I had my home re-piped couple of years ago. Didn't have an issue until my washer broke down. Then we discovered when the house was re-piped my washer water connection are both hot water. Both pipes are connected to hot water instead of hot and cold. I called Bob the owner he said he would have someone call me to fix this. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. Ameriserve repiped our home in 2012. They also did new construction piping for a remodel, removed one water heater and stubbed it off, added a new water main in addition to repiping the entire house in L grade copper and added extra shut off valves. They were clean and neat and the drywall repair was excellent. I've never had a plumbing problem since. I just recommended them to a friend. read more

A tale of two jobs........ My first experience with Ameriserve was several years ago. It was a residential repipe of my friend's house. The experience was good, work was done to a good standard, the workers were professional, and the job was done to our satisfaction. The last job was a different story. We received an Ameriserve estimate to repipe a mixed use residential/commercial property. The job was divided into two parts, the commercial part was the priority so we focused the estimate on that part. I received a call from the estimator a few hours later asking if we could ALSO do the residential part and we came to an agreement on price. Turns out we never actually went upstairs to see the job.....huge mistake. So the crew came out to do the job. Keep in mind, Ameriserve uses a variety of different 'crews'. Needless to say, we didn't get the crew that did the last job. My complaints: 1. Quality of workmanship 2. Vague estimating allows for additional fees ($1800 ouch!) 3. Removed 7 hose bibbs and replaced them with only 4 4. Used 'creative' techniques to save time ~patched stucco with taping compound ~used single valves to feed separate sinks ~"forgot" to do things (like 1/2 of the hose bibbs) ~attached new pipes to old pipes ~used shower head pipes as nipples? 5. Didn't take responsibility for leak damage 6. Punitive additional fees 7. 2 minute final walk (rush) through 8. Salesman is far less motivated to fix repairs See photos of the actual work. Ultimately, I received a less than acceptable service, damage from an Amerisave leak, poor workmanship, an insulting additional bill and ultimately an unfinished job. I think Ameriserve is more geared for smaller residential jobs. If you have a large project, BEWARE...... REPLY to Bob comment: The pictures speak for themselves. You should take time to inspect some of the finished jobs personally. Honestly, the only part of that job that you would be proud to put the Amerisave name on is the soffit that I built to help you. They didn't repipe the laundry, they just tied in all the old pipes. I offered to pay for the janitor's closet....which I overlooked during the estimate. Hose bibbs should be 'replaced' not just removed as part of any estimate. I would hope that "zero" hose bibbs in an estimate for a 6000 sq' building and 2 apartments would be a serious oversight on the part of the estimator? This is not the Ameriserve quality you promote on your website, "our employees are the best in skill, attitude and workmanship". My plumber, installing a new fixture, noticed that my (galvanized) pipes were badly corroded; most likely they came with the house, built in 1962. I got estimates from 3 repiping firms, and chose Ameriserve. They spent one day doing the job, half of the next patching where holes had to be made, and cleaned everything up. After many attempts to contact Bob Park by phone and email for over 3 weeks now with no response, concerning faulty installation that caused further damage to my home from his repiping job, I can not recommend this service to anyone. I am very disappointed!!! I am now having to pay out of pocket to have my walls repaired and painted. Giving the company a one star rating is being more then generous. Besides, you can't rate 0 or I would have. Mr Park as of today 8/6/14 has still not attempted to contact me. Bob Park is a hard seller, but when it comes to backing up his words, that's another story. I would strongly suggest that when looking for a plumbing service to do a big job, take your time and research the business so this doesn't happen to you!!! We had Ameriserve repipe our house with their "lifetime warranty". We've since had a leak which we discovered and now Ameriserve is unresponsive. They don't answer their phones, email or emergancy line. We would expect at least an answer to our request. Don't use this service, at this point its the rule and not the exception. read more

We recently moved into a new home that had a patchwork of plumbing materials supplying our water. We knew we needed a full repipe, and we did our diligence researching and shopping around for competing quotes. The video presentation on Ameriserve's yelp page was very informative, and when we called for more information, Staci was very helpful answering our questions and helping us compare our options. Ultimately we settled on copper over pex with guidance from Ameriserve based on our usage and preferences and we repiped our whole home's supply plumbing. Ameriserve handled all the little details like the pressure regulator, the hose bibs, and the little drywall work they did have to do far exceeded our expectations. Bob Park the owner came out the same day and called if he could come earlier. He explained the entire process from begining to end and the difference between Copper and PEX. We went with PEX. He even went over the quality and had a printed list of the quality and types of fittings they were going to use. Carlos