First time ever coming here. And I have to say it definitely surprised me. The staff is very friendly and the food was exceptional. The large portions and very decent prices. I love the old school diner look. It also has a very nice parking lot. Next time I go to Walmart or anywhere near this diner I will stop in for another bite to eat. I'm telling you like going back in history with great food

Visited Ambrosia Diner on Monday for lunch. The food was tasty. They should invest in new silverware as it is worn out. Anyway... Had to laugh at this. Ordered soup and the waitress brought me an open crackers package that was missing some of the crackers. Did not mention it. She was overwhelmed as the only waitress.

Had car trouble on a trip to the Cooperstown area and had to stop at the nearby Advanced Auto Parts in Catskill. We stopped at Ambrosia for brunch, desperate for some classic diner food and were not disappointed! This diner is as old school as they come and I enjoyed it immensely. The Lox eggs Benedict was scrumptious and the perfect combo of salty and smoky and rich. I also had a "side" pancake and I put that in quotes because it was bigger than my head! It was perfectly cooked, light and fluffy. We loved that they had pineapple mimosas (as they're my favorite) and they were so refreshing!

Decent diner that is neither over the top nor in any way bad. Ambrosia is a regular diner with red soft seats and heaped dishes. There are TVs. The coffee is fine. The menu is extensive and dessert options are plenty. Burgers, salads, fries are all very fresh and not dry. There is no Maitre'd. The plates are large and you'll get your buck's worth.

The moment I stepped foot in the diner, I was instantly enveloped in a nostalgic and cozy atmosphere. It was full of charm with all the decorations. Definitely what you would picture in those classic movies/shows. Food was 10/10!! I ordered the buttermilk pancakes which is what they are most famous for and for good reason too! Fluffy and light and amazing portions (5 big pancakes with mixed berries)! The pancakes were so good that we bought a bag of pancake mix to take home. My sister ordered the eggs any way and she loved everything that came with it: eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, potatoes, and toast. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious and it was hard to decide what to order. They have weekly specials as well. Our waitress Susie was an absolute sweetheart and made our entire experience memorable. That being that we had asked her for some more water and by the time she came back around, someone else had already stopped by and filled up our glasses. She apologized for the delay by giving us a free chocolate chip cookie and it was the best damn cookie I've had in a long time. She went above and beyond for something that wasn't a big deal, but we appreciated the thought. I'd definitely come back here if I'm near the area.

Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

This a worthwhile place to pop in for a good meal in a nice…read moreriver view location. There are plenty of pleasant surprises on the menu for all sorts of diners. Our server was friendly. I hate to leave a harsh review but I see others have had the exact same complaints and this isn't my first bad experience here. Once we sat down and had our sandwich orders taken it was at least an hour till our food was out. I had to go to the kitchen after about 45 minutes and they said, oh, it is right here and brought out the bread/ biscuits app someone had asked for. Bread = 45 minutes. The rest of the entrees then trickled out slowly one by one ensuring half the table were done eating before the last salad finally arrived. We had assumed our server's shift had ended because I never saw her again in the restaurant until I went up to get the check form the cashier. She thenpopped out from somewhere to take over printing out my check. I suspect we were auto-gratuitied looking back but she never mentioned it. I failed to check and was just dying to get out of there It seemed like there were lots of staff but where are they and what are they doing?? . People at tables were just rubbernecking around looking for someone. No one was on the floor. No one was out in the tables. No one was watching food, timing, drinks, turning the tables, etc. It was busy when we arrived but almost empty by the time we left. We were there for over 2 hours. I wonder if there are systems in place that were created out of inexperience and are now the sunk cost way of running things. Are there sections? Does the hostess know how to manage pacing? Does the server understand timing and to check the tables? I don't mean to sound pedantic, I just don't think there are people here who understand that the job is to manage the flow, "but was it busy?" Yes, it is supposed to be. If you cannot serve someone, you need to wait to seat them. If you can't handle the tables, close a section. Just filling tables and figuring it out is unfair to diners. Thank god you can go to the front to get your check or we might still be there. :( No owner response needed

I had the garden salad sandwich on farm bread. The avocado wasn't the freshest and there was only one tiny piece of tomato - this will probably be a good sandwich in peak summer. The sandwiches came with chips and salsa. The store made mango salsa is delicious. Locally made root beer in a bottle was delicious and unique. The baked goods were quite pricey (almost $9 for a small square of raspberry bread). The bathrooms are on the otherwise by the kids toys.

It was hard in the past to find places for all of us but now it's even more difficulty because we still have my extremely picky BIL who has stomach issues, GERD, and a multitude of other issues, and now we have a vegan-ish person who tries to stay vegan but eats cheese, dairy, and eggs. So finding places to satisfy everyone is more complicated. This place met our needs and can meet yours: dog friendly, vegetarian options, and has something for even the pickiest of people. Me and another person got the strip steak, my husband got the Philly cheesesteak, MIL got the wunderbar burger, FIL got salmon burger, the vegan-ish got a veggie burger and one of the salads, which he split with his wife the SIL, and my picky BIL got the chicken sandwich. He freaked out over the sandwich because he wanted to know why it was moist and not dry. His partner and I were like, "You can have fully-cooked, moist chicken. Dry chicken isn't the only cooked option." But he continued to have a meltdown over his perfectly cooked chicken. He did eat it though. Family can drive you nuts sometimes. Anyways, despite the meltdown, I think we were all satisfied with our food. I did find the mashed potato on the steak to be very creamy but everything else on the plate was very good. Steak was cooked medium-rare liked I asked. Overall, the place is very good, excellent food, excellent service, and it was a busy night.
