This review is based off of UberEATS delivery. The burrito I ate had to be the worst burrito my friend and I have ever eaten. I just want to start off by saying their menu describes a burrito having choice of rice, beans, protein, salsa, with lettuce and pico de gallo. Sounds like a normal burrito right? My burrito was literally 95% rice and beans, 5% chicken with a tiny squeeze of sour cream. The lettuce and pico were MIA. The "cilantro rice" has no cilantro and they gave me black beans instead of pinto. I gave it two stars only because it's open late, and it's available on UberEATS. Amelia's became a go-to for us SO fast! We tried it for the first time and then proceeded to order from here every day for a week. Their Mexican plates (burrito bowl) are so good, and very filling - more than at other similar places (both chain and local). I usually order mine with chicken and grilled vegetables, while my boyfriend orders double chicken. These are both counted as extra meat, but still come to a decent price. I really enjoy that the vegetables are a mix of about 8 different vegetables and not just sautéed peppers and onions as most Mexican places seem to have. I also like that there are many options for proteins, including 3 types of chicken. All of their other ingredients are great too, such as their guacamole which has great flavor. I love that it's pretty inexpensive and delicious! Clearly, from my week straight of eating here, I will return - often. This place is aces! I am a huge fan of a different taqueria but we went here recently and I have to say I think the burrito is a shade tastier here. My friend gave me a taste of her torta and I can report that was lovely as well. All the ingredients are fresh tasting and they have vegetarian options which is a plus for our family and my vegan troublemaker daughter. The place is small and has community tables but that just adds to the ambiance and coziness of the atmosphere. After tonight's experience, I will never spend money in this location -- I'll just wait at the busy Huntington one , at least they treat you with kindness and respect. I am from Mexico and their pastor meat is fairly good, cilantro and onion with the spiciest salsa (it's not that crazy spicy) and don't forget to add lime, that's what you need. Best for take-out but also a few tables inside the small restaurant. Order at the counter. Pick your vehicle, pick your protein, pick your fillers. The corn tortillas for the tacos are light and durable. The bowls are a great deal with plenty of room for yellow rice, savory black/pinto beans, salsas, and veggies. Recommend the slightly pickled red onions for a topper and the salsa roja, creamy with a bite of heat. The guacamole is also more an avocado crema. Al pastor (pork) is very similar to brisket, tender with some sweetness. The spicy chicken isn't overpowering but brings a nice kick. Not recommended. I really wanted to like this place. From outside this shop looks really cute. However, once you read the menu, you realize they are looking to nickel and dime you for every last thing that you would otherwise get for free at any other similar restaurant. Want some corn on your burrito? 25 cents. Want some sprinkles of cheese? More money. They even post on their self serve drink fountain that they don't allow refills. When we arrived, it took 5 minutes for the staff to acknowledge we were there. No one was in line in front of us. I had a lengua burrito that was unexciting. The meat was relatively well seasoned but the rest of the ingredients drowned it out with blandness. This was due to the fact the free ingredients are extremely limited and bland and I, for one, cannot afford to pay $17 for a burrito with all the regular fixings. read more

We headed to Boston for The Black Dahlia Murder concert and figured before hand we should grab something to eat. Originally I had tried this place out before with my bandmates Ev, Corey, and John but had to go back with Ricardo and do a proper review of this place. Amelia's Taqueria is the definition of a hole in the wall place. If you're not careful you might drive right past it with the trees covering the sign and view but trust me, it's worth it. When you walk in you are greeted to some upbeat Spanish music and to your left there is a moderate variety of hot sauces for all your spicy needs. On the wall you can see the wide selection of flavors if you are a fan of Jarritos (A Mexican Soda) or San Pellegrino (Italian Citrus Soda) as well as some typical Coke Products. As you head to the line to place an order you can see they have a wide variety of options for your feeding pleasure. You have many different proteins and fillings for your Burritos and Tacos and my favorite thing to order, CHIMICHANGAS! Since