This branch of America's tires is a scam. We took our car at 10:45 in the morning to get our tires rotated. Two agents were at the front desk but failed to greet customers as they walked inside. Instead they continued to look at their computer screens and ignore the ringing telephone. When we were finally helped the tech walked outside to inspect our tires. He scanned the tires with his handheld computer, which told him the tread dept of each tire. He advised us the front tread was low. Hence the reason we came in to rotate the tires. The rear tires had 8/32 which is very reasonable. The tech advised of increased chance of fish tailing when a car is driven with lower traction on the rear tires. It's a front wheel drive car and we are entering the summer months. This was a sales tactic to buy more tires. I declined and requested the rotation. He said okay and scheduled our appointment for 12:45pm. When we returned Issac checked us again and insisted he perform a safety check. I informed him it had already been done when we were checked in this morning. Once again a tactic to sell tires. He took the keys and said the car would be done within a hour. He shortly returned and started the front shoulder of the tire was low and he was unable to rotate the tires because they were out of spec. Not only did they not honor the free rotation but aggressively try to sell customers tires they don't need. I'm a commercial fleet manager and I'm very familiar with tread depth. If your tires are not perfect they will refuse to service your vehicle and pressure you to buy new tires. I heard them do this to countless other customers. All of my vehicles have manual tread depth gauges in the glove compartments, not a digital hand held device to intimidate less knowledgeable customers. read more

Have been a loyal America's Tire customer for over 10 years now for both of our family cars. Great prices and service - they even match Costco pricing! Had to mention my latest interaction this week and call out a great employee, Alex, who is the assistant manager. After a not-so-pleasant experience with another manager-type at that location (not mentioning names as I don't want to throw him under the bus!), Alex came in and literally saved the day. He was pleasant, patient, understanding, and helpful. Most of all, he made sure customer satisfaction was his top priority! My situation was a little complicated as it included a broken stud and stripped lug nuts. I had to visit a local mechanic that they recommended to get that changed first (on their dime!). Once that issue was resolved, I was able to go back to Americas Tire to get two new tires at a discounted rate (Pro Tip: the tire extended service warranty is worth every penny!) and my car safely driveable again. Will continue to use Americas Tire for all my tire needs. And have readily recommended them to hundreds of people, without hesitation! read more

Since the manager left this place has gone so downhill... With an appointment you still have to wait in the single line with people who walk in to do a planned service and want to wait. Very loud heavy metal music every time the service door opens. I am all for music, but as a customer I couldn't take a call in the center because the music was blaring every few minutes. He gave me some helpful tips after pointing out that my wiper blades needed replacement and provided an estimate of the cost when I asked. We ended up having to ask for a refund for a surprise charge that was never discussed and ended up with an addiationl flat tire that happened while the car was in their care. We had a flat tire and came into the lot with the donut on the right front wheel. All our four tires were Continental and only a year old from American tire in Palo Alto. They first wanted to convince us to buy four more tires, but our tires were sufficiently new that we declined. We only wanted two tires for the front. The sales person said that they only had Michelin tires for $311 per tire in stock. I asked when the Continental could be delivered and the price of it and they told us that they would only come a day later but they would only be $250. For the sake of speedy exchange, we agreed to buy two more expensive Michelin tires. The total came out to $800+ and once I had paid I was informed that I also had bought a sort of certificate that entitled me to a free tires if anything would happen to my new tires to the tune of $62 per tire - a total of $124. I was surprised that they didn't tell me and ask me before adding it to the bill. The sales person tried to convince me by saying that he drove over a pothole and then got a free replacement. I am immune to these kinds of anecdotal testimony from a sales person and I ask for immediate reimbursement. Lo and behold when we came to pick up the car, I was informed that (1) they had rotated the tires - now the new tires were in the rear and the old Continental tires were in front and (2) during this rotation process they had discovered that one of the former rear tires had a nail in it and couldn't be repaired. We were surprised that we had driven in with a known flat tire and then they discovered another issue. The pick-up sales person said "let's have a look." And a look we had: the tire now was flat! So we had dropped off a flat tire (we had exchanged the flat tire with our donut) and dropped off the car with three perfectly fine tires and while the car was at this American tire location, one of our tires had surprisingly gone flat due to a screw. That all sounded weird and we just wanted to exchange our donut for the flat tire and drive away. Regrettably, we did have evening engagements and work the next day, so the sales person offered us to exchange the two old "Continental" tires with Michelin tires at a discount. We really didn't want to give them more of our money, but timewise it was the most convenient. We agreed to buy two more tires (as they had pushed us to buy in the beginning). So we did have two unpleasant interactions with this American Tire location and still feel weird about working with a company in the business of fixing flat tires and then at pick-up see that there is a new flat tire. Our advice: check exactly what they are billing you for - any "certificate charges" that were not discussed before charged to you - and make sure you check all your good tires before you hand your vehicle over to them. read more

