I brought my kid here for dinner on a Monday night. I heard it was the oldest restaurant in the woodlands. It has a really nice ambiance and sleek decor. I'm glad I wore long pants. I could just imagine DeNiro and Pesci sitting in a corner talking mafia business and who they're gonna knock off next. It was empty but that didn't stop the wait staff from being at the very top of their game. They weren't off chit chatting or looking at their phones. Nope. They were old school cool. And they literally stood there the whole time just observing the floor and who needed attention. I mean, how often do you see that kind of service these days? Never is the answer. We had the fried calamari to start with. It came out quick and was good sized. The batter was literally the best I've ever had. And the marinara sauce had a nice kick. The complimentary bread is hot and crisp and of 3 varieties including a raisin nut one. The olive oil with I believe garlic at the bottom was perfect as a dipping sauce. That combo in of itself could almost qualify as an appetizer imho as it was so fresh and tasty. I got the pollo parmigiana. It had a nice crisp coating that was still crunchy under the solid layer of cheese covering it. The spaghetti was of the thin variety (I prefer thick) but nevertheless really tasty and cooked perfectly. So much better than the last chicken parmigiana that I had at the last Italian restaurant I went to. They don't have a kids menu but they can work with you on kid sized portions. My kid decided to just get a salad and went with the Tomato Caprese. She was so impressed with the evening, that she said one date she's going to take her date here when she's older. There's a dessert tray with more options than their online menu. We went with the chocolate decadence cake. And boy was it thick. I couldn't even cut it with my fork sideways. I had to stab it down it was so dense. If you're a chocolate lover like us you'll love it. It comes with a decorative raspberry sauce on the plate and some big chocolate thingies on top. It wasn't cheap. But it also was the best dining experience I've had in the woodlands since moving here. FYI the owner bought Wunsche Bros in Spring apparently after the fire there and rebuilt it. The takeaway bags have that name on it. So we'll have to go check it out. read more

I visited here one day for happy hour and found this to be a very classy place. I had read previously they were The Woodlands original upscale restaurant and started the trend for all the other ones which followed. The interior is a mix with some nicely updated areas and some outdated areas (e.g. their restrooms). Their happy hour lasts until 7pm 6 days a week....which is practically unheard of these days. It has a good food selection with 11 hearty dishes ranging from $9 - $18 currently. As far as drinks, they have the $5, $6, and $8 basic drinks, and then the higher priced specialty cocktails (5 of them) for $11 each. I tried the toasted ravioli and mussels. For drinks, I tried the margarita and an old fashioned. Toasted ravioli - I have to admit....Houston is probably never going to beat any of the restaurants serving toasted ravioli in St. Louis. Here, they're more rubbery and you can barely taste any beef. Mussels - a big disappointment, they are steamed in garlic herbs and white wine, but on my visit they tasted sour and putrid. Margarita - a very smooth drink made with triple sec. I liked it, but it was a little pricy for happy hour considering I had just had a great $7 margarita down the road just yesterday. Old fashioned - this was a good cocktail with simple ingredients but it was made well. Again, a little pricy for happy hour as I visit another restaurant in the Waterway which uses better quality whiskey and is priced a few dollars less. I was a little disappointed about the service since the bartender was working the bar area and also several tables in the general vicinity. I ended up finishing my first drink and then waited nearly 15 mins before they even asked me if I wanted another. I also had to battle with a crawling insect on the bartop. I initially brushed him away from my plates....but later found him crawling on my pant leg. Uggh...so annoying! read more

