Responsive and reliable during problem with fridge and extended life of fridge another twenty years after apartment maintenance

I called Aaron's when the freezer drawer of my Sub Zero 650 iced up. They provided the necessary insurance certificate for my building and came the day after my building approved it. Mike was extemely professional, friendly, and wore a mask. It turned out nothing was broken - something had prevented the drawer from fully closing. He ended up using a hairdryer to clear off the ice and make sure that was the only issue. When inspecting the rest of the unit, he tried to turn it off and back on using the buttons inside the top of the refrigerator. They were lit up, but none of the control buttons were working. I needed a new panel, a fairly pricy part that had to be ordered. Mike explained everything and showed me what wasn't working properly. I always had trouble with my ice maker, but I thought It was due to a plastic piece that was missing from the arm - it was like that when I purchased my apt. I manually turned it off and on instead of using the control panel button. Mike made sure to order the replacement plastic piece (inexpensive item) in addition to the panel. They called me when the parts came in and arrived later that same day to install everything. I trusted Mike based on our initial meeting, so I had my doormen let him into my apt. even though I wasn't home. He fixed everything and my apartment was otherwise untouched. It's now been a couple of months and everything continues to be working perfectly. I've had other repairmen in my apt. from other companies to fix my Viking stove that weren't even 10% as professional or communicative as Mike. I will absolutely use them from now on. Highly recommend! One last note: the insurance certificate they provided to my management company said "Fridge Fix LLC" not Aaron's Refrigeration. Updated review 11/30/2020 My subzero fridge started making a strange rumbly fan noise. I called Aaron's business to fix it. The first 2 visits by the same technician (Joe) made things worse (my fridge didn't get cold for a week, I had to buy ice packs and use it like a cooler). The second 2 visits by a different technician (Ernesto) fixed the core issue & what was caused by the first tech. Overall a nice family owned business who would make things right eventually, but would have been a 5 star experience had they taken more time and care during the first visit and fix the right problem or leverage their experience and wait for the right parts to arrive before doing anything. read more

The two times I have called, the company has been responsive and offered a solution to my refrigeration needs. One time was for the Sub fridge and the other time was for a wine fridge. The service technician came at a timely manner and offered options as far as what needed to be fixed as well as the cost. After going with a different company initially which never repaired the issue and gave me the run around in coming back to repair the issue (for 3x what it cost me) Aaron's team was able to come in same day and fix our fridge in a very short time. My SubZero freezer was not cold anymore and I tried vacuuming the area and even defrosting the freezer incase there was ice buildup. It was finally time to call the professionals. I called Aaron after I felt I was getting my leg pulled by another company. He was upfront and honest over the phone and informed me that my suspicions were probably right, but they needed to come out and take a look for themselves. I'm so glad I did. What was going to cost $890.00 for some new parts that didn't need to be replaced, ended up costing the $150.00 service charge. The technician, Joe, told me the coils just needed to be cleaned, while the previous company claimed I needed a "condenser drive system" and a "start compressor assembly". In my experience with appliance repair shops, they refuse to give a ball park estimate of how much repairs might cost. Instead they say you have to pay for an inspection.Not the case here. I have an under the counter fridge that stopped working. Suspected that it needs a new compressor and the person who spoke to me gave me an estimate on how much it would cost to replace--which turns out to be more than a new product. My 6 y.o. Subzero refrigerator developed a funny humming noise and I freaked out (knowing how much a Subzero repair can cost from previous painful experience). Based on other reviews, I called these guys (at 10:00 AM) and was told they would try to have someone at my apt. by 12:30. At 12:00, I received a call from Joe, telling me he was on his way, which I really appreciated. When he arrived, just shortly after his ETA, he took his shoes off at the door and stepped into the kitchen to diagnose my fridge. He did a cleaning, gave me some helpful suggestions and charged me what I think was a fair price (for Manhattan and especially considering the speedy service). So, based on this experience, I agree with all of the other recent reviewers who raved about this company's service. It is now my go-to if I need service or repair work. I'm really disappointed with Aaron's. I went with them as opposed to the Viking service repair people because of all of the reviews. I spoke with them on the phone on a Monday morning and was relieved that they could send a technician the same day. The ice maker on a Viking fridge wasn't working, and I was hoping to get it repaired same day. The technician came, within 2 minutes he told us that it was because the filter needed to be changed. ("9 out of 10 times it's the filter.") He said that I should order a filter, and left. He charged $125 for the service fee, which the guy on the phone did not inform me of. I wasn't going to argue with the repairman because there's usually nothing they can do about it, but when I called the next day, the guy didn't even hear me out. I said - couldn't this have been suggested on the phone? He said no and the service fee is the service fee. He was very curt - maybe because on the phone I don't seem like a threatening enough customer? Anyway - the worst part is that the filter did NOT fix the problem. The only place to get these filters is directly from Viking so we didn't get that until Friday. And now, a week later, we need to bring in another repairman (and pay again) when this could've been dealt with a week earlier if they had been more thorough. Or at the very least, it could've been no harm no foul had they been willing to hear me out. Super super disappointed. read more

We almost got scammed by another company with a similar name (always do a website and phone number check: these guys are impossible to track down and review BTW, they have a 24/7 service website but the company's name keeps changing): the posers came, unplugged the light behind the board and told us some muffled story about the computer being messed up, and that we needed to pay more than 3k upfront to fix the problem. Told them I needed time to decide and called Aaron: he sent Mike who came the same day, replugged the board, fixed the real problem (ice buildup in the freezer), checked the whole thing to make sure the previous guys didn't damage anything and then charged us only the service fee. I couldn't be happier with the service, and with the fact that we still have 3k in the bank. read more