Already been my go to place when I need to buy tires, but the service here is really over the top. My son picked up a nail in his tire late on friday night. We called Volkswagen Sunnyvale Saturday. They said they were backed up and probably couldnt get us in, but we could drop it off. If they could patch it, would be $50. American Tire said bring it in right away. I dropped off @ 845, and was ready before 930. Patched it for free. I now shop based on customer service rather than price (although I guess it cant be cheaper than free), but this is my spot for anything tire related (guessing tire prices are competitive too, but I wont even check in the future). read more

Had an appointment for 8:45am. I had to get all 4 tires replaced. They had me out in less than an hour, paying way less than I have ever paid for tires. Even had my windshield wipers replaced which I would usually do my self because most places up charge so much for little things. The wipers were about what they would cost in a store, with no cost to install so I was happy to get them here. Staff was also friendly and communicative with updates about my vehicle. I walked in for a flat tire repair and was immediately taken care of. My tire was patched within an hour, even with a large rush. The best part was that I felt like the mechanic didn't try to upsell me or guilt me into buying something. They have a free service air pump if you need to add air into your tires. Since before the staff of this store we're in junior high, most likely. I have other reviews of other stores of this company, and I still stand by those glowing reviews. Came in Friday 8/23 at 10:00am for tire inspection for slow leak. Tire under warranty by purchased certificate. Given 2.5 hour estimate for wait. Couldn't do it. Returned at 2:00pm to make an appointment for the next day. Was told they couldn't make one, and I should walk in. Came on Saturday 8/24 at 10:52am. Line was long. I was seventh. At 11:12am, I am fourth. A lady in front of me stood in line for 30 minutes just to try to get someone to help her use the free-to-use air machine. Way too slow. One can't expect to get back on the road promptly. Update: Was seen by an agent at 11:26am. Update: Nail found and fixed at 12:27pm. Everyone was very friendly. Not blaming anyone. Great service here! I started coming here a couple years ago when I realized they will put air in your tires for free. You don't have to be a customer or anything, you literally just pull up and someone takes care of it for you. So much better than me trying to figure out different gas station air machines! I maybe understand why they provide this service when I recently came by for a fill after my tire pressure light came on. The guy who was filling my tires was like uhhhhh you need new tires (which is when I learned that apparently you are supposed to replace your tires after 6 years. huh!). It was early November and I appreciated that he not only explained why I needed them, but also let me know that they'd have good deals for Black Friday, so I could wait until then if I wanted. Sure enough, they did have good deals, and I bought new tires online on their easy-to-use website and stopped by a week later to get them installed! The installation was pretty painless - I had an appointment and I definitely recommend you do too because they'll prioritize you over walk-ins. It took maybe an hour or less total on a Friday morning for me. In addition to the free pressure checks, America's Tire also offers free rotations for the life of your tires, so I'll keep coming back here! I compared prices with some other places, and while some other stores came close or were just a tiny tiny bit better in terms of tire prices, only America's Tire offered free rotations which I think definitely makes them one of the best deals. read more

