Drive 6 hours to Anchorage to the dealership. I called up American Tire & Auto, and they got me in IMMEDIATELY and fixed my problem! At first, they billed me for an hour of labor but it only ended up taking 30 minutes so they discounted that off my bill which I wouldn't have known the wiser!! We were going to go to the Wholesale up the street for my husband's winter tires but will be coming back here even if it's more expensive. If I could put 0 starts I would. Genuinely the worst place to get services done. I had a brake hose, CV axle, and 2 front struts "replaced". 2 months later I went back wanting to get more stuff done to my car and scheduled my appointment. On the day of my appointment somehow someway I wasn't on the list to get it done. I went to another mechanic and got an inspection turns out the brake hose was leaking and I told them I had already gotten it done so I went back to American tire and auto and they fixed it but once I got back home I looked at the brake fluid reservoir and it was basically empty. Now forwarding 6 months later from my initial repair I took it to another mechanic and turns out they never changed out the struts because they are failing somehow someway OEM struts are bad. read more

I came in looking to buy some wheels for my F150 and met with John Massie, Assistant Manager, at the front counter. He told me they didn't have what I needed in stock and gave me two websites to check out for wheels. He wrote these on his business card, telling me to check what THEY HAD online. So I did that and found the wheels they said would fit my truck. So I ordered them, paying almost $400 for shipping. When I called to get them mounted, he told me they won't mount anything they didn't order through America Tire. Why wasn't I told this when he gave me the websites to look up to get my wheel? Then he says they could have gotten me a discount on shipping too. This information was not given to me until I already bought the wheels! Got an estimate for changing out the heater blower motor after they had replaced the right upper control arm. They wanted $560.00 to change out the blower motor-parts & labor. Service was fine enough but they broke my car's door handle and refused to do anything about it.

my husband brought his truck in on the 17th to get his tires replaced to summer tires. his special custom rims have a hubcap that has to be bolted on and unbolted to takeoff. husband hasn't drove his truck since the switch but noticed that one of the hubcaps was missing but the bolts were still screwed into the rim. James Mc and Sunnyboy were the mechanics working on the vehicle per the receipt. husband brought his truck to you guys and Jim was at the service desk went outside looked at the tire agreed that something happened or was wrong and told him he would go talk to his staff and get a call back. when the callback was received Jim working the case stated they had nothing to do with it and someone probably stole it which makes no sense because no one steals one hubcap and leaves the bolts still in the rim. i'm very disappointed in the service we have received and can't believe you would brush it off as someone stole a singular hubcap and left the bolts back in the rim as if they wouldn't need it to put on their own vehicle. I would expect some type of apology or discussion with the mechanic about his work because he also filled that exact same tire two psi over the recommended limit and the tire could have burst. Jim stated the inspection paper is cleared so they also didn't do that. Yes we should have inspected ourselves before leaving the lot. Tbh what looks like happened is someone forgot to put it back on and none of us noticed and now you don't have the cap anymore or can't find it. take responsibility for your mechanics work and at least offer a resolution or discount on next services. Update! Months later I come back into the shop and try to order the same wheels! Once again they tell me that 20x12 wheels with a -44 offset wont fit on my 33x12.5in tires, even though I have seen it done many times before. I order the wheels anyway and called around to see if any other company would put them on. GIANT TIRE would! They put them on for me and they look great. I highly recommend taking your business to giant tire. They have wonderful customer service and will not argue with you. read more

I had to do 1 star apparently. I work 7 days a week 1.5 hour drive one way. My tires were shot and I needed replacements. I called American tire on cushman and was told yes they could get the tires I wanted but they were special order. Then I was told they no longer accepted cards over the phone because of fraud. Ok. That's cool I understand. I was able to have a late show up day so I went in. The same person I spoke on the phone with told me he was mistaken and could not get the tires I wanted. Frustration levels going up. He then quoted me 475$ a tire, plus 50$ each for shipping and said it would take 2 weeks. Got on amazon, saved 800$ on just the tires, then 200$ on shipping. They showed up in 2 days. That's 1000$ savings. He then informed me "good luck getting them mounted an balanced because we all support local buying an nobody will install them." Here I sit at Alyeska, they're mounting and balancing them. Moral of the story. Stay away from American tire on cushman. Their cost for those tires we're way less than 275$ I paid on amazon. They're marking things up 200% or more trying to rob you. Order your tires online. Goto a good tire shop like Alyeska who is happy to have your business mounting and balancing. Save 1000's read more

