Went to see Baby Driver in their Dolby Cinema theatre. It was unbearably loud!!! Don't get me wrong, the whole movie wasn't awfully loud, but the action scenes were about 60% bass and 230% treble. The treble was cutting my ear drums to the point where I had to cover my ears every action scene almost. The particular movie I saw was big on the soundtrack and the movie lining up with the action scenes. The bass was amazing in the theatre, but paired with the treble it was definitely not a pleasant experience. The recliners in the Dolby Cinema screen didn't go back as far as I would have liked. I felt like it was a slight recline instead of a full one, and my shoes were hitting the wall in front of me the whole time (I'm only 5'10"). That being said, the theatre itself is great. I've been going here for years. It's my go-to theatre around the area. Very clean and well managed. If you need help you will definitely get it. Will absolutely be back, but I'll skip out on paying the extra $5 for Dolby Cinema. read more

I don't go to the movies very often, but any time that I have, the place is usually well kept... especially over the weekend. My daughter and I showed up here at 12:15 for a 12:55 movie, just in case the theater was busy. It was actually the opposite, yet we walk through the doors to get some popcorn and a drink and there's trash all over the floor in front of the cashier's stand. Go to get our drink and they are out of just about everything, including ice. I suppose I could have gotten some ice if I wanted to use what was all over the floor. Of course we get into the theater and they've got recliners. Great. Not sure though how I'm to feel comfortable sitting in these seats after I'd just walked in from the lobby. I LOVE AMC 24! I'm a Stubs member and it is totally worth it. For $20 you can go to 3 movies a week, you get discounts on Tuesdays (when I recently bought my friend a ticket, it was less than $7), every time you use your membership you earn points so they are also always putting $5 on my account, drinks and snacks are always cheaper afterwards. I love that there is a "Stubs member" line which means you get in and out of line quick. The food has gotten much better over the years, nachos, little tacos, ice cream etc. The have a bar that makes really good drinks and usually the wait is not bad. They have an app which makes getting tickets super easy. I love the Dolby theaters, it feels like the entire building moves in there so you really and getting the full experience of the movie. read more

What a great experience!!! My husband and I bought our tickets and chose our seats online (reclining seats, whaaaat awesome!) and walked straight up to the ticket taker who scanned the QR code from my phone. So no need to go to the ticket window for will call or anything. The theater is pretty big, and as for food, I'm assuming its regular movie theater priced food, aka pricey. Went to an IMAX offering here. The IMAX seats are really not very comfortable and they are slightly on the narrow side, probably to be able to pack in more people. Great popcorn and a butter dispenser to drown your own popcorn. Limited food and snack menu. read more

They redid this theater since the last time I was here. You can tell they want to compete with the other luxury theaters moving in. They now have reclining seats, adult beverages and more food options. This location has a lot of theaters so you will probably never run the chance of your movie selling out. We got our tickets online and got to reserve our seats. With the new seat layout you really won't get a bad seat in the house. Popcorn was good and you can put on the butter yourself. Adult beverages looked good. A tipsy patron in line was raving about them as we waited for popcorn. The layout is nice and the bathrooms are clean. I will make the drive again to this theater! read more

They need to get more help. Standing in line for concessions for 20 minutes or more is ridiculous. Even the VIP line waits longer than needed for concessions. Cinema Cafe gets food to you quicker. This place would get 4/5 stars if they would hire more concessions help and get this moving faster. read more

Went to see Deadpool yesterday.. holy wow I hadn't been to this theatre since 1999! It is HUGE! The tickets were up there (13+ for a 1:50 movie) but the reclining seats were awesome. The theatre is pretty large and there are subwoofers under the seats so you rattle and vibrate when something crazy happens. Popcorn and drinks.. well it's a movie theatre. It isn't much different than I remember.. a large drink and large popcorn (free refills) is 15 bucks. I split it with my date and we refilled the popcorn once and drink 2x. I love they have Coke Freestyle and also a pour your own butter popcorn station with condiments like red peppers and parmesan packets. Definitely was a great movie going experience.. I probably won't be back very often because there aren't a lot of new movies that I ever am dying to see but it was an awesome treat and I do look forward to my next experience there! read more

I came to visit my grandma and she recommended this theatre for our family movie outing. I liked the place and have to see if we have one in Raleigh. The theaters were clean as well as the bathroom and common areas. There is plenty of room to sit and wait for your movie to start. I love the concessions. They have a bar. Also the IMAX theaters are separate from other theaters. Oh an reclining seats. I hope we have one in Raleigh because this would make me want to go to the movies more often. My only complaint is that the concessions were understaffed for the time of day. read more

