We let them know from the beginning that we had a coupon we were using. An eye exam was performed and glasses were chosen but when we went to pay they said they wouldn't accept it. The staff there was inattentive, unhelpful, and poorly communicative, which left us frustrated and unhappy. We were especially disappointed with how the situation was handled, and we left feeling like our time had been wasted. Thankfully, we were then sent to the 43rd Avenue & Thunderbird location, and the experience was completely different -- truly night and day. Arian and Charlene were absolutely outstanding. From the moment we walked in, they were welcoming, accommodating, and genuinely kind. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions, and made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. We actually had a great time picking out glasses and chatting with them -- something we never expected after how upset we were from the first visit. Their professionalism, patience, and positive attitudes completely turned the situation around and restored our confidence in America's Best. This location shows what excellent customer service really looks like. If you're considering America's Best, skip Christown and go straight to the 35th & Thunderbird location -- and if you can, ask for Arian and Charlene. This was one of the worst experiences I've had at this facility. I had an appointment , expecting a professional and courteous interaction. Instead, I was treated like a burden from the moment I walked in. The staff did not smile or welcome me, and the saleswoman who consulted me on pricing was particularly rude. She gave me dismissive looks, side-eyed me and make me feel like I didn't belong there. When I tried to discuss the price before my exam. She asked if I wanted to keep my appointment, which makes me feel like I was being pushed to leave I had an appointment and yet they acted like I were wasting their time. I have had nothing but grief since I bought glasses at America's Best. The lenses don't fit in the frame properly. I had to go in to have them fixed. Then I was told it was too late to do anything for me because it was over 30 days. I said I had purchased the warranty and was told that is only if they break. I considered breaking them. I am basically homebound and it is very difficult for me to get out. They refused to help with my glasses in any way. NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more

My man and I went in to get an item for the solar eclipse which is once in a lifetime event. They charge $16 for 4 pair of eclipse sun glasses. We only needed 2. So we ask could we buy it at half price since the eclipse was happening soon. The manager on duty today refused to bend or make a customer happy in order to experience a once in a lifetime event. Mind you every one was sold out or out of the freebies period. We ask if we could pay half price since 1. It's only 2 of us and 2. The eclipse was happening soon. She refused to make arrangements just for paper glasses she was going to throw away. Let alone no longer sale. Some ppl take their job too seriously. If she was able to ware my shoes at the moment she would of done the same and try to negotiate a price for a short time. read more

Such a hassle just to get your eyeglass prescription on paper without buying their glasses. After several phone calls and two trips, I finally resorted to having them mail it to me. Such a waste of time on the phone and taking time out of my day to drive down there only for them to keep giving me the wrong prescription. I do not recommend this location. read more

This place basically holds your prescription hostage. They check your eyes, and the optometrist is great and very efficient, but then they make you come back to have the doctor look at the contact in your eye and refuse to give you your prescription until you come back twice after that - once to pick up the contacts they hawk and then to look at them in your eye. You end up spending hours of your life there between the waiting room, the process of ordering the contacts, and the multiple appointments. Worse than the stereotype for car salesmen. read more

The eye Doctor I saw was pretty good, but the company itself and some of the employees lie a lot. One told me I could save some money if I used my old frames ( which I got from them the year previous). But when I brought them in, the person waiting on me told me it cost more if I don't buy new ones. Lady up front was very short with people ( maybe just a bad day for her, but then she should have stayed home. So far I've only went for an exam and to pick out my glasses and for a follow up appointment for my Contacts. My experience with Dr. McAuliffe was excellent, he is very professional, knew his stuff and took time to answer all my questions. My experience picking out frames was fantastic! Hands down the best experience I've ever had in an eyeglass store. Lillie, was the sweetest lady you could imagine. Very down to earth and patient. Incredible, customer service from her. She too the time to even teach me about the measurements that frames use. Very knowledgeable. I have no problems with the rest of the staff. But I could see how some people think the receptionist might come off as a little rude to some. The other staff member's were all younger women, there that are probably newer and weren't really able to answer any questions but referred me to Lillie who seemed to have all the answers! Overall I've had a fantastic experience. I'll post an update when I get my glasses, on how that goes. read more

