I had an absolutely wonderful experience with American Spa Services, particularly our repairman Sam who was both very knowledgeable and friendly. We have had a long-running leak in our spa that was not easily locatable. Sam spent a lot of time digging through the side into the spa insulation and was able to find the leaky jet and kept us updated throughout the repair. The entire job took awhile (including a second visit to seal the leak) and we were given a very reasonable price for the repair. Our spa is now completely leak free, thank you!! read more

I paid 250 dollars for the jets to be ordered and sent to me I agreed to try changing the jets by myself. Todd promised to send the jets to my address 2 months ago. Sam came out on a Monday to look at the spa, which had been leaking for a long long time (I had just kept ignoring it). Every morning, there was water outside the hot tub at the Northeast corner. He said there was a major leak in the main motor & impeller. He then gave me a reasonable quote ($429) for parts & labor & said he could do it the following Monday. (I had checked elsewhere). He came out & replaced the items. The next morning, I notice that there was a little water in that same corner, but thought it might be because the wooden bottom that housed the hot tub was wet & rotten (I had ignored the leak for over 15 years). When it persisted, I called him back. He came out on his day off & said that there had been a tool he couldn't find the day of the repair, which is used to tighten a fitting. He found the tool, came out, & immediately fixed it. I kept the panel off for about a week, so the wooden floor would dry. It now works perfectly. read more

When our 20-year-old Freeflow spa sprang two leaks, it was difficult finding a reliable, reputable service outfit. Some recommended by hottub dealers didn't even answer their phones. Others blew off appointments. But finding America Spa Services was the solution. My Jacuzzi 5 person hot tub had a major leak and an error code, I asked my pool tech from my work if he had any recommendations? he said American Spa Services was the best in the area. I called and spoke with Todd and he scheduled Sam to perform the service call. Sam arrived and was very nice and professional and was able to repair the leak and replaced the valve needed to remove the error code. I have a pre-owned spa which had been out of commission for a few months due to a hardware problem I wasn't able to fix myself. I was hesitant to call a repair company, fearing it would cost me more than the tub was even worth. Unfortunately I first hired someone off of Craigslist who said the tub was fixed, took my money, and never returned my calls when the problem recurred just minutes after he left. A neighbor off of the Nextdoor app also referred me to someone who came out to my house, didn't speak English, and asked me how I thought he should fix the hot tub. If you don't want to read the rest of my review, the moral of the story is to just call American Spa Services in the first place. You'll save yourself money and a headache! I'd used another spa repair service in LA a few years ago (which I won't name) and they charged a lot just to come out to the house, with no guarantee of actually diagnosing the problem and the trip fee wasn't applied to any potential work. The owner also had a bad attitude and acted like he was doing me a favor by even answering the phone. So I knew I needed to find another local provider. I found American Spa Services via Google and gave them a call. I spoke with Todd and he took the time to listen to and assess the troubleshooting I'd already gone through. He was able to book a service appointment for me just a couple days later. American Spa charges a very reasonable trip fee only if they can diagnose the problem AND they apply it towards the work that needs to be done. A much better deal than the previous repair company I'd dealt with. My spa had a very peculiar issue but Sam (the spa tech) expertly figured out the problem and after getting a new part from the manufacturer (in just one day!) he came back and fixed my spa in under an hour. I'd told him about the nightmare I'd had trying to fix the tub and he gave me a great rate on the repair and also only charged me the actual cost of the part which is pretty much unheard of in any business. It was one of the first times I was actually happy to write a check! Both Sam & Todd are super friendly and professional. I'm so glad to have finally found a reputable spa repair company. If anything ever goes wrong in the future I will only work with American Spa Services! Let me tell you how crappy these people are.... I have a spa that had sprung some leaks and in trying to lube and tighten the jets, I broke a couple of them off. Bad me, I know. So I called American Spa Services. The "tech" came out and gave the spa a cursory look, went back to his van to check the parts catalog, then informed me that it would cost $700 to fix. Did you get that? SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!. Two hundred dollars of that was to replace the two broken jets which he claimed were no longer manufactured. He would have to drill holes for which he had "special tools." (Like a drill bit? Duh...) He said it might be cheaper just to get a new spa. Okay...so I then called the manufacturer and got two new jets (wait...I thought they were no longer being made?). Those two jets cost me a total of $4. Four dollars, people. And I just screwed them in. The other $500 he wanted to charge was for another component; I was able to get that for $24. Having used American Spa Services several times over a 6 year period, I had been pleased with their work and customer service. This has changed. Recently, they installed a spa pump for me. I trusted them to the point that they performed the work while I was not home. Later, I noticed