Boarding process is super slow considering everyone literally has paid for seats. Airlines in my opinion should start from back to front which would cut alot of time of bumping and knocking ppl around trying to get to your seat. Flight attendants were professional and pilots were attentive. You still get a drink and cookies for snack. Movies and tv selection was nice. Flight was delayed heading home to STL! Gate agent are very helpful, boarding starts with ample time for all passengers to board, and seating for the aircraft provides plenty of space for above average sized men. I'm a frequent flyer, and was reminded today why American Airlines is the worst........Received a 6am text alerting me that my 12:30pm flight was cancelled and that I was rebooked on a 2:30 flight......shit happens, no problem, however I was not thrilled the upgraded seat I paid for on my original flight landed me a middle seat on the rebook - no problem, but how about acknowledging and refunding the money I paid for the upgrade WITHOUT me having to prod.......as I was pulling out of the driveway, received a text that my second flight was delayed 2 hours.......then 5 minutes later, that flight was also cancelled.......WTF!!! For the record, no weather issue either here in Dallas nor in Phoenix where I'm going........3 strikes you're out, but I'm not falling for the banana in the tailpipe......I immediately booked another airline and called AA customer service for a refund on the front half of my trip, but keep the back end since I'm flying home with clients......Apparently AA won't issue a refund until after your entire round trip booking is complete - yet another inconvenience that screws the customer - moving forward, I will ALWAYS pay more to fly ANYONE other than American - oh, and when I did call customer service, got stuck in the queue because I didn't know my frequent flier number......for the record, I had my reservation confirmation number handy.....and when I finally got to talk to an agent, she immediately transferred my call to someone else - customer service? Both AA flights that we boarded today were on time, which we were thankful for. The Dallas airport is huge one, so you should always make sure to allow enough time to get to your gate. You will probably need to take the sky tram since it can be a long walk. read more

Between the volume of people and everything going on with TSA and the lines, it can be a lot. I still need to get that TSA ID thing figured out. But I cannot blame that on the airline. I hate American so much. I've reviewed other cities versions of American over the years, and I've never had a positive word to say. Alas, they are a monopoly and we live in an oligarchy so here we are, forced to deal with their ineptitude to fly affordably. In Dallas, they took over an hour to issue a travel credit for a hotel overnight, and they wouldn't reimburse the one I had already booked. They reimbursed my friend partially, even though she didn't pay for the hotel, and they just kept saying no when I asked why someone with the same booking could get a partial refund but I could not. Sheesh! I can't stand when, I have a connecting flight here in DFW I do try my hardest to get a connecting flight elsewhere, but sometimes the time of day, I fly out or where I am going is sometime unavoidable unfortunately. I've had it to where I am scheduled to fly out of terminal B and then 20 mins before boarding the app will change to terminal A or C this airport is huge and you'll have to either walk or catch the electric train to the terminals and still walk far depending on the gate and I have almost missed my connecting flight do to this foolishness. I never had this happen with any other American airline flight except this location. DFW please do better. I love flying into Phoenix or St. Louis hardly any issues. I wish I had something good to say, but I don't except the airport is nice I guess. Anyway, if you fly American try to avoid connecting through DFW unless this is your final destination. My last review( also a 5 star one)for this great airline was just before Covid in November 2019. It got better. This airline got better - on time departures and arrivals, the friendliness and above and beyond actions of the team, newer airplanes, updated lounges, easier gate check in process, perks for frequent travelers to name a few. May 8, 2025 - a lady with 2 month old twins just boarded with her father and was stressed out. The flight attendant Maria in Business Class immediately grabbed her carry on bags and placed them in the overhead compartment asking what items she would need first. On the same flight another young mother traveling with her tantrum throwing 4 year old daughter had to go back to the plane entry door to get her second bag. The attendant Kendra offered to baby sit and picked up the screaming and hollering girl and just gave her love and pacified her. This was a 16 hour 40 minutes flight- longer because we had to avoid and go around a region that has seen a mini war erupt with missiles and drones in the last 36 hours. To be calm and so giving and outward during these crazy times - these are just 2 examples of how absolutely wonderful and amazing and giving American Airlines flight attendants are - by the way I don't know if this is in their job descriptions. On a long flight from Asia to back home in the US, flight attendant Eishwari got down on all fours to look for my charger plug that my clumsy ass dropped under the seat. Unsung heroines, great human beings - you are the backbone of the airlines and why we loyally keep coming back. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms who work at AA and are reading this. God Bless You! Hey, I completely understand the maintenance concerns, terminal changes, 3 hour delays, etc. but none of this was the travelers fault . Terrible airline! It's like combing the worst of a budget airline and a conventional airline. Both planes did not have a screen. The WiFi was terrible. The service was bad as well. They couldn't even update my gate. My boarding pass had the wrong gate on it. When I got there, I was like my boarding pass says this plane is going to DC. The gate agent was like "You need to Google your flight number to find your gate". All the other airline sent me updates or if I refreshed my boarding pass the gate would update. I couldn't believe I had to google my flight number at the last minute to find my gate. I literally had to run to my gate. Luckily it was in the same terminal otherwise I would have missed my flight. Then I got on the plane and instead of leaving on time, they waited and loaded the plane with stand bys. I don't know why they had to wait till the last minute to this when they knew the flight was not full. Both times the flight was late. Just a bad experience all around. read more

