I arrived 35 minutes before their posted closing time (10 PM), only to be turned away at the window and told they were closed. If the actual closing time is earlier--like 9:25 PM--that should be accurately reflected online. The ice cream itself is consistently good when you're getting it straight from the bucket, but the selection is often very limited. More than once, I've found that machines were down or certain options weren't available. On one occasion, they handed me a broken cone without offering to fix it or replace it. I genuinely hope they can tighten up operations and update their hours, because the product has potential--but the overall experience needs improvement.

There are also a few tables out in the front to sit at after getting your custard / ice cream. The inside of the shop is small and can get very packed and busy in side. They have a freezer selection that is stocked with flavors of the day or different types of custards depending on availability. Near the register there is also another freezer that has the ice cream sandwiches and other treats. I like Whit's because they do a rotating flavor of the day, a flavor of the week, and flavor of the month. They have a calendar of flavors on their website and socials. (i.e. Facebook or Insta) The menu is pretty expansive offering sundaes, to whitsers, and other such creations. The real star of the show is the custard. It is very creamy and pretty sweet. It is definitely one of my favorite ice cream shops in the Triangle. I haven't had any bad experiences coming here per say but sometimes the young cashiers at the front can seem a bit ignorant and stare you down when it comes to tipping. Outside of that, a good experience and good custard.

I got a specialty drink with butterfly pea tea and lychee, with popping boba and it was so well made. The lady working the bar did an amazing job at helping me order, taking custom sweetness requests, and making my drinks. I even got a cool flashy Ice cube with my drink. The atmosphere is just beautiful, so fun and happy and chill. From the colors to the seating to the homemade star pillows- you can tell thought and heart went into every choice in decorating this place.
