I've called twice to let them know about having a design done and they either have zero experience when I get there or it's awful (minus one wonderful person). I'm not one to leave reviews but I'm extremely disappointed with my experience here and wish I would've had a warning like this. They made me wait an hour and half past my scheduled appointment before I even had an update that they'd be with me soon, and if I was told prior that they were running that far behind I would've rescheduled the appointment. They were also out of every single chrome color option, so I changed my appointment from French tip to just a plain color. I was not offered a discount for my wait, and was also charged $20 more for the change from French to solid. My nails turned out fine but overall I am upset about my experience here and wish I would've spoken up about it. read more

I have been going here for many years and always thought there is nothing that compares. The last 6 months I have gone numerous times and been completely disappointed in their service. It has declined durastically and I will not be returning anytime soon. The nail technicians hurry through and leave you with a sloppy manicure/pedicure that needs to be fixed at least once or twice within a week of service. (This has been with both shellac and dipping powder) when I have returned to get my nails fixed, I am met with disgruntled employees who do not want to make it right. When I had the dipping powder done, 3 nails chipped within 2 days and they were out of my color, so they "fixed" the chips with the mismatched color of their choice and made me feel like it was all my fault. All in all, they used to be the #1 spot in Omaha, but do subpar work now. Not worth the $$$. read more

They put another lady in front of me, even though i was there way before her. However, I'm really glad because I got an amazing lady named Emily. She did not rush me at all and stayed late to finish up, because the salon was behind. She did an amazing job and listened and asked for approval through out the entire appointment. We have been going to American Nails and Spa for the last few years. My family will never go anywhere else. It is so clean, the staff is so friendly and helpful. I got the allergy herbal relief pedicure and I am not fully satisfied, I expected more for their monthly special and for the price I think it was $38. I've had better pedicures for cheaper and wasn't considered a special. My "hot stones" we're more luke warm. The lady doing mine was not really friendly and didn't try to make conversation at all. She was also less than gentle and her nails kept scratching me. It really wasn't relaxing either. I would have been happy with it if the stones were hot. Went in for a classic pedicure, and Ann did an excellent job! She was friendly, social, and my toes felt fab after a long week at work. :) The environment was inviting to everyone, and I liked the stations of where you can dry your nails and hang out. The service is so bad and overpriced. The pedicure chairs suck and are not relaxing at all, for the basic pedicure you basically get scrub and lotion then base coat and polish, the leg message did not feel good at all. You pay $31 subpar service. At all other salons I have gone to a basic pedicure costs $25 for relaxing chairs, a nice long leg message, a scrub with fresh orange peels, lotion, warm leg wraps, hot coals, and base coat, color, and top coat. American's service doesn't even compare to others and they have the audacity to ask for more money. read more

My massage was wonderful - not quite as deep-tissue as I generally prefer, but I was awfully sore so was appreciative for the lighter touch as well. My gel (shellac) mani did not hold up. It's the most I've ever paid for a gel mani and lasted the shortest amount of time. Very disappointing. It looked nice for a couple of days - after that it got chipped and cracked. read more

Pedicure horror story. I went in for a mani/pedi and I've only been there a couple of times before. I was looking for convenience since it is close to my house. When I was asked if I wanted my callouses removed, I agreed because I had rough, dry winter heels. I've never done callous treatment. She put a sloughing cream on the bottom of my feet and took out a tool I describe as a cheese grater. She started filing my feet and I immediately had discomfort. Before I could ask her to stop, she grated my foot and took a chunk of skin off the bottom/side of my foot. I yelped and she looked at my foot, put some "disinfectant" or what I assumed was disinfectant on it, due to the burning I felt. I didn't realize I was bleeding until I lifted my foot from the towel. She tried to bandage it twice but it bled through into my sandal. The owner or manager (assumption) came by to ask if I was ok because another employee noticed the blood and my discomfort. It was during the 2nd attempt to bandage (lotion and a small bandaid caused the first time to not work) that this employee finally apologized. I think she was in as much shock as I was. I understand mistakes can happen but I don't feel it was handled well (discount on the mani/pedi only). I will never have another "callous treatment" again, lesson learned. And I will never return to this nail place. I'm going to try and post a picture my husband took that night so you can see for yourself the damage to my foot. I hope it isn't too graphic. Continued to be disappointed by this place. I used to get my nails and toes done here religiously mostly out of convenience because of location. But the last three times I have been so pissed off each time I left I hated that I was continuing to give this place my money/business. There's a technician named "Pink" and she is awesome. Not only does she do an absolutely awesome job at whatever you ask of her for your nails, but she makes recommendations once she gets to know your style, and I've loved all of them so far! The worst place I have been to. I received a gift card there, which is why I went. They were busy on Sunday afternoon when I went, but felt I got in quick. I felt Jenny, who did my shellac was rushing me through and I had to ask her to slow down. My nail chipped the next day (never has my shellac chipped that fast). They do ensure a 7 day guarantee which was nice. When I went it, it was the same nail tech who just wanted to paint over it. I had to ask for her to completely take off the color and redo it. I thought I would try my chance at a quick polish change on my toes to hope change my mind about the service. Wrong. The lady told me she couldn't take off my shellac and I would have to pick it off myself. No thank you. I walked out with utter disappointment. read more

