This place is near my place of work. Love Mexican so was super excited when they opened. I have both dined in and done take out. Both experiences have been pleasant. They are VERY fast with orders - food is always fresh. Staff friendly and delighful. Would definitely recommend! PS: they gave free cupcakes on valentines day! ( see pic :) )

Street Corn. This was the worst street corn I've ever had in my life. This literally tasted like milk and salt.

The food was terrible. I've never had a more saltier meal than this. I would highly recommend people to stay away from this restaurant when considering Mexican food. I had the street corn which was very watery and salty. The tacos were just as bad I regret even giving this place a try but as you know sometimes you miss on spots and this is terrible.

El Barrio Mexican Grill (4.5/5) I've been to El Barrio Mexican Grill twice since it opened a couple weeks ago, and they offer some pretty good Mexican food. The first time I went I got the Birria Trio Tacos. The tacos were very flavorful and the consomme they were served with was great to dip them in. The second time I went, I ordered one of each of their empanadas (beef, chicken, cheese, and special). These were my favorite thing I have ordered from El Barrio so far. They were very crisp and tasty and came with a side of chipotle sauce that went quite well with them. I've also had the carnitas and fish tacos which were great and very flavorful. El Barrio is a great addition to the food spots around the BU medical center, and I would definitely recommend checking it out. It has been pretty busy around lunch time since it opened, so you may want to go before or after the lunch time rush.

Very friendly staff, well decorated and clean place. The food is also good, I came here around 10 pm to grab something to eat because I had a family emergency at the hospital and wanted something to eat other than the snacks the hospital has at this time of the night. Empanadas, Steak burrito and 3 Leches for dessert made our dinner and our stay at the hospital less dreadful. Highly recommend this place.

I had a craving for birria tacos and was on the hunt, and found out that spot recently opened right next to BMC. The birria trio caught my attention, and it was good. It wasn't the best birria tacos I've ever had, but it was good. The meat was tasty and the sauce was savory. My birria craving was satisfied. I also ordered some of the other tacos, and they were also good! Given the convenient location, I bet this place is popular for lunch time. For dinner, it seemed like lots of people were ordering out. There's enough seating for 10-15 people inside if you choose to dine in.

Waited for over 20 mins for one chicken taco. The staff had no answer for me. Left with getting my food or refund. Won't go back.

We walked in without reservations and they were fully booked for the night, but they do have bar seating and a couple of side tables where you can grab a quick bite from the full menu. The ambiance is a 10/10. The decor is insane in the best way. The red chandeliers are stunning, the bar setup is perfection, and the low lighting with the table centerpieces really ties everything together. Even the bathrooms were insanely beautiful which is crazy to say but it stood out. It's rare to find restrooms that are that clean and well-designed. The drinks were great. I can't remember the name of the cocktail I got, but it had red sugar on the rim and it perfectly matched the whole aesthetic of the restaurant. For food, I got the steak taco and the fish taco and both were delicious. We were just stopping by for a quick bite before heading to the movies , but I really wish we could have stayed for a full meal because everything was amazing. Hopefully we'll get the chance to come back again one day.

I had been craving fish tacos for a really long time, and I was delighted to find a whole section of the menu dedicated to them. We started off with margaritas - one of the best companions to fish tacos - and I ordered mine spicy with jalapeño. For food, we shared the lobster empanadas and chorizo and potato taquitos. I ordered the tempura fish tacos for myself. Our margaritas were brought out shortly - mine was refreshing but lacked the kick from the jalapeño that I was hoping for (there was only one thin slice of pepper). Our food was brought out shortly, and I found it a bit overwhelming when our appetizers and tacos came out together. I started with my tacos, and these were excellent. The fish was flaky and fried to perfection, and I loved the rainbow of sauces and toppings. Plus, the tortillas were nice and sturdy and didn't tear. The lobster empanadas were super decadent, and I appreciated the substantial amount of lobster stuffed inside. I was too full to eat much of the taquitos but took a few bites. These also had good flavor but weren't standouts. Next time, I'd just get the tacos and maybe a light app. Towards the end of our visit, the restaurant seemed to clear out, and we had a difficult time trying to locate our server for the bill. Overall, we had a nice meal and satisfied the fish taco craving.

The Seaport space is just as stunning--decked out in pink, super aesthetic, and definitely a fun, photo-worthy vibe. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. For drinks, I ordered a pitcher margarita with jalapeño, and it was disappointing. It didn't taste fresh and came across more like artificial jalapeño flavoring rather than real infusion--and it wasn't spicy at all. For food, we ordered a variety of small plates to share. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out. It felt a bit underwhelming compared to the atmosphere. The biggest issue was the service. It was very slow throughout the night, and getting the check was especially frustrating--it took about 30 minutes, and we had to ask multiple times before finally receiving it. Overall, the ambiance is beautiful and perfect for a celebration, but the drinks and service didn't match the vibe. Hoping this was just an off night.

We started off with two drinks- a frozen mangonada and this passion fruit drink. They were both solid but I liked the mangonada better because the passion fruit cocktail had too much pulp in it! For food, we started off with chips and guac. This guac was some of the best I've had. It was super fresh and you could tell exactly what ingredients they used. We also their pork ribs! The ribs fell off the bone and I loved the warm sauce except it was a tiny bit dry. The sauce was reminiscent of an umami bbq sauce. We decided to try their zucchini dish, as recommended by the manager! I don't love zucchini usually but I liked it. It was roasted with cheese, sauces, and some shrimp. Very creative, Lastly we got the tuna ceviche of the day. I didn't really like this because it was really heavy on the dill. I think it would've been good without it. However the presentation was gorgeous and it came with plantains. Overall the vibes are superb here for a date, girls night, or whatever!!

It is a cute spot, but just a heads up that the entrance is a little hard to find- I thought I had walked in through the back door. The restaurant is actually located in the public alley, not directly on Gloucester Street. The food was really good. I am obsessed with their rice and beans. Everyone seemed to love what they ordered! However, Im taking away two stars because of our service and our waitress. When we sat down, she casually asked, "Can I get you started with chips and guac?" At pretty much every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, that phrasing implies it is complimentary. At no point did she mention that the guac was an added charge. We later found out we were charged $16 per guac, yes because she brought over TWO (!!) which totaled over $30, which felt really misleading. If something is meant to be an appetizer you are paying for, I expect it to be framed as, "Would you like to order any appetizers?" not presented as a default and free starter. That part left a sour taste in my mouth. I would consider coming back for the food, but I would be much more cautious ordering anything they recommend.
