Great theater within walking distance of our Hotel (Hilton) and the mall being across the street was awesome as well! My husband went to play golf so my son and I Decided to check out the 'Trolls' movie. Theater was at the end of the street and looked clean and inviting from the outside. Looked like a small town movie theater that is kept up. After we went in and got out tix my son wanted popcorn the best thing is that the popcorn is made fresh and they made a new batch for my son so he could have some without butter/salt (medical reasons) the staff was really nice, friendly and the fact that they went out of their way for us was was a plus! Movie theater was clean, smelled Great, felt cozy and was charming. Bathroom was dated but sooo freaking clean! Man I can't stop talking about the cleanliness of this place! 5 starts all around and when we come to SC to visit again we will definitely make plans to watch a movie here again! read more

Absolutely horrible experience! This was the first time my friends and I planned to go to the movies since Covid. The doors were locked upon arrival at 8:30pm and we had to get someone to come to the door to let us in. When they got to the door they asked if we already had our tickets which we didn't and planned to buy our tickets there the old fashioned way to see what all they were showing and if anything else sparked our interest. Moral of the story is that they wouldn't let us enter the theatre unless we already purchased our tickets. I asked why they had this rule in place and they said "this is our new policy and some of us don't want to be here until 12am". Again, it was 8:30pm.... The latest we would have been there was 10:30pm. Regardless of the fact they had movies still showing until 11pm that day and if it were such a new policy that the theatre wouldn't have shown movies that late. read more

This location used to be super run down but they've remodeled it and it's pretty great now! They have stadium seating and cushy recliner chairs. If you're cold you can turn on the chair warmer too. I like that you have more space and everyone can be comfy for their movie viewing. There a less seats because of this but you can also reserve specific seats for showtimes. This is great. Sign up for the AMC Stubs club (free or you can get a premium subscription) and get benefits like $5 movie tickets on Tuesdays and waived surcharges when you buy your tickets on the AMC website. They also have a small bar area if you'd like an adult beverage during the movie and you can add snacks to your tickets when buying online and they will be delivered to your seats! read more

I go to this theatre almost exclusively because of the $5 ticket tuesdays. The assigned seating is useful for picking good seats if you're fast enough and the seats are heated and comfortable. That being said, I took 2 stars off because the employees let their friends get in free. I could see confusion between customers not being able to find their correct seats but I saw this girl talking to an employee very friendly and then walking into whatever theatre she wanted to go into (it was very visible and no one was saying anything so I doubt she was movie hopping). She proceeded to sit in the seats I reserved and looked unconcerned when I brought up that she was in our seats and didn't move. On top of this, she was on her phone for a good majority of the movie and was walking around the building without shoes on. If this was another customer I would've understood a bit more but you'd think someone obviously not paying for their seats would be a little more concerned about where they sit and their etiquette. read more

Came two days in a row to see movies, giving a 4 star because the prices on food are just ridiculous. You end up paying more for food than on tickets. Other than that it was a very clean theater with amazing seats that recline and offer heat in the seats. The AC was perfect and the drink machines were placed to the side so you didn't have to stand in line for refills. Carmike was one of the original movie theaters and at that time, was a great one, but as the years passed, their movie theater has gotten dirtier, their speakers aren't upgraded, and they are more expensive than most theaters. They do have stadium seating which is great, but everytime I go in there, it feels kind of depressing because not a lot of people go there anymore. The theaters are extremely small and they hardly ever clean the place. So with that, I give 'em 2 stars, because it's not horrible, but for $9, it's not even average. read more

Have been here multiple times to see movies and really enjoyed it for the most part. The last two times I have been, it was absolutely freezing in the theater. I mean, the first night I could see my own breath. It was absurd. The lobby was a normal temperature, but walking into the theater felt like walking into a fridge. We assumed maybe the heat just hadn't kicked on yet and would soon heat up the room - it didn't. We might as well have been sitting outdoors in the middle of winter. After the movie ended and it didn't warm up, I just assumed their heat was completely broken that night. The second time, weeks later, it was again very cold in a completely different theater as soon as we walked in. Multiple guests were asking if the heat could be turned up, and the employee said the main office in Spartanburg was responsible for the thermostat and they had no control over it. I know movie theaters are normally on the colder side, but this has been ridiculous. I feel for the employees if they can't change it, but corporate needs to adjust something because I can't sit through another movie in a room that is the same temperature as it is outside in the middle of night in January. Apparently multiple other guests felt the same way. The seat heaters were a lifesaver in these instances, though. Lol. read more

