Tonight was our first time visiting Amici Pizzeria & Bar, and I have a feeling this is going to become one of our regular spots in South Reno. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt pleasant, inviting, and relaxing. I especially loved the unique orange lighting fixture in the middle of the restaurant--it gives the space such a chic, warm vibe. I also really liked how the seating is arranged. There are comfortable lower seating areas, booths with higher seating, and spaces that can accommodate larger groups. The different levels and seating styles make the restaurant feel interesting and multidimensional rather than like one large open dining room. The service was fast, friendly, and very attentive throughout our dinner. For an appetizer, we ordered the Dunking Shrimp, which was a great start. For my entrée, I had the Rigatoni Bolognese, and it was delicious--rich and full of flavor. My husband ordered the Chicken Piccata, which came with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. The mashed potatoes especially tasted like they were made from scratch, and even the Caesar salad was really good. They also have a nice kids' menu with options such as spaghetti and meatballs, mac and cheese, and pizza. We tried the cheese pizza, and it was very tasty and kid-approved. There is also a separate bar area that we didn't get a chance to check out this time, as well as some outdoor seating. Overall, this was exactly what we were looking for on a Sunday evening: good food, attentive service, a comfortable atmosphere, and a relaxing family dinner. Man I wish there were .5 star increments. I'd give this place a 4.5- really!! I've been wanting to try this since it changed from Lamp post pizza. Same owners, totally different vibe and pizza. I can't believe how they changed the environment. It's nothing the same! Night and day! I loved the cub chairs at low tables for eating. I've never seen that before (see pic). It was roomy and modern inside. The only thing I didn't like was the giant TV with sports on. It kinda ruined some of the atmosphere. The other two tvs had on country music videos - which I found odd. It just didn't fit the Italian higher class theme they were going for. I love that you can't see the bar and video poker. We had a large hot honey pepperoni pizza and a baked cookie with ice cream. Our bill was 40$ for t o people. We felt that was very reasonable for the experience and food we got. We loved the pizza. It was nicely crispy on the bottom. I'll return here to try their pasta for sure! (Cajun Alfredo) Service was friendly and informative. AND--- guess what, Reno?!? It's open past 9pm. 10:30 I think. When we found out that Amici was moving into the location vacated by Lampost Pizza, we were both sad and excited. Sad that we lost our Lampost but excited that Amici was moving in. Eager to try their pizza, it was time to weigh the options. The majority of their pizzas were NY Style. Characterized for their "foldability", this translated to floppy in my book. Eh, no thank you. Amici also offered a deep dish. I was hoping for Chicago style, ala Lou Malnati, but no, this is Detroit style pizza. Detroit Style Pizza defined by an airy, high‑hydration crumb, a crispy caramelized cheese edge (frico), and a bright sauce layered on top. The dough was very foccacia like and the sauce was quite nice. Sadly it was the carmelized cheese edge that failed it for me. They cheese crust was so hard, it was difficult to cut with a knife. That should have been my first clue. After trying to take a couple of bites, I was convinced I was going to break a tooth on the rock hard, stale tasting cheese crust. What a shame. I'm pretty sure if my pizza didn't have the cheese crust, it would have been pretty good. On the recommendation of our server, my wife ordered the Salmon. Not only was the Salmon dry, the mashed potatoes were completely unedible. Completely devoid of any flavor. My wife asked for some sauce to try to save her meal, not only did the sauce not help, we were charged for our bother. While I didn't ask everyone in our party, I did ask a friend that ordered the bolognese. She said the pasta was hard and tasteless and the sauce couldn't save the dish. Nice ambiance. Lots of light and roomy dining room with booth seats and tables. Bar in the back. Didn't check it out. The staff was friendly and we were seated right away. We enjoyed the meatball appetizer to start. I ordered chicken parmigiana with a side of spaghetti and marinara sauce. I was a little bit disappointed with the chicken because it was overcooked. It had a slight burnt taste on the breading. Also, the marinara was not to my liking. A little bit acidic for my taste. My husband loved his smash burger and bread pudding dessert though. My high hopes were definitely dashed. Let me start off by saying the restaurant is gorgeous such a great remodel... and our waitress was super delightful. She brought me a menu that showed everything that could be done gluten free, super awesome they have that. Unfortunately this did not include any of the pizzas :( I chose a chicken piccata where they would forego the breading. Unfortunately my meal was like 2 star. The mashed potatoes were super chunky and lukewarm, the sautéed veggies were flavorless, and the chicken was a super thin piece but covered in what was on the menu as a creamy lemon butter sauce ... in fact this was some type of MUSTARD sauce and was so gross I tried scraping it off but it had soaked in. I hate mustard. I know I always should ask for sauce on the side so def half my fault. So this review is based solely on my meal that I chose that night. Because they had a whole marked section they can do I would return as hubs liked his smashburger (gluten free would just be in a lettuce wrap) and our friend liked her pizza. We ordered a cheese and a pepperoni pizza for pickup on a busy Sunday. Because we ate a bit past our usual dinner time, the hungry kids grabbed a slice of each before I could take a photo! The pizzas themselves were pretty good, though the pickup experience could have been better--we waited for quite a while at the counter even though the restaurant wasn't busy. That said, I looked over the menu while waiting and saw several items I'd love to try. Next time, I think we'll opt for a dine-in experience instead of takeout. read more

Service: mediocre, but worse was when a corny guy strides over to table in a cheap straw cowboy hat and wearing a bolero w/cowboy boots and shorts asked us how pizza was ( it was crappