been coming here for a while , i don't complain about food , i pay i eat idc if it was over cooked under cooked i eat it either way . my experience on april 15 , 2026 was going well i order the triple play which is chicken , steak and ribs . ordered my steak well done , thing was basically put on the grill for 1 minute each side it look like . whatever its fine people make mistakes ill just eat , then my salad had hair on it , okay whatever another thing no complaint . then my rice had a roach in it or something this where i was like you know maybe they should change it out or something so no one else gets it , i got to the manager he says , " not my food , not here " like where else would i get a roach from if im eating right beside the salad bar , as a manager you should try your best to accommodate ur customers i didn't care to get my money back i just wanted to make sure it was going to get taken care of , and the reviews look like the manager is a big issue as well i will make sure health inspection comes for a visit since the cashier was like oh it's probably one of those beetles which that tells me they know about it and don't care!!

I moved away from CT 20 years ago and was absolutely ecstatic to come back here and see things were still as amazing here as they were back then! Such an American classic they should landmark this place. Holds a special place in my heart as my grandpa used to bring me here. Please never change, everything from the food and super friendly staff are great!

    No taste in this food.

Overpriced. Scallops were hard, like rubber. Baked potato tasted like it was heated in the microwave. Mac was tasteless. Don't come here, ever.

I have worked there for five years their food is great! Especially their ribs , Chris Gill makes the best ribs thus far. I started working there when I was 17 first job ever ..hired on the spot by Miss Isabel since 2016 now in 2020 I put in my flag at the age of 22 to start my new journey. If you want good quality food you should come to American Steak House. My favorite two dishes were the #7 , #13 with the #1 Sirlion filet steak. I'm going to miss everybody. -Micalah Wright

they have the best sandwich combos ever. I love their phiilysteak with onions and peppers and cheese. It is fantastic. Can't beat the price of 6.99 with fries and a drink. Best lunch spot in CT.

I had the shrimp and grits that were the best grits I'd ever eaten and my husband raved over the chicken in Jamaican brown sauce. The service was attentive and the cocktails and wine list interesting and well done. Very noisy because it's a small place but we had a corner high top and could hear each other. Chef popped out to greet us which was just lovely. Hidden away so make sure you look for it.

My second time dining at 29 Markle Court yesterday! When…read morefirst I was introduced to this restaurant: an impromptu visit with a group, and we shared small plates, family style. It was delicious! This time, I reserved a table for four, including guests who were up to an adventurous evening. The place was hopping! A Friday evening fun atmosphere and a beautiful bar that reminded me of a Paris restaurant. We were seated at a great table with banquettes in a corner of the front dining room. Our waitperson was excellent- energetic, informed of the menu, friendly & interactive, I believe her name was Shamira. We received great recommendations for dishes on the menu accommodating certain preferences. Following Cocktails - from the usual order of Scotch, to the " Crimson" spicy, indeed. The "Wanderer" imbiber said she could sip them all night. I, being mostly just a wine drinker, ordered from the "unusual wines" - a delicious white wine from Languedoc named "Picpoul De Pinet, Feline Jourdan", which paired very well with both courses. Based on my enthusiasm we all shared a bottle with our Main Course! Total alignment. We shared Caesar salads, which were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their selection of a main course: Halibut with corn risotto, Shrimp & Grits with spicy red sauce (just right spicy), My dish was Mussels in ginger & lemongrass red Curry, paired with grilled bread for soaking up that sauce, Yum!; a Whole Red Snapper with Mole sauce for my husband - most adventurous diner of the evening! We stretched ourselves to order two desserts: Crème Brûlée and Goat Cheesecake! Sublime. On departing the Restaurant, we were thanked for dining by the Proprietor, Wesley. We had an inspiring conversation about Bridgeport's future. A memorable evening.