Amerigo's was a fantastic finish to a wonderful day! My husband made reservations here for our anniversary, and Phillip went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and had an amazing experience, even including an anniversary card on the table when we arrived! We started with the scallop appetizer with candied bacon. I'm not usually a scallop fan because of the texture, but these were perfectly cooked, and the touch of blood orange made them a delightful flavor combination. I wood eat these again! We shared a Caesar salad with oven-dried tomatoes, which added a twist that worked. For entrées, I had the Cioppino, and my husband ordered the veal chop topped with lump crab. The Cioppino had incredible depth and richness that left me wanting more, and his veal chop was perfectly cooked with buttery, flavorful crab on top. We also ordered the brussels sprouts to try those, they were boiled rather than fresh fried, but perfectly cooked and flavorful. I'll admit I'm part of the flash craze and I've never had a boiled brussels sprout but I would order these again! For dessert, I enjoyed the blueberry bread pudding, and my husband devoured his crème brûlée. Our drinks were well made, and the piano playler came over and sang us a special song. Came to try the Houston Restaurant Week menu and ended up ordering off the regular menu. I had an out of this world lemon and artichoke soup. Our waitress raved about it and Im so glad Iistened to her. I really wish I could remember her name so I could shout her out. Came here with the extended family (8) of us for 2025 Houston Restaurants Weeks and had a great time. Older restaurant in the Woodlands area tucked in a quaint shopping center. Got seated at a private table around 7 pm. Wasn't too busy but was picking up. A bit older crowd for a weekend night. Decor was nice a bit of a mix between classic Italian and a little modern. Almost all of us got the HRW menu and everything was amazing. I personally had the Italian meatballs which was very interesting take, I was thinking just meatballs in red sauce but these were smaller with polenta. I also got the tortellini Gamberi which was actually really unique and delicious and ended with the chocolate decadence. Overall the family had fun and it was a great outing. read more

Last night my husband and I went to Amerigo's for happy hour. It was 10/10! We sat at the bar. My dirty martini was strong and perfect. Husband said his old fashioned was ok. We ordered a bottle of wine as well. ALL wines under $100 are half off on Tuesdays! What a great deal! We had never been before so wanted to try a lot of apps before ordering some bigger happy hour items. We did the ravioli (9/10), bruschetta (10/10), and the meatballs with polenta (8/10). Forgot to take pics of the food but the potions were seriously huge for happy hour! We were so stuffed we didn't have room to order more food. Sadly during the timeframe that we were there, we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. I just wanted to spread the word on this amazing happy hour spot! Service was amazing, nice relaxing ambiance, and happy hour deals that were some of the best bang for your buck I've experienced. We will definitely be back to support them! read more

From the time you drive up, you know it will be a special experience. Subtle lighting and modern beautiful decor. The host and wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They served complimentary bread with a generous serving of Olive Oil, (I hate when you have to ask for more, we did not have to!) I had the mushroom risotto with a side of spinach, the spinach was just lightly cooked and wonderful! The risotto had plenty of mushrooms in it and was cooked to perfection. My husband asked for chicken piccata instead of Veal piccata and they were happy to make that for him. He said it was just perfect. I was served the best Ahi Tuna I've ever had. I visited Amerigo's for the first time last Thursday with a larger group who frequent this establishment for cocktail hour and had such a great experience. We were greeted by a host at the door as soon as we arrived and, other than my trip to the very clean restroom, I do not believe I touched a door the entire time I was there as there was always wonderful staff nearby to hold them for me as I approached. The interior of the venue was very posh, excellent for a more intimate meal, with a fantastic bar and an equally as fantastic bartender running the scene. Every server was extremely professional, did not hover over us but made sure we were never wanting for anything, and paced our meal perfectly. We were seated outside at a few of their patio tables that had been pulled together to seat our group, but as there were a couple of extra people from this group's norm it was a slightly tighter fit. It wasn't uncomfortable, we just had to get creative fitting in all of our plates. The outdoor dining area was well maintained with a beautiful garden atmosphere, and the umbrellas were large enough to shield us from the few stray raindrops at the end of our meal. We were given baskets of assorted breads and olive oil to taste prior to ordering as we chatted sipped on our wine; I highly recommend the raisin bread as it had such a wonderful earthy sweetness. At the suggestion of nearly everyone in the group, I ordered the Chardonnay and Ahi Tuna and it was divine just as they'd assured me it would be. Though I did not catch the year or name of the bottle, the Chardonnay was exquisite and I ended up having an extra glass from my usual. Not to mention, it paired perfectly with my Ahi Tuna. The Tuna was seared with a delicious and rich blend of spices along the outside, warming the raw middle just enough so as to create an excellent soft to firm texture without a temperature difference to detract from the experience. I had expected a smaller portion, but what I received was very filling and left me satisfyingly full. To say I enjoyed every single bite is an understatement. The clothed lemon half really brought out the flavors of the dish, highlighting all of the subtle notes of the fish, fruit, and vegetables. The roasted pear tomatoes, pepper, and pear garnishes were exceptionally juicy with a great crisp from the light roasting, seasoned just enough to give their natural sweetness some spice. The pink sauce had a subtle but rich sweetness that also paired well with everything on the plate. I myself used about half of what was served so I wouldn't oversaturate the rest of the flavors, but there were several in the group that practically cleaned the ramekin it came in. This meal and the experience Amerigo's created that evening were extraordinary, and though I do not live in the Woodlands I am already planning to return with my fiancé. I cannot recommend this establishment enough. It is one of the easiest five stars I have given. read more

