I was going to buy a new Rolex Milgauss but a Facebook ad from Crown & Caliber piqued my interest. I bought from Crown & Caliber a similar watch to my missing watch, it was delivered yesterday. I was so excited, I didn't care about the cheap packaging. I bought a Shinola watch, the package even came gift wrapped?! I ripped open the cheap paper packaging. The watch band is tight on my wrist. I called today and I was told since Crown & Caliber isn't an authorized Rolex dealer, they are not able to sell me a link or take the watch back to add links. Listen, I love the watch. It's beautiful. I'll just wait until the world is off lockdown and I can go to Rolex..

Leading up to my visit I did call the store to ensure turnaround times as well as cost. Upon arriving at the store, I must say it is absolutely beautiful with obviously only display watches. And the gentleman who helped me branyon was super nice and friendly and helpful. In fact, he even beat the turnaround time that was quoted to me over the phone by the store earlier in the week. He even went above and beyond by offering to show me watches, even though I had not made a separate sales appointment. That was very kind and very tempting of him. I must say unfortunately this trip was not for shopping. It was for a family celebration. I will say if I do ever have to get my watch serviced again I will definitely come back here. Flying to Atlanta from Chicago is barely 2 hours and not expensive at all. And getting to this location is super easy right outside of the city. I wish I had more time during this visit. Well not only did she listen to the stories about my mom, and helped me asses the value of the ring and gold she had but she helped me design an amazingly beautiful pendant to remember my mom using her engagement ring and we talked about what her life meant to me. I ended up with a compass pendant since mom was my guide and I became hers later in life. Laura even suggested using her diamonds to face east to west for her sunrise and sunset. With a special inscription on the back. I am in awe of the work they do at Worthmore and I recommend them anyone who needs a special piece of jewelry commissioned or is just looking for someone to take you under their wing and talk wedding rings and jewelry to you. Laura is very informative she also helped us insure our precious pieces which came in handy when I lost the diamond from my wedding ring in a freak accident! I bought a Rolex watch at a local estate auction. I wanted to know if it had all factory parts, if some of the watch was after market, if it needed any maintenance, and I wanted to insure it. I called around to several of the stores that sell Rolex and I was surprised that they all recommended the same company, American International Gemologists in Woodland Hills. I called over there to talk to them and spoke with Vee and Norman. After talking with them I felt that this was the place that I wanted to go to have my watch appraised. I made an appointment. I met with Norman; he took the watch apart right in front of me and examined the whole thing. He wrote up a appraisal report, put the watch together, and explained to me which parts were factory and which ones were aftermarket. This guy knew what to do and how to do it. I was there about an hour. I took the appraisal to my insurance company AAA, and got the insurance I needed that day. This was a really good experience. read more

A few months ago I had a jewelry appraisal done on my grandmothers sapphire ring by Norman Monteau and his staff. During the evaluation they told me that it was possible that the sapphire was not heat treated, that the stone was free of inclusions and if they were right it would be very valuable. Norman suggested that we send the sapphire to Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad to be tested, before we complete the appraisal. After talking to my family that is just what we did. Norman and his staff were right. The sapphire certificate from GIA said that there was no indication of heating. I took the sapphire back to Norman at American International Gemologists to have the appraisal completed. The stone is worth more that I could have ever thought. I am so happy to have been helped by Norman and his staff. They helped me and the family through this process when others would not. Thanks Norman! read more

We purchased the diamond for my engagement ring thru the internet on Blue Nile. The ring that I wanted was only available at the Ben Bridge jewelry store. The store needed about a week to set my diamond and size my new ring. They told me to call a local appraiser to have the ring appraised for insurance. They had me call Sande at American International Gemologists, the gemologists office was near the mall. I asked Sande for an appointment, I told her what day my ring would be ready and she made an appointment for me for that day. That would make it really easy for me to get this done. She called me the day before to confirm that the ring would be ready. I met her and the appraisers Norman and Amanda the next day. They did a very professional job, plus they explained everything that they did. I would recommend them for jewelry appraisals. read more

Professional Jewelry Appraiser; I called around and spoke with several jewelry stores about having my wedding set appraised for insurance. I didn't think that it would be so difficult to find someone to get this done. It was interesting that most of the jewelry stores that I called recommended the same jewelry appraisal service, American Int'l Gemologists in Newbury Park. I spoke with Sandy at www.aiglabs.com and she was the first person to tell me that they could do the appraisal while I waited. I went to see Norman to have an antique Aexandrite ring appraised. Before even putting it under magnification, he could tell at a glance that it was not a natural stone. Further examination, proved his assessment. He took the time to explain to me how stones are created and the history of lab-created Alexandrite in particular. He also looked at some other jewelry I had brought with as a courtesy. Norman was obviously extremely knowledgeable and competent, and I felt confidant in the information he gave me. This is the first time using AIG and I am very pleased with the way Sandy and Norman handled my appraisal. Not only was it a timely appraisal, but besides being very professional they were both very personable. My confidence in their business stemmed from that. I called AIG at the last minute because I needed an appraisal for an investment stone for my pension plan. They were not really open during the window I had, but after talking to Sandy, who was so nice to me, they did the appraisal when I needed it, right on the spot, and I got it to my planners in time. So glad I found Norman & AIG. I took a chance on some gemstones that I purchased on eBay. What I thought might be Aquamarine & Green Tourmaline were tested and identified by Norman & his team to be coated Quartz! Luckily I was able to get my money back + the lab test fee. I was referred to American International Gemologists by my jeweler Robbins Brothers in Canoga Park. They were the only jewelry appraiser that could do the appraisal while I waited, and I called several others. The procedure took less than an hour. It was fast and efficient. Bess did a beautiful job with this piece from Tiffany & Co. This olive branch pendant was from the Paloma Picasso collection, and the difference in price to exchange it for the gold pendant would have cost an additional $800.... so I decided to take it to Lilly Porter. For only $75, Bess was able to transform this piece into the gold pendant I wanted! Pictured, you can see the original chain (sterling silver) that matched the pendant, and the finished gold plated piece. A few things to note... this isn't your typical retail shop. They are located in an small office building on Maple drive. To the right of the building, you can enter the underground parking deck which also leads to parking in the rear of the building. You'll have to walk up to the front and dial 06 to enter the building, then Lilly Porter is located on the second floor, towards the front side of the building in suite 200. When you walk into Bess' office, you can see a lot of jewelry renderings on the wall, as I believe she's best known for her custom jewelry designs. All in all, this was a great experience. It's appointment only, so be sure to call (or text) in advance. Bess also accepts Venmo! So the payment process was a breeze.