I brought my car here to have my tires changed over. They kept going flat so I brought my car back to have them check the tires. They said they fixed it and sent me on my way. A week later they started deflating again and I once again brought it back to have them check it. They told me this time it was the beads and that it was fixed. Not even a day later, the tires go completely flat again. I really don't even know what to say here. Terrible customer service. Don't know what the fuck they're talking about, or doing. HUGE RIP OFF! My husband took his truck in to get an alignment. At the time he had only had the front of his truck lifted. So they asked him to finish the lift and then to please bring it back. He did. Then while he was out in the field, they called him and said ( bear with me I don't know parts and such ) that he needed to replace a certain part that other wise they couldn't do the lift and that they could do it, but it would be around $70. My husband told them he knows for a fact that's not true because he went out and bought a brand new part and put it in when he was putting a lift on. The guy replies "oh, yeah you're ok. They're just loose and need to be tighten." So there's a lie. Then they call back again and tell him that he had put another part on wrong when doing the lift. That they could fix it for another $70. My husbands friend has the same truck and had him check the part on his lift to see of American tire and auto was bullshitting. Guess what? They were. The part they were referring to wouldn't be able to lock into place and work if he had put it on wrong. It just wouldn't have worked. The guys response "oh, well ok. We'll do your alignment and then you can come get your truck. " So my husband goes in on his lunch break to get his truck. Speaks with the manager and they didn't do his fucking alignment!!!! But they charged him $100 for a diagnosis! We never asked for a diagnosis!!! All we had asked for was a simple alignment! Which we didn't get and they still charged $100 for something we didn't ask! I would not recommend you take your vehicle here. I went there because 2 of my tires kept going flat, they would lose a few pounds a day. I paid them 50$ for them to say there was corrosion on the wheels and that they cleaned the 2 that I was having issues with. The next day I went to work to come out and find the tires they "fixed" were completely flat. I took my vehicle to a different tire store where they said the bead had been ripped and they would no longer hold air. American tire ripped the bead of my tires and sent me down the road anyway without regard for my safety or that of my family. When I went back into the store to address the issue I was greeted with, "I hope you dont expect us to do anything because our computers are down." I was in there first thing Monday and they said it would be ready in an hour or so. 63 minutes later the truck was ready. I took my car and after being there already half hour, they gave me a story about the wheel size was different. If I didn't need tires and hadn't already drove half hour to get there, I'd have left. American Tire and Auto Let me start by saying when I purchased my tires at American Tire and Auto I was given great service. I bought the extend warranty for my new set of tires. I felt good doing business with a local business, compared to my husband who buys his tires at Sam's Club or Sears. On August 19, 2014 as I was driving to work, my low tire pressure light came on. I stopped when it was safe. I had a flat tire on my Jeep. My husband and I took the tire to America Tire & Auto because I bought the extended warranty, which covers repairs. When we were picking up the tire, we were told that the tire could not be repaired because the tire was driven with a flat; they showed my husband the "cheese" inside the tire. The cheese is rubber build up that is cause by the heat of the rim riding on the inside of the tire. The sale person, Clayton who was helping us measured the depth of the tire thread, which was at eight, which he say was less than 50% tire wear. He told my husband to come back, talk to the Sales person who handles warranty, and maybe get a new tire at a Pro-Rate price. My husband talked to the Manager today. I know there are two sides of the story, what the discussion between my husband and the Manager does not really matter. Because I know when my husband gets frustrated, he can be a Smart @$$. However, they nor the manufacturer of the tire would not honor the