The good: the price on their tires is great. The bad: it is so hard to get a timely appointment--even when you have a nail in your tire and cannot wait a week. Then, when you do have an appt, you still have to wait. They really need to set up a system for those that come in needing tire repairs. My three sisters swear by this Mountain View branch of America's Tire (AT). So when my car alerted me of a low tire pressure, my sister said AT would fill it for free. So off we went--she's been a customer for 25+ years so they know each other. A shoutout to Marco Rodrieguez eagle eyes for noticing a nail imbedded in the rear tire right away. It was not patchable. So the question was to either to-buy 2 new tires@ AT or return to the dealership as my warranty still hadn't expired for which Marco pointed out. I knew that this dealership is always busy in getting an appointment and I wasn't too interested in getting a prorated deal on a tire that I've driven for almost 4 years as the warranty was due to expire in three months! Regardless I asked Marco what they had in stock; and fortunately they had 2 that were similar to what I had. A sale was made. Estimated finished time was to be at 3:30, and the job was completed by 3:00 instead. Customer service by Marco was outstanding. The quality of the service and overall experience is below average. May be due to the shop being busy. There is usually a long line of customers. I got a set of four tires replaced and mounted. The paint from two wheels was scraped in the process. Quite noticeable as the wheels are curb rash/damage free and ceramic coated. 3.5 stars... I hate to knock a place when they are short-staffed and the wait can't be helped, but they could do MUCH better with time estimates! Had a 10:15am appointment to get new tires installed, got there around 10am, and stood in line. Made it to the counter around 10:10am to check in. He took my info, told me to have a seat. I received a text with the status, and it acknowledged that I had arrived, but wasn't fully checked in. Took until around 10:35am to actually get called back to the desk to fully check in. The 2nd guy took all my info again. They have a large monitor facing the customer which is convenient for seeing what they are doing and confirming information, but multiple times, a list of customers was visible on the screen - - complete with details like full names, type of vehicle, etc. Didn't feel fully comfortable knowing that this info, which should probably be kept private, is viewable by other customers. After getting checked in fully, was told it would be about 40 minutes, up to an hour at most. No problem, I had planned to walk to Cuesta Park to hang out while I waited. I gave it about 30 minutes and just before heading back, checked the status in the link provided. I was surprised to find that it said my estimated completion time was 5:23pm! I called to confirm whether this was accurate and spoke to the first guy. He told me that there was a mistake in the link, probably mixed up with another customer... okay... he said my vehicle had just gone into a bay and it would be 15-20 minutes, definitely ready in a half hour's time. Okay... After 15 minutes, I checked the status link again, which still showed 5:23pm, so I decided to head back but stop at a store on the way back to pick up a few items. I had initially planned to stop after, but since this had already taken more time than the first time estimate I received, I figured I'd try to regain some time, plus give them a little extra time to make sure it was done... Well, I arrived back at America's Tire around 11:40am to see the vehicle still in the bay... but then also noticed that the old tires were still on!! I didn't see the sense in asking the desk since I saw it there, so I sat outside to give myself real-time updates since it seemed the link and the staff updates were pretty unreliable. I sat there for another 1/2 hour until I finally saw one of the old tires come off. Then it sat some more with no tires. FINALLY, 2 hours and 27 minutes after I had arrived that morning, the new tires were on...! It was around 12:40pm when I was driving out of the parking lot at long last. The service was nice enough, but not overly warm or friendly. I asked the guy who gave me the keys at the end why the time estimate was so far off; he apologized and said they were short-staffed and there was only one guy...? That's too bad, but it'd be one thing if I was given an outdated estimate far in advance, for instance if it were an estimate given when we made the appointment. However, how could the two time estimates I received the day of (the initial estimate and the updated one after calling 35 minutes into my wait) be so off?? The front should communicate with the technicians and give customers accurate time estimates and updates. If I had known I would have had over 2 hours to kill, I could have been a lot more efficient with my time. It was lucky I didn't have another appointment or obligation during that time to get to. As I was leaving, I also noted that the parking lot was littered with random bolts and parts. I was nervous that I might puncture a new tire backing out of the spot they parked our vehicle in! Perhaps they could figure out a way to sweep the parking lot of the random debris every now and then. All in all, not horrible, but I've had much better experiences at another America's Tire location in the area that has a clean parking lot, and where I've had slightly friendlier service, accurate time estimates, and a working status link. Hopefully this location can hire more employees (or not book so many appointments?), improve communication and time estimates, and work out the other kinks. read more