We are on our final leg of our trip to see Alaska via princess cruise ship out of Seattle. We flew Delta to Seattle with no problems and even flew American Airlines from Seattle to Dallas Fort Worth with no problems and a really great crew and flight experience. Dallas Fort Worth is a different experience altogether. I'm sure it is because it is the main hub for American Airlines but everything here is disorganized and loud and confusing. Multiple gate changes and delays. They had everybody get ready to board a plane that wasn't even here yet for the longest time and now we are looking at our second lengthy delay just to get from Dallas to San Antonio Texas. I was on American Airlines, in the first class cabin, as part of my second of three legs (3 different aircraft) to Central America. The flight originated at LAX about 30 minutes after midnight. The second leg from DFW to MIA served us breakfast (there was no hot meal on the LAX to DFW leg). This could be pre booked in advance, and that is what I did. They call it Premier Dining, and the American Airlines website . Jazzes it up, to make you think, it will be a gourmet meal. What a laughing joke. It was a rubbery dry cheese omelette, with even drier and hard potatoes. The fruit was okay. Really, in First Class? Very shameful. The Stewardess (Kristi), provided excellent service. Better than expected. I redeemed some miles for a one-way flight on American Airlines from Seattle to Seoul at a decent price. However, it required backtracking to Dallas and an overnight layover. In Seattle, I was able to check my bag all the way to Seoul, without having to pick it up in Dallas and re-check it the next morning for my flight to South Korea. As a result, I was able to go directly through the TSA line and to the gate at DFW. The waiting area at DFW was comfortable, with plenty of nearby gate seating and many dining options, albeit at airport prices. I was dreading the leg to Seoul as the flight was over 15 hours long. The flight was on a Dreamliner plane with average legroom. In spite of the flight duration, I thought the flight was pretty good. The IFE system has plenty of entertainment options and the food was decent. They actually serve decent Asian meals on the Seoul route, so I had beef bibimbap for dinner and some Asian style noodles on the second meal. Despite the long journey, I did not feel tired upon arrival, which is a good thing when commuting in an unfamiliar city and country. While AA is not the first airline I would consider for international flights, I would consider flying with them again internationally based on this experience. One last note if you buy a main cabin ticket, you are able to make changes without a fee. Albeit, you do pay the fare difference. I found a lower rate, so I was able to save some miles and change to a better flight itinerary. For award ticket changes, I would call the frequent flyer phone number instead of the main customer service line. The mainline customer service representative did not seem to be able to see the fare price that I found on the AA website. read more

American Airlines out of DFW, like most airlines, is always hit and miss for me. When I am flying into Dallas, I usually do so via AA as the options for directs from Nashville are always the best. We normally fly into and out of Concourse D, which is one of the hub concourses for American and features lounges, customer service desks and lots of AA gates. Service for American is inconsistent among counter attendants, gate associates and flight attendants. Flights attendants are usually friendly, however ever gate agent I encounter at DFW for American seems to be mad. They are abrupt in communication and always give the feeling like you're bothering them. Luckily the flight attendants are friendly, welcoming and helpful for the most part. Another thing with AA is their plane fleet which needs some TLC. Condition and cleanliness of the recent planes I was on for AA were questionable at best. From ripped seats to not functioning vents and more. Not a good look. Overall, American is a preferred airline for my company trips. I would love to give my full loyalty to the brand, but I'm not fully sold on the airline for my full travel needs personally just yet. read more

