    Don't go to this place!!!

We ordered a drink and this is what my husband got on his drink. The manager was apologetic and offered for the tab to be free. We ordered food but we decided to cancel it and not eat it!

ehhhh? lady said we could sit anywhere outside so we were looking around to see which one we wanted to sit at - don't think we were standing for more than 10 seconds & she says to just choose one lol anyways we chose a seat & menu wasnt super extensive - I forgot to take a pic tho sausages - 4/10 didn't taste like much, kinda hot tho mule - 6/10 standard mule Skittles (cocktail) - 2/10 tasted like candy that was diluted in water lol meatballs 5/10 - standard meatballs? not bad but not amazing idk

The buffalo wings were cauliflower covered in sauce. I thought it was supposed to be chicken. Anyway this place is good

We come here occasionally for trivia night. I like this trivia because it's really fast paced and you get a lot more questions asked than most places. The drinks and food are usually pretty good as well!

Would you be able to accommodate for 30ish people on a Wednesday afternoon?

Typically, yes. Which Wednesday afternoon are you thinking? We do have trivia that starts at 7ish as well, so we should have the staff available, just would like to plan to make sure we can make sure you have a nice time

Are you guys still doing trivia on wednesdays? If so what time?

    Yes

According to their website, it shows they are closed? There is a message & it doesn't give any reopening date. I also tried calling, but kept getting a ring no answer. If open what are the holiday hours? (NYE, etc.).

The website that says that isn’t controlled by Katie Blooms. We are open Tuesday to Friday 3pm until late and sat/sun 11am to late. We will be open on NYE

    Do you do Irish breakfast?

    Yes, they serve Guinness.

The bartender was really helpful and made a recommendation that helped my decision. I was here to watch some soccer. I was constantly being checked on by staff. They were very pleasant. Seeing the Scottish drinking Boston dry I wish Scotland had played some of their games at Levi's Stadium. The closest thing to experience the Scottish atmosphere was this Irish pub. I was disappointed when I looked at the food menu and did not list corned beef tacos as stated on the website. Also the food menu listed only five items. I ordered fries and chicken wings. For beer I selected Smithwick's Irish Red Ale. The beer was refreshing however I paid too much for the price of food given the portion provided. The fries were crispy but paying for a basket of fries for $10 I expected the portion to be bigger. I will say the chicken wings were slightly crispy on the outside but most of all juicy inside. My pet peeve is when fried chicken wings are dry. Yet I paid over $18 for chicken wings. I thought I would get a dozen of wings; I only got five wings. For $18 I could have gone the deli section at the grocery store to get eight or ten pieces of fried chicken. Overall the Smithwick's was soothing but given the prices of food especially during a World Cup watch party there should have been more items listed on the food menu.

I decided, for the World Cup final, to haul ass to Almaden and watch it here. I arrived roughly an hour or so before the match was scheduled to begin and seated myself at the bar. The staff were nice and attentive, and prices are just okay for standard pub fare in my opinion. I kept it simple by deciding to get just a club soda and a simple grilled cheese sandwich. The total for both (without tip) was $19.70. Not the cheapest, but I've seen more expensive pub fare elsewhere. The club soda was as good as any, but the grilled cheese sandwich was a bit disappointing. It was small and lukewarm, and the accompanying fries were bland as well. For now, I give them a solid three stars. If I come back and the food is better next time around, I'll post a new and higher-ranked review. 3 stars

I was even wished a happy early birthday. When going into the bar, you walk down a staircase into a space that makes you forget you're in downtown San Jose with beautiful reds and burgundy decor. The staff is all smartly dressed; the bartender and bar back were both sweet and funny. I ordered a jack rose (my all time favorite), their seasonal watermelon waltz (this may be a new favorite for me, nice and refreshing) and one of their zero proof cocktails called a Mariposa which was soooo good as well. Memorable drinks were the perfect pear and the Andean Ascent. Perfect pear was not fruity at all and had a nice aroma and spice to it. The Andean ascent was a nice drink to start with, refreshing with a bit of fizz.

A fine place. No tribulations whatsoever. Happy to report that of the two times I've been here…read more(spaced over six months), Trials Pub is a winner. A handsome building with three distinct areas to settle in, it's easy to find comfort here. The choice mix-tape music with ample offerings from the 80s and 90s especially, help set the mood. And though this is an English pub, the music is not confined to the U.K. The beer selection is great - and international, as well. The Guiness menu on the wall is helpful, but there's even more to explore. Tumer Pils, Stella, et al. And there is a good whiskey menu, too. Trials is also great for food. I recently enjoyed their Pub Burger, which is a hearty plate of 1/2 lb. burger, with bacon, cheese, and the usual veggie accompaniment. The 'chips' are good and plentiful, but I have now tried their beer-battered onion rings -- and those are wonderful. Perfectly crunchy, not greasy, and just salty enough. If you do opt for the salad with any of your dishes, it's deep green and crafted with care. The side salad here is no afterthought. The Shepard's Pie looks great, and apparently is (though my dining companion failed to offer me a bite). Previously, I had enjoyed the falafel plate because sometimes, you just want falafel. Also previously, I tasted the chicken curry dish (hearty and delicious). The Mac n Cheese bites got high marks at our table, though I did not partake. The sausage rolls - classic pub fare - were very good on my first trip here. The cold water is refreshing and welcome. And the Tumer Pils hit the spot. It's all good here. Special mention for Thomas, one of the gents here. Super-likable, with a sly sense of humor, Thomas is a major asset at Trials Pub. Parking is easy -- or just ride-share -- just in case.

I appreciated the bartender allowing me to try the citrus beer first before ordering it - it was good, but maybe not full pint good. She said that some people don't care for it and it was better for me to try it first. I ended up ordering an IPA, one of the most popular apparently. Anyway, great service there. The Brussel sprouts off the main menu were very good and reasonably priced, nicely roasted and flavored. Generous portion. We ordered the rest of the items off the Happy Hour menu as we wanted to sample a lot of smaller items to get a sense of the breadth of their menu. Everything was good! The corned beef and cabbage slider was good and about what you'd expect. The Shepard's pie potato skin was nicely done in a compact size with good sauce. The Red Hot Royalty (spicy hot dog with fixings on top) was satisfying and about what you'd expect when looking at the picture. And the sausage roll was very nice because that curried ketchup made it special. The only thing that was a little not-great was they had a World Cup drink bundle that apparently overrode their usual Happy Hour discount on the beer - would have been nice to know about that beforehand as it would have changed my drink order. Or for them to acknowledge that it wasn't clear and just give the usual happy hour pricing for beer. Not a huge deal, just a bit subpar but didn't dock a star for that.

Our server was sweet, attentive, and generous with the soda refills, but by "coursing" our meal, we were left waiting for food and stuck there two hours, from seating to check. In her defense, she offered a dessert to make up for a forgotten appetizer. It's also a little too bright and noisy for me. As for the food, it was hit and miss. The Wedge is fine. The homemade crisps with ricotta dip were fine. The double smash burger is beefy and cheesy and filling, but a little one dimensional (pickle and mustard would help). My cocktail was judged Weak from my alcohol-sensitive wife. The Brookie is very sweet- it's like eating fudge, so if you love eating frosting straight from the can or you're the Fly, you'll love it. As for the ultra dry, weapon-grade hard, bavarian pretzel, you'll need to eat it Joey Chestnut style, soaking it in a glass of water before eating it.
