(1) The staff are excellent now, and (2) the optometrist (Dr Cristallo) is absolutely superb -- it is VERY hard to find an optometrist this good. He works hard to refine my vision prescription to the smallest detail. Absolute commitment. (3) Their anti-glare coating used to have too much of a yellow tint, reducing the blue in a beautiful blue sky! - but they fixed that now, in my opinion. (4) Overall selection of eyeglasses is fairly standard, not fashion-forward like some other places, which is FINE for me. One staff member (Meli) has an incredible eye for choosing eyeglass frame, and is particularly great to work with. (5) Prices are very competitive. This is my 3rd time coming here and they don't honor any coupon but there own ...go figure.. They charge for everything scratch proof, shave down, two different kind of glasses, bi-focal, computer...I guess I'm satisfied got what I came for, 2 pairs for 95 plus price for glasses. My 10% discount was messed up but received eye solution kit for free...so there is the 10% discount I guess. I won't have to go back till 2028/9. read more

I recently went here for an eye exam since I was starting to feel some discomfort with computer screens. The process was smooth, and the exam confirmed I needed glasses. When it came time to go over insurance coverage and costs, Milly was fantastic. She was professional, knowledgeable, and patient in explaining my copays, benefits, and the timeline for my order. I ended up ordering glasses from the brand PAIR with two magnetic toppers. My only suggestion for improvement would be their text alert system. I kept getting messages that my order was "ready," but in reality only the glasses had arrived, not the toppers. They did give me the option to pick up the glasses and return later for the toppers, but honestly, even though I live nearby, no one really wants to make two trips. Once the full order was ready, Emily helped me with pickup. She was quick, friendly, and even printed out a card so I could practice my reading with my progressive lenses, such a thoughtful touch that made the process easier. Overall, I had a very good experience here. Milly is the first person you see upon entering. She's wonderful. Dr.'s are patient and informative. Large selection of frames to choose from. They do need to get smaller frames in though. Not everyone wants their glasses to take up so much FACE SPACE. Also, glasses should really come with a case and cloth. Cloth's have been out for quite a while now. So when?? I never write reviews but after having been condescended to by a doctor half my age, I feel the need to. This doctor refused to refill my contact lens prescription because of an eye infection I experienced over two decades ago. In the intervening tears, half a dozen different optometrists have prescribed lenses for me! I answered her questions honestly -- as I always have with every doctor-- and said that I learned a hard lesson from that experience and that with the exception of the extremely rare occasion (perhaps 1-2 x per year), I never fall asleep in them. She treated me like some sort of fraud trying to get one over on her!! She said repeatedly that she had to "protect herself," because if anything happens, "it's on her." Sounds like prior malpractice issues, perhaps? I never write reviews but I am appalled enough by this experience to warn people away from this place! I will stick with 1-800-contacts.com; there, provided you do not have diabetes or other medical disorders that affect eye health and if you have a recently expired prescription, you can do your eye exam right online and they'll ship over night! read more

long story short i needed a second opinion for my eye diagnosis. i went to an establishment off an internet ad (Zodoc) and they charged me over 200$ for an exam and lenses with out no frames their cheapest frames was 325$ i told them never mind and walked out. when i told my friend about this he was appalled said he knew someone who worked in that field and he was going to ask if they can give me a second opinion. i went to the America best on 255th street. borderline Bronx / Manhattan and once upon arrival she welcomed me and explained that since i already had an exam she would just need the prescription and for me to pick out the glasses they had many sections for affordable glasses 2 for 70 then 2 for 125 then the designer section that was ranging from 125-200$ this place was more Reliable then the other spot i went to. i went with 1 pair of glasses for 70 and one designer pair that when i used my insurance it totaled to 130$ i was shocked and amazed how affordable it was and was happy with the service they provided. i want to shoutout Milly and her staff for making my experience A1 from the moment i walked in, reassuring me on my decision to the second opinion, and to when i received my glasses. the whole process was flawless and they should get recognized for this work. i was about to spend over 500$ at Eyes On Second ave and with me getting a second opinion it saved me over 300$. read more

Absolutely horrible experience here. I went for a contact lens prescription appointment . No customer service experience here. The staff were rude. The doctor wore political buttons al over her coat, which seemed very inappropriate. I was told to return for three separate appointments until they had a pair of contacts that fitted comfortably. I enjoyed getting my glasses at this location but unfortunately, the site manager is no longer working at this location. The staff at the front desk does not seem like they know what they are doing when comes to insurance and is very lack and not helpful. Every time I have called to see if my glasses are ready they either leave me on hold for a long time or ask me the same question over again. I am specific with what I want but they still get asked if I am inquiring about contacts or glasses. My glasses were shipped on Friday but I am still waiting it has been over 10 business days. read more

High pressure disingenuous sales tactics. I had $500 OTC card to use. I was lied about my insurance. My insurance company said that they do accept my plan. The $525.00 initially quoted as reduced to my limit when I balked at the the amount. I asked her to print out the specifics for me. The manager Martha or said she had no printer- although I could see it. My prescription and bill were printed on it. I reduced my order and she made me wait while attending other customers and doing busy work. She noted my obvious disappointment mistaking it for anger. I have $150.00 that I will spend elsewhere. I was going to buy contact lenses there-but cannot trust them. 3 separate like-confrontations occurred while I was there. The constant Spanish speaking when everyone spoke English is rude and unprofessional. I will complain to the Corporation, however I sensed the bottom line is a commission incentive. I traveled from Lower Manhattan to the Bronx to get glasses there. I am so happy I did. The doctor, Dr. Kim, was excellent, patient and helped me get the right prescription. I had to go back for an adjustment and everyone was very helpful. They also have a great array of glasses at reasonable prices. I highly recommend them and they are close to the #1 train stop. I recently picked up my latest glasses and felt like I should write a review due to the exemplary help I received. Sales associate CHRISTY was kind and helpful.