Ontiveros and his team showed up an hour early and introduced us to his team, it was very professional and appreciated. Carlos is a master re pipe expert and knows exactly how to do the job correctly like a chess game with every move planned. All along he asked if I was happy and always addressed any concerns that popped up. We have a big house and 1/2 of the house had water working the same day already. They covered all the Marble and wood flooring along with all the cabinets in the working areas. They worked as a team and in the end, they even patched up every hole to match the texture. Just had my 2200 sq ft Home repiped by Ameriserve. Specifically by the crew of Jose, Rick and Salvador. I initially was given a very good price by the owner Bob. I opted for the PEX which they primarily use for the runs and then they use copper for the attachments. Jose, Rick and Salvador, the installers, did a great job. They rerouted any pipes to create minimal damage to the walls. They covered all the floors, cleaned up any debris and patched any holes created from the installation. read more

Technician stood me up 2 days on a follow up call (after repipe no water pressure in bathroom). Now they refuse to answer the phone or text messages. Bob has no contact number or email on his business card! Follow up: So after spending a weekend stressing over all this I received a call Monday morning from the office manager, who apologized profusely. She had evidently taken Friday & the weekend off that's why nobody answered when I called during business hours (maybe get coverage next time?) As far as being stood up on the follow up visit, supposedly tech left his phone with the crew Friday and they are unable to relay messages (possibly again because nobody in the office). Overall I felt we got a fair price for the work preformed, the crew while here were very polite and efficient. Clean up could have been better, there was construction debris left in the laundry room, dirty water stains and more construction dirt under the bathroom sinks. The patch jobs were pretty good on visible walls but not great in less visible locations like under the sinks and behind toilet. I have texturing overspray on the wall plates etc. My gardener fixed the flooding issue in the backyard due to the new pressure of the water, my husband dug out a ladder and replaced the attic hatch that was left off (had they not done a crummy job putting the plastic light panel back up we never would have seen this). My original water issue on my flooring is still happening because it wasn't a slab leak after all! If my pipes were not 51 years old and probably ready to give out soon anyway I would be really mad at having a re-pipe that wasn't needed, probably there should have been a bit more investigating before jumping to that conclusion but I will take responsibility for that since I didn't call a professional detection company first and assumed they would be able to determine the problem. I am rating just ok and hoping I never have to call them again for any warranty work. read more

My husband and I bought a house in San Lorenzo and like most homes around here, ours was built and the 1950's and had original piping. That means if you're taking a shower you have to tell everyone in the house you're taking a shower so someone doesn't flush the toilet and scald you. I'm happy to report that since we used Ameriserve to repipe our home we now hove no issue of water temperature or pressure changing when someone else is using water...and it's been a couple years since they did it! The service was incredibly fast (2 days) for having a whole house repiped and I don't think we could've gotten a lower price. I'm so thankful we had Ameriserve repipe our home. The job was a PEX repipe of a 1.25 bath house, installation of new shower fixture, and installation of new water heater. It also included a loop to be set up for a future water softener. I put off this project for years because I hate dealing and negotiating with contractors, and trying to figure out who will not screw me and my family over. I finally got around to scheduling estimates with 5 repipe companies. Only 3 of them actually showed up and only 2 showed up on time; one of them being Ameriserve. Ken Chung from Ameriserve was the final estimate that I had scheduled, so he had the opportunity to point out the flaws in every other company that I had received an estimate from. He successfully convinced me that every other company out there was not as good as Ameriserve, and adjusted his price to be competitive towards the lower end of all the bids. For Ken, I'll give 4 stars. Overall, I was very happy with my experience with him, and he pretty much delivered what he said he would. I hope that if something goes wrong in the future, he will stand by his warranty. He explained how other companies that bid on my project charge a fee for warranty service, or don't use proper techniques or materials, or don't cover materials at all in their warranty. He also added an extra ice maker line and water heater installation for free as part of the job. We scheduled the job for about 2 weeks out. On that day, Ken showed up on time, and the foreman Albert showed up about 10 minutes late...not a big deal to me. We did a walk-through of every thing that was written in the contract so Ken, Albert, and myself would be sure that we all agreed on the work that needed to be done. Even though Albert looked like a gangbanger, he was super nice and professional. The crew was Albert plus 2 young men who were also professional (at least they addressed me as "sir"). They taped down plastic or drop cloth every where they would be walking or working. I would say the only thing that went