warranty, because I drove the tire with low air pressure/flat. What I learned here is if you have a flat tire, you had better stop where you are if you are not willing to buy a new tire. If I have get another flat, I am going have to think do I do the right thing and be safe or stop where I am at, because being safe does not matter when you buy an extended warranty for your tires. Even though we are willing to buy a new tire at a Pro-Rated cost, I had to buy a new one. We were not asking for the world, just wanted to repair or buy a new tire at a Pro-Rated price, since I had over 50% of tire wear. I am going to send a letter to the manufacture about this since it seems they do not care about being safe when you have to stop to change a flat tire. I know American Tire and Auto will probably response to this letter I wrote, but I am not pointing fingers on who said what. I just outlaying my frustration and the lesson I learned about driving and not stopping quickly when a flat tire occurs and not being cover by the Extended Warranty I bought. AMERICAN TIRE CONSISTENTLY DOES DANGEROUS, CRAPPY, AND DISHONEST WORK. This is based on what I have observed 3 times. What I haven't observed or see, concerns me even more now that I know their way of doing business. Specfically, years ago when American Tire mounted new tires on my RV, then improperly mounted the inner dually valve stem extensions. When they flew off, the centrifugal force caused damage to the valve stems and the inner tires went flat. (serious inconvenience and potential danger to my family) Last year, again when they did the remounting of the winter rims and tires I fortunately noted that the extensions were broken by improper mounting. No one told me and they tried to pass the vehicle off as safe and finished. Last year, I took the high road and talked to management about the problem and figures they would rise to the occasion. They apologized and remedied the problem. This year (ROUND THREE) when I dropped the vehicle off I made note of the importance of proper mounting of the inner tire extensions. When I called to see if my vehicle was done I asked about the extensions and I was told that it was done correctly. Fortunately, I checked when I went to pick up my RV. Not only was one of the extensions not mounted properly, the individual doing the work didn't even put valve stem caps on. I call this crappy and irresponsible. An inner dually going flat on my RV on a road trip can be dangerous, inconvenient, and costly. If I knowingly put my family and friends in harms way, I would be irresponsible. Returning to American Tire would be irresponsible of me. It is my civic responsibility to report American Tires failure to meet minimum safety standards. There is no excuse for American Tires failure to meet minimum safety standards. Three of the four times that I have had American Tire change the tires and rims on this RV they have totally, irresponsibly screwed up. I ordered new wheels and tires from them and had them put them on. When I got home and was admiring my awesome new Mayhem wheels, I noticed no less than 61 quarter ounce weights on one of the wheels. Now, when I speak to people I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and I am respectful and lighthearted, until they give me a reason to not be, which took all of 15 seconds at American Tire on Cushman. When I took my vehicle back and casually asked what a "normal" amount of weight on a new wheel and tire would be, the guy said "oh usually about 4 to 8 ounces." So I said can you explain to me why the brand new wheels and tires you guys put on for me have roughly triple the "normal" weight? Guy gave me a ton of attitude, said oh, that's normal to which I said well that is not what you said 10 seconds ago, also I called the manufacturer of the wheel and they told me that is way too much weight, and I also called your counterpart at American Tire on 3rd Avenue who also said no, that is unacceptable." Cue the deer in headlight look from the guy. They re-indexed it and low and behold, that tire now has half the original weight! Issue #2, when I drove home from picking up the vehicle the first time when the wheels and tires were put on, the TPMS alert on my dash board kept going on and off intermittently so when I went back for the weight issue, I told him about that. He tried to tell me that it is because the battery is probably dying in one of the sensors, to which I said "you're telling me that completely coincidentally, you guys installed the TPMS from my old tires, and suddenly, by chance, the battery in one is supposedly dying within 15 minutes of you guys touching them, no way!" He gives me some more attitude and says well, it happens. I said no, it does not, you guys either damaged one or didn't install it correctly. He said if the light comes on again and stays on to bring it back. Well on the way to work this morning that is exactly what happened. So now I have to go back there for the 3rd time in a week and deal with these completely unprofessional and arrogant people.