I had an 11:00 pedi appt on Aug 13 & waited 50 minutes to get seated. I should have left but was going out of town that day. They were busy with walk-ins as well as appts. Not sure that having an appointment gives clients priority. So why bother. No adjustment to my bill due to the inconvenience. I've been going here for years. It's clean & fairly friendly. It's hit & miss with quality of the pedi. I usually get one of their monthly special pedis which costs more than a standard pedi. The massage part of the pedi is very inconsistent. I'm to the point that I'll be finding a new place to get pedis. read more

Got the shellac manicure, which was not really even a manicure. They refused to use water to soak my hands, therefore the nail tech didn't get any of the excess skin the grows around my nail. She only applied the cuticle gel and that was it. The nail tech barely did anything to my hands and they didn't look nice. My manicure lasted less than 5 min. Then she put on the shellac. This was the absolute worst shellac job I have ever received. My shellac started peeling just 3 days after getting it done. Now I'm out 31$ and I need to get a new shellac application because the shellac from American nails and spa did not stay on. This place is an embarrassment and the people are probably not even trained to do proper manicures. Just because the place looks nice is just a mask to their crappy overpriced services. They didn't offer me water or a soda. It seriously was one of the worst pedicures for really expensive!!! I am seriously really upset and I don't know why I even came back here to try it out. No wonder why they keep getting bad reviews because they aren't changing anything at all!!!! Awful!!!!!! I did ask how long the pedicure should have been and the owner said at least 45 to 50 minutes so she did give me a $5 gift card to use for next time. Way overprice for just "ok" service. First, the pedicure chairs are uncomfortable and are laughable to be called "massage" chairs. Next, my mani/pedi was less than 1h from door-to-door - not nearly enough time in my opinion to accomplish both with appropriate care/attention. My cuticles were not push back to ensure proper removal so 90% of them remained. They charge $5 extra for "callus removal." I understand if they needed to do more than the usual scrub. However, they don't even do that. They do NOTHING if you don't pay the extra money. I'm sorry, but last I checked, that was basic pedicure protocol. Finally, she only did 1 coat of polish on my fingers. 1 coat!? I won't likely return and feel you can get much better service elsewhere for a lot cheaper. read more

I got a $42 dip manicure and they didnt soak my fingers to clean up my cuticles, didnt lotion/massage my hands, and left TONS of dip residue under my nail even after informing the nail tech.. not the service you expect to receive for a $42 manicure.. will not be going back! I am new to Omaha, and found this place online, It had a nice website, so I figured I would try it. Don't always judge a book by it's cover. The front staff were friendly and helpful. When it was my turn to get my nails done, at first it started fine. However my nail tech kept (more than 3 times) trying to upsell me. This is a HUGE turnoff for me! Even if I loved my nails I would not be going back, just because of that. My tech brought blood on me twice, granted it's not like it was bleeding alot, but I do not like to come back with 'beauty battle wounds". She was quick and not thorough. At a quick glance my nails look fine, however, they are chunky (gel isn't smooth). For 50 bucks, this was not my ideal of money well spent. I made an appointment for a manicure and arrived early. The front desk person used the words "hon", "sweetie" about 10 times in the first two minutes. She was appreciably younger, and somewhat condescending. The offerings of tea, coffee and water were appreciated. I was seated at the nail bar, and promptly turned over to my manicurist who DID NOT SPEAK ANY ENGLISH. There was no conversation with me, but plenty around me which left me feeling disregarded. Don't get me wrong, I am all for equal opportunity, but since when has it become accepted that you don't have to converse with your customers when you are providing a service? At one point I asked her if everything was alright and she couldn't even answer me, her co-worker had to. How can she know what I want when she can't communicate? As a result I got a manicure that was part of what I wanted because it was circled on the paper, but partly not because I couldn't specifically ask for other treatment. The only reason I gave this place one star was the use of sterile, bagged instruments. All facade, no substance and little American about American Nails. read more