No need to name them as they already received poor reviews. I liked what I read about SubZeroSpecialists and called them. I was terrified at the possibility to spent 10k+ to replace my circa 2002 Sub-zero (model 611, its current equivalent has a diff name but basically it's the 30 inch top fridge bottom freezer in SS steel finish). Freezer was fine but the fridge part couldn't maintain a constant 38 degrees. Just making sure the service flashing light is correct, I put a fridge thermometer and indeed it's too warm. Stopped buying fresh perishables like wild Dover sole lol. Called Aaron's and they sent MIKE B, who was was very professional and explained everything he was doing as he went through the process to find the cause, so I learned something too. So thankfully it's not the compressor but leakage of freon. So he offered 2 solutions, one is a band aid so I can use it for now and think about whether to do a permanent part replacement. And the bandaid would be fine for several months but he clearly reminds if in 30 days I decide to do the permanent fix his service would be deducted from the total. I was thoroughly informed and yes the bandaid works great but I decided to replace it within 30 days and basically get the bandaid fix free. So, Mike B returned and replaced the leaking part. He's so professional and honest and communicated so well what is wrong and options I have. Thoroughly professional including calling ahead of time to let me know when he will arrive. 10,000 bucks averted. Every unit in this condo was fitted with the sub zero and the kitchen design is tight I can't get a thicker normal fridge there. Man they really are that expensive! So I live in CA and I have a 22 yr old sub zero fridge. Over the past few months I've tried to solve my ice buildup problem. I found Aaron's website with a bunch of videos and after trying a couple of repairs, changing seals, etc, I found it was not that hard with the right explanations. But when I came to the end of my expertise by searching for a solution I decided to email him for advice. He had nothing to gain but was kind and gave me the instruction I needed to finally fix the ice dam problem. 3000 miles away. AARON'S came to the rescue! Before calling Aaron's, I was frustrated that The Appliance Doctor estimated $750.00 in parts and labor for my freezer's ice maker arm to be replaced. [Appliance Doctor said that when the plastic arm breaks, it usually wrecks the motor too....and that I should therefore get the entire ice maker replaced.] This is nonsense! It sounded fishy, so I decided to call Aaron's (a friend recommended them). Aaron's arrived on time, with the right part, replaced it and was done in 20 minutes. Terrific experience with these guys! I dreaded calling a repairman in to fix my old subzero undercounter fridge. The last time my old subzero went on fritz, another repairman suggested to just buy a new one... Not this time! First of all, I sent an online form in requesting an appt. I kid you not, within moments Aaron called me directly to set up an appt! Unheard of service. Second, with my brief phone description of the problem, he explained that it might be a simple malfunctioning thermostat... no new three thousand fridge needed. These guys are honest. I thought I needed a new fan but we caught it on time and only needed a cleaning behind the grille. Since I was stuck paying the 150 min, the tech cleaned my wine fridge too and spend a bit of time teaching me how to keep my 10 yr old fridges running well and what signs of trouble to look for in the next few years. In a city where there are many refrigeration repair services, especially for Sub-Zero, I was extremely fortunate to find Aarons Refridgeration. We have a Sub-Zero freezer/ fridge from 1983-1985? The light defuser panel for the freezer broke. I called Aaron and he explained to me that it was not very likely that he could find a replacement part due to the age of the unit. That was 8 weeks ago - then yesterday, 7/5/17 -- he called and he had found the part we needed and said that he would drop it by the next time he was in the area. Service such as Aaron's is quite rare nowadays, and we are most appreciative of his kind and professional service. Very happy with this family-owned professional service. I first called L&J, the "factory-certified" service techs recommended by L&J and was not impressed for several reasons: 1. They charge a service fee of $175 just to look at/diagnose the issue. 2. The service fee of $175 isn't credited against any subsequent work undertaken. 3. Customer Service at Sub-Zero pinpointed the issue I was having just by me describing it. Note that this is no substitute for a visual inspection - but SubZero Specialists did this without a fee. 4. L&J said the cost would be "$1500 and up" with a likelihood of about $2000. 5. The next appointment was 4 days after my call. 6. It appears that Sub-Zero only approves one "factory-certified" service company per territory. So, when I called the "factory-certified" tech in Long Island, NY, the said they could service Queens, but not Manhattan. The Sub-Zero tech service for Westchester, NY could only cover Brooklyn, but not Manhattan. So these companies have carved out their territories. How about more competition, Sub-Zero?? Why not approve more than one "factory-certified" service per territory? This would benefit the consumer. 6. SubZero Specialists have been in business for many years and have tried to obtain Sub-Zero's "factory-certified" status but have been denied for unspecified reasons. So much for L&J. Sub-Zero Specialists were a delight to deal with. You speak to the owner, Aaron, who is very patient and thorough. He explains all the options and builds trust. He agreed with Sub-Zero's assessment and have me an all-inclusive quote immediately (without a service fee). He sent Mike, the service tech, the next day after arranging a certificate of insurance needed by my co-op. Mike was on time, very pleasant and undertook the work efficiently within 2 hours. The fridge now works fine. I highly recommend SubZeroSpecialists. Responsive. Professional. Trustworthy. Reasonably priced. read more