There's a strong argument that the high quality of home entertainment systems are killing theaters off, but I still try and get out to see a movie on the big screen now and then. Maybe it's mostly for nostalgia, but it's not like I need a reason to do something I enjoy, is it? The best thing about the theater is the matinee prices. Under $6 weekdays before noon? I have to arrange a sitter, but getting out to meet a buddy for a film is a great little escape. They recently did a round of renovations (I think to compete with the Paragon 12 that opened up in City Center.) The seats are nice and comfy and recline. The Dolby theater has amazing sound. The Imax and 3d are great. The food is overpriced, but if there's a theater in America where that isn't true I've never heard of it. My husband and I got free tickets from tmobile for a show and of course we decided on finding dory, the line was super long, we must have waited 10-15 minutes with only one girl running the register, we didn't realize you could go inside and manually enter your fandango code on a kiosk. Avoid the line! Go to the kiosk!! Since my last visit they did a remodel, they took out the space theme (super sad about that) and got new recliner chairs. They are super awesome and comfy, this is the first amc I've ever been to that had them. The inside is super nice, new Coke machines that have so many flavors, new lights, new floor and even a bar! The only things they are missing is waiters that being you your food but I actually enjoy them not having that yet. I love amc but personally I think the prices for tickets can be ridiculous, I will stick to my new theater that has way lower movie prices. read more

This is the only theater we go to now... and it's all because of the recliner seats! We've never had problems with this theater at all. Just like any other theater, the food and drinks are super expensive. However, AMC has stepped up their food game. Lots of options. You can get your tickets online or at the theater. Getting them only is a little bit more expensive. You get to pick your seats, so anytime we plan on watching a movie, we purchase tickets early and just come right before the movie starts. read more

It's been about 5 years since I've viewed a movie at this AMC. If you haven't been here since the renovation I suggest it. The new chairs are comfortable and a great way to view a movie. The theatre was very well maintained including the cleanliness. I would suggest switching out already popped popcorn if it's been sitting around a while. The sound I experienced in the Dolby Prime theater is second to none. I was blown away by the array of speakers that lined the wall. I counted 22 sub woofers in the ceiling. I could tell during the AMC theater intro after the previews that the sound was going to be incredible. My entire movie going experience has changed. The most awesome theater I've ever seen and experienced is in my back yard. I must admit that AMC's IMAX theater has some incredible sound as well. I will make sure that I come to AMC for blockbuster openings. I will be deeply disappointed if they are not showing in theater 12. Enjoyed Wonder Woman movie in the Dolby theater with action responsive reclining seating, and awesome sound. I have to rate that theater as best to date. This DC movie it self was better then the Marvel released movies, and better than super man vs batman. So if you want to see this movie with great action and sound, the Dolby theater is the only place to see it! I am very pleased with the AMC in Hampton. I love that they remodeled the theatre with reclining seats and an improved sound system. It is much easier to go to the movies and pick seats ahead of time (I don't feel like I have to show up 30 minutes early just to find a seat, especially with new releases). My fiancé and I can show up 5 minutes before the show and know that our seats will be ready for us! AMC also offers military discount, which is a plus. They converted parts of their stubs program to be free (this is very nice for people like me who don't want to pay yearly), so that you can earn points for going to the movies! They also have a stubs program that you pay for, which allows you to skip lines at the concession stand and other perks of this nature. I will continue to go to an AMC for my movie theatre experience due to the outstanding service, great deals, and updated seating! read more

