Parking was easy, and the theatre didn't look too busy around 1pm. Concession was expensive as you would have expected. I was a bit disappointed that Screen 1 didn't have reclining seats, just traditional seats. It was a smaller and older auditorium, but still clean. AC was good. Not sure if it's the standard now or just this movie, but for a 1:15pm showing, the movie didn't actually start until 1:45pm; a full 30 minutes of previews and advertisements before that! read more

The movie theaters is nice. Good set up. The thing I really like is we can buy the tickets and food online so that when we get there we don't have to stand in line. The popcorn and icee were good. Movie theater popcorn is just so good especially with extra butter. The one complaint I have is the seats are worn down and even some are torn. This was in theaters 10. It's hard to sit through a two hour movie with the seats worn down like that. We ended up seeing Michael Jackson movie and I was shifting in the seat throughout because of the seats. A solid movie theater experience! This was my go-to movie theater growing up, and I'm so glad that it's still a great experience years later. I visited on a weekday evening to watch Zootopia 2, and I forgot how fun it was to come to the movies. The interior is spacious and has arcade games near the entrance, perfect for kids. There is a whole concessions section, with plenty of snacks and drinks. The building has two sides of movie theaters, with a couple IMAX options. The actual movie theater feels very classic: rows of comfy chairs and a wide, detailed screen. This tends to be a pretty busy theater, which enhances the overall movie experience. Did you know you can go in for just popcorn? I recently discovered that they do a popcorn to go bag and had to check it out. Everyone was super friendly. Easy process to just pop in and hit the concession stand. They give a big bottle of butter to go with the popcorn. It may not seem like a lot, but it really goes a long way. We're halfway through the popcorn and maybe only 1/8 of the butter has been used. It's a fun treat for movie night at home! read more

Generally AMC has a pretty good hold on their theaters. However, once upon a time ago Saratoga used to be good now it's barely skirting by with a D+. This theater needs a face list, fresh paint, newer carpet, it needs a sprinkle of hope and magic to bring it back to it's former glory. It definitely needs some help. AMC Saratoga 14 is located in El Paseo de Saratoga plaza, where they have plenty of parking. They offer IMAX, so certain screens are huge and have plenty of seats. Though, they are stadium seating and not the recliners. Unfortunately, I find them uncomfortable to sit in because all the padding had worn out. They do sell alcohol inside. So you can bring your beer and watch your movie. Three soda machines with multitude of popular brands to choose from. Also a icee machine. My friends and I saw Marvel's newest movie, Captain America: A Brave New World. read more

I wouldn't recommend this theater. Old, dated seats and the auditoriums do not have ac. I don't think I've ever been in a theater that wasn't cold. It was very hot and uncomfortable to enjoy a movie. There were theatre goers who brought their own fans and seat covers. So this definitely was not a one off type occurrence of the AC not being on or not working. It's unfortunate for the price we pay for tickets that we can't have a comfortable and enjoyable experience. read more

Overall the worst experience I've had for a movie. The seats were the most uncomfortable and outdated seats made to man. Not to mention that the pricing for said seats was 50 bucks for 2 (yes it was in 3D) however that does not excuse the fact for that price; the seats should at least be least decent. The arm rests were broken and there's absolutely no room. The food was truthfully bad. Like how do you mess up popcorn it's the simplest thing to make. Now no hate to the workers especially since they do the best they can and work with what they got but. The pricing for sitting in those seats is actually inexcusable. The lights in the theater also barely dim so you still got some form of light sourced in. Thought AMC's were supposed to be "top tier" cinema/ theaters; what a joke. The worst theatre I experienced by far. I was in auditorium 14. The AC in the auditorium, if there was one, was barely on and it felt like it was almost 90 degrees. The seats were thin and pin straight while having no recline whatsoever. They also looked incredibly dirty and disgusting with stains and everything. The whole auditorium smelt bad right when you walk in. They also only have one side/exit and walkway to get in and out from. There should be two sides to walk out of your seats from for urgency. The whole theatre needs a redo. read more

I tried to get tickets to the Poor Things with Emma Stone at AMC Mercado at an earlier evening show but it was surprisingly sold out apart from the front row. It was getting late so AMC Saratoga was the only apparent option. It's been in theaters for a few weeks, so I was concerned it might not be in theaters much longer and wanted to see it before the Oscars. So I've always been aware that AMC Saratoga was a tier below the other AMC theaters in the South Bay. Therefore I try to avoid going there, but my sister lives in Saratoga and we like to watch movies together. We both used to live in LA, so we would go to the Arclight Theater and the Vista on Sunset Boulevard or the Chinese Theater. I'm also in the Motion Picture Editors Guild so I've been to screenings at ILM/Lucasfilm at the Presidio, Paramount, Warner Bros Studio, Universal, Sony, Pixar in Emeryville, Dreamworks, Disney, and so on. So it is not lightly that I say this: Theater #4 in AMC Saratoga is the most filthy and disgusting theater I have ever been in. I don't blame the ushers, who are young people that are just handed a broom and mop and told to go clean. I once was an usher in college so I know what it was like. This is complete negligence on the part of management and the owners of this theater. Just look at the other photos of the seats, which are deeply stained. Judging from the style of seats, they look like they are 20 years old. They are fixed; they don't recline at all. I've been to plenty of older theaters, but they sanitize the seats and wipe the cup holders and floors thoroughly. Maybe they only focus on cleaning the Dolby Cinema and the first run theater, who knows. In any case, they need to replace the seats and cup holders in that theater to make it respectable or close it down. I know AMC has gone through some difficult times financially, but to paraphrase Nicole Kidman's AMC promo, heartbreak doesn't feel nice in a place like that. As for the projection, the geometry of the screen didn't match the image. It looked like the width of the top needed to be balanced with the bottom because they were uneven. The image coming out of the projector was also flat while the concave screen is curved inward. So the image looked distorted around the edges. Oddly enough, there was one trailer that properly filled the screen but then the actual film was roughly matted around the edges. What I do know is that I will never return to AMC Saratoga even though it is closer to my sister's house. She can come over to AMC Mercado or AMC Sunnyvale on my side of town from now on. read more