I have had the worst experience at this establishment recently. I have gotten my contacts here plenty of times and I have had no issues until it came time to get my glasses. I upgraded my lenses and paid good money for high index lenses only for my frames to come in wide open. The worker there added so much heat to my lenses that the lenses cracked. Both of them! I had to get a new pair of lenses once again. I had already gone 10 days without my glasses and they wanted to take my frames again and so I refused. My second pair of lenses came in 10 days later even after asking to see if a rush could be put on the order since I was going out of town for 2 weeks, and they never came before I left, and when I came to pick them up no one in the optometry office wanted to put them in because apparently they were difficult to put in and only the office manager was able to do so. It has been a super frustrating experience with my glasses. read more

Great customer service. Francis was very helpful on finding me good pairs of glasses that match my style. Recently I accidentally laid on my glasses after leaving them on my bed and broke them. I was upset I would not find the same pair as they have been my favorite pair to date. Francis was able to find them and get them shipped out to me. read more

I have been with America's Best for over 15 years, from Georgia to Arizona. I have never had a problem before now. Dr. Matthew Lopez is the rudeness doctor I have ever encountered, EVER! He was extremely dismissive throughout my appointment. When I approached the assistant store manager, she spoke with him and I heard him laughing at me and dismissing my concerns, again. Dr. Matthew Lopez showed no concern for me as a patient or a human being. Neither one of them went into a room to speak privately. When she walked around the half wall, I looked at her and stated that I could hear everything he just said and that he had no right to laugh at me. I have been going to an eye doctor longer than he has been an eye doctor. I was told the store manager or business manager would contact me the next day...never happened. It has now been 12 days. I don't even know where to start. Horrible, misinformed staff. The eye doctor seemed nice so I'll exclude him from this review. The other staff were just terrible.. I just had my eye exam 2 months ago in Colorado purchased the 3- year deal. They gave me a sample pair -didn't like it.. issued another trial pair but I didn't get it before leaving Colorado. I get in here they're trying to do another eye exam I reiterate I just got a eye exam and just need another trial pair.. she says they can't without paying for another eye exam 79$ how does that make any sense? So I leave frustrated and call the Colorado America's best, she says they should give me a trial pair to the other contacts, none of it should be a problem and another eye exam isn't necessary.. then she sends the trial pair to me... stay away from this America's best they have no idea what they're doing. A generally good experience at this location. I registered online, made an appointment for an eye exam. I could have selected an appointment for the next day since it was available, but I chose an appointment on a morning I was off a few days later. I received a text confirmation of my appointment time the day before, and was able to confirm with just a text reply. I walked in, filled out a bit of medical history, and I was seen 10 minutes later. The doctor was very friendly, and knowledgeable. I've been to plenty of eye exams in my life and this doctor missed nothing. He was very efficient and quick, as you would expect from any high volume store with good prices. The eye exam was administered effectively and I was in and out of the exam in 10 minutes. Once that was completed, I proceeded to wait for a salesperson to talk to me about frames. I was there for the 2 pairs for $69.99 deal, and they had many frames to choose from. I chose two very nice pairs and was told 7-10 days for completion. I was in and out in 45 minutes. All in all, I was happy with the service and cost of this location 4 stars! read more

This place sucks! They ended up giving me 2 of the same pair when I ordered 2 different pairs. I took the one pair home and had to drive back after realizing they were scratched! The manager ended up telling me it was her employee who scratched them by leaving them in the heating machine too long. I even confronted the employee who was outside smoking who just denied it and said she'll have a talk with her boss. They had one job and managed to screw it up multiple times! The manager didn't really seem very sympathetic and more just wanted me to get out. Just said sorry a couple times. Low effort. Now I have to wait 2 weeks AGAIN and hope they don't mess it up a third time. read more

Everyone was polite and professional. The whole Americas Best team ROCKS at this store. I used my vision insurance, and got 2 sets of glasses WITH high index polycarbonate/progressive lenses, scratch resistant /UV/ premium anti-reflective coating, the verilite package, & a 1 year protection plan for my glasses for under $246. Honestly, I'm not one to leave bad reviews but I had a horrible experience here. 1) when the exam begun I placed my eyes on the machine and they immediately began to burn. I could tell they just wiped it down and it was still wet and the doctor sort of looked away and didn't speak on it. 2) after the exam, the doctor explained my eye sight changed significantly. I urged him to renew my old prescription as this has been working wonders with me. He completely refused! I also explained that in the past I've had eye prescriptions where both eyes were different and this has caused me to have horrible migraines... he said " well that's something you're going to have to get used to". I walked right out and didn't pay a dime! Go to Walmart. Their fast, efficient, and listen to your requests! read more