that the PVC went from a 45 degree arm to a 90 degree arm and then into a messy appearing series of fitters to make the adjustment from 2" to 1.5" with sloppy drips of PVC glue on the fittings. I also noticed excessive noise while the pump ran, but it was quiet when I placed my hand on the PVC. It appeared like less than acceptable PVC work. I took photos of the PVC job, and emailed them. I also called (call #1) to say I would be emailing the photos, they said they'd take a look. No response (#1). I called (call #2) back a few days later, and was told that they deleted the pictures without looking at them because they asked the technician and he didn't recall any issue, and he only installed a pump-not PVC..?! I couldn't believe my ears, how do you install a pump without replacing the PVC? We agreed that I would re-send the photos so they could be looked at this time. No response again (#2). I called again (call #3) and was assured they'd look at the photos and get back to me. No response (#3). This morning I called again (call #4), and was told by the business owner, Todd, that the job looked perfect, and that he refused to send a technician to inspect the work. 2 emails and 4 calls with no response is the perfect way to permanently lose a customer. They clearly showed me that they do not value customer satisfaction with a job, nor do they value my business. read more

The service tech was friendly enough, however, I was charged $90.00 for the service call and then told that I needed a new circuit board and that it would cost $$967.00 After asking around, a friend recommended Jim Jansen out of Camarillo. He came out and determined that I needed a sensor and new capcitors for the main board and a pump. Total parts and labor..$300! I cannot say enough good things about my experience with American Spa Services. We've had a broken spa tub in our bathroom since the day we moved into our home. One home inspector, two handymen, and a plumber looked at it and gave us wildly conflicting reports: broken engine, disconnected wires, and inaccessible installation. We even called around and came up empty. Finally, my husband googled "how do I fix my spa tub?" and this place came up. We called and made an appointment. Miguel showed up on time and spent two minutes looking at the entire unit before he figured out the problem. TWO MINUTES! He was extremely knowledgeable about the make and model and was not thrown off at all by the crazy installation situation. He was friendly, professional, and prepared to fix it. Not only that, but Miguel walked me through the various features of the model, including the built-in heater. My husband and I cannot believe it took us three years to get a spa tub fixed that this company took care of for the cost of a service call. Had we only known about this company! We will only use this company from now on and cannot say enough about our great experience from start to finish. P.S. I am so surprised by the low reviews about this company that I'm seeing in the margins. Not so good! I was out of town an our jacuzzi tub stopped working so my wife researched American tub an had them come out for service. I was tipped off when they showed up because my wife called me to ask a few questions. I have experience with similar issues because our house in Malibu recently had the same problem. I figured it was the air switch, which it was!! The problem is that they CHARGED $387.14 for the part which is $21 Less than one hour after they left the tub stopped working an they stopped answering the phone, after several attempts he stated they would come back a different day. "Jessie" the tech was nice. Later rather than coming back out they decided to credit back the CC. Like some other people who commented here, I had good service with this company for more than a year. Now that we have a problem with some poor work from their technician, Charles, they are rude and told us to take our business elsewhere., Todd, the manager, was friendly when we signed up for service, but now he is rude and insulting. Paul gave us great cleaning service, and we will miss him. But, after spending thousands with these guys for repairs, plus service as well, I expect and deserve to at least be spoken to in a respectful manner. I wonder if the owners agree with Todd sending a client like us away. How much money do we have to spend with them to be treated fairly. I recently called American Spa Services when my spa went into watch dog mode. Miguel came out and was very professional & informative. He told us that it's usually caused by the heat sensor, but that it looked fine (they usually look corroded when they need to be replaced). He could have just replaced it, but recommended he try first to reset the spa at the circuit board and see if that fixed the problem. He said that if it happened again that they would come out to replace the sensor and still credit us for the initial $65 service charge. He gave us all kinds of tips about the products we were using and even directed me to a different supply store that had better prices. After a few days the spa did go into watch dog mode again (right before a party we were having.) I called and they were booked solid and unable to come prior to the party, but I spoke to Todd who was kind enough to walk me through every possible solution to at least get it working for the party. He took at least 5 calls from me in one day and miraculously we got it working to last through the party! (It went in to watch dog mode again the morning after the party.) They're coming out again today to get us up and running again. I love that they credit you back for the $65 service fee when they do the work. I called another company prior to American Spa and they wanted to charge $129 and only credit back $50 for the work - $79 to just tell me the problem...I don't understand that. (By the way, this