This company is fantastic. We had a refrigerator that was leaking water into the bottom of the refrigerator. Argeny was the technician. He was knowledgeable, polite and professional. In less than half an hour, the problem was fixed. Total cost, including the service call fee,was less than $150. This compares with the over $1,000 we would have paid to buy a new refrigerator not to mention the whole aggravation of buying one. Americare makes it all so easy for the customer. Simply call. The very pleasant receptionist sets up a convenient time and you immediately get a text message confirming the appointment and the name of the technician. The technician calls half an hour before arrival and shows up right on time. Why buy a new appliance when the one you have may just need a little tender love. Use this company! They are great. They know what they are doing and are honest. As a follow-up, we had a minor problem a few days after the above repairs. Americare Appliance Service immediately dispatched Kenly who was pleasant, competent and efficient. Finding the cause of the problem was a bit of a mystery. Kenly consulted by phone with Argeny and, between the two of them, the cause was tracked down and quickly solved. No charge for the second service call. Very professional operation. Unlike many places, they actually answer the phone promptly instead of just a voice recording. And they show up during the promised time. Argeny fixed my dishwasher in two visits: first to diagnose the problem (I had to order a couple parts), then to perform the repair. (the issue was the meeting of the metal strike with the door latch). Everything fine now. Price was about what I would have expected ($125 initial diagnosis, $180 to fix, total $300. Parts cost me another $100). So for $400 I got a working dishwasher. Could I have applied it to a brand new one instead? Theoretically, but try ordering a new kitchan appliance during covid. I found the 5 star reviews to be spot on for Americare. Their rates are reasonable and the technicians I have dealt with have all been highly professional and skilled. They saved me from throwing out a perfectly good dishwasher because of a simple issue they were able to troubleshoot, one that a plumber completely missed. OMG!! I have been without an operable refrigerator since July 28 th. We have been living out of two small refrigerators I had in college. You would think that having a Cinch ( Sears) Home Warranty would have been sufficient enough to get a workable appliance. I had problems with Appliance Doctor's service, technician's grumpiness and inability to finally fix my D/W for over 3 months until the technical supervisor stepped in. Spent close to $1000 on them and finally just bought a new Machine for $1500. Terrible experience. Worse yet they offered me a paltry $75 refund adding insult to injury. So I called AMERICARE when my Miele needed a new door latch so the door could close properly and work. I paid $95 expecting that there was a good chance the dishwasher could be fixed on that visit. The technician told me the problem was the heater, but he didn't have the part and I'd have to get an estimate from the company for the repair. The estimate to fix the problem ($233) seemed excessive. I asked Americare to check that it was correct. He said he would call back right away but didn't. I tried again the next day, again was told he would check and call right back, but he never did. I purchased the part myself for $50 and found someone else to install it for $89. Once the new heater was installed, the dishwasher still didn't work and the problem turned out to be the control panel. Not recommended! read more

Yes, you can repair your old fridge and NOT contribute to planetary landfill pollution. When he arrived, Otis from Americare took one look at the five inches of ice that I had let build up inside my 1980s General Electric fridge over many months as I debated whether to buy new or repair the old thing. Otis shook his head and said, the repair might cost as high as $350 because it looked like hell had broken loose in there. But that's not what happened and Otis was truly honest. After chipping off all the ice (my bad), opening up the freezer to show the guts, though, he discovered the only problem was that the water filter had clogged, which is why the thing had been dripping inside for over a year, then began collecting ice inside the fridge compartment like a slow-growing iceberg. The ultimate repair fee was $150-$180 because it took so long to get the five inches of ice off of everything. (My bad for waiting so long.) Otis was awesome in patiently showing me the parts inside the freezer mechanism and how I could clear the water filter if it ever clogged again. I learned about how he learned HVAC from his dad and he really knew his stuff. While Consumer Reports magazine write-up says to replace a fridge after a certain number of years rather than repair it that certainly does not apply to old workhorses