There was 1 set-up with a large projector and 2 MC's. This was my first Smash tournament, but I didn't get to stay long due to work the next day, and I didn't purchase a drink. The event was very lively and crowded, and I wished I stayed longer! Will be back to participate/spectate another tournament. Overall lively dive bar that can provide a fun but chill night out! Conveniently located right off Grand Ave (US 60) in a little strip mall right in the heart of Surprise. Tons of ample parking for you and some of your closest friends! We were greeted immediately when we walked in. Contrary to what a few of the other reviews have said, you do ** NOT ** need to bring quarters with you. Obviously, you can. But it's not necessary. The nice gentleman running the place today gladly took our $20 bill and give us a few $5 bills back. From there, you can go to their change machine in the back, chuck in your $1 bills or $5 bills and it'll spit out quarters at you. Once you've got your pockets full of quarters, head over to one of the many machines and be prepared to be entertained! It's $1 per game. I know, but this ain't 1984 anymore so a dollar per game checks out. We blew through our $20 in a hair over an hour. It is incredibly clean inside! The machines functioned with no issues at all and I can't stress enough about how clean the machines (and everything) was here at Player 1! If you want to partake in some soda or alcohol, they can serve you up some refreshments while you've got your hands full with a pinball machine. Captain Alex had things running smoothly with the help of Captain Dave (formally of Coabana) The decor is the same, and the drink menu is a bit smaller - 8 signature cocktails and 9 tiki classics. The back page of the menu was all food items. The three cocktails we had were boozy, yet perfectly balanced. The flavors of the drinks were un mistakable, making them more pronounced, and quite frankly, just plain delicious! Quite appalling. Apparently establishment is ok with patrons verbally assaulting and harassing…read morecustomers on the premises. If you complain they will claim to address the situation. But if the bullying and harassing party continues to get physically in the space of the person who was already assaulted, they are expected to allow that person to abuse them again. If you assert yourself and don't allow that person in your space, somehow it's officially an altercation and after the assaulting party leaves, the victim will be demanded to leave as well 20 minutes later. Zero honoring of protecting the space of harassed party as was promised. Zero answer when assaulted party asks "what should I have done when person you said would be told to leave me alone again gets in my face? " Get away from me got not response. Aggressive hand gestures didn't work either. I spent a great deal of money in a place where I just wanted to have a peaceful night. Apparently one is expected to tolerate being verbally harassed and should literally run away from abusive people here. I guess legal recourse only option since rational conversation not respected. Promise to tell abusive party to stay away not honored. And basic standards of respect not on the menu.