I am not a picky person, I had Ricardo order our food and pick the fillings for our late lunch. The people behind the counter were friendly, and patient. We were also pleasantly surprised with the girl who rung us up who, during a little small talk waiting for our food, we found out she was Colombian like Ricardo and I. Very nice crew! Once the food was ready, Ricardo and I couldn't wait to dig in. His description of the Chimichanga: "The Chicken has a nice juicy texture with a lemony zest. It's Fantastic! It has Grilled Chicken, Black Beans, Rice, Pico de Gallo and Cheese. IT'S DELICIOUS!" My thoughts about this Chimichanga is all the different textures along with the presentation coming together to form this beautiful dance of flavors in your mouth. You have the crunch of the exterior of the flour tortilla, you have the creaminess of the Spicy Aioli and melted sliced cheese they put on top after freshly taking out of the fryer, they also top it with handful of pickled red cabbage and cilantro for garnish. Love it or hate it, cilantro is undeniably a very Spanish flavor. As Ricardo mentioned, the chicken is perfectly grilled and juicy, the veggies are bright and have an undeniably fresh crunch, the rice is perfectly cooked, not too sticky and mushy, not to hard or undercooked, but as the Italian in me would like to describe as Al Dente, similar to perfectly cooked pasta. The black beans are very well seasoned, all of it from the pico de gallo down to the hot sauce they use to give it a spicy bite, this Chimichanga is delicious! Deadpool would be proud. Final Score: 5/5 This Chimichanga is the best I have ever tasted. To be fair most placed don't even bother making Chimichangas because deep frying a burrito is a lot of work to clean up afterwards (per a friend of mine who owns a Mexican style street food restaurant) but because of the quality of the ingredients, the ambiance, the service, and food itself it gets a perfect score. I have never eaten in this restaurant but I had to leave a review for catering because it was a terrible experience. We ordered a taco bar to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Amelia's are her favorite. It took so many confusing emails. The instructions on the catering page of their website is not at all clear. There is no one there to call and ask questions. I finally emailed on the correct day to order for 10-12 people to be picked up two days later at 5:00 pm. THEN I had to call them to give them my credit card # over the phone, which is inconvenient, sloppy, and unsafe. My husband went to pick up the order on the appointed day and it hadn't yet been started 15 minutes after the specified time. He had to wait 45 minutes. I was told it was on the way and would be here in 10 min. 6:45:call again. I am told it is arriving, but she asks for me to repeat my order to her. 7:00:call 3 times, no answer. 7:05:call again. She asks me to repeat my order and says it will be there very soon. 7:30pm:call again. She again has me replace my order and says it will be right there. 7:45pm: call 2 more times. No answer. I officially have up. But my roommate hasn't. She calls and the girl tells her to text her order to the number. 8:20: my roommate calls again and is told her food is on the way and then is hung up on. 8:30pm: she calls 2 more times but no answer. Honestly, if we were told our food wasn't going to arrive in the first place, we could have moved on a lot sooner. Unfortunately, the hostess kept telling us our food was arriving so we just kept waiting. It was like it was some game to her. Well, I went to bed without dinner. What a cruel game. My husband and I dropped by to grab a quick lunch in between appointments and seeing that it was a relatively new establishment, we gave it a chance. We were sorely disappointed - I ordered a small burrito with carnitas and the amount of carnitas in the small burrito would fit half of my palm though I got a whole lot of beans and rice. I understand that it was the small burrito and beans and rice are cheaper but for the price, I expected more. My husband who ordered the big version received just a tad more meat but not significantly more. Overall, we felt like it was overpriced for what we got and we would not mind paying more if you actually get more non-cheap ingredients with it. Amelia's burrito was average. It was flavorful, if not a little bit too salty. It was well wrapped and well packed so you don't have to worry about the dreaded leakage of valuable burrito assets. A piece of advice for the vegetarians: stay away from the grilled vegetables. If you want a "veggie burrito," simply ask them to add some peppers into the burrito. The grilled vegetables look tired, sitting in a pan where it appears they had been neglected. For 8.64, a veggie burrito with guac is a tad bit expensive. read more

