I've been in property management for a long while and have rarely come across such a poor team to work with. This started with placing an order over the phone on the 10/14 and was told there would be a 1 week turnaround. Well....2 weeks go by and no word. So I call back and they said "we were unable to take payment over the phone without written authorization the terms recently changed." They claimed calling but we have no voice mail or email from them. So I say ok send the authorization let's get this done. They say ok and that it will be rushed to be ready next day. so I send the details at 9:30 in the morning to start the order. They email at 3:30 pm to ask a question about the door. I respond but get no response back. Called the next morning he needed to wait for his specialist to confirm the door we had with the account from a previous order because he could not find it even though in our first call he did. So I was told an update would be sent later that day. Guess what?!? No update. So I called again the next morning (10/30) because you have to walk David through everything like a child because he can't seem to do it on his own. I also request to speak with a manager (I hate doing it but this was absurd) . David says the manager is with a customer but he will call you back. I called him out and asked "are you sure? Nobody else seems to follow through." He assured me he would. I then received the estimate, now with a week long turnaround instead of the expedited 1 day. David did call to confirm it was received. Told him I was still waiting on the manager call. 2 hours go by....no call. So I call again, manager is now out of the office. I'm told he will call. He didn't. 40 minutes left in the day I call again. Manager left for Costco. I get it Costco lines suck but not nearly as much as the service here. read more

These guys were ok but I wish I had other options. The customer service to schedule my service request was ok but the overall experience could have been better... I was misled with the lead time on when my door would be ready. It ended up being an additional week longer than what I was told. I wasn't getting anything special so I didn't understand the hold up. They told me to remove my current door and bring it in with all the knobs and latches still attached. When I went to get my new door they didn't apply my materials from the door I gave them like they advised me to. They said they had lost them and never told me to do that. Good thing I had photos and a note of who and when told me that info. They ended up giving me a knob and latches but they weren't the original color nor same style of knob I had on my original door. If you go here, don't expect your door to be ready on time and take off your hardware if you need it, regardless of what they say! read more

We ordered several doors from this company. Sadly to say, they were terrible with both efficiency and professionalism. Their first initial attempt at delivering doors was incomplete. Their second attempt at completing said order was also incomplete and they charged us a second delivery fee. When speaking on the phone with the sales rep they were extremely rude and argumentative with me and my foreman. The sales rep continued to deny any issues with the delivery however their driver stated in person that he also remembered the parts missing from the previous order. Even though the foreman and the delivery driver both told the sales rep over the phone that parts were missing the sales rep continued to deny the claim for missing parts. Upon calling back to inquire about said missing parts the same sales rep was extremely rude and refused to assist with issues of missing parts. We spent thousands of dollars for doors and received an incomplete order, extremely rude customer service, and lots of wasted time trying to prove that our order was incomplete. We are still waiting on a manager Rene to call us back. "I can't guarantee he will call you back today he is very busy." Sales rep quote. Avoid this company at all cost. Allen was very busy and flustered but actually pulled through and got us a high quality, custom made door for under $400. The lady at the front desk was very lazy and rude to me and my wife, but the warehouse guys were friendly when they helped load the door up. If you can be patient with the sales process and somewhat persistent, you will find that they offer very reasonable prices and a high quality product. We had a few minor issues (a wrong sized part) and Allen resolved right away. Just be prepared going into the building that the heavy woman at the front desk will be rude to the customer, and that the sales team is very busy. read more

I had to follow up on a daily basis to get answers to even minor questions. In the end, one of the doors was badly damaged. BEWARE! I spent thousands of dollars at San Leandro Door on my exterior doors and one interior glass pocket door. 7 years later the glass in the french doors became defective and after many calls and many promises someone would come out to inspect...it NEVER happened. Alan never followed up with my phone calls or emails and Rene did nothing until after the fact. I eventually had to have the defective glass replaced at my own expense, went back to Rene and they offered nothing and the doors were supposed to have a 10 year warranty. Later Rene informed me (after the glass was replaced) they would order new inserts (from the same defective manufacturer) but I would have to pick them up AND pay for the installation! (too late). BEWARE, they do not sell BRAND NAME products on everything, I found this out with MY doors. I will NEVER recommend them again ...BAD! BAD! BAD! read more