They raved about this sea urchin? dish with Calabrian chilies and to make sure Chef Dan Snyder was working when we went. Not sure if he was working last night, but I'm sure he was if he's head chef. We were very intrigued and made a reservation shortly after and upon pulling in to the parking lot, realize we had already been here! Too funny. Our first trip we had the dumplings and they were good from what I remember. I believe I did not review the restaurant since we only had appetizers. Moving on to this second excursion, it was a nice time. Friendly and attentive staff. We started with the gorgonzola salad, and I had the Branzino and boyfriend had the Chicken Scarpiello. Everything was delicious. Branzino was over couscous. Two pieces of fish. Definitely filling. Chicken Scarpiello amazing flavor profile. You aren't getting romantic ambiance which I like to go for on Saturday nights and it can be quite loud during busy time (6:45) so just note that. It's nice that it's in a plaza with a cool place next door to grab a drink after (Sophie's). Honestly the bar inside looked nice here too. Walked by it when I went to use the restroom. It's sort of tucked away in the back. Worth checking out.

Whatever reason, I thought I did a review on this place years ago, as I've been coming here for…read moreyears, and I always have given it 4 1/2 five star rating because the food was fantastic and they had by far the best clam chowder ever. It was a type of place that I would say don't judge a book by its cover, it was a sneaky good place with incredible and creative seafood options. The lobster pot pie was delicious, the lobster quesadilla out of this world, the steak tips, very tender, oyster, Rockefeller, sinfully addictive... a lot of great offerings. Came back after a long time of not being here back in the fall and had a wonderful experience with my girlfriends. Came back today, and it was absolutely catastrophic! I don't know if it's under new management, but the whole place was chaotic, the service was awful, and the food was terrible... The clam chowder wasn't clammy in flavor like it used to be, it it was heavily laden with bacon bits, which, if you're a bacon fan is all the way for you, but I'm getting clam chowder, not bacon chowder. I ordered the mac & cheese lobster which was described as a creamy mac & cheese with lobster and truffle oil... There was not one single sign of truffle oil on this dish at all. It actually did have generous amounts of lobster, but it was far from creamy and the pasta itself was dry. My other half had the fried clams, they rate as some of the worst clams we have ever tried, and the portion was extremely skimpy, and the clam composition was mostly that grizzle! ( the attached photo is the dish as it was delivered to us... It had not yet been touched. )The fries were ice cold, and to boot what made it worse, no signs of life from our server...hello, hello...I felt like Adele! The gentleman who took our order was busy going outside, taking care of the tables outside went by us countless times and didn't even pay mind to us-you've thought we were invisible! The other waitresses that walked by, couldn't even understand body language, maybe they did, but didn't care because it wasn't their table, but we sat there for 40 minutes and no one ever came to check on us. Never had this issue with this place before, which makes me think that it's really under new management, given how the food was, and the lack of care of the personnel. I doubt I will be coming back here again given the experience, and I never do this, but for the first time ever I didn't leave a tip because they were not deserving of a tip. We finished our sodas, we were thirsty, and we were never offered anything more to drink. Why - because again no one came to check on us. When I finally called one of the waitresses over, she came and asked if I want to wrap up the food and I told her I needed a container and I pointed to my husband's food and I told her that the clams were god awful and why they were bad and unfortunately, we were neglected by our server and all other staff for that matter. She told me she would take the clams off the bill and she would come back with a container for my dry lobster mac & cheese. Five minutes goes by no sign of the waitress 10 minutes goes by no sign of the waitress or my container, finally I call the person who looked like she was manning the floor and checked on all other tables and how they were doing except for OURS Was there something wrong with us? We weren't dressed like bums, we sat in the corner, we didn't have extra sets of eyes, we didn't have an extra arm attached to our body, we were just regular, typical people, but she ignored us. Bill came out to $33.50 for bacon chowder, dried lobster mac & cheese, and two Ginger ales... Never again! Honestly, the way we were treated was shameful, hopefully they learn from this lesson and they do better... No one deserves this, especially with the cost of food these days. It took us 50 minutes to get here, and we made it a trip because we've had great experiences in the past, but seeing that all three dishes were disappointing makes me believe that this is not the same place that it used to be.