I scheduled an appointment and was assured multiple times that it would take 45 min - 1 hr, last time they confirmed when I was dropping the car. It took 2 hr 15 min!!! of which 1:45 it was sitting on the parking lot And only when they they took it in bay they realized that they don't have tires I bought online 3 weeks ago (and got "your order has arrived" confirmation). Then, instead of calling me, they just installed those different tires and told me I can come again to replace them. read more

They always take care of me here! Free repairs on my Tesla tires save me so much money! They're also very friendly and efficient!

Few things I've learned by going here around 5 times. 1) Always have an appointment unless you don't mind 6hr wait times. 2) Waiting areas are top notch with comfy seats, water and clean restrooms. You also can see the work being done from inside which is a plus. 3) Always scan the tires first before checkin-in the vehicle on repair date, even thought they did the same on a day of diagnosis. 4) Sometimes you may lot get repair done on the same day as the diagnosis depending on the backlog. Might be good to call in and check. 4) Be prepared that your vehicle might not be taken at the allotted appointment time due to backlogs. Sometimes there may be 1hr so delay to get it in the bay. Will be good to ask front desk estimated fix time first. 5) Make sure you double check if the tire nobs are in place when checking out the vehicle. 6) Make sure let them know to confirm tpms lights are out, all checked are done before taking vehicle out of the bay. Some reps just don't do this and they don't communicate with the front desk on updates based on what they find on the pit, leaving the customer to come back again since they loose the spot after taking the vehicle out of the bay. 7) Make sure you keep track on the warranty , all american tire shops track customer from the phone number so they should have all your purchases logged. There are some really honest workers here, Chris was super( I changed my review from 1 to 4 stars after he did the tpms consultation). Nick is also great. read more

Perhaps I could wait in line virtually. He was very busy but was very professional in making sure I was helped and that I was able to manage the check-out process. Not only was Chris professional and efficient....he saw me struggling getting out of my car and offered his arm to help me walk. I am writing this review from the waiting area. I had bumped my front right tire this morning and luckily remember to check as I left work. Unfortunately I found 2- 2inches slit damage. I drove slowly to the store praying that it wont blew up on me. They are 30 minutes from closing. Jose Vilaysone the assistant manager greeted me very politely and inspected my tires. They have to be changed of course, he is fast in finding the matching tires, work on getting me the right pricing and having them changed despite the store is about to close soon. I needed a set of brand new tires swapped from one set of wheels to another set quick, so I called around to find a shop that would do it the same day. Most shops couldn't, but America's Tire was able to do it and told me to just show up as a walk-in. About one hour later I got there to find a huge line of customers who were also walk-ins. For some reason that afternoon they became super busy. Nevertheless I was able to get my tires done, understandably after a long wait. Their work tracking site and text connectivity to the customer's cell phone worked nicely. I was able to go offsite and know when they started and completed the work. I also got a text when the job is done, so I could return to the shop with no wasted time. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the did the job perfectly. read more

A decent chain of shops, I purchased tires with warranty, I don't think the tires will last 60000 miles. But the warranty is well worth it, free tire rotation, air check and fill. Also free tire repair. Lots Of peace of Mind . The older I get the less time I want to do manual labor, so why don't I have someone else do it , if it's free to me. The last time I had a idiot light on for low tire pressure. So the where able To scan my tires and get the tire pressure, without even using a tire pressure gauge, note to self.