Soooooo...I got a story to tell. Went to America's Best (eye wear). Back in March (pre-pandemic). Having wore glasses for years now..my vision was not good with the new specs. I went back about a month ago to get my glasses checked. I was rushed in, and out. Actually while waiting to be seen the doctors was in the exam chair on his phone. He received my file from the assistant, gets up and calls me in (no cleaning of chair, after getting up) I'm no germ-a-phob so its cool. He does two quick checks and says "Nope all is well, just probably need adjustment on the frames. I am then told by another person I" just need to wear them so my eyes can adjust"(its been 3 months?). So a couple weeks and I still can't focus on anything on my screen. Irritated, and pist now I decide to see if I can go to another location(on Bell in Glendale, Az) . I make another appointment due to my dissatisfaction with the other store. Welp lucky me...I get an amazing doctor who is VERY THOROUGH and says "yes your prescription was wrong", and he show me what I have on my eyes now, and what I should have. I'm surprised I haven't walked into any walls yet. I honestly feel like raising hell with the other place..but I'm gonna take the Higher Road....and just kick some lyrics on YELP! I have used other America's Best locations for years and never had an issue. I moved across town so went to the one on 35th Ave/Thunderbird. Getting in wasn't a problem, they quickly got me an appointment for my yearly eye exam. The Dr who did my exam did a very short exam. I am used to being asked several times if #1 or #2 looks better. Usually multiple times per eye then multiple times for both eyes together. The Dr asked me a total of 2 times all together. Gave me my prescription which I asked about because it seemed to go real high and hasn't been changing for years. He said that's what it was, so I ordered my year supply of contacts. When they came in, I put the new ones in and I couldn't even read a book. I couldn't see the road signs, everything was blurry. I called Americas Best back and they scheduled me an appointment the next day. I explained to the Dr who was there this time the situation. He told me to go get readers. I explained my old contacts were fine and I didn't have this issue. That I can read up close without any contacts in or glasses on. That even the street signs are blurry. He wouldn't even recheck my eyes to make sure the prescription was right. Told me to come back in 6months and they would recheck them. So now, I am stuck with contacts that are not even the right prescription. I paid over $525 for my contacts that they prescribed the wrong prescription and I'm left with out even them rechecking my eye. I would not refer anyone to them. I definitely will not be going back in 6months. read more

i know covid is going on, but come in!!!! i feel asleep with my glasses in and they are terrible. they refused to adjust them for me!!! one person who had a mask on!!! they will not get my business when all this is over!!! OH GET THIS, I call them to get a copy of my prescription they cannot give it to me because it is expired!! But they can help me look for a but new glasses. So let's review, they can't get close enough to adjust my glasses and I am wearing a mask, but they can allow me in to spend money and get new glasses which requires them to get close enough for me to actually mark where my pupil is in the glasses. Came here for an eye exam and to consult about ordering contacts.The doctor was great and I have no complaints there. However, after the appointment a had a gentleman "help" me that had absolutely no idea what he was doing and just kept saying he was as new as my prescription. Ok, after maintaining over 30 minutes of patience, his "help" came over and was very short with him and then accused me of not wanting to pay for my exam because I wouldn't join their club... Excuse me? Then I was trying to book a contact class and he said, I have to be honest I have no idea how to do this. Honestly, I was very patient but after much frustration I paid for my eye exam and took my business elsewhere. They lost a client here that went and paid 450$ at LensCrafters an hour later. Hopefully they learn to train their employees and treat people with respect whether they join their "eyeglass club" or not. read more

