I drove to Alpharetta, GA from CT to visit my mother and had warning lights come on half way (Roanoke, VA) indicating that my oil pressure was low. I put a quart of oil in and finished the drive. Then dropped my truck off at AMS the following morning. They had a heck of a time finding the leak, but ultimately did and made the repair...keeping to their original estimate despite the fact that I know they spent much more time than originally anticipated to identify and fix the problem. BEWARE! I've been a customer for years and had historically been very satisfied. Recently however, I have lost trust in them. Some things were small, committing a turn around time on vehicle and then once they had my car, learning there was a significant delay because they did not in fact have the parts they need. Most recently, I went in for a routine oil change. They called to say my car really needed new break pads and strut replacement, for a total charge of $4,000. I decided to take it to a new local (5 Star Rated) service station. They took their time showing me under the car, why I needed none of that suggested work. Owner of a BMW 540i. A blinking check engine light came up. Scared the crap out of me. Went in the shop, technicians diagnosed it. We ran out of time and we didn't found a certain cause to the problem(later it was agreed to be probably caused by the MHD and XHP tune I have on my car). They didn't charge me and told me to come back in the shop another day for them to look deeper into the vehicle. Came in another day, they looked at it. They didn't found anything obviously wrong, and didn't charge me again for the examination. Couple of thing outstanding about the shop: 1: They are HONEST in telling me that they found nothing broken. They did not try to talk me into any fix that my car does not actually require. 2: They showed RESPECT and understanding for people who mod their car. Some workshop will try to blame the owner and attribute the cause for any damage to the car to the mods that they have on their car, but they didn't. If you are an enthusiast, I would recommend you to come to this place. 3: VALUE. Examination fee was $125, much cheaper compared with another European repair shop at around $188 and another BMW dealer at above $200. If you go with their recommended fixes, they waive the examination fee for you. Nalley Decatur BMW doesn't waive. So if you are a fellow BMW owner, don't go to any BMW dealer around Atlanta because they suck. Global imports BMW as an exception though: my uncle regularly has his Alpina B7(fancy version of 7 series) serviced there. Only downside to global imports is that they are a bit on the costly side. Still leagues better than other BMW dealers. The other dealers are expensive and provide shit services. Nalley Decatur BMW tried to sell me a gas cap for $90 when I acquired it in Princeton BMW for $30 when I was at New Jersey. Also, would strongly recommend this place if your car is a BMW 40 series. That includes vehicles like 340,440,540,740, and such. A technician there owns an old 740i, so you can expect fair amount of expertise in the 40 series specifically. I would go to this place in the future for the majority of my services and I would update this thread on each and every visits. read more

Man at the front desk was polite and hospitable but the actual work that gets done here is quite laughable. I took my car in a few weeks ago because my engine was making my car shake as I drove. I waited an hour at the shop for them to misdiagnose the problem and tell me I needed to do an engine swap or sell my car for parts. He told me my rod bearings were coming apart and it would be worth more than the value of the car to fix. in reality, it was just the spark plugs that needed to be replaced. So, despite good service I won't be heading back to this mechanic. read more

I do not recommend this place at all!! It took them 6 hours to run a diagnostic. People were constantly telling me they would "check on it" and never did. They never apologized or anything. It took them forever* to tell me they need to order the part that will take 3-4 days to arrive! On top of that, HUGE ripoff!! The diagnostic costed $130. They tried to charge me over $1500 to fix an issue. I called a dealership, and they offered me $1100 to fix the issue including labor. I took my car in after it died on my way home from work. I knew it would be a pretty pricey repair and was nervous to try a new mechanic, being new to the area, I had no choice. Dean was very honest, efficient, and finished the repairs quickly. They shuttled me to work the day I brought in the car, and even cleaned and vacuumed my car when the repairs were completed. It was such a pleasant surprise! I will be using them indefinitely and trust Dean completely to give me a fair evaluation and preform high quality work. Our company trusted our fleet trucks to their care & keeping. We had two engines rebuilt. There were constant problems and the last issue was damage done by putting the truck up on a lift. The owner got rude and told us not to bring our trucks back. It is not our fault they rebuilt an engine and did things wrong. So many components kept failing and each time the mechanic would say "whoever did this repair messed this up". I was blown away that after so many service visits and so much business that we gave the shop that he would have such a temper that he would tell us to leave and not come back. I have been taking our main vehicle to them for routine servicing, oil changes, etc. They always tried to sell me expensive unnecessary additional services. Otherwise, no complaints. But today, I took a flat tire to them off my old 98 Dodge van and the manager refused to repair it even though the tech who inspected it told me he thought he could repair it. And, of course, the manager tried to sell me a new tire even though there is tons of tread left on the tire. I brought the tire back home and repaired it myself with a Monkey Grip plug. It is rolling and mainaining pressure. I am done with them after this experience. It is amazing to me that businesses don't realize that it is so much harder to get a new customer than to keep an existing one, which only requires that you not p**s them off! read more

