We got an estimate from Andersen (less the storm door). Their products and installation method were top-notch, but so was their estimated price! So we wanted something more economical. After some research we heard Milgard windows using an "retrofit" installation would be more in our price range. We also wanted a window/door-installation company that gave us a good price estimate (1/3 the cost of Andersen), was in our locale (Tri-Valley) , and had 5-star rating already. So we were happy to find Cal Coast that met those criteria. The initial estimate process was straightforward. Our estimator was friendly and efficient. The format of the estimate came in digital PDF format. It was easy to print, and the details and layout were very helpful with diagrams of what the windows and door would look like with dimensions. One measurement for one window was slightly off. I mentioned that to my estimator. He assured me that was not a problem because if I accepted their estimate, then the next step was for another technician would come out to the house to re-measure the windows more accurately and in more detail. We did accept the estimate, and indeed another technician came out to do detailed measurements. Then we received a revised and more detailed contract in that same great layout! The estimator kindly set our expectations that our windows and door were going to take 5-6 weeks to custom manufacture and about 1 to 2 days to install. Those timings were right on target, which helped us in planning other events in our life. Installation only took 1 day! The crew was great - courteous, hard working, and efficient. They put foam insulation in the space between our window frames and the new windows. The caulking work was professional. I was pleased. And the crew cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Another thing I was pleased with was Cal Coast's production manager helped me apply and get my city building permit for the new windows. The day of installation, the foreman handed me a nice folder with the printed permit with other instructions. I really appreciated that. Also after installation she worked with my city building department to schedule a final inspection by a city inspector. When the inspector came out, because the product and installation were superb, it passed with no problem. Of course, I paid a little more to have this permit processing service, but it was well worth it. Finally, as you can tell from this rather long review, I'm very pleased with our experience with Cal Coast and the Milgard products. I add my 5-star review to others that have gone before me for Cal Coast!

The 8 inch by 8 inch square beams were up to 20 feet long. The team was responsive, collaborative, professional, and reasonable on pricing and lead time. The quality of the work is fantastic. Other tradespersons on the remodel have been impressed with the craftsmanship and seamless appearance of the beams. Even though they are hollow, the 1 inch thick white oak is quite heavy at that length, and the team did an impressive job installing them using scaffolding and floor protection.

This started with placing an order over the phone on the 10/14 and was told there would be a 1 week turnaround. Well....2 weeks go by and no word. So I call back and they said "we were unable to take payment over the phone without written authorization the terms recently changed." They claimed calling but we have no voice mail or email from them. So I say ok send the authorization let's get this done. They say ok and that it will be rushed to be ready next day. so I send the details at 9:30 in the morning to start the order. They email at 3:30 pm to ask a question about the door. I respond but get no response back. Called the next morning he needed to wait for his specialist to confirm the door we had with the account from a previous order because he could not find it even though in our first call he did. So I was told an update would be sent later that day. Guess what?!? No update. So I called again the next morning (10/30) because you have to walk David through everything like a child because he can't seem to do it on his own. I also request to speak with a manager (I hate doing it but this was absurd) . David says the manager is with a customer but he will call you back. I called him out and asked "are you sure? Nobody else seems to follow through." He assured me he would. I then received the estimate, now with a week long turnaround instead of the expedited 1 day. David did call to confirm it was received. Told him I was still waiting on the manager call. 2 hours go by....no call. So I call again, manager is now out of the office. I'm told he will call. He didn't. 40 minutes left in the day I call again. Manager left for Costco. I get it Costco lines suck but not nearly as much as the service here.

Never knew about life time warranty until last month, one of the window cracked. We didn't have any receipt or anything, just an email we did 14 years ago. We just contacted the company on their website and amazingly, they have the record by the address. The service department was so helpful, they contacted us and contacted the manufacturer to set up appointment with the case number to get it replaced. The windows were replaced 14 years ago in one day and we had many custom sized windows. The amazing thing is they know exactly which window that cracked by us describing the location of the window. Anlin Delmar (Milgard) called us and setup the appointment. They came and replaced the windows in a few hours. It was amazing and we're extremely happy. Now we know, go with the best and reputable company like Custom Exteriors and a good manufacturer like Anlin Delmar to have after service years after the work is done.
