Hold out as long as you can until AMC Causeway 13 opens . Original opening for new location was early spring 2023. BC 19 location to me was ruined when LIEMAX opened in screen 2. They have a converted Dolby Cinema with leather recliners but th th that's all folks for the cinemas with any leather recliners. Location never decided to renovate when COVID happened. It's too bad. Wonder if AMC has informed the mice about the move to the new location. read more

I would rate this theater as below average. It wins points for location and ease if you're using the T, we took the orange line and it's really close to Chinatown stop. I would not try to drive here unless you're a downtown parking wizard. Theater itself was dirty, looks like it needs a serious deep cleaning and overhaul. We also had to wait in a line of about 40-50 people just to get in the theater because only one person was checking tickets while multiple people were handling a line of 10 or so to buy tickets. Ok I can get past that. Seats are too close together. I'm not exactly tall , 5'7" and when the person in front of me leaned back their chair hit my legs. Ok I'll lean on spouse. Throughout the movie there were constantly people on phones or having full on conversations. In other words if you like a traditional movie with minimal distractions, I wouldn't expect that here. Alternatively if you like having your phone out this seems acceptable here. Screen size smaller than average, large stadium style seating, flat lower level, staggered upper level. Standard concessions for AMC, popcorn, candy and coke freestyle machines. This place seems to thrive based on where it is more than how well it operates and delivers a movie going experience. read more

I love this cinema, I know many people are a fan of the renovated coaches and stuff but I prefer the seats here. The staff is really friendly and it's HUGE, there are always so many different movies playing. The electronic kiosks for buying tickets are also super convenient and there was always a staff member to help me out if I had any sorts of difficulty. The screens are huge here, and I love the Tuesdays 6 dollars deals because THAT IS MY JAM. The reason I gave four stars is because the bathroom hygiene could be improved. The doors on the stalls are often broken and many stalls are often dirty. read more

Convenient location, but not the most convenient theater. I end up watching a lot of movies at this theater because of its somewhat central location. It is the default compromise for groups with people both in the city and north of the river. The basics here are fine. Seats are comfortable, they play a lot of movies, audio and visual quality has always been good, etc. However, the theater always seems like it is completely understaffed, which leads to small issues like the ticket machines being constantly broken (last time I went all 8 or so were not working or out of paper) and sometimes complete chaos (the lines during the Star Wars premiere turned into a sprinting mob due to lack of staff and organization). Given how expensive regular tickets are here, guess I expect a little more. Other theaters offer a smoother experience with more amenities. read more

This is my go-to movie theater. It's so convenient to get to, being right next to the Bolyston T stop and a short walk from the Chinatown T stop. This AMC has friendly staff and a good selection of movies. It's somewhat annoying there isn't any food or drink available on the first floor. If you're seeing a movie on the first floor you have to go up the escalator to the 2nd floor, buy your food, then either take the elevator or escalator back down to the 1st floor. This AMC tends to be busier than some of the other local movie theaters especially for opening nights. read more

I watch a lot of movies here as it is one of the few AMCs close by. Overall, this is your standard AMC-it shows all the latest movies, has overpriced snacks/food, and is decently clean. However, I do appreciate that this location is a lot bigger than many other AMCs (it's a whole two floors!), which means they have more showings due to its numerous theaters. On my last visit, I called customer service before going there to inquire about movie vouchers I received from work. The person I talked to was very helpful and kindly answered all my questions and concerns. Pleasantly surprised to be received by such prompt and welcoming service. All in all, don't have any complaints about this place and will keep coming here to watch movies. read more

Went to the AMC Boston Common 19 on Labor Day at 4:40pm to see "Jaws" in 3-D. The employee scanning our tickets was so engrossed in her phone, she barely looked away to scan my screen. As we started going to the escalator, I noticed the bin full of 3-D glasses. I asked the employee if this was where we picked up our glasses for the movie. She didn't look away from her phone. She just said "oh. Yeah." We grabbed our own glasses from the bin and headed to the concession stand. The entire area was littered with popcorn and straw wrappers. The Icee machines were broken. As we entered the theatre, some of the other patrons asked us where we got our 3D glasses as they weren't given any. About half the theatre had to leave to go find the glasses on their own before the movie started. Once the movie ended, the employee that came in to clean the theatre waited at the end of the stairs. As you probably guessed, he too was staring at his phone. He didn't acknowledge anyone leaving. If you care a thing about customer service, this theatre will definitely disappoint. If there was a manager on duty, they obviously weren't monitoring their staff. read more