So, to start off, I had to use my AMC Stubs card membership to purchase tickets to avoid the long wait outside because they only had one person working the ticket booth on a Friday evening. I felt like I was being profiled soon as I entered the lobby. Once inside the lobby, me and my friend go to the bar to get a cocktail. I'm a black, male, in my mid 30s in street clothes at the time. My friend is a white, male, in his early 50s in street clothes. My friend and I present our IDs (both Virginia driver's license) as instructed by the bartender. Keep in mind that both of our IDs were expired due to pandemic causing delays with the DMV (the DMV requires in person appointments to get the new Real IDs. My DMV appointment was in two days, I had proof because I had to wait 5 months for the appointment and it was still a valid ID with the paperwork from the DMV which I had and have used at airports, to get on military bases, etc.) The bartender checks my friends ID and doesnt say anything to him about it being expired. She checks my ID and immediately gets an attitude and practically yells "I can't accept that!" and walks away to make my friends drink then she continues "I cant accept that ID because it's expired". I'm confused because both our IDs were expired. I had to walk away because 1) she was clearly only profiling certain people otherwise she would've noticed the other expired ID, both were Virginia driver's licenses. 2) I don't like the way I was being spoken to. I understand that she has to do her job but the way you say something and tone makes a big difference. She was not apologetic or empathetic at all and just very aggressive in the way she spoke to me. I guess they can only accept expired IDs if you're white at this location, at least that was how I was made to feel by the difference in treatment but I digress. My friend tried to get her to scan the AMC stubs card membership for the drink before she rang them up but she told us we had to go to the guest services to have them add it later. There was nobody at guest services so we knew there'd be a wait, very inconveniencing since our movie was about to start plus it's annoying to have to wait in another line after concessions. We get our stubs memberships scanned at the bar at AMC Lynnhaven all the time, never have to go to guest services unless you forget to show it prior to paying. My friend got his drink and we went to concessions where I bought a water and Twizzlers. We then went to our seats. The theater was extremely warm and uncomfortable, there seemed to be no or low air flow, it was very stuffy. The movie starts playing but the audio was still playing the Noovie advertisement audio over the trailers so we missed almost all the trailers. We had to wait after the movie for someone to show up to guest services to add the points, they weren't very friendly and I felt like I was bothering them trying to have my points added. I love movies and movie theaters so I avoided watching the movie on HBO Max so I could support the movies and the theater during the pandemic but this experience really makes me never want to go back to this theater ever again. I'm not even a nitpicking person, I try to be very understanding and patient especially during these crazy days of Covid-19 pandemic but I really wished I would've saved the ~$75 I spent on this visit and just stayed home and watched the movie on HBO Max. read more

We go to this theater fairly regularly and I have always been pleased with my experiences. The regular theaters are so incredibly comfortable with their plush lounge chairs. It's like seeing a movie at home in your recliner only you get the giant screen and amazing sound! We always end up kicking off our shoes and really making ourselves at home! This time we went to a premier event for the opening day of the new Transformers movie. It was a really fun event! We received lanyards and t-shirts with our ticket purchase which was cheaper with my stubs card than ticket master or any other place we found to buy them. The IMAX theater wasn't as comfortable as the new ones; it's more the traditional style of theater. The picture was amazing, very bright and clear and the 3D made everything realistic and not clownish. I didn't like how you had to face the screen dead on or the 3D effect is lost and the chairs and quite uncomfortable. Being that close to another human being makes it difficult to enjoy your movie, especially when that person is a heavy smoker and you are not. This will continue to be our theater of choice but this was my first and last IMAX experience. read more

My back starts hurting in the middle of the movie, I don't like sitting elbow-to-elbow with strangers ... and I could probably come up with more reasons but let's leave it at that. After watching deadpool (and seeing a way to young person walk out from the theater) I think I have changed my mind. Reclining seats?! Uhm, Yeah! No one was in my space, even when the people in the middle had to go do whatever did i have to move. And the sound?! Man, love love love. The upgrades to the seating is really the only part of this theater that can be considered above par. Awesome electronic reclining chairs in a cushy leather make for an enjoyable viewing of any film. As for the ticket system and concessions... AMC 24 really falls flat, and I'm not referring to overpriced concessions. Concessions are slow to serve and they don't even have to worry about drinks anymore which makes no sense to me...the lines are still outrageous...meanwhile the drink station that is now self serve, is messy and unruly and the staff clearly don't care about up keep maintenance....at one point a staff member was beating down ice into the soda machine in such a violent and haphazard way that ice and water was flying out of it and hitting me 3 feet away. The layout is chaotic and promotes unruly confused lines. The self-ticket systems are glitchy and take forever, but still beat the insane lines at the traditional ticket booth area that is outside and offers no heating or shelter from bitter cold weather. All in all we were lucky we got there 40 minutes before showtime, otherwise we might not have made it to our seats given all the delays and set backs. read more

Great theater, always clean and great seats. However the concession line always takes forever to get thru. They never have enough cashiers to handle the demand of the line. Another thing that I can't stand is the fact that you can order tickets online to reserve your seats (which I love) however there is a convenience fee added. For a family of 4 this fee ends up being the cost of another ticket! If you are going to encourage people to buy their tickets before coming to the theater then there should be no charge. It's like being charged to make a reservation at a restaurant. read more
