Ancient Grains with chicken, shrimp, tomatoes and garlic.

This is a landmark here in Kingwood, and it goes to show that they run a great restaurant since they have been here so many years. Our club meets once a month for lunch at a local restaurant and we all enjoyed our meals here. The variety of Italian options is quite large and they do some with a special twist on the traditional recipes. Several dishes are from family recipes. And it was so nice that they were able to accommodate our fairly large group. I especially enjoyed the light and healthy menu selections and had the Molto Fresco which had chicken, shrimp, grape tomatoes, and sauteed garlic on a bed of Ancient Grains with olive oil and a balsamic vinegar glaze. It tasted so good and didn't slow me down for the rest of the afternoon!

This restaurant has some history, first established 39 years ago! Though a bit out of the way, it's definitely worth a visit. I had first taken note of it while searching for some nearby Italian restaurants. I knew I was in for a treat when I found out this establishment was part of the Raffa family. I had been to the restaurant Raffa many times and enjoyed the lake view. We split an appetizer of the fried oysters and grilled brie. Both were excellent! I opted for the creamy tomato bisque next, and it was perfectly bright and creamy. For my mains, I ordered the veal osso bucca after asking the waitress what the specials were for the day. My dining partner ordered the chicken piccata, which was an off menu item. My osso bucca was pretty tender and tasty, but the bed risotto it was nestled in, outshined the meaty goodness! It was so dang tasty! The service was a bit slow at times. Dinner seemed to drag on. By the time we ordered dessert, the restaurant was practically empty. Given their older clientele, this was not a big surprise. The complimentary birthday dessert was a half order of their Zuppa Inglese, a traditional Italian cake. It was light and perfect. Definitely worth another visit! I am so happy to find a great Italian place on this side of town.

Food was served separately from appetizers to the soups / salads and then to the entrees. Each were served with garlic bread and everything seemed fresh. All of the food was very pleasant and came in hot. The service was good but it was a Monday so it seemed to be not that busy. The waitress was attentive and filled our glasses when near empty. She also boxed up our food to go and labeled each entree with the name and date albeit she had switched two of them around likely accidentally but it's the thought that counts. The atmosphere was very relaxed with the restaurant being very dimly lit and felt very old school. The establishment was very clean despite how much garlic bread crumbs we had gotten on the table. Only overt downside during our visit was the poor connection in the area and it did not seem like there was WiFi. Otherwise food was pretty good and service was as well.

If you've never tried Amedeo's in Kingwood, you are missing out! The food is over the top! I've never had a bad meal here. They win for best marinara you will ever eat! It's such a great place for a date night, celebration, or really anytime. Last night we celebrated my friends 50th birthday and they were so accommodating! We were a party of 13 and they took such great care of us. We had a perfect evening!! Everyone LOVED their food, and the service was impeccable. The ONLY reason I won't give 5 stars is their outdated decor. It's past time for an update. And they probably feel like they don't have to because the food is so good. (Seriously it's just that good) However, if they did, you couldn't get in the door of this place. With that being said, it still has a relaxing vibe that is very nice. Fantastic food and 5 star service!

Virgilio Art got the special treatment today. Jace May invited me to one of the best kept secrets in Kingwood,Texas. AMEDEO'S Italian restaurant. AMAZING. In this pic our server and manager got in the selfie to top off a fine and fun dining experience. All of their food is made from scratch and tastes like nothing I've ever tasted before.

Zammitti's is right on the lakeshore with a boat dock very close by which we used. Part of the dining area faces the lake for nice views. Zammitti's has a 3 course lunch special for $16.60 which we all took advantage of. I ordered a salad to start with a shrimp primavera entree and then a mini cannoli for dessert. The side house salad had string cheese, sliced tomato, black olives and carrot shavings with string cheese on top. It was a very good tasting start. The pasta dish had grilled shrimp and vegetables bathed in an alfredo sauce on top of fettuccine. This dish pleasantly surprised me in a good way. The serving size was like a dinner portion with several shrimp included . It was delicious and rich in flavor. Finally the mini cannoli made with cheese and milk chocolate chips was a nice sweet ending that was just right size wise. Our table service was excellent, This meal was an outstanding value at that price point. It was very filling too. I would love to come back here for dinner. Zammitti's is an excellent Italian option for a meal. Kingwood is lucky to have it. This meal was close to being a 5.

The staff are trained extremely well and have a wonderful table side manner. As for the food, everything is delicious! I enjoyed a sangria cocktail to drink. For food, I highly recommend the garlic knots to start. For my main, I had the Zammitti's ravioli. The pink sauce was phenomenal and I loved the mushroom filling of the raviolis. The portion was very generous and we had leftovers of everything. There's plenty of free parking and it's beautiful to sit outside or walk around the area in the nicer weather.

The main problem was that the food didn't nearly match the actual photos of what we saw before booking. The first course had just a small smear of goat cheese on a small piece of bread and strawberry jam not a balsamic reduction. The salad in the second course had shrimp that appeared grilled in the photo but was more like boiled shrimp and much smaller than the photo. The pasta course was good. The biggest disappointment was the 9oz filet which was so over seasoned and extremely salty. We couldn't finish it and they need to remove whatever seasoning they are using. Also the shrimp and crab cake topper on the filet was way smaller than what was in the photo and more breading than shrimp or crab. I will say, the service as always was excellent and a shout out to Mason. He was attentive to guests needs and seems to enjoy his work. We love Carrabbas and will continue to dine there but not sure about returning for a wine pairing.

While the restaurant does show a bit of age and could benefit from a refresh, the quality of food and hospitality absolutely delivered. I opted for lighter portion of Chicken Parm with Spaghetti, and the flavors were spot on. My partner chose the Chicken Shrimp Carbonara and we kept going back and forth between each other's plates because both dishes were that good. As for the soups, Zuppa Toscana & Chicken Gnocchi were decent. Minestrone tasted very strong in dry herbs and it was my least favorite. The meal wrapped up with Andes Chocolate Mints, it was simple and the perfect sweetness to end the night.

We both found it tasty and not overpowering. So I'm glad to see although Olive Garden would not be my first choice for Italian food. It certainly is not the last if you're looking for a place to go with a with a large group of desire a little wine with your mail and relax joy Garden is a pretty good choice.