It's been some years since we visited this theater, and a few months ago was the first time since it switched over to AMC. We were pleasantly surprised by all the upgrades that were going on. It's a little cheaper than regal on Bower. The reclining seats are nice, theaters are clean, and the staff has been friendly. The cons would be that of the handful of movies where watched the recently, there have been non-working seats and the theaters get too warm for my comfort level. But over all good experiences so far. read more

I have been a AMC Member for a very long time. I totally understand about Covid protocol but closing down the butter machine and serving cold butter on popcorn(20$) is just plain crazy. You have to press the coke machine to get your drink....then you have one coke machine open and people are lined up (not social distancing) and machine runs out of ice. Ask for help and the people behind counter just look at you like your stupid. I have been to 2 movies back now...will be my last. read more

Pretty nice theater! The upgrade to the lobby area, auditoriums, and menu are super nice. However, the restrooms are still pretty crappy. The ticket price did seem to be lower than the competitor's pricing and they do have a pretty extensive beer and wine listing which was nice. Overall, this was a pretty solid visit. My most favorite theatre in Columbia! They may not have as much of a selection of movies, as Bower Parkway, but their concessions are much better priced, as are the movies. They have the BEST popcorn you will find anywhere. You can refill your own beverages and sit wherever you like. Tuesday is a special discount day. My husband and I can both see a movie, get a large drink and two popcorns for under 20.00. The theater and restrooms are clean. We love Carmike and the staff. read more

Haven't seen a movie at this location in years and I was quite impressed. I purchased advance tickets for Secret Life of Pets 2 in 3D a few days before the movie aired but I was not given the 3D glasses until I got to the theater so I had to wait in line despite me purchasing the tickets in advance. AMC has adapted to a new form of purchasing movie tickets and the concession stand all in one. I have visited other AMC locations and it is the same concept. The lines are long and many people behind me grew impatient because they didn't understand why they had to wait in the concession line for tickets. If you are a moviegoer it's best to purchase the A-List pass and you will avoid the long waits. We had to find our movie on our own because there was no one at the ticket booth which was okay again the new concept. The seats were heated recliners and there were only six seats per row. There is also a semi wall behind the seats for the next row that creates privacy. The next best part is unlimited drinks. You don't have wait in line for a refill anymore here. There is a Coca Cola fountain and ICEE drink mixers on both sides of the concession. This location also sells beer and wine. Will return! read more

They no longer use the box office, which is weird, but if you are like me you going to concessions anyway. MUCH CHEAPER than the other theatre on Bower Parkway which is AWESOME these days. read more

Great alternative to other movie theatees in the area. Carmike does need some updating to their interior, but the price alone is much better than going to Regal, which is right around the corner. I had gone to the movies this past weekend to a 4:00 showing and regular adult admission is on $5.75 until 5:30 (you will already be paying $10.50 at Regal starting at 3). I want to say their evening prices are $9 (or so they were several years ago). The sound on the commercials before the previews was off, but once the previews started rolling, sound was fine. Theatres are smaller than Regal, so they may sell ot more quickly depending on what is playing. They may not always get some of the bigger names movies (think Hunger Games, Avengers) and Regal is right around the corner, but a plcae to go if there is a movie there that you want to see. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!! AMC classic Harrison 14. This place is trash the bathrooms are constantly disgusting. I visit this place almost three times a week or more with my A-list stubs account. The theatre is constantly dirty counters where registers never seem to be wiped down and there's dust all over the registers. I was there a day a man complained about a nail being in his popcorn and I almost left but my movie was too good. If there's one place to contract the Coronavirus this is the place. Also to add they never give anyone refunds when things go wrong like theaters blacking out and there's never any explanation as to why. The GM is never there to explain things or there to answer the phone. The food is good the employees are great but there does seem to be a lack of management when it comes to running this building. I actually found the small, out of place theater a relief. It is small and not fancy and kinda uncomfy and a little smelly, but it was significantly cheaper than the other theaters, have lots of discounts, and aren't as crowded. I didn't try the concessions because they're all typically overpriced and generic tasting. I'll go back. True story. read more

