do have the chicken teriyaki that I wouldn't recommend to anybody the chicken is so plain and flavorless you will regret buying that!