Food is really good very well seasoned and they let you put anything you want in your taco just like at home, you know when you bite in to a taco and some of the fill-in falls out ? Today I had an Al Pastor burrito with their hottest hot sauce and I was pleasantly surprised to find a hot sauce in this area that is actually pretty hot. It might just be me, but I think they amazing tortilla chips there. They aren't free like at Habaneros, but I don'tmind paying the extra dollar fifty for that quality. Honestly, this place is just second tier compared to Anna's Taqueria and Los Amigos. I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars only because they try to sneakily charge me for everything (they've recently increased the prices on a lot of additional ingredients-but hey, they're a business right?). They can be quite stingy with the guacamole, which can be quite a nuisance. Additionally, try to be careful at the check out because you could get charged for a large when you actually got a small. I go here a lot mainly because it's convenient for me. I always order a quesadilla, which I admit, is really good. Their chicken is cooked really well, and they give you good portions. I'd suggest always getting a small because the portions they put in both the large and small do not differ significantly at all. Definitely try their quesadilla! read more

I love this place. Note, I hate the bloated burritos made by Chipotle and prefer the Mexican food one gets in San Diego or New Mexico. The flavors at Amelia's are light and pleasant, ingredients are fresh, and I have always gotten a good balance of meat, rice, and beans. I've tried the carnitas (fabulous), al pastor (also fabulous), and green chile (pork; good flavor but too chunky for a soft taco, burrito may work better). The tacos are traditional small soft tacos, two or three make a meal. The small burrito was good for me for a meal. The staff has always been very friendly. I did get one guy who was a bit uncommunicative, it became clear it was lack of English. I switched to Spanish and we were fine. They just added lemonade, watermelon juice and horchata to the Jarritos and fountain drink selection. I ordered delivery from here yesterday. A grilled chicken salad with extra grilled veggies, a side of rice and beans and a small soda (to meet the minimum online delivery cost). The chicken was tasty and there was a lot of grilled veggies, the beans were good. The rice was BLAND, very bland. My salad had no cheese and no dressing (it's described as coming with both, even has you choose what kind of dressing...). They didn't send any utensils! How am I supposed to eat a SALAD without a FORK??? You're better off going to Anna's and waiting in line. This was my first and LAST time giving this establishment my business. My roommate and I ordered from here through foodler. I got a burrito and my roommate got a quesadilla. Foodler let's you check off what you want in your burrito/quesadilla, giving the restaurant a very clear list of what to include. We each requested guacamole (**each an extra 85 cents). My roommate also got an order of salsa on the side (**$1.25 extra). The guacamole was not included on either item. The "side" of salsa was in one of those plastic cups that holds a total of 1 tablespoon of salsa. This place is a rip off and on top of that the food was very bland. I went in to try out the new place and had my chicken burrito made by some crusty staff. But some of the best food comes from the crustiest of hearts, and so I stood firm. I think the guy making my burrito didn't speak English well so that could definitely account for some of the perceived crustiness. Also when I asked for hot salsa he definitely gave me pico de gallo, which isn't even salsa. Despite that I took my burrito home for further testing. I think the taste was significantly improved by dousing it in my own hot sauce but I found the ratio of everything to be right, and the cheese was melted onto the tortilla so that was good. I would say that they are much closer to Anna's or Habaneros than Chipotle or Qdoba. I really liked the way their chicken was marinated, that was the standout of the order. I haven't been back yet, but I'm willing to brave the crusty staff to try it again sometime, and hopefully get hot hot salsa this time. read more

They also have an awesome drink selection (when it's stocked) with horchata, jarritos, Mexican coke and other Mexican sodas. Very small inside, probably seats 8 comfortably. The service is fast (obviously considering its a build-your-own style place) but the Employees aren't too friendly. It may have to do with language barrier, but they aren't very polite, either way.