I love going to the movie theater and when my local Regal closed, I decided to buy the unlimited pass at AMC. Yet, I am locked into this for 3 months or have to pay a whopping $40 early termination fee! It's run-down after only, what, 10 or so years of use? If I'm going to pay multiplex prices, give me some amenities. As of writing this, and for the past 3 weeks, this location no longer offers order ahead food, and instead will require you to arrive 30 minutes+ to stand in line and place an order. Not that you'd really want food from here anyway... Freestyle area is disgusting, with most flavors not being available--there were zero sugar free options other than tea last time I was here, and the whole condiment area often lacks napkins, and looks like it hasn't been wiped down in 4-5 hours. This theater is in a great location. It's literally right across from the Boylston T stop, so very easy to get to and no reason to drive and worry about parking. In addition the theater is large, has some good concession options (including a full bar) and there are lots of showtimes every day. However, the theater is just not being well kept, which is really disappointing given that it is a nice building in a nice location. I have visited two times in the past month--once on a high volume Friday night and once on a lower volume Tuesday night--and both times the women's restroom that I went in was filthy. There was toilet paper and paper towel everywhere, stalls weren't clean and it smelled of urine. The smell was significant enough that it suggested that when the restroom is "cleaned" they probably just empty trash and sweep but no one actually mops, cleans toilets, etc. Despite having a good menu the concession area also looks a little run down--popcorn didn't seem fresh and for some reason they only open up half of the registers. During my second trip basic supplies like napkins and lids for cups were out (and no one was around to help). Theaters also don't seem to be cleaned consistently. In addition, the second time I went I spotted a mouse running through the theater, which scared me more than the scary movie I went to see. Mice usually don't travel solo so I'm going to guess this theater has an issue. Overall, this seems like a decent place to see a movie because of location, size of theater and showtimes. However, I really wish it was kept in better condition for patrons. Due to the overall condition of things during my last visit and the little furry friend that made an appearance I'm going to have to go elsewhere next time I see a movie. read more

we had a wonderful experience in the beginning, when the printer didn't work, an employee was very helpful in pointing out that you could print it somewhere else! who knew ?! then we took the escalators up to the theatre and proceeded to watch the most heartbreaking sorrowful, war crime of a movie, we live in time. we have been forever changed. but the experience was rudely interrupted when as soon as the credits began, an employee came and yelled at us to clean up the trash. I see where she's coming from, but in that moment it was really not the time. we needed to sit in that grief and instead we were ripped from our thoughts to be instructed to do something we were planning to do already as decent human beings. read more

AMC Boston Common theater is an older theater that has a great deal of class. While I was waiting for my friend, Joe, one of the workers helped me purchase our tickets for a showing at 6:30pm. He was patient, kind, and courteous! Such a nice human being! The women's bathroom surprisingly did not have an open hallway. Good, for the most part. There is one minor issue, a signifiacnt one at that, but is avoidable. At the first show of any movie in a day, especially in the IMAX theatre, they tend to not even have the lights on in the auditorium as people are coming in, and turn the lights on just before the movie starts. For those who have flashlights and a phone charger (because of the well known fact that the flashlight is the biggest battery drain of all apps), this is fine. For those who don't, this is a safety hazard. The easy way to avoid it is to just don't go to the first showing on a day. Well, the other problem, but one that IMHO isn't worth removing any other stars, is that if you are going to the IMAX, and are getting concessions, the ticket taker by the escalator ALWAYS patronizes you and tells you to go to the downstairs theatre without considering the possibility that you are getting concessions, on account that the downstairs concession stand is only open at night, if ever at all. So the only star I take off is for the public safety issue before the first show. To take another star off for the assumptions that one is going straight to the IMAX theatre without getting concessions would be petty. Other than these two things, I've never had any problems here. read more

I'm spoiled from the reserved seating at amc Framingham! I like the theatre, it's nice and shiny and big. The employees are nice. But the food court was closed on the first floor so if your movie is in the first floor, you have to go up the escalator to grab food from The second floor which could be a hassle. Listen, i love the movies. but i took an extra day off to hang out with my brother and see a movie, and my favorite thing in the world is to see a movie with a Movie Beer. I spent the whole train ride making sure the bar would be open and when we got there we sat at the bar for like 8 minutes before a concession worker told us that the bartender was busy. i even left during the previews to see if the worker came back because i wanted to have the best time ever on vacation. just don't say you have an amenity when you don't and I'll go elsewhere read more

