Now i am not going to just give this a great review because the guy is my uncle but he does a great job. when i was younger he would take me on Saturdays and my job was to dust all the shoes in the stores and sweep... over the years he has dyed, repaired, fixed my jackets, shoes, bags etc.... whenever i am not sure i ask him first... He has been doing this work which he cares so passionately for, for 30+ years... he is a staple to the community around him... sometimes i wonder when i go by the shop how he gets everything done because he is always getting customers come in and out all day... but he gets it all done.. ill admit the first time anyone walks in here they will not know where to look first because he has a lot of "stuff" but he finds a use for it all.. The kitty cat he has in the shop is a sweet heart, she was born without a tail and is about 8/9 years old... he is fair when he gives you a price on the work he does.. because he usually REAL QUALITY materials... real leather, real rubber and it will last... so happy to call this guy my uncle!! read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would! i dropped off my $2400 brand new boots (fresh out the box in perfect condition) to get stretched and when i came to get them there was a scratch and black dirt marks all over the boots- the boots are nude so you can see every blemish & the shoes weren't even stretched!! But still asked for payment. If you have been to this store you know that his hands are never clean due to him working which is granted but you CANNOT handle peoples things with dirty hands. OR you could start covering the customers items. When i said something about it he was like "oh that can come off" and started wiping it off but there was one particular black mark that wasn't rubbing off at all. when i asked him about the accommodations for the damage he said it was nothing he can do even though he was the one that damaged it. I cannot return the boot now due to its damage and he refused to accommodate me so i will be forced to go to small claims court. If he couldn't stretch the shoe he could've said that instead of just taking my money & he ruined my shoes and didn't care at all just money Hungry!!! read more

SO UPSET !! Brand new pair of Gucci Mules never worn given to apply a shoe guard and returned all scuffed. You would think these were worn before. Mr. Agosto is the nicest shoe man around. If there is a problem with a shoe, purse, or piece of luggage (probably more stuff too) he will fix it. And he stands by his work as well. I found him in a major shoe malfunction, vintage designer espadrilles separating from the sole on the way to open house at work. He took them, looked them over, pulled them completely apart and asked me when did I need them. After our said immediately, he told me "no problem, have a seat. They'll be ready in 30 min." Being antsy and needing to run errands in nearby businesses. I left and returned in 35 minute to fixed shoes! I was elated. I had another malfunction after the event so I called. He told me no problem, come back over, I'll fix it. Come to find out the sole had two parts and the second part needed just as much love. 10 minutes later, I was on my way with my shoes. I vowed to return and have my purse straps replaced. And that repair was even better. I should've added rivets though, decorative reasons.... I think I'll go with spikes. Amazing! This dude did a FrankenLuggage fix on the rolling bag that American Airlines so kindly pillaged. And he stitched up holes on my knapsack....AND fixed a rip I hadn't even noticed! This place is old school. I swear to god, he has Shinola for sale. SHINOLA. There is no longer any damned excuse for you to say you don't know the difference between it and shit. And hey, for my kinky boot fetish friends? This guy has shoe polish and dyes I ain't seen since I was a kid. Long boot laces and the strongest leather boot thongs I've ever seen. An effective, efficient shoe repair place that retains a lot of charm. My coworker had been coming here every once a while to have shoes and luggage repaired. Then I had my heels repaired for dirt cheap. Then came excess. I went through piles of shoes: heels, flats, boots (knee high, casual, ankle) you name it. I've brought in two bags and have more forthcoming. Some shoes (the "they don't make 'em like this anymore" types) for repair and restoration. The owner is an incredibly sweet and straightforward little man who wears hospital scrubs (I mean, how cute?). His cat, Star, roams around and is super friendly. His system of organizing orders and repairs is a little archaic, but good enough. He hands and signs off yellow tickets to be tagged to bags of shoes. The strap of my DVF bag snapped off and I needed to get it back in, problem was, the strap was held together by a gold cylindrical thing. Being that the bag is a designer one that cost me $700, I didn't 2nd to mess it up. So off I went to two of the shoe repair places close to me but they offered to just sew the strap and told me to forget the gold clasp. I went on Yelp and decided to try the "American Shoe Service" because of the many reviews it had. So, off l go to Richmond Hill, the shoe repairman known as the "doctor" told me he would find a gold clasph for it and asked if I wanted to wait, I waited and in less than 5 mins he was done. Not only that, he charged me just $5. The other two places I went to earlier were going to charge me $25 and $30 for the repair which didn't include the gold clasp. If I had one more star, I would add it for his sunny disposition. Great job. read more