I'm still a fan of American Airlines, and the group based out of Dallas is typically pretty strong. The personnel at the gates wrangle passengers well most of the time, and I feel like I always get on the plane in an efficient manner. The planes leaving from here have almost always been clean (which means the Dallas-based crew responsible for this does a decent job). Dallas is a major hub for American Airlines, so I recognize that flight delays and gate changes happen more frequently in this city, which creates a challenge for passengers and airline staff. This situation is beyond Dallas-based staff's control. My most recent flight had 2 delays and 3 gate changes, but I had adequate notification of all of these things and was able to make my flight on time. This means the Dallas group was processing the information they received quickly and getting it out to us promptly. Be kind and recognize that the people behind the counters are not trying to make your travel difficult. read more

Flight from SFO - Central Texas using American Eagle connection. Because of the connection American Airlines was my only seamless flying option, so I am not downgrading their business class against other airlines. The checkin, gate, and cabin crew staff were all personal and attentive, and made sure that my needs and requests were fulfilled. The cabin seating was comfortable, the meal / beverage service acceptable. In the case of my lunch I preordered the Braised Rib with Mac & Cheese, this was not an option unless ordered ahead on my flight. Overall my experience was relaxed and stress free. read more

American Airlines gave me one of the worst travel experiences I've ever had... yet somehow, I still end up on their flights. I was flying from JFK to Houston to visit my sister. First off, no direct flights from JFK to Houston (note to self: fly out of LGA next time for a Texas trip). My flight was delayed so badly that I was guaranteed to miss my connecting flight in Dallas. Instead of dealing with the frustration of sleeping in the airport overnight, I decided to let my flight go and try again the next day. Unfortunately, the only option they offered was still going to have me spending the night in Dallas until a 6am flight. That ended up being my very first (and hopefully last) time sleeping in an airport. Lesson learned. The one upside? Their in-flight WiFi always comes through for me thanks to my T-Mobile account. I used to be very loyal to America West Airlines out of Phoenix with a hub at one time in Columbus, Ohio. Then, it was US Airways flying across country, again from Phoenix, and I was getting upgraded regularly. Now, it's American Airlines that I frequent along with past America West Airlines and US Airways patrons. I find that similar to any other airline, customer service is often better than not, but there are always those few hiccups. With American Airlines, you can get someone on the phone, on a chat, on social media, or in person to assist, and with some respect on our part, we can often get what we need. I rarely have luggage issues though there was one time where my bag was broken, and American Airlines gave me a replacement bag while they had my original bag repaired. I find myself regularly flying in and out of the American Airlines gates at Phoenix Sky Harbor and frequenting hubs like Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia, and Charlotte. Often, my travels require a layover, and my flights are more often than not on time and without delays on departing or arriving. With status, an American Airlines credit card, and membership in CLEAR and Global Entry, I do not pay for luggage, I receive priority luggage handling, I board early, I speed through security, I sometimes receive upgrades, and I access lounges. Traveling has become more of a hobby and habit at the same time, and using American Airlines as my regular go-to airlines, I accumulate miles quickly while also receiving status and Loyalty Point rewards. I have two travel premium credit cards: the AAdvantage Executive Mastercard offering complimentary Admirals Club access (of which there are plenty of them across DFW) and the American Express Platinum card offering other lounge access (including the Centurion Lounge and The Club both at DFW) along with travel credits along with complimentary CLEAR and Global Entry membership. Through T-Mobile, I receive free WiFi on American Airline flights. Through my American Airlines AAdvantage status, I get upgrades or free paid snacks and drinks on flights along with other benefits. To retain status each year, you need to earn Loyalty Point through flying, credit card spending, and promotions. You also can earn Loyalty point rewards after hitting 175,000 points, 250,000 points, and so on. While it is difficult to receive upgrades due to so many people at the Executive Platinum status tier, the benefits I do receive is worthwhile. I also have experienced technical issues on flights but not enough to cause me to abandon American Airlines, especially when every other airline has these same challenges. All in all, American Airlines is a great company and does as well if not better than any of the other major airlines. read more