like this 1980s GE. The old stuff is made extremely well and sometimes can be repaired with just a small fix -- in this case cleaning a pinhole size hole out. I kid you not. My fridge is not pretty. Some paint is peeling from the surface. It's really quite old. But let me tell you -- it is 28 inches wide and not as deep as today's bigger models, NONE of which fit into my kitchen config without having to bash something apart. PLUS, the new fridges ALL had rickety dinky drawers that are like toy furniture. This old GE has three substantial real drawers and I LOVE it. I'm truly, deeply thrilled to have gotten this old GE back and running. It's a classic like a Ford. I'm sorry to go on so long, but all today's bogus consumer information about when to replace (and I read Consumer Reports closely ) would be to replace this vintage fridge. Phooey. My experience with this company was TOPS, despite an earlier scheduling glitch, which they fixed and the operator was personable and kind. Fridge repaired. My admittedly "cheap" 12-year old Summit refrigerator suddenly stopped cooling last week. Hoping that I wouldn't need to purchase a new fridge, I read reviews and chose Americare. Otis arrived today and spent around 90 minutes fixing a broken part under the freezer fan as well as spending a long time breaking up and removing the mini-iceberg which was behind the rear freezer wall. I saw a five-star rating on Home Advisor, so I gave this place a call. What a MISTAKE! I asked for someone to take a look at my oven and they told me to wait for their repair person from 1 to 5 o'clock, and then never showed up! A week before Christmas and I had a TON of things to do, and I wasted an entire afternoon waiting for them. No one ever called me to say the repair person would not be showing up. I CALLED THEM, and THEN was told that the guy was stuck in traffic in Brooklyn (I am in Manhattan), and they still never said that he wouldn't be showing up. One of the reasons I hired them was (a) because I had seen a five star rating on Home Advisor and (b) they were in Manhattan. I used Quick Best Appliance Repair instead and they were VERY good. This is the worse company with inexperience technician. I wish I could give no star. A repair guy came to my home to fix my washer machine and he misdiagnosed it. The washer machine would spin sometimes. All he did was stood over the washer and turned the knob a few times. I was told the washer machine transmission needed to be replaced which was not the case. The cost was over $400 so in other words it was not worth getting it fixed. This company still got to walk away with $92 for nothing. I had to hire another serviceman. I was told the washer clutch was slipping and needed to be change it cost me $185. I contacted Americare with my complaint and the manager would not speak with me. read more

AAR is amazing! I bought all my appliances at the same time (~10 years ago). This past summer started the Rise of the Machines. Everything in the house started to break down - one by one - over the next several months. I have had Prince (one of their Senior Technicians) in my house so many times (six!), he should have his own set of keys. The team (Mabel, James, Argeny and Prince) are wonderful, warm people. I read the other reviews. And, honestly, I am usually one of those strict customers who expects companies to get it right the first time, and has little patience for mistakes. So, I can understand the frustration the bad reviewers felt. However, I have to say, though I can understand their feelings, I am sorry those reviewers did not give AAR a second chance. Yes - there were times when I had to call to reschedule because they were running late, or call to remind them about a part. However, I have had to wait for hours for TWC or Verizon (And not have them show up!) and call doctors to remind them about test results, too. It happens; the question is how does the company handle it. I agree, they do need to work on communication, including if there are delays. However, the one thing I always know about AAR is that they try their best. (They need to hire more help!) They do not rush through any job, and they won't know how long it takes until they get there. They will prioritize emergency cases (like leaking and flooding). Prince's dedication and expertise in appliances is outstanding. When my washing machine broke, my super was going to try to repair it. Prince was the one who found it was a defect in the original manufacturing. A part had come loose on the motherboard of the control panel and he soldered it back into place. It was a tiny thing that no one would have guessed or seen immediately. But, he was thorough, took his time and narrowed down the issue. Prince goes above and beyond. (He even fixed my vacuum!) These guys work hard, their prices are fair and they are a lovely team of people. I highly recommend giving them a chance! I don't write reviews often, but AAR deserves my time and my praise. read more
