I took my 1983 Mercedes Benz 300D to American Foreign Car Service and was very impressed by their professionalism, honesty and knowledge. Not every garage can take on a 40 year old car and do repairs as though it was nothing out of the ordinary. I had my rear axles replaced, the front end rebuilt, motor mounts replaced, transmission mount replaced, new fuel lines and glow plugs. Pedro was excellent with communication and was very non-judgmental about my old car that has over 450,000 miles on it. Without any hesitation, I would encourage everyone to use this garage. I have known Pedro for years and he has always come through with a smile and a sense of humor. I am thrilled that he got me back on the road safely and very reasonably priced. His is one of the very few "old style" garages around.

So let's begin with Pedro is a nice guy? They had my car for a used engine replacement for 2 months and 10 days, I had to call to find out what was going own with the Repairs. I could never get a straight answer from him, then I'm told the engine has noise issues and they were trying to fix it. When asked about the noise I was told they realized it came from a manual car not an automatic. (1mth and a half) 2 weeks go by I call again this time he says the car is ready to test drive. Hmmmm, I drive and do a brake check and the engine wants to stall out almost at 100ft. I drive for about 6 blocks and it did the stuttering 4 times when braking. Then he rides with me, his excuse was the way I was driving and braking @#*@*#×! Kidding I work at a car dealership. He claimed he had no problems when he test drove it. I left the car with him to fix. 3 days goes by this time he claims the throttle body was fouled up and they would clean it. These are pics of the engine with the alternator bolt coming out, a bolt plugging a hose and a ....... @#$%*#&$ Rim Valve stem as a plug. I found this after my woman tells me to drive the car because she heard some noise from the engine. I could go on, but this is enough, don't trust him or use the shop! And I still have no invoice showing mileage and serial number for the engine that was installed

As the crow flies, Recovery's yard is about a half mile from my home where my car was scheduled to be picked up to take to the shop. My experience with dispatch was pleasant enough. As I was at work at the time and not with the car was to be picked up, I explained to the dispatcher the car was in a parking lot behind the building of the given street address. He said his driver, Curtis, would call to get the details. Curtis called me to let me know he was en route to the vehicle's location. I explained to him the location of the car and offered to text a screenshot from google maps, showing the street names and labeling the location of the parking lot entrance and vehicle's exact location. I sent that screenshot and reiterated exactly where the car was and how to get there. What followed much later, well after I thought the car would have been picked up, were several calls from Curtis saying he couldn't find the car/the car wasn't there/he can't read maps/he doesn't do tow jobs in D.C./he can't find the key/he can't open the armrest where the key is/the car won't start. Ultimately, the car and key were exactly where I said they were and the car started without trouble. I don't understand why Recovery 1, a firm that boasts all over its website about how it serves D.C. specifically, would send a driver who tells customers he doesn't do tow jobs in D.C. Moreover, I don't know why they'd send a driver who can't read a map and also can't relay a cross street location to me over the phone to try to direct them to where the car is located. Again, Recovery's yard is less than a 10 minute walk from where the car was being picked up. It was extra concerning that he needed directions how to push a button to open an armrest compartment and that he had to put the key fob into the ignition to start the vehicle. Finally, with all the problems D.C. has with car thefts and carjackings, the last thing your driver should be telling your customer is they're at the location of the car and it's not there. Aside from not dropping the car off the back of the truck, Recovery 1 failed to meet the most basic expectations for professional service I had.

I've been going to Imperial Auto Body for nearly 10 years and every time I pick up my car after repairs, it looks like new. I've interacted with Bryce most often, and then Jason too. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of work performed by this auto body shop. I chose this…read morefacility because it was recommended through GEICO, but based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering repairs here to take their vehicle elsewhere. My vehicle is only six months old and has been meticulously maintained. It was brought in after a deer damaged the front fender and hood, both of which required replacement. Unfortunately, the repairs I received were unacceptable. The replacement fender is misaligned and does not fit properly. The newly painted hood and fender already have chips, visible lines and imperfections in the finish, and, incredibly, a portion of the fender where it meets the hood was not painted at all. Given the number and severity of these issues, I have serious concerns about the workmanship and quality control at this facility. I am currently working with GEICO to dispute payment for these repairs and will be pursuing all available legal remedies to recover the damages caused by the substandard work, including any diminished value to my vehicle resulting from these improper repairs. I am also concerned by how quickly the repairs were completed. I dropped the vehicle off on a Tuesday and was notified it was ready by Friday, despite originally being told the work would take nearly two weeks. While completing repairs ahead of schedule can be positive when done correctly, in this case the rushed timeline appears to have come at the expense of quality. It is disappointing that management approved releasing a vehicle in this condition. No customer should receive a car back with obvious fitment issues, incomplete paint coverage, and visible defects after collision repairs. I cannot recommend this shop based on my experience.