I have had many great experiences here. The most recent time I went was with a group of friends and our moms for my pre-wedding pampering. They were amazing! They reserved stations for us so we could all be right next to each other. They let us bring in our own breakfast items and set up a cute table for us. Everyone was SO nice and so accommodating. I've also been here with my MIL and SIL, and with a group of friends. Each experience was extremely professional. There is no smell here like the chemical smell at most salons as well which is a plus! read more

I normally really like this place. It is clean and people are friendly. The last time I was there, I went with a couple of friends and we all had pedicures. I paid a little extra to get my feet dipped in wax, so mine took a little longer. The owner kept coming up to my technician and telling her to hurry up and then went so far as to bring 4 people who were there together to stand there in front of me and the now empty seats around me to stare at me and wait. Very unprofessional! I realize you are busy and I realize that the more people you move in and out of there, the more money you make, but you also need to remember that good customer service is what keeps people coming back. I will not be returning to this salon. The subcontracted technicians do not care about your natural nails or the clients as they should. It is obvious that they care about moving people in and out to make as much money as possible, more than anything. They do not do shellac manicures properly and will destroy your natural nail so that they don't have to wait for shellac to dissolve in acetone. You will not receive a proper manicure or pedicure because the techs will cut corners to finish as quickly as possible. They destroyed my beautiful natural nails that I had pampered after removing nail extensions. The damage from extensions had been gone for more than a year and my nails were hard as nails healthy and beautiful. We were going on vacation and I decided I would try shellac to have the long lasting and chip free color and ended up with damaged nails that I paid for. I am going to start doing my own mani/pedis again because I did a better job and care about nail health. Becky filed the surface of my nails to remove shellac and when I told her to stop because she was damaging my nails, she replied "Only a little." and continued. Unacceptable and untrue. I will have to grow my nails out completely like I did with extensions because they are now thin as razors, have coarse file cuts and tear from being weak. Amy filed my nail surfaces and did not follow any of the steps for proper application that CND Shellac lists online. Google it! My shellac chipped and lifted after 2 days when Amy performed my services. They chipped after 8 days with Vanessa. Even though this place is near my home, I will not return to this establishment to give any other techs a chance. If a salon does not do your shellac the way that the company that created it tells techs to, RUN! This salon does not perform services properly and they don't care that they don't. They butchered my left big toe! If you would like to see a picture of the damage check out the review I posted on their FB page, under the comments. I took my daughter there yesterday on her 3rd birthday for her first manicure/pedicure experience. I sat next to my daughter and got a pedicure at the same time, which was much needed as I am 9 months pregnant and can't reach my toes. I was busy taking pictures and video of my daughter getting her nails done when I noticed my left big toe started to sting/burn. I looked down and I couldn't tell what happened but I told the nail tech that my toe was stinging, and hoped it would go away. I continued on observing my daughter and wasn't paying attention to what my nail tech was doing. It progressively got worse to the point it hurt REALLY bad and I mentioned it again to the nail tech and asked her not to put any lotion/scrub on that toe. It wasn't until I realized that the pain wasn't going away that I tried to take a closer look at my toe (hard to do being 9 months pregnant) and I realized that there was a GIANT chunk of skin missing. It was hard to see but you could tell she put something on it to stop the bleeding as the area where the skin was missing had a green tinge to it. If I wasn't at the salon with my daughter, I would have got up and left right then and there. I again mentioned that my left big toe was hurting and asked her what was going on and her response was "there is something wrong with your skin right here (points to missing skin) and suggested I "ask my doctor" what was wrong. She tried playing it off like she wasn't the one who injured my toe! The skin on my toe was fully intact when I sat down in the pedicure chair. Even though I asked the nail tech repeatedly not to use anything on that toe, she continued to use lotions/scrubs on my toe for the rest of the pedicure, which was painful. Once my daughter and I were finished and I got to the front to pay, I took another look at my still painful toe and could tell it was really bad, but it still wasn't bleeding from whatever she put on it to stop the bleeding. I told the lady at the front desk (medium length blonde hair, she is there a lot so I am guessing she is the manager or owner) what happened and she apologized, looked at my toe and took $5 off. Fast forward to a few hours later and my skin started to bleed and scab over and I could finally see the full extent of my injury. The missing skin spans the entire length of my cuticle and for half of the width of my toenail it extends backwards for several centimeters. This wasn't a small nick from the cuticle cutters, I'm actually quite confused as to how she could have even pulled that much skin off. I went back to the salon on my way home from running errands and showed the same lady at the front desk what my toe looked like now. I asked for my money back, because no sane person would pay to have such poor service, and her response was that she "couldn't" give me my money back. As far as I am aware, credit card machines are capable of refunding money, but maybe that has changed. Instead she gave me a gift certificate for a free $28 pedicure, which is funny because the pedicure I paid for that day was $37. What a crock. I will never go back there and tell anyone and everyone I know this story to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please stay away from this place unless you want a butchered toe. Now I am limping, and hoping that my toe doesn't get infected. Update: I spoke to the owner of the salon at the end of the week in which I had my pedicure. He advised me that he would refund my money to my credit card and I could come in for a free pedicure when I was ready. But before he did so, he told me that his wife reviewed the video footage and it appeared that I came into the salon with something wrong with my toe. So basically he called me a liar, until I advised him that my toe was perfectly normal when the services began and that I had family photos the day before in which I was barefoot and I was happy to show him the pictures so he could see for himself. Denying you did something wrong and accusing the customer of lying is about as low as you can get when it comes to customer service. Not surprisingly, more than a week later the money still hasn't been refunded to my credit card. I emailed him a couple of days ago asking the status and he hasn't responded. Go figure. My toe STILL isn't healed and I am pretty sure I am going to have a decent scar thanks to American Nails & Spa. read more