Not a bad movie theater, especially if they're showing films not readily available in other local spots. My wife and I went here last weekend to watch 'Ex Machina' and had a good experience. The staff are super friendly, though, and very customer service oriented. It was also pleasantly not crowded or swarming with teenagers, which is always a plus! read more

I used to like this theater; I overlook the uncleanliness of the establishment because it's a relatively good price for movies. However my last experience was unpleasant when I showed up for a movie and cashier 9903, a young woman with glasses, was completely rude to my friends and I. I had a coupon for a $5 popcorn and Icee drink and she cut me off asking "how many" when I was confused of her question. She had a rude tone through the entire transaction and quite frankly, I've had friendlier service at Regal Cinemas down the road. You should always come here before thinking going to Regal cinemas, I am not going to get into detail because I don't want to type to much, that would take forever to get into detail how amazing this place is! But they can't shine asghari much because people leave bad reviews and then people from out of town don't go there. Everybody goes to Regal cinemas in Irmo I think Carmike 14 is better! Visited this theater today to see Downton Abby movie. Excited about newly renovated theater and reclining seats only to be totally disappointed having to sit through 40 grueling minutes of commercials and previews. Yep...movie was supposed to start at 2:00 and didn't start until 2:40! Expected some previews but not 40 min of repeated tv commercials blasting through the sound system over and over. Will not return to this theater. read more

Ok so the theatre itself is great... lines were not bad, heated recliners are great, etc. my issue was today when I took my son to see small foot. Someone had put the wrong movie in and it happened to be a horror flick, the nun. There was apparently no one in the projector room and by the time parents realized this wasn't a preview most of the kids including mine had seen more than they should have. We all got our kids into the hallway and waited u til it was fixed. But not one time did I see an employee or manager, no apology no nothing. Considering my kid is now refusing to turn lights off or be in a room without our us, I feel that was the least they could have done. So I will say the theatre is nice. I wasn't impressed by the staff in the particular event at all. read more

Nothing wrong with this place. It is a bit dated, but the movies were fine, it did seem the sound was a little off, it kind of went up and down a few times. It was clean, and the people were friendly. The only negatives are that it looks dated, and it seems to be a bit of a ghost town, but if you wanna go see a movie, and pay a little less than other places, this is a good choice. read more

Good theatre. Yes, it's a bit smaller and older than some - but, heck, compared to the one in Lexington its light years better! try to go to a movie once a week (with my wife of 45 years) and this and Regal (Bower Parkway) are my two "go to" theatres. Keep up the good work. read more

Theater has the best value for your dollar in Columbia. Especially on Tuesdays when they're only 5.25$. They also have better popcorn , and customer service then it's competitors. When given the choice, I would rather come here or wait for it on Redbox then go anywhere else. read more

I remember when this was the plush new theater in town, and I used to go there all the time, but haven't been for a while. I heard the theater had been taken over by AMC and that they were supposed to be making major upgrades, plus they had a summer blockbuster movie playing that I wanted to see on the big screen, so went to see it on a Thursday night. I hope they just haven't gotten around to the renovations yet, because it was pretty shabby and depressing. This theater needs a complete overhaul. Two guys were working. The ticket window was closed, so I had to stand in line at the concession stand to purchase tickets. The theater was clean, except the hall men's room had a nasty toilet full of TP. When the movie started, the 3D was out of whack, so I had to go all the way down the hall to get one of the guys from the concession stand to fix it. (I wasn't the only person in the theater, but all the others except one just sat there looking around and adjusting their glasses like they were waiting for it to fix itself.) The attendant did come promptly and fix the problem, but I missed the first part of the show, which did not make me happy. AV Experience: Often theaters have the sound so loud you need earplugs, but this one actually seemed kind of muddy and flat, and the dialog sometimes was impossible to make out. I wished I had asked about one of those subtitle devices for the hearing impaired. The picture was okay, once the 3D was fixed. I can't speak to the concessions quality, because I didn't purchase any, but I did notice they have installed self-serve coke machines, which I think is part of the AMC revamp. I am really hoping that AMC will completely overhaul and update this theater to restore its glory, bring the AV equipment up to current standards, and make it worth paying $13 for a ticket. As it is right now, If I'm willing to wait a few months for the movie, I can have a better AV experience at home in my recliner with my big TV and surround sound. read more