Do not go here!! My car broke down and this was the closest mechanic to me so I had to be towed here and it was a huge mistake. My brother is a mechanic and he confirmed they charged TRIPLE the price the parts cost. His shop is in Kennesaw so I could not have my car towed that far and I had to get my car fixed ASAP so unfortunately America's service station was my only option. THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. I had my alternator and battery replaced and they charged me $833. Ridiculous. I told the mechanic at the front they are charging triple of what they should and he proceeded to tell me, "This is a business, you know." Bottom line: America's Service Station - Alpharetta has polite people, but the 60% upcharges for parts alone deterred me from ever getting my vehicle serviced with this company. I went in for a diagnostics, and discovered the water pump was leaking. I would have gotten America's Service Station (AMSS) to repair the same day, but I could not get over the cost for parts alone... I was quoted a combined cost of $215.00 for the Water Pump, Thermostat, and Gaskets. So, I did some research that same day, and found that the OEM parts for my 2007 Toyota Yaris was Significantly LESS than AMSS quoted price... The Combined cost for the MOST Expensive parts and best Brand Name was $90.00! I was upset at the upcharges AMSS hit me with. So my husband decided to replace the parts himself. We did not upgrade the parts for $90.00, but we simply replaced the parts with the OEM parts of like kind and quality. This cost us a combined $65.00 and labor was free :) Though AMSS was upfront about the cost of labor (over $300), which I would have paid for convenience... But I cannot bring myself to go back now that I know that they uncharged to an unrealistic and unreasonable amount. I would have given one star for the upcharges, but the customer service rep. was polite. And I would have given 3 stars because their shuttle service to and from work was convenient... Until they picked me up 30 minutes late do to miscommunication between the rep and the driver. read more

I was on my way to work in Alpharetta when I got a nail in my front tire. America's Service Station was the closest repair center and I could not have asked for a better experience. When I arrived, the owner refused to charge me for a tire plug and wouldn't even accept a $10 bill after the service was complete. They did a great job on the repair and best of all it was free. I highly recommend this place and can't thank the owner enough. Quick tip - during weekdays, the staff don't arrive until 11am, so plan your repairs around lunch time accordingly! read more

We took our car to 3 different places and none of them could believe you wouldn't fix this since you were responsible for threading the drain plug, it's not about life being short Dean, it's about doing the right thing. We brought our 5 cars to you and spent thousands of dollars through the years and never once complained even though we knew your prices were higher. I have to put in a plug for the great people at America's Service Station. My wife was out and about when the car battery died. She couldn't get it started with jumper cables and I couldn't come to her (not that it would have helped much!). I called them, they sent someone TO the car, got the battery going, got the car over to the shop, tested the battery (it was shot), got a new one in the car at a very reasonable price, and had her on the way. The whole thing took 1/2 hour. They said "We know you've got your kids with you; we will take care of this right away." It's great to know that the people you love are being well-served. My wife tried to give them a few bucks to buy lunch, but they refused, saying "This is just what we do." If you live anywhere in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Cumming, etc. please give them your business if you can. They have always been wonderful, but this is a whole new level. read more

America's Service Station in Alpharetta fraudulently used the Better Business Bureau (BBB) certification on their website to gain customers and customer's trust. The shop then greatly overcharged for services, and caused further damage to vehicle while performing service. Shop's 'clean' pre-sale inspection caused purchase a vehicle with costly issues. Strongly suggest going to an actual Better Business Bureau Accredited shop like "Roswell Auto Tech" or "Crabapple Automotive". read more