This place got great reviews so although it wasn't the closet shop to my house I took the 15 min drive to bring 2 pairs of heels to be cut down and the insole changed on 1 of them to be all black. Lawddd I wish i would've gone with my instinct and went to the place right near my job because now both of my BRAND NEW SHOES THAT I HAVE NEVER WORN have been butchered!!! Brought the shoes around 4p on Wed and when I asked how soon could they be done the gentleman told me Fri. Great because I was gonna ask for Sat! Got there on Fri and and 1 pair of heels wasn't even touched yet and 1 was cut but he never changed the insole. Wasted trip. He promised me both shoes would be ready and apologized and told me come back the next day around 11a. Today I came back at 2:45pm..ample time to have everything done right? Wrong! The shoes that I needed done the most STILL weren't ready. He tried to tell me come back on Tuesday...excuse me but I need my shoes for New Years sir, absolutely NOT! Told me to wait 15-20 mins and he would do them right away. I ended up waiting 30 mins and guess what...they look like crap! Worst job ever!!! He had the nerve to spray paint where he messed up my shoes and when I said something (because he clearly wasn't going to address the hack job) he laughed it off and said "these things happen". I'm an understanding person but he should've told me how hard the job would be so I could use my own discretion if I wanted him to proceed. And he didn't even have the decency to give me a discount! MY NEW FOREVER SHOE REPAIR GUY! My Old Shoe Repair Guy in Williamsburg recently retired. I was devasted because he was in the same location for over 40 years and I trusted him and loved his workmanship. I needed to find a New Shoe Guy Fast! I found American Shoe Repair on Google and brought in two pairs of Boots to have the heels fixed. I had burned off half the heel with the Motorcycle Muffler. They don't make this specific boots anymore and I didn't want to throw them out. I came in with my boots and anxiety into the shop but as soon as I saw Mr. C's face I knew he was my New Forever Shoe Guy! I dropped off my boots, prepaid for the work and left. He said to pick them up on Saturday. When I saw my RESUSCITATED BOOTS I was overjoyed. I took off the boots I was wearing and he fixed them right away. He's Workmanship is Amazing and he definitely uses nothing but quality materials. I will continue to come back and recommend American Shoe Repair to all my friends and neighbors. He is definitely a Staple in the Community! While I was there, this lady brought in a Lamp and he Rewired it for her in 10 minutes and when she asked how much he just said, " Have a nice day!" I just bought a beautiful pair of leather shoes from Steve Madden. They fit perfectly but the ankle strap was about an inch too loose. I just went to American Shoe Service and the owner was incredibly helpful and knowledgable. He gave me a few options to choose from, and was attentive to my concerns. He strongly advised for the cheaper choice actually, because it would look nicer! These were $100 shoes that I paid $85 for so I didn't mind investing in the repair. That said, he only charged me $5!!! Waiting to pick them up tomorrow but I'm sure they'll look great! read more

I had been coming here for three years and was happy with the service so I felt confident that they would take care of a Chanel handbag of mine. When I picked it up, it was still wet from the conditioner and looked slightly spotty. He assured me it would be ok once it dried. By the next day it was streaked and dull, looking terrible. I contacted Lexol (the brand of conditioner used) and they advised me Lexol is much too harsh for lambskin. When I returned it to the repair shop he offered to buff it off, resulting in large scratches and the finish completely gone. The metal logo was twisted and now loose. I was horrified and, when he offered to put shoe polish on it, I left. Unbelievably bad service, do NOT take any valuable bags or delicate leather items here. read more

I took my luggage bags to the store to get a replacement wheels. They did the job and when I went to pick up my luggage bags I saw that my luggage bags were broken on the sides and base. I gave them my bags in a good condition and they wouldn't admit that they did break my luggage bags. I do not recommend this store. They were irresponsible. read more

August as he is named has usually done a great job in repairing shoes for me, but unfortunately this last time he really effed up my two pairs that I brought to him!!! The soles on the bottoms of my girlfriends exotic dancer shoes were coming off near the front of the platforms. So I took them to August to have them fixed, he used some glue that he said was meant for plastic which the shoes were made of, and low and behold this glue caused many cracks in the clear platforms of both pairs. At first I thought that these were not cracks but just dried up glue that could be removed when I got home, but when I got home I realized that these were in fact cracks and bits of these platforms just peeled right off of the shoes. Gee August I did not think that plastic glue would cause stress cracks, to top this horrible experience off my girlfriend got mad at me and threw the shoes at me thinking that I should have to buy her two new pairs when in fact August should have reimbursed me for at least one of the two damaged pair. He (August) does not know what to tell me when I told him over the phone but I know what to tell you people out there who are considering bringing a pair of plastic exotic dancer shoes to this man for repair, "either try to repair them yourself with some good contact cement or try another shoe repair shop' DO NOT BRING THEM TO AUGUST AT AMERICAN SHOE REPAIR SERVICE"!!!!!!! read more