A few weeks ago, I spoke with Alan who arrived when he said he would. He took care of business, charged us the same as he quoted and has great customer service skills. He's a bit of a character and I always prefer that opposed to boring people who hate their jobs. One of our keys got stuck in the lock today, I called Alan up, he remembered us and would be there in 15 minutes. Fortunately, we were able to get the key out before he left to come out to our facility. He was helpful and personable on the phone, again. They did top notch work and their doors/locks are solid. I was told about SanLeandro door from someone at a home depot. I needed the door fast and it was a special order door. Gene is the persone I dealt with and as far as I am concerned he is serious about his work and wants to provide a superior product. Their timelines are not as tight as I would like, we did not get the door when we were suppossed to. The prices are really good for the items we bought. Gene is professional and though the rest of his staff are not the most warm and fuzzy guys on the block their work speaks for itself. if you want someone to hold your hand, jump when you say jump and promise to love you forever this is probablly not your company. Sadly, there is no Negative stars allowed! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Their customer service is HORRIBLE from the minute you walk in. Allen the sales rep. is completely INCOMPETENT not sure how he still has a job despite all the negative reviews I've read on Yelp. We took in 5 doors to have them replicated in measurements and 3 came back short, the other 2 we have yet to receive. We have emailed and called Allen, but no response. It wasn't until we called to complain of his incompetence that he finally called us back, but it wasn't to give us an update on the 2 remaining doors, but to rather tell us he didn't appreciate us calling this manager complaining of our frustrations. Don't be fooled by the competitive pricing (it's not even the lowest out there). I ordered a door from Allen that he said would be ready in 2-3 days. Over a week later, I emailed and asked what the status of the door was. He told me it would take another 3+ weeks, so I cancelled my order. I didn't receive any confirmation of my cancellation and it wasn't until I received my cc bill that I saw I was charged for the door as soon as I ordered, but never refunded for it. I had to contest with my credit card company and then someone from San Leandro door called to process the cancellation, almost 3 weeks after I had cancelled. read more

Just recently we had a hitch in our giddy up when one of his suppliers sent him doors that were going to an end use customer of mine. 24 of 36 custom cut and custom paint doors failed on site. Gene sent a crew to remove the failed doors. Brought me freshly milled replacement from another manufacturer for custom painting. Is picking them up today to re-install at my customer's site. Approximately 25% of our doors were ordered wrong and they took over 6 weeks to fix them. Not having a bathroom door for that long is ridiculous. NOOOOOOO. Dropped our doors off as samples for replacement doors and they had ONE MONTH to make up 7 doors as we were going out of town. As it was a "special order" we had to pay up front. BIG MISTAKE. Got back doors not even started. Alan said they didn't have bit. LAME EXCUSE. Still took another week and messed us up. Had to hire installer and then a painter to stain the doors. We would have done ourselves but on time constraints for an apartment complex. Loss of rent and also extra labor charges due to their inefficiency. Installer said DO NOT use them again. POOR WORKMANSHIP. Doors did not fit correctly thus costing us more $$ to have installer remedy. Wish I'd have looked at Yelp before we used this place. read more

As far as a quality product, San Leandro door is fine. But their customer service is truly God-awful -- at least for an individual homeowner. I approached the company (because the owner lives down the block) to install a new, finished front door. It wasn't cheap -- $3,000 -- but cost is not the issue. What irks me is that is took SIX MONTHS to install, despite numerous promises from the owner and/or the sales rep. of "next week." Then, when the door was finally installed, there was a small, but ugly defect -- a nail hole that was puttied but not stained, in a very visible spot.. Again, they promised to fix this -- and TWO MONTHS later, I'm still waiting -- once again despite cheery promises that "we'll get someone over there right away." In addition, I ordered a screen door as part of the project and they completely dropped the ball on that, too. It's odd really, as they are perfectly pleasant to deal with.
