The LASIK procedure itself was fast. About 5 minutes per eye. There was some expected stinging the first 1-2 hours post-op which can be alleviated with some comfort drops that they send you home with. They also provide other eye drops that you will need the next two weeks so that was great. Slept after putting in some comfort drops, and woke up with no discomfort and was able to see 20/20. Yay!

Other physicians and PAs have suggested allergy medications, ointments and ocular specialists. Failing to find such a physician in my own service, I chose a specialist based on Yelp and Google reviews. He noted an irritation on the edge of the eyelid and suggested cleaning with baby shampoo followed by warm compresses as necessary. Son-of-a-gun, it worked!!!!!

I want to give an update because LasikPlus came very close to ruining my life. I had -1.5 vision in both eyes prior to lasik, but because they did a poor job vetting me, my vision is now -4.25. I was a poor candidate for lasik due to topographical issues in my corneas, but LasikPlus went full speed ahead, insisting that I was a prime candidate. Two other ophthalmologists have since told me that they were negligent in operating on me. I frankly wish I'd thought to sue them sooner, as I have post-lasik ecstasia as a result of going to them. Truly the biggest regret of my life, avoid this butcher shop with a 100 foot pole.

I stumbled upon Vision One via Groupon, but there's just something about discount services that makes me uneasy when it comes to something as important as your eyes. I still wanted to see how the consultations would vary, so I decided to make an appointment. I've had a prior consultation with another venue downtown, and they were very extensive in the tests conducted, and made me feel very comfortable. The surgeon himself even came in and told me how the process would work pre and post surgery. The consultation with Vision One was certainly different, to say the least. They don't have the main equpiment at the consultation office downtown, so the main problem was that they couldn't verify if I'd actually be eligible for lasik or PRK surgery and that I would find out the day of surgery (if moving forward with them). The surgery also takes place at a different office in the west suburbs and not the downtown location. The lasik process at Vision One also uses the older method, using a blade to make the flap on your eye, as opposed to new technology that uses lasers to make the flap; hence the cheap groupon price. I didn't feel comfortable at all coming out of this consultation and there was a night and day difference coming out of this one vs. the other two places I went to. Word of advice, if you're trying to save a few bucks, find it in other ways like eating out or other things in your budget that you can cut back on. When it comes to your eyes, it's worth dishing out the extra dollars to get a more safe and precise procedure. This is just a suggestion, you're in charge of your own decisions. Hope this is helpful! I call back today to inquire today and I get the same message, they're closed. I called several more times this morning to no avail. Now I understand that businesses are unfortunately closing after quarantine, but a courtesy call and changing the message on the voicemail would have been nice. Apparently they're only receiving customers on Monday. They "tried" to call and cancel all appointments due to COVID restrictions, but I made this appointment after the city was reopened. What impressed me was that after…read moreconsidering my prescription and preliminary data from their tech, he just told me that I was not a candidate for laser eye surgery (because of the degree of correction needed, and related potential complications due to that). He went on to explain why and answered all my questions. Though dissappointed, I really appreciated his honesty. I had gone to another Lasik center (part of a large national chain) before seeing Dr. Bryar, and had been offered laser procedures. Potential complications, though mentioned, seemed to be down played. I came to Dr. Bryar for a second opinion. I cannot imagine going through life with complications related to an elective procedure that was performed because of inconvenience (glasses) and perhaps a bit of vanity. Thank you Dr. Bryar.

I was then told the Dr. would be in to discuss if I could be a candidate for Lasiks or a similar procedure. I sat in the exam room for over 45 minutes. No one came in to tell me that the Dr. was running behind, in surgery or having a issue with a previous appointment. I walked out of the exam room after an hour meaning to leave. I ran into the tech, questioned her asking if I was going to see the Dr. She said, 'yes' and that she would go check. The tech came back to say the Dr. would be in in 'just a minute.' She was finishing up an appointment. I waited 6 more minutes and then left. I was in that office from 11:30am to 1pm and was seen for 15 minutes of that time. As this was a consultation for an elective surgery on a very necessary part of my anatomy and paying out of pocket for this delicate procedure, my intuition told me to bail. If a practice is overbooking their physicians that they cannot stay on time and do not have staff to update patients and potential patients on a physicians eta. If a Dr. is running behind on consults for over an hour and the practice is double/triple booking consults and patients, odds are that physician is WAY overworked and probably has no stamina, focus and wakefulness to be touching your eyes with a laser or scalpel. Go elsewhere. Definitely.

I wish I had the option to give a negative star for this location. I purchased 2 pairs of glasses…read more(had to) from this location. * The first one, I paid over $700.00, and had 4 adjustments, because the frame caused a blister on my ear. I was able to return them for a second pair (after paying an additional $70.00). * The second pair initially, slipped down my nose every 40 steps. I returned them 3 times for adjustments. The first time the technician was pleasant/helpful and the glasses seemed okay, until I walked. Every 55 steps, I had to push the glasses up on my nose. The second time I went in for an adjustment (last Saturday), I was told: I just need to push down harder against my nose because they didn't fit the bridge of my nose (WTF). I tried to deal with the constant pushing up, but I am a walker, and that solution was/is ridiculous. The third time (today) I went to the store, because the glasses kept sliding to the point of falling off my nose and was told by a technician, she could only adjust the glasses. Since I had already had the glasses replaced once, there was nothing more that could be done (what kinda flim flam business is this). I asked for the manager and was told she was unavailable until Monday, August 31, 2026, and that she was the one who told the technician that I was out of luck (no more could be done). I phoned the store to leave a message and to document my concerns. People, we're talking about over $800 for glasses, which I cannot use.