It has been years since I've eaten at Amerigo's so I'd forgotten what an overall pleasurable experience they provide. I ordered the veal piccata and shared sides of wilted spinach, grilled broccoli soffritto, and scallopini potatoes. The zesty flavor of the tender sliced real made my taste buds sing. The wild rice pilaf that accompanied it was a masterful combination of sweet, savory, and earthy. Even the herbed olive oil that was served with bread was a superior blend of floral proficiency. As much as I enjoyed the food, the excellence of our waiter was even more refreshing. It's unusual to find silver-haired veterans of the food service industry that are skilled, perceptive, and find joy in their work. Our waiter displayed all of these and more... a subtle sense of humor that generated pleasant banter around the table. I look forward to my next visit. read more

I have been to Amerigos many, many times. This is my first review. Until last night I've always had some type of Italian dish, and always good. But last night I had the strip steak. That was the toughest steak I've ever had. They must have chased that poor steer all over Texas to make it that tough. Just avoid it. The atmosphere is excellent, the wine prices are the highest in Montgomery County, maybe even Texas. The wait staff is amazing except for an elderly man who has been there forever. My husband and I had 7pm reservations that we pushed to 7:30 without any problems. We both ordered a glass of wine, mine was called Beautiful and it was very good. For appetizer we ordered the Ahi Tuna, as the grilled octopus was sold out. It was decent! For dinner he ordered the Wild Sea Bass and although he said it was a bit fishy, he was happy with his dish. First and last time. The waiter was very odd. He kept using inappropriate gestures to demonstrate how tough certain foods would be, like the calamari. I don't wish to see my servers tongue once much less several times. The spaghetti and meatballs were horrible, you would get better at the mall food court. They looked like what I've bought at the frozen section at HEB. To top it off they put scallion, which the manager explained were garnish for color, on the spaghetti and itty bitty meatballs. We came here for a company Christmas dinner. My steak was bland for the price, the cheese potatoes were my favorite. Brussels were not my jam, they were not charred, nor any kind of balsamic glaze, seemed more like they were boiled. Also, the gentleman was nice during conversation but while he would clear the table he would have random talking in a weird high pitch demonic voice, it was creepy, most of my coworkers noticed it also. Also my coworker asked the bartender how he made her drink because she said it was the best ever expresso martini, he rudely told her no, she thought he was joking and asked again and he told her no. On 2/14/24, the manager John Chmarney was completely unprofessional and rude to us since we arrived. I guess he was having a bad day. In addition to that, the server kept my entree after I requested to have my entree 16oz steak bagged since I had not been feeling well when the meal was being served. Shortly after, we left the restaurant when I got home I noticed I did not have my food therefore, we called the restaurant to pick up the food the server forgot to give us and John C. the general manager stated" I threw out your food," and I am not giving me another steak," when I mentioned that was not okay because I didn't even touch my food, he became irate and began yelling over the phone saying I'm not giving you anything. I asked him to reconsider and right away he was not willing to take accountability for his employee (server service errors) or redeem the error of keeping the entree I never touched, but paid for. I filed a complaint with a Better Business Bureau and will ensure I make my community partnerships aware of the low quality of customer service. Shame on GM John for calling yourself a general manager that provides superior hospitality, that's a lie... no wonder you lasted in your last position at Avaniti Italian Restaurant 8 months. I think it's time to reflect on your attitude and how you treat customers. FYI, we fine dine 2x a week and we have never experienced such low quality service by a GM and unprofessional morale until we met you, John! Just shows how unprofessional you are. read more