Went to see avengers endgame tonight. Maybe an hour into the film, somebody behind me started smoking weed. They continued to do so through the duration of the film. It was shocking to me that no one from the theater came in to check on the rooms. There was no way someone could not have smelled that marijuana as it was thick in the room, and it was never called out or stopped. The place was packed, and I had no idea who was doing it. I did call after the movie to let them know that I have a respiratory issue and it was a really really big deal and the smoking destroyed my viewing experience. I have never had that happen at any theater I have ever been to. I was told that they were short-staffed, and that, normally, someone checks in on the theatres, but it hasn't been happening as much lately since Endgame. The woman apologized and that was it. It was an awful experience. I left disappointed that that was my choice of a place to watch such a film. Any other film and I would have walked out. I certainly won't ever come back. Epic film. My husband and I head to the movies nearly every weekend and what makes it all worthwhile is being A list members. For a small monthly fee, an A lister can see up to 3 movies a week, earn points towards concessions and other perks throughout the year. DEFINITELY WORTH IT and you never feel bad about seeing a movies that is just so-so! The Dolby theatre is THE BEST and I hope they update other theatres soon! Reasons for three star review: although having the bar available is awesome to grab a drink before the movie, it is usually only staffed with one bartender and it take a while to get served. The theatre is old and worn and in need of a makeover. As I previously said, my hope is there will soon be more Dolby theaters soon. biggest disappointment however, is the frequent lack of attention to the restrooms. Pretty nice theater that is well kept. Theaters can get dirty if no one cares about the trash in between movies. I could probably gripe all day about how concessions at movie theaters are a rip off, but they don't force you to buy $10 popcorn. As long as there are no TSA XRays checking people for smuggling snacks, I think most people will be good. There are some free movie screenings here sometimes, so try to sign up for those. This place is super convenient to get to as many have mentioned. I also think the automated ticket purchasing machines are great as well. read more

So underwhelming considering it's a centrally located AMC. The staff was disinterested, neglecting to give us glasses for our 3D showing. The bathrooms were pretty bad. While not necessarily dirty, they lacked all basic restroom products. The women's room had several stalls without toilet paper and no soap in any of the numerous soap dispensers. Per my boyfriend, the men's room also had no soap, in addition to no paper towel dispensers (those appeared to have been ripped off the wall?). The cinema itself was just okay. We purchased our tickets on fandango and since we were given the option to select our seats, figured they'd be the cushy reclining seats, however they were run-of-the-mill foam seats. Not sure why AMC wouldn't invest more in making this prominent Boston location one of their nicest and updated. P.S. butter dispensers barely worked, too. read more

I'm going to try to explain this as easy as I can.. I bought tickets to a movie that said it was 17 and over online. Since I don't have a mass Id, I thought my school Id would approve if they asked me for my Id. I didn't think I'd run into any issue since it's just a movie. The movie was an anime, 'Demon Slayer'. Since it's an animation movie I thought I wouldn't run into trouble.. until this one staff stopped me and asked for my id and I showed him. Apparently, my school id 'isn't' valid according to them. Two people checked my id and didn't let me enter the theatre even though I got approved by this woman, she didn't ask for my id so I thought it was cool. They did offer a refund which I kind of appreciate but do I really have to be 21+ to watch an animation movie? I don't think it should be a big deal, but I guess policy is policy. This one guy i got to talk to.. didn't get his name. I appreciate him so much because luckily he let me through. They also questioned me about my friend, since I was with them in the theatre a while ago. I believe they had intentions to kick them out since the staff asked so many questions, but i wouldn't rat out my friend since they're already planning to kick me out. This is an awesome place, but it does need a lot of work. Escalator is broken, and ripped off prices. Sorry, but I'm not coming back here again. They lost a costumer :/. read more

This theater is honestly one of the crustiest theaters I've been to in a while. I'll give them credit for the huge lobby downstairs and the variety of movies they show, but the concessions area is super sticky and the bathrooms are terribly kept. You'd hope that they'd have reclining seats, but sadly, they don't and the seats are so dirty and worn that they need to be cleaned, or better yet, replaced. This theater definitely gets the unsung hero award dealing with such a difficult array of people. I do have to say the young girl that we spoke to when we were there one of the managers kudos to her for handling some of the people in the crowd everyone is disappointed about nothing. I also found the rest of the staff to be pleasurable mostly young students which enjoy their jobs. As for the theater it's a two level theater playing many movies I have to get at least a dozen so you can walk in it literally anytime and enter a movie if it is located directly across the street from the public garden's at the beginning of the theater district don't plan on parking in less you're a very experienced in locating a meter or you're going to enter the garage which will cost you more than the movies here's the big winner for AMC $20 a month get you the right to watch three movies per week this is incredible it's $12-$14 for one movie best bargain I've seen in a long time I'm definitely going to sign up. There's also a lot of concessions and a self serve drinks center. read more

The pro of this AMC theater is the location right near Boston Commons - convenient and just a short 15 minute walk from my home. This AMC is located in a historic theater. It was really fun to walk the halls and admire old architecture and movie prints. However, it would be nice to see this theater renovated in a more modern way that still highlights the building's historical beauty. Oh, and the escalators didn't work in either direction. We came for $5 Movie Tuesday, and picked up our tickets without a problem, but there was some confusion at the concession stand about the $5 popcorn on Tuesdays as well - but we eventually got the goods. The crowd in our theater was definitely loud and chatty throughout the movie. It didn't bother me too much, but it was likely noisy because of its college location. The seats were not like those I've experienced at other AMC theaters (at least in the theater we saw our movie in). Instead, they were your old school traditional seats - not the big, comfy reclining ones that we've enjoyed at other AMCs. The bathroom was small, and a bit smelly. For a $5 Movie Tuesday this place did the trick, but might check out some of the other AMC locations for future movie outings. read more
