I got estimates from several insulation installers in Oakland and San Leandro to install additional insulation, and ventilation in my attic. The summer heat was pushing it's way through my roof shingles, into the attic, and roasting the house for hours after the sun went down. American Attic was willing to work with me to come up with a good solution that stopped the heat from coming in. We explored all the options from opencell foam, radiant barriers, and finally decided on R13 for roof joists, and R38 for ceiling joists. This gave me extra cooling in summer and also retention of heat in winter as a bonus. They installed six roof vents, and two non-powered wind turbine vents to allow a constant upward flow of air in the attic and remove the hot air. The quote was equal to other companies, but I went chose American Attic because it's owner operated locally, they worked with me and were patient with my requests, and they were able to get the job started sooner than anyone else. Very profesional group of people, they offered me the best rate out of three other companies. I never thought I would have to change the insulation in the attic until I contacted an exterminator and he told me the insulation had been contaminated by mice and rats. Once I saw how much it cost to do the job I contemplated doing this job at all but after further research I saw how bad of a health hazard it is and I didn't want to put my family through that. After doing some price comparison I requested a free estimate from American Attic, Juan came and took measurements and walked me through the entire process and material costs, he did not only offered me the best rate he also offered such a fast service. Once the service was completed I noticed that my house would keep heat out more efficiently saving me money on electricity since I don't have to run the AC as much. Highly recommend. Juan was very fairly priced. His workers were prompt, neat, and very professional. They removed old insulation, sterilized attic space, rodent proofed, re-insulated, and changed old heater ducts. Also placed a vapor barrie, enlarged the trenches that go to my sump pump, and filled them with gravel. They did this all in one day. Juan also came out and made some alterations to the attic insulation himself. Completely changed my house. I had two dehumidifiers running about 6 hours a day and was pulling about 90 liters of water out of my kitchen and dining room. I was able to put the dehumidifiers away the following day. And, while his guys were under my house they found a water leak and Juan had a plumber on site in 2 hours To fix the leak. They also take photos and video from different stages of the job knowing that some people may have a hard time getting under their house or up in the attic to check the work. read more

Juan Santos and his crew met all of my expectations, both in price and quality, when I needed help for a rat problem in my crawlspace. Juan does it all: he sealed all possible rodent entry points in the crawlspace and attic, and discovered that the rats had gained entry to my crawlspace through a vertical opening in the attic, so he sealed that off as well for good measure. He also installed a vapor barrier in the crawlspace, using a thick barrier material bolted to the foundation. He even replaced one of the heating ducts that the rats had burrowed into, using the same high-quality ducts as the original installers', for a fraction of their price. Finally, Juan is very responsive, friendly, and readily available by phone or text for any questions or concerns. Juan Santos of American Attic responded quickly to my inquiry call and scheduled me a same-day consultation. He was prompt, professional and prepared to get the job done. His crew was also amazing. On installation day (72 hours later), they protected my home from ceiling to floor (i.e., hung plastic "walls" and laid a trail of drop cloths); provided me with progress photos; thoroughly cleaned the attic space; and completed the project in a timely manner (with additional photos). Although the product did not solve my original purpose for installing new insulation, it did serve the important purpose of updating my attic insulation from 6" to 12" protection. Excellent experience! I got the crawlspace clean up, airduct replacement and rodent proof The contractors arrived on time. They are professional and worked efficiently. They would go above and beyond to take care of our home. They helped us replace the ugly foamy insulation of one of the airducts in the garage with the nice shiny insulation for free (we didn't even have to ask) Crawlspace was clean and fresh. The mice situation has got much better. No more dropping. Juan come out and check the traps for us on schedule. We are absolutely pleased with the service! We are very pleased with the work performed by American Attic. As promised by Juan, the owner of the company, everything was completed in one day for both the attic and crawl space. This included the removal of old insulation and its replacement with new fiberglass insulation in the attic, air sealing, duct repairs, cleaning, and sanitation. In the crawl space, they conducted cleaning and sanitation, removed the old insulation from the air ducts in the crawlspace area, and replaced it with professional R6 bubble wrap foil insulation. I've had rats under my house for many years. I mostly dealt with them with traps and poison, but they kept coming back. Then.....one got in our house. This was WAY too creepy. For months, we are experiencing rodent infestations in the attic going down to our garage. The damaged of the engine harness cable was terribly so bad cutting of wires, torn and broke insulations.This almost put my is300 Lexus into rest. Juan Santos came over and Inspected the attic and showed the pictures of the infestation. Juan with his professionalism and expertise blocked all the possible holes with screenwires and placing numerous Rat traps in the attic and other areas around the house. It was a pleasure working with Juan. He was very professional through the entire process. We received a quote from him that was very competitive. He arrived on time for the work, conducted the job with great efficiency and even threw in some additional work that we had not agreed upon like putting metal meshes in places in the roof to block rodents from entering the attic. I called these guys to come out and give me a quote. They were thorough and gave me some good ideas and options on what they could do to get my attic taken care of. They were able to get all of the old junk insulation and rat poop sucked out of my attic and then they installed new rollout insulation and they insulated all my ducting. When they did the work, they completely covered my house with plastic wrap to protect everything from any kind of dust or fibers that would float around. I had Juan and his team perform insulation removal/replacement as well as replacing all of my ducts. His team was very professional, efficient, and meticulous about their work and their cleanup. This was a large, messy job, and mond you ot was done on days that exceeded 100 degrees outside. It was estimated to take 4-5 days to complete, and they finished it in 4.