One of the top ten pasta/Italian joints since I moved from Chicago to Houston. The restaurant is a little awkward, but it was off hours for lunch so maybe that was the cause. Stood at host table for ten minutes, bartender there at the moment and finally started walking around to see if there was a front entrance. Ran into a server and said I would like a seat. It was very awkward. Then I saw her explaining to the bartender why she sat me. Once seated our server was attentive and super entertaining, dry humor was great. Both dishes were glorious! If they're going to be so stingy about bread don't even offer it for free. Our party of 12 had exactly one slice each. When we asked for more the staff just gave us blank stares. I'm upset at how expensive the food is and how boring it all tasted. The escargot and beef carpaccio were unseasoned. Just olive oil and unsalted butter. The service was condescending and made sure you were grateful they even let you sit down here. They scoff at splitting a check, and remind you the previous diners asked for two $500 bottles of wine so why are you here if you have to ask about dessert. One star for the ahi tuna sauce; it was a pleasant surprise, and another for the pretty lights and artwork. We won't be back. read more

The food was delicious! We had calamari, house salad, pollo Parmesan, halibut, Brussels with pancetta, and the marble cheesecake. All perfection! The service was great, and our waitress was informed and friendly. You can tell they pay a lot of attention to small details-the olive oil bread dip was BEYOND, the side salad was perfectly put together with a variety of veggies (not the standard carrots/tomato etc), and our main dishes were cooked perfectly. Also, I really appreciate a wine list with quality wines by the glass. Can be iffy at other places-but their wines by the glass were just wonderful. We went on a Monday so was fairly empty, but I think this is one of the best restaurants (atmosphere/service/quality) that we've gone to in The Woodlands. There are a lot of newer places, but I hope others try out this wonderful spot as it was a fabulous experience. read more

Was really disappointed with our "experience" at Amerigo's. I specifically say the experience because if I were just reviewing the food I wold give the restaurant 4 stars or more. However, we made a reservation for 6 and looked forward to the night. Upon arriving we were told they couldn't seat us until all were there. Normally I have no issues with that even though there was plenty of tables . Here's where things turned... I mentioned my wife has just had surgery and asked if we could go ahead and be seated. The answer was no. We almost left and probably should have. I mentioned again the need for my wife to set down and asked to be seated and only after a 3rd strong request did they seat us. The attitude of the hostess was disrespectful. The server was not much better. He was arrogant, low in personality and slow to respond. Amerigo's presents itself and its pricing as upper class but our experience was well short of that distinction. At no point did we feel like a valued customer. The food: Food taste and selection was good. Pricey but good. We had steak medallions and various pasta dishes and were pleased with all. Overall, for spending over $350.00 on the dining experience we felt it was over priced, over rated, carried a sense of arrogance I love Italian food but even with excellent service this place is over priced and underwhelming. The worst dining experience I've had costing over $500 and on my birthday! We made a reservation for a birthday dinner for four two weeks ago. From our entry, we were ignored by the manager/maitre d who had seen us enter but was too busy chatting away with the previous party he had seated. After returning he couldn't find our reservation, all while looking at us in disbelief. I had to look for my email confirmation so he could calm himself to seat us. We ordered drinks that came 25 minutes into our appetizers. Our server was not knowledgeable, mistaking appetizers for side orders, unable to articulate a single sentence and speaking to himself, we could barely hear him. Aside from appetizers we ordered 3 steaks at $60 requesting very well done-they were not and had to be returned. They tasted awful as though they'd been marinated for days with some concoction totally ridding the steak of its flavor. Service in general was slow and awful. It took forever for the server to bring something you'd ask for in what was a rather slow night for a Saturday (I wonder why..!) When it was desert time, I was hoping for a small pastry with a candle, it WAS my birthday, but nope. The one star is for the ambience and nothing else. First, let me say that the service was impecable. The bread-- so delicious and warm, nice variety in the basket, great dipping oil-- I could have lost myself in a dark corner with this bread. The Caesar salad-- tasted like mayo. Missing the brightness that a hit of lemon juice could offer. The chicken parm- loved the texture, great layer of classic mozzarella on top, but the sauce was just very bland. And, no green onions on the top, plz?! I've never had spaghetti sauce with a bunch of green onion. The carbonara-- a classic favorite of mine and it was a decent sauce. The chicken we added to it was extremely bland and chewy. I am just struggling believe a decent carbonara sans protein would cost $32. I really really wanted to like this place, but the price point for the quality just doesn't match. read more