She made sarcastic and snarky remarks after they messed up the prescription. When I walked in there it just oozed of people who hated their jobs and didn't care to pretend otherwise. Let me start off by saying that I usually go to the America's best on Tatum and Thunderbird and haven't had any issues. Unfortunately that location was booked so I decided to check this location out. That was a very bad decision. I was examined by Matthew Lopez and I strongly suggest you avoid him at all costs. He did not talk to me during the exam and spent 5 minutes examining my eyes. I received my contacts fairly quickly and noticed that they felt off so I stopped using them and decided to wait until my glasses came in. When I was given my new glasses I knew right away that my prescription was off. I told the receptionist but she told me that it will take about a week or so to get used to them. I was super confused because my prescription was fine on the original glasses I had but needed to replace them because they had cracked. I decided to give them a shot and left. That same day I arrived back after testing them out and spoke with the manager. She had every excuse in the book as to why my glasses were fine. She even told me that she doesn't recommend wearing glasses while driving (isn't that the point of glasses?). She told me my glasses needed to be flattened which didn't help matters except it did pop the lens out of them. I was told to call back in a few days. It's worth noting that I had a person both to the left and right of me complaining about their prescription as well. One person repeatedly stated how blurry it was and the manager suggested that adjusting the nose pad would be the solution. I will never return to the place and I urge people to not be seen by Matthew Lopez. The very point of getting glasses is to see clearly not get sold a pair of glasses that actually make your vision worse which is what they say I will "get used to in a week or so". Upon discussing this issue with a different America's best location they informed me that that eye doctor likes to make people's prescriptions very strong. As if he has a choice in how strong peoples lenses should be. He should not have a license and I have $500 worth of unusable glasses to show for it. Do not trust this location. read more

Gave my girlfriend the wrong prescription twice and she had headaches almost everyday. We went to the America's best on Yorkshire by AMC theater and they said she had the wrong prescription and had to do more tests. This location on thunderbird is terrible. Having a need for good, low-cost eye wear has become a priority for my family as not only do I require glasses, but so does my daughter. Not knowing the differences in eye-wear providers, a year earlier I sought the aid of another - more expensive, and albeit good doctor - only to find that as time had passed, my eyes, as well as my daughters eyes had deteriorated significantly. With that in mind, I chose to seek out a more economical source considering we would be making this part of our yearly routine. From the moment we made our appointments, America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses not only welcomed us, they made us feel comfortable and positive we had made the right choice. Upon arrival, they took some information and showed us to the waiting room where we would meet with the doctor. The experience with said doctor was pleasant and informative, and allowed us to make decisions about further testing for a nominal fee. Once we were finished we were shown to the showroom where we chose to purchase two pairs of glasses each. Once ordered, the time frame in which we received our eye wear was expeditious, and the service was great. We left there feeling that we had, indeed, made the right decision. If your in the market for inexpensive eyeglasses, this is the place to go. With their one year warranty and walk-in service, you won't regret having made the choice. read more

If I could give this horrific place a -10 star I would. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!! First the exam was a joke. I spent less than 5 minutes with the eye doctor. He barely spoke to me & when he did he was rude & condescending. I've worn contacts since I was in fourth grade. I'm now 48 years old & I know & understand my eye prescription. My prescription has not changed in over 15 years yet he claimed my astigmatism had gotten worse. He refused to prescribe air optix color monthly contacts to me stating "they don't make them in your strength". My RX went from a -7.50 to -6.0. I knew for a fact that -6.0 was a valid RX for Air Optix. After asking him SIX times he finally explained I needed a Toric contact for my astigmatism & torics do not come in colored contacts. This was an acceptable explanation yet I had to pry it out of him. He was the rudest person ever. The contact he put me in was horrible. I couldn't wear them longer than 4 hours without them clouding up or becoming dry & popping out. And my vision seemed worse with them in. I struggled to see things. I finally threw them out & went back to my old contact lenses which thankfully I still had 3 months worth. To make matters worse they lost my husband's glasses. It took almost a month to get his. They had to reorder them because they couldn't find where they were shipped to. They gave him an extra pair for free to make up for the inconvenience. Well guess what? His RX is jacked up too! He can no longer see distance. They issued him reading only glasses. So now he's blind as a bat when doing anything but reading. He has to wear his broken old glasses to see distance. We now have to spend money out of our pocket to get his RX redone & order new glasses since we exhausted our eye insurance on this joke of a place. Needless to say we are going back to our old doctor who was great, we just wanted to change it up to make sure we were getting the right level of care. Turns out we were getting excellent care. America's Best is the WORST!!!! I have told everyone I know how horrible they are & will make sure I continue to tell people to avoid them at ALL COSTS!!!! What a rip off! read more

I went here to try and save money being I don't have vision insurance. The glasses are slim picking and very low quality but regardless my exam was crap. My prescription was worse than before and I went back to have another exam which they said was fine. Just try to use them for a few more weeks they said. Anyway it never got better my old glasses were perfect and I got a refund. They almost didn't refund the actual exam but the manager was gracious enough to do so. I didn't see what paying for an exam that made my eyes worse seem fair. read more
