I found Amerikhomes off of Yelp, and despite only having 1 review, I decided to give them a try. My central air unit was having a ton of problems, from the condenser not working properly, to having a leak somewhere that caused me to have to refill the freon every summer. I've called many other people to try to fix this leak, and they all failed. Not only did they fail, but they never correctly identified the source of the leak. Leon did though. First, after checking out everything in my entire system, he was able to identify the issue with the condenser which was some faulty wiring performed by a past technician. Then he performed a leak test and identified the source of the leak rather quickly. Luckily, the leak was in the freon line and not the condenser or handler, so he was able to repair it without me having to buy a whole new unit. Long story short, Leon is awesome and very honest. He is extremely knowledgeable, and he tells you all of your options, including cheaper ones in an effort to save you money. He never suggests you do anything that is unnecessary and he has your best interests in mind. His rates are also very reasonable, especially given all the labor he performed to fix a number of problems with my system. I would absolutely recommend him, and I'm definitely calling him with whatever AC/heating needs I have in the future. By the way, the lack of reviews is due to this being a new business. The drain valve on my boiler needed to be replaced but my schedule lately has been really busy, I called Amerikhomes and the person who arranged the schedule was so nice and accommodating I was able to get an appointment that worked for me. Leon was excellent, he not only replaced the valve but explained what he was doing throughout the process; then he made great suggestions on how to maintain the boiler and what to look out for if I have future issues. I purchased Nest thermostats and was excited to install them in my new house. The problem was they weren't compatible with my older system so a DIY installation was not an option. I reached out to Nest who essentially told me it won't work. I looked up HVAC on Yelp and came across Amerikhomes and sent a message. Leon replied immediately and seemed eager to help me and explained that I can in fact install a Nest, he'll just have to run a relay with new wiring. I was able to set up a convenient appointment all through the Yelp messaging feature. On the day of the appointment Leon reached out to update me on his estimated arrival. He showed up with Anthony and they first scoped out the issue to come up with the best plan that I would be happy with. Once everything was installed Leon took the time to explain what he did and then made sure everything was functioning before leaving. He even stuck around to answer some questions I had about my new home's heating and A/C systems that had nothing to do with the work he did. Leon is a true professional, honest, and overall nice guy. Leon is a great man and gentleman. A/C system was not working and after trying a local company twice and got no responses, I checked with Amerikhomes. Leon came out and checked the system after I did my own diagnosis and he did verify it and replaced it and charged up the system. He didn't have enough Freon to charge up but it was enough for my family to be alright in the heat. I wasn't there for the first service call as I was away working and scheduled him back a second time as he was pretty booked up on jobs. He didn't press me about payment until the first trip until he came back and completed the job fully. Highly respect people like that as it shows they will wait until the job is done to then collect payment. Yelp is spot on with this one, Leon (Amerik Homes) deserves the 5 star reviews. We have an automatic water feeder at our house, which has been installed by the previous home owner, so we wanted to get a maintenance review of it, but I didn't really know who to reach out to. I even called the manufacturer and asked if they had authorized and dedicated service technicians in the NYC area, who would be willing to come and take a look at our specific device, and to give us some tips on maintenance. I didn't want to rely on watching a youtube video or even reading the manual, because I wanted to ensure it was going to be handled professionally. I didn't wait for the manufacturer to respond to me, before I reached out to Amerik Homes, having seen all the great yelp reviews. And, no doubt, Leon responded to my request immediately, and we followed up with a scheduled meeting to have him come out and inspect our device and boiler. Leon showed up bright and early, and on time, (we were still in our PJs!), and he was very pleasant and easy to talk to. He took about an hour to look over our machine, gave us some tips and imparted general knowledge about boiler systems. He meticulously cleaned out our burners, and water level glass indicator tube, and left the machine cleaner than when he arrived, the entire process gave me some peace of mind, knowing that our boiler was looked at by an experienced and knowledgeable technician, and that my questions about the automatic water feeder were answered, and everything was done at a fair price. Oh my gosh, Amerikhomes, you are the best! I had a furnace problem on my birthday in a snowstorm the day before I was supposed to leave on a week's vacation. I called another vendor who demanded a $300 payment in cash just to look at it and then never showed. The next day I called Amerikhomes, who were happy to book an appointment around my tenant's work schedule and didn't even ask for an up-front fee. Leon arrived on time, identified and fixed the problem in under two hours (including replacing a part), and emailed me a bill I could pay securely online from 1500 miles away. My husband and I were experiencing uneven heating issues and had just moved into our new home a week ago, and we decided to call Leon to troubleshoot and check out our boiler. We are so glad that we did! He was easy to communicate with and set an appointment via messenger on Yelp as well as by phone. He even called to move our appointment up to an earlier time when he had an opening. He and his assistant arrived and in a short amount of time were able to figure out what our issues were, and he reviewed the problem spots with us. As he was working, they gave us regular updates, and before mentioning getting new parts first he decided to try a clean out and tune up, which lucky for us solved one of our problems. Leon is a great A/C repairman, he's up front and doesn't look at you as a paycheck he looks at you as human being that he want to help provide a solution to. Leon stopped by at the scheduled time but I had to run out really quickly and my phone was going straight to voicemail and I didn't receive his voicemail until I got home 30 minutes to see him still waiting for me outside. He then pulled my Portable 14,000 btu A/C apart and walked me through the process of him running diagnostics on it all the way though fixing the unit. I am a General Contractor so I know when someone knows how to handle a blow torch and copper pipe, and I can tell you Leon knows what he is doing! I owned property in FL for 16 years. Now in NY I have inherited old split units. I have called my guy in FL to consult on my issues here in NYC because he has been in business for 40 years and I trust him completely for trying to find the cheapest and best solution to my problem. With that said, with Amerikhomes, Leon is my Frank from FL equivalent. I have found trying to find contractors here in NYC MUCH more difficult than FL. They seem to always provide the better for them solution than the better for you (you need new units for 2500 vs. can we swap out a condenser that I don't use much for the one that is broken and used a lot more). Leon not only took the time to find a solution to my condenser issue, he didn't listen to me to swap out one of my condensors for my tenant's broken unit. I know I am on borrowed time, but I would prefer to purchase a new unit next year, not this year, and he came up with a 300 dollar solution, not a 2k one, or a swap out. He also said everything that my guy in FL said. It was like listening to the same person. He seemed to enjoy trying to figure it out. He is reasonable, super well mannered (rare in Queens), polite and calm. He will explain anything that you want to learn. Caveat, he will be late, but compared to $1000, he is worth the wait. By the way, he will fix appliances and heating unit issues as well. read more

I'm a bit late, but Leon saved us. Our heater broke down right before the holidays and were told by another company, who is reputable, that it would have to be replaced. Leon came in, inspected everything, spent extra time reviewing all the connections, cleaned the machine, assured us that it was old but still in good shape, showed us the telltale areas to look for as warnings when a replacement was necessary and stayed until nearly 2 in the morning fixing everything at an incredibly reasonable price. We cannot stress his professionalism, his ability and patience to fix the puzzling issues that arose, his knowledge, the niceness of the staff member on the phone, and the overall way he fixed the old heater. Frustrating experience. Scheduled appointment between 10 - 12. Left work to meet technician but he never showed. When I called they said he had come before 10 but nobody was there. Well no, because our appointment was from 10-12. They said he called, but did not leave a message. The upshot was he couldn't come back until later that afternoon, and I had to go back to work, so it was a complete waste of my time. read more