wrong was that he told me they would be done by 4pm, but they didn't actually finish until around 6. I understand that things take longer than expected, but when 4pm came around it would have been really nice if they told me it would take until 6. Albert apologized for the schedule slip at least 10 times. However, he more than made up for it by fixing an improperly-graded sewage line while he was down in the crawl space. He did that for free; another plumber several months ago gave me a quick, rough estimate of about $1000-1500. If you hire this company, you probably can't go wrong with Albert. All told, I give Albert 5 stars. There is a woman named Staci who answers the phone when you call. The day before my repipe was scheduled, I called to ask if I could find out when my patching would be scheduled. She told me that she couldn't tell me because she didn't know what the patch team's workload was going to be ahead of time. This seemed a little strange, so I tried asking the question in different ways to see if I could at least get a rough schedule or some info at all, but she just kept saying she doesn't know the work load. What she could have told me was just that I would need to call her when the inspection was complete to schedule the patch crew (that's what Albert and Ken told me later). For your customers who don't deal with this stuff every day, it would be nice to explain the process so we can make plans accordingly. I'll give Staci a 2. She's probably a nice lady, but didn't seem to be trying that hard to impress any customers on the phone. Kevin is supposedly the guy that handles the permit process, and I had a really confusing phone call with him. Albert told me to call Kevin the day after the repipe to find out when the inspector would be coming. So the day after the repipe, I called Kevin, told him my name and that I just finished a repipe the day before and wanted to see if he could give me a time window that the inspection would be happening. He asked me to repeat my name and said he wasn't aware of that job. Then he told me he'd have to call me back. So he called me back after a couple of minutes and asked me, "What company did you do the repipe with?" I was so confused...I thought he worked for Ameriserve, but apparently he must work for multiple repipe companies. Anyway, he told me just to call the office to find out and Staci gave me the info right away. Kevin gets a 1, but I'm not sure who he works for. My overall read of the company is that it seems like a sort of loose alliance of different teams. When I asked Ken about the bad reviews I saw on Yelp, he said that he couldn't address them because he didn't work on those projects. So it sounds like its every man for themselves. This is not the company you hire if you want someone to show up in a company car wearing a company shirt and baseball cap. But you might be able to get a good deal. I first used/reviewed Ameriserve in 2011. I thought they did a good job, because our drains worked after they were done. However...... We had problems about a year after they worked on our drain lines. We called another plumbing company to find and fix the problem. Turns out that Ameriserve did an okay job with the lines, but they excavated troughs that undermined some of the footings for our house foundation!!!! Yikes!!!! I thought our house was just settling from the drought! That had to be fixed before the next earthquake, for sure! What kind of company leaves piles of debris (old pipe, etc.) and piles of excavated dirt under your house? I guess Ameriserve does. The new plumbing company also found a break near where our sewer line connects with the city line. Turns out that Ameriserve "mended" this break by getting close, within a couple of inches, to the city sewer line, and then they wrapped the gap with plastic bags or sheeting. Gee, real professional, Ameriserve! Hopefully, someone else is running the business now.... When I called for the re-pipe on our rental property, the owner called me with-in a few min. to explain the process. This phone call put my mind at rest and I scheduled the appt. Jose and crew arrived on time, and we were very happy with the install and patching of the walls. After we painted, you cannot tell where the wall/ceilings were opened. While my husband and I were painting our tenants informed us two of the three tub/shower combos didn't have hot water. After looking at it, we realized the wrong piece had been put on the dial, not allowing it to turn all the way to the hot water side. I called Ameriserve the following Monday and spoke with Stacy. She told me the next available date for a worker to come out was the following Saturday. Since the tenants did have one functioning tub/shower I agreed. Saturday came and went...nobody showed up.(Saturday office staff is worthless) On Monday I again called Stacy, she apologized and scheduled an appt. for that afternoon between 4-6pm....and, nobody showed up. I called her back at 5:45, she began to make excuses as to why he wasn't there.....weather (roads were clear I had already checked), big job he was on, wouldn't return her calls to name a few. She told me Jose could be at the house "first thing Tues. Morning". I told her how did we know they would show up then? She became even more cranky, telling me "do you want him to work 12 hours?" Since my husband works 12-14 hrs 5 days a week., my tenant works 12 + hours a day, having her worker work 12 hours after he had blown me off twice didn't bother me one bit. ( I asked to speak to the owner, and was told he couldn't call me that day or the next. Funny how he called me with-in minutes when he wanted my money, but after he had it, didn't have time to speak to me.) She stated