other company also said immediately on the phone that it was probably the circuit board and quoted me $1200-$1800 - I checked online and found these circuit boards run at the highest $650 to purchase.) When I called American Spa they said it most likely was not the circuit board, but if it was then it would be closer to $800 to install...definitely appreciate their honesty. I don't know where this other company came up with quoting more than double to install a new circuit board. A nightmare that will end in Small Claims On Dec 8 2017 I called this company because the pump on my jacuzzi stopped working. They (Jesse) came on Dec 12 and said he could probably fix the engine but that it was old so I told him to change the pump for a new one. Only condition was it had to have the same or more power than the one I had. Quoted $673 for a new pump and labor. (pump on amazon is $250, (this I learned later). I had to pay $200 advance for them to com back and install it. I don't remember the exact dates but after the pump was installed 1. The power of the pomp was not even 50% of what it was (everyone in the family confirmed this). Jesse came back and he said it was because some hose that was broken let air pass but he "FIXED" it. Tried to convince me it was normal. 2. Not sure what he did but when he was done it had slightly more power, still not as much as it used to. 3. I called two days later because there was a leak. 4. Came back fixed it (but he didin't). 5. I opened the spa my self to find a huge leak (have video and everything) he also, left the pump on some leftover PVC, some pieces of the jacuzzi and the best of all... that hose he FIXED, was left held with pressure pliers (yup, photos as well) It was a mess! 6. I called once agin but this time I requested to send ANYONE but Jesse. Not because he was a bad person but his work was jut NOT GOOD. For the record, he is actually very nice. They said they would send Todd the ext day. Next day Todd called saying he had car trouble so he wouldn't make it. But he couldn't make it next day, he had other appointments. (so he can cancel mine but no others thay maybe have not being in trouble for a month? 7. Two days later they com to fix it and guess who was at the door. Jesse. 8. He was so kind he brought me two jets I was missing... except I tried to tell him they wouldn't fit, he insisted they would and left. 9. Of course they didn't (too big) 10 Jacuzzi still leaking. 11. By now we have emptied the spa 4 times thats 350 gallons each time (considering they won't fix it I'll have to empty at least one more time, but will get to that) 1750 gallons of wasted water not to mention the. Where I live water is charged in tiers, the more I use the more expensive it is so well over $100. I called again on Feb 5th now kind of angry and I was told someone would be at my house between 12- and two (this is every time, this is A LOT of my time. Guess what??? 12. THEY NEVER CAME!!!!!!!!!!! 13. By 5:30 I left a message now VERY VERY ANGRY, where I said this review would happen if they didn't fix it. 14. At 9:00 AM I get a call apologizing with lame excuses such as we are moving and our computer system had a problem. 15. Someone who claims to be the manager comes and before he opens the spa says "wow! thats a big leak" after that proceeds to open the spa and say, sorry but tis is not our fault but for $365 we can detect where the leak is. 16. HOW DARE YOU!!! 17. I told him I didn't agree and he was incredible condescending, saying he wasn't going to do free work for me and that the leak was independent of their work (it is not) and that it was a coincidence that I got a leak after they performed work on my spa. 18. Asked to leave my property and he refused until he took video of the inside of the jacuzzi while saying out loud (as it would be on the video) that there was no leak. 19. Had to ask my property several times. 20. No I would not recommend this company or Jesse's work or the manners of the manager. 21. Absolutely atrocious customer service!! I had my above ground hot tub drained out and detailed a few days ago for $195 by Jesse at American Spa. I am very unwell, so didn't go out to watch him service it, but my personal assistant was available to him during the appointment. She said Jesse was very nice and that he got into the empty tub and cleaned everything thoroughly, which I was very glad to hear. She also said that he was full of compliments for how I had designed the space. He did not stay until the tub had refilled completely, (which I can understand), but I believe he should have stopped by in an hour or so to check on things, and to finish the job by ensuring that everything was running smoothly. When I was finally able to go outside to inspect his work for myself, and hopefully get into the tub, I turned on the jets and was shocked to see the water flying out of the tub every which way, which we then realized was due to the water level being significantly under the jets. There has never been a leaking issue with this tub, or any other issue, for that matter, as it is only about a year old and has been used less than a dozen times. We looked around to see if there were any leaks, and couldn't find any, but still tightened the caps at the base of the spa. Then we refilled the tub with the garden hose and waited for it to heat up again, which took yet more time and energy, and by the time it was ready to use, it was much too late and too cold outside. So I looked forward to using it the following day, and once again, I was faced with the very same issue. And yet again, this morning. So I have been unable to use it -- (my doctors now tell me I should get in it every day) -- and have stopped filling it back to the appropriate level as it a huge waste of water & power. I called & left a voicemail for American Spa on Saturday (they are closed on the weekends) telling