I have been a American Advantage member for almost 25 years and have booked a lot of flights at AA through the years. Today I booked flights for my daughter and her family (5 tickets). While going back and forth with flight times, the prices increased. Ok, that happens so I wanted to get it booked. Rather than do basic economy I booked main cabin because it came with 'Check 1 bag free'. I saw this on the web site. I then was charged for bags. I went ahead and booked (see price increase above) and thought I would get it worked out afterwards. AA chat rep and supervisor (Jorge) asked me to prove what I saw. Really? Do you copy and paste every web page you click through? I just paid over $3,000 for flights today, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars I have probably spent over the last 2 decades and they are telling me I'm lying over $280. We had two of the worst travel days and this morning got dropped off by our hotel at the b terminal for American Airlines here in Dallas at Fort Worth by B30 is a small group of kiosks and a few ticketing stations. After realizing the kiosk wouldn't let us check in we tried to get help from a woman at the counter who yelled at us that she wouldn't help us and that we had to go to b5 so we walked to try and find it and about 20 mins into walking realized it was not even in the same building. We walked back to ask for help again and the two women at that station were so rude and refused to help us all while helping other customers who had came way after us. At this point we were about to miss our flight home after 48 hours of travel hell and I finally raised my voice at the women and asked for a supervisor, they never showed up. I was very lucky to have found some one else at a different desk who was able to help us within minutes and we made it to our gate as they were boarding the plane. These women were extremely rude and had no reason to treat us this way. They were there today at 6am and prior right across from the priority desk by tsa and gate b 30 hallway. This "airline" deserves 0 stars and will never again be flown by me if there are any other options. As of Dec. 17, 2025, American officially stopped awarding AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points on Basic Economy tickets. That means the cheapest seats now earn exactly zero toward status, zero toward future travel, and zero toward the long-promised "loyalty" part of the loyalty program. Previously, Basic Economy flyers earned a modest 2 points per dollar. Not generous, but at least it acknowledged that people who pay money and sit in seats are, in fact, customers. Now the message is clearer: if you buy the cheapest fare, you don't count. There's a lesson here for any business that runs a rewards program: loyalty is a two-way street. If customers begin to feel like walking wallets instead of valued relationships, they eventually start shopping with their feet. read more

American Airlines has always been my favorite airline but unfortunately their service has been slipping over the past few months. I am a frequent traveler (2-3 flights per month) and for the past 9 months I have been disabled requiring ADA accommodations. When my disability started 9 months ago, I was able to have a wheelchair to get on the flight and one waiting at my destination. Over the past few trips (since about September), there has almost never been a wheelchair when it's time to deboard the plane. Also, the flight attendants were taking my crutches and standing them up in a bin at the front of the plane. Since about September I have been very rudely told to "figure out how to take them apart or figure out how to them in the overhead bin". My crutches have gotten so banged up being bent in the overhead bin their integrity has been compromised and I've had to get new ones from my Dr because my others are now unsafe. It's like all respect for ADA has gone out the window. This last trip I was even told by one of the flight attendants to "move faster" because I was taking too long getting to my seat. I love AA but seeing how their mindset has changed and common decency is leaving them makes me sad and leaves me looking at the possibility of looking for a new main airline read more

I might just have very good luck compared to every other reviewer of this particular American Airlines location. For context, I take advantage of Americans 24 HR check in period on their app which helps speed up the hassle at arrival at the airport, simply grab a tag and line up in the usually short to empty Bag Drop line. I have not once in my perhaps 9 flights departing DFW through this American Airlines had any significant issue which led to any form of delay or poor customer service where I felt disrespected. Desk staff are good about getting me in and out quickly with my bag drop and the Flight attendants and crew coming out of here are often fairly hospitable. If you think this place is bad I hope you all never ever have to fly out of this airports Frontier Airlines. read more