They are always honest with me, for example how much life I can get out of a part (water pump for example) before I really need to change it, also the signs I should watch out for, so I know when to bring it in. I decided to visit this shop for the first time today after some pretty great reviews and a good coupon to use for an inspection, oil change and tire rotation. I called at 9am and scheduled an appointment that was more convenient for them at 3pm. I come in at 3pm to ask for the service on the coupon. The guy at the desk says it'll be an hour before they can finish the car because they are running behind. I clarify...an hour before they finish--or an hour before they can start. With confidence, he says: an hour before they finish everything up. I say great! I come in the waiting room and get lost in stuff for work on my laptop when I realized a whole hour has gone by...and my car hasn't moved from when I pulled in to park. I go to the front desk. There was a black guy on the computer. I'm looking directly at him. He doesn't look up to acknowledge me. Doesn't greet me. Nothing. I'm literally face to face in front of this man, standing up on his computer. No acknowledgement. Which I found to be odd...and very rude. I get that he was probably the maintenance man...but do they not teach them to at least acknowledge the customer to tell them that someone will be with them in a minute??? Someone finally comes to the desk and says...my car will be next. They just pulled a car out of the way and mine is coming in next. It's now been 10 minutes...and my car still hasn't moved. After a full 30 additional minutes and my car still hasn't moved..I'm leaving an unsatisfied customer. read more

I came in here with a coupon for an oil change seasonal service from the mail. The same guy whose picture is on the coupon greeted me, im assuming he is the owner. I asked for an oil change and he smirked and said "not today youre not". I arrived there at 6:30, they close at 7. Very over priced, I found the filters they recommened for much less else where, long wait

I took my Honda Civic in because the coolant was leaking and they replaced the timing belt (necessary to replace the water pump which they said was the problem). Three days later I took it back because all of the coolant was gone again and the car wasn't running properly after they replaced the timing belt. The radiator had miraculously sprung a leak during that three days so they had to replace the radiator. I took it back one more time because the car was still not idling correctly and they insisted the timing was not the problem. Then I took it to another shop who said that the timing belt had not been installed correctly and I had to pay another $435 to correct it. I asked America's Service Station to reimburse me for that since I had already paid them about $1,250 to them to have my car fixed but they refused. DON'T EVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO THEM. read more

These people suck! My wife's car was overheating they said she needed a new water pump not radiator. Two days later after supposedly fixing it, started overheating again tooki it back, now it needs a new radiator. When the fixed the water pump the said it would be worthwhile to change timing belt. Totally screwed it up. My wife's car timing was all off. Took it back twice, said there was no issue with the timing belt. Took it to another mechanic who fixed the timing belt issue that America's service station caused in the first place. Thought they might do the honest thing and reimburse us for the cost to fix their mistake. But I should have known better . Terrible customer servcice from the mechanic to the owner. It's been over 10 years since a co-worker introduced me to Dean, the owner of America's Service Station. Since that time, I've trusted them with multiple cars and feel that their customer service is heads above the rest... bar none! Several times when the dealership tried to sell me on bogus charges, Dean's team gave me the factual information on what was wrong with my car and never tried to sell me a part or service that I didn't absolutely need. If the option to give zero stars was available that is the rating I'd submit based on three very negative experiences from Dean (the owner) and his staff at the Alpharetta location. In my opinion, I have never received worse customer service anywhere than I have at this business. I was ripped off not once, but three times (my opinion - based on refusal to honor warranty, being sold wrong parts as well as unnecessary & expensive services) by ASS (America's Service Station). To make matters worse, I felt I was also berated by Dean in front of another customer - who confirmed my perception by letting me know he'd also be taking his business elsewhere based on Dean's behaviour towards me. Fortunately one of ASS's competitors who had no obligation to do so, graciously offered to honor the warranty on the bad part that ASS (Dean) refused to honor. In my opinion you should NOT take your car to ASS, not even for a simple oil change. In my opinion, Dean is a misogynistic and greedy man who only cares about being right and his profit margin... certainly not his customers or any professional assessments provided by unbiased 3rd party experts. I called around before to find out how much the going rate was for a freon recharge and the range was from $130 to $230. I had this figure in my head before going into it. When I dropped my car off I saw this sigh that said freon recharge for $130...I took a mental note, and continued to tell the serviceman what was going on with my AC. They have a great service where if you need to go to an appt someone will give you a lift, I was super happy about this and when the car was ready they came and picked me up and all was great until they told me the price. He told me it was going to be $176.00 for the freon recharge and explained he gave me as many DISCOUNTS as possible...I turned to point to the sign and saw they TURNED IT AROUND. I let the manager know that the sign had been turned around and he informed me he had just gotten in for the day and knew nothing about it. They were trying to take advantage of me because I am younger and may not know my stuff when it comes to fair prices but he was sorely mistaken. I cannot go back there if I feel that they are going to deceive me to make an extra buck...makes me wonder what they are doing under the hood...BIG MISTAKE! read more