them about the above problem and requesting that Jesse or someone else please come out and fix the problem as soon as possible as it was costing me more each day in water and power to keep refilling & heating up the spa. This morning, I get a call from Todd, and he couldn't have been more condescending, rude and unpleasant. If he worked for me, and dared to speak to a customer the way he spoke to me, I'd fire his ass right away. Anyway, his unshakably firm stance is that it is NOT their fault or problem that my hot tub (which never leaked before) is now leaking. He made some really dumb analogy which I can't remember because it was just too ridiculous & laughable to entertain seriously. I said that this problem did not exist prior to the servicing of the hot tub, and he growled at me "We did not service it". Huh!!?? To my mind, draining the tub and detailing it IS servicing it. He said that I was "accusing" them wrongly, and insisted that it was not their problem. I said that I wanted them to be accountable for the job they did and for what occurred in the aftermath of their working on my tub, and to send someone over to fix the problem. He kept yelling at me, and I said that if they wouldn't accept responsibility, I would be forced to leave a negative review on Yelp, to which he said "Go ahead" or something to that effect, and finally hung up on me. So here I am! And I will most definitely be contacting the CEO of this company to apprise him/her of the appalling (or rather, non-existent) customer service. I rate this company minus 5 stars. Trust the bad reviews. I hired them to inspect a hot tub I was looking to buy. I was skeptical from the beginning because Todd, the owner is just not a nice guy, but since I did't have many options I went for it. What a mistake. A few weeks later, I still don't have the report. I just called in and spoke to Todd, who in summary told me to go f**k myself, that if his services were that bad why was he so rich, and to finalize he said he wouldn't send me the report and he will buy the spa himself. Pro: We paid $195 for out very dirty spa to be cleaned, and Jesse did a great job. I would recommend this service. Con: We paid $125 for a tutorial to learn how to operate the spa (which we inherited when we purchased our house), and Jesse spent less than 7 minutes with my husband. We ended up spending over an hour reading the manual which taught us all sorts of weekly and monthly maintenance tasks that we had not been informed were necessary to keep the spa in good working condition. When I called the company to talk about this, their response was, "Why didn't your husband ask more questions?" If we knew what we didn't know, we wouldn't have paid for the tutorial. This company's lackluster and unapologetic response was enough for me to find another company to fix the significant leak that we noticed two days after American Spa Services evaluated and cleaned our spa. read more

My husband and I were shocked by American Spa Service's unprofessional behavior when we approached them about a problem with our spa cover. We had to pursue Todd for almost 2 months to get a response to our complaint. Initially, we contacted Todd on February 18, 2011 to report that our new spa cover less than a year old was collecting water on the surface and growing mold underneath. We sent photos of the spa cover as requested. Todd said he would contact the manufacturer, determine their policy and get back to us. When we didn't hear from him, we made a follow up call March 5, 2011, leaving a message with Pat. On April 1, we called again. Todd admitted that he was avoiding the call. He told us that we must have damaged the top by putting something on top of it. We assured him it was not us. We've never set anything on top of it heavier than a towel. Todd said it was impossible for American Spa Services or the manufacturer to damage the top because of the way the cover is packaged after it is made, implying the damage is our fault. When asked if the problem could have occurred at the manufacturer, he didn't have an answer. He said he's never seen this problem before but the manufacturer gets this complaint all the time. His solution is to replace the foam core and re-stitch the cover at some cost to us. But we didn't damage the cover and the manufacturer (Spacovers.com) offers a 3 year guarantee. We shouldn't have to pay for something we didn't do. read more

If there was a way to give a 0 star review I would. You should really avoid these guys like the plague... First off, I inherited service from this company when I purchased my new home. They instantly raised the service price from $39.99 per month to $54.99 a month (for service EVERY OTHER THURSDAY) because they told me the previous person was grandfathered in, and with a new credit card, they needed to increase the price. Second... anytime I called because I needed to re-schedule a day due to a conflict, they were NOT accommodating and screamed at me over the phone saying "what do you want me to do, we cannot do that". In addition they told me that they would have to charge me double the following visit because the service person would have to do double the work. So I set up a camera at my house and taped their following visits... their visit included: spending 5 minutes at my property... not even taking the entire cover off the spa... testing the levels for less than 30 seconds... fishing out 2 leaves. They did not check the still water in the drink holder, they did not check the heater, they did not check the lines... it was essentially half assed They were at my house for LESS THAN 5 MINUTES I had service on every other thursday. This month, there were 5 thursdays so they should have come 3 times. Yesterday, which was the third time they did not show up. I called and they asked "how do you know someone didnt come". I responded "no note was left