She tried to tell us we were "Next" but we watched several others come in and sit right now due to appointments. We were simply treated differently. So we left and will not be back. I made an appointment and they still made me wait 15 after my appointment started because it was so busy. When I sat down to have my nails done the first woman was extremely rude but go to work. Half way through filing my nails she stopped and walked away from me, 3 minutes later another woman took over. I was so confused because the first woman never told me she was going to pass me off to another person. When my nails were finished they were beautiful (expensive!) I got the gel nail extension .....$50! After a week and a half my nails were breaking off, not just breaking but cracking as well. Finally after they started to crack I took them off with no effort, I they PEELED off my nail as if I had gotten fake nails from target and glued them on. I bring my Goddaughter in occasionally and she loves the pampering! Staff is friendly and always gets me in quickly even when I don't make an appointment. I do not understand these reviews. This place is just average but double the price. I tried again and still just marginal. 20 second foot and leg massage, hot rocks were a joke, color choices are limited, they do not offer a soda or anything, heal cleaning is not great but extra $. Got home and heals are maybe shade better but not acceptable after a nail salon visit. It's clean looking all though an employee was dragging a towel under her shoe while I sitting a chair I assume as a means of cleaning he floor. These sub par to average services do NOT command these prices. read more

American Nails is an affordable, consistently middle of the road mani/pedi. Pros: -Consistently decent polish job -Lots of price point options for pedicures (however, sometimes hard to tell the difference in what you are paying for) -Use and identify CND Shellac (which I think looks better and is easier to remove than any other kind) Cons: -Cleanliness is okay, but not awesome -Pedicure could be more thorough in terms of callus work -The experience is good, but it is not the type of pedi where you walk away going, that was AMAZING Bottom line is that it is a good place for a routine pedi, but isn't anything special. read more