she would try to call him again. While I was waiting for her to call me back, I called my tenants and they said it would be fine if they came Tues. morning. When Stacy called me back, I told her he could come the next morning, and she said "they have a job in Oceanside in the morning that wont work" She told me 5 min. earlier they could come Tues. morning. She continues to tell me Jose will be there between 8pm-9pm. that night......third appt. in 3 days and again, nobody showed up! After an email informing the company, of my plans to have our local plumber come correct the issue and I would be sending them the bill, one of the crew showed up this morning around 8am without so much as a 5 min. warning to my tenants. The issue was corrected in a very short time and all is well. So far we are very happy with the re-pipe, they seem to know their stuff. Just be sure you have hot water in ALL areas before they get away, cause getting them to come back to correct any issues takes a lot of effort on the customers part. read more

I recently bought another property and based on my previous good experiences and long lasting craftsmanship with Ameriserve over the past 13 years I gave them a call again about repiping my new property. Since I'm no stranger to doing my own home repairs and projects I have an understanding of what good actually looks like so I tend to micro manage poor contractors that show up to my home (HaHa). The guys that showed up were very skilled and I actually learned a lot from watching them work. Bob is the owner and showed up on time to give me an estimate. He is a very nice man and is very patient in his explanation of the process and equipment. I did prefer to do a few things different than the last couple jobs and he was very understanding and supportive to ensure that I would continue to be a happy customer. All companies struggle with finding good help, but all of the Ameriserve guys that showed up on my jobs were very experienced and trustworthy. I was very comfortable with their integrity and their craftsmanship. After a few days I discovered a few things I also had a need for so I called them back and spoke to a lady by the name of Staci. I'm sure she had a hard time squeezing me into their very tight work schedule but she called me back later that day and told me someone would be there Thursday at 9am. The guy that showed up was not from the original crew but he was just as skilled and helpful as the others. The job was done very professionally and all normal construction issues were handled appropriately. I am a very happy, long time customer and will continue using them in the future. About my leaking hose bib in review # 2. I called Ameriserve, explained the problem, and asked them to come out and fix it. They never returned my call. I called a regular plumber who took of the hose bib and showed me the copper filings that were clogging the shut off valve. AMERISERVE REFUSES TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND CORRECT THEIR NEGLIGENCE! New customers and former customers beware! We hired Ameriserve to repipe our house 3 years ago. 2 months back we had a leak start in our attic that caused substantial damage to our ceilings and walls. Over the course of 6 weeks the pipes leaked in 7 other locations due to faulty material and negligent work. Come to find out our "total repipe" left galvanized plumbing in every wall in the house. They came out to "make it right" and after busting holes in every wall, they refuse to pay for the water damage that their faulty work caused or paint the walls they busted holes through. The owner came out to the house and took pictures for his insurance claim and took my evidence against him and then called to tell us that they were not going to do anything further to fix the damage they have caused to my house. We will now have to pursue legal action against them as they are expecting me to pay out deductibles on several home owners insurance claims to fix their negligent work! I almost lost faith in the Plumbing industry until I met Bob at Ameriserve. We literally contacted 8 plumbers and half of them either never showed up at all, or told me that they would give me an estimate, but never gave me one. We ended up with 4 bids and most of them were out of the ballpark (by thousands $). Ameriserve was the most competitive bid we received. Bob and his team showed up right on time. They were professional, clean, accommodating, polite, and easy to work with. We had our entire house repiped in a day and a half including moving the water heater to another side of the house. Horrible experience with this company! The workers are sloppy and very messy. I constantly had to keep checking to make sure they patched the holes under the sinks. It took them 3 tries to put my pedestal bathroom sink back in place. Each time the pedestal sink was crooked with sloppy caulking. After the 3rd time I gave up asking them to fix the sink. I had to hire another contractor to fix the problem AND I had to buy a new sink because they had broken the pedestal sink. The workers also broke the granite counter in another bathroom. They charged $1700 to rip open a wall, ceiling and shower wall to look for a leak. It ended up being a loose soap dish that needed new caulking. To make matters worse, the shower now has a giant metal plate covering up the hole and their knob broke. While the plumber was repairing it he broke it again and asked me to go to the Ace and buy a new part while he stayed unsupervised in the house. He said there was not a Home Depot close enough, he wasn't close enough to his warehouse and that Ace charges too much, so I would have to replace the parts covered under their warranty. read more