and I have my back yard taped". I was yelled at my the person over the phone... after i said that i would discontinuing my service with the company and fight charges against my card made for this month since they did not provide agreed service. The sociopath on the phone cut me short and screamed at me "fuck you, you freak" and hung up the phone. Way to provide great customer service! Todd and Jesse took a lot of heat and a lot of stress in tracking down repairs to my no-name brand spa at my house in Malibu, CA. Jesse said it was the most difficult spa to program he's ever encountered. However they took ownership of the problems and returned many times until finally it was fixed correctly. We run a bed/breakfast from our home so having the spa is an important component. My brand new spa from Costco had error codes from the beginning. American Spa Services was hired by the manufacturer to do the repairs and install the parts that were also shipped to me by the manufacturer. Charles was the technician and he was extremely capable and knowledgeable. He was so professional in his work and his demeanor. I was so impressed by him. He is a really smart and also sweet man who I have all confidence in. American Spa Services has been an excellent company to do business with and I won't use anybody else. Charles is a huge asset to American Spa Services and they are lucky to have him represent their company. I highly recommend this company for all spa needs. We have been using this spa service for at least a year. I have spent at least $2000 with this company. But I'm here to warn anyone do not do business with them. Paul who does their maintenance is awesome very friendly polite. However Todd their office manager who I believe is actually the owner is rude inconsiderate and literally just told us to take our business elsewhere after his technician Charles broke my spa. I called Todd out to repair my spa and he sent his technician Charles. My spa was tripping the breaker when we turned it on. Charles convinced me that it was the heater and I paid almost $400 to replace it. When he left the control panel was adjusting the temperature turning on the Jets etc. However I noticed later that night that the temperature would not go down and was stuck at at 105. The control panel worked we were able to turn the temperature down still were able to turn on the Jets etc. However the thermostat was not triggering and turning off the heater. I called back the next morning and they agreed to send a technician out. When he arrived the control panel was working he was able to adjust the Jets and turn the temperature up and down. Then in the midst of his troubleshooting he did something and the control panel no longer works at all. Winstons I think not. He now wants to charge me to replace the control panel that he very clearly broke. When we called to talk to Todd the supervisor he was rude condescending and literally told my husband that he should take his business elsewhere. Furthermore when I asked Charles to have Todd call me he stormed out of my house never telling me he was done or leaving and just left. I had to actually call Todd because Todd was not calling us. Unfortunately this is not the first incident of this company replacing something only to have to come back out and replace something else. The first time I believe it may have been a coincidence even though they put in a bad pump and had to replace that twice. This time there is no coincidence they broke my spa and I now have to pay to have it repaired. Please save yourself the trouble and find A company that is reputable back to work and knows a little bit about customer service read more

I have used them many times but having learned about a bad electrical wiring job they did ,I wont use them anymore. I spoke to them about it and was told it was past the warranty time of instalation. Jesse at American Spa Services is fantastic! He couldn't help us right away because we ended up needing a whole new electrical panel (way beyond just the hot tub) but took the fee he had to charge us for a diagnosis and applied it to the cost of the repair he eventually did make for us when we resolved the issue. What I appreciated the most was his thinking outside the box. A lot of times companies will charge you for the most expensive repair they can get. Jesse is all about finding alternate solutions. He gave us options. So refreshing! Everything he touched is still working perfectly. I wanted to wait to post until it had been a few months just to make sure everything held and it has. We are beyond satisfied! Will definitely use them again if anything happens to our heater or pump in the future, but I don't anticipate that happening for a long long while - he fixed it the right way the first time! Also, we were able to get appointments easily and he was super fast at the actual repairs/installation. Prices competitive, better than most! read more

I have a Starlight Hot Tub that I use just about every night, unfortunately it was not working for about a month. I've tried two other hot tub technician and one gave me a ridiculous quote. The other tech couldn't even figure out what the problem was. So I contacted American Spa Services and they set up a schedule the next day and their technician Sam showed up and he did Great!! Oh please, they don't even deserve a star. American Spa Services has been our go to choice for spa service for years. However, that is probably because we never had a problem with their service. Warning! Warning! If you have any kind of problem with them, they will not stand by their work. They will not return phone calls and they will accuse you of being mean to them. If you want a company that will come back if you have a problem - it's not them. How I wish I'd read these reviews before trusting them. STAY AWAY! AVOID!!!! Or you will regret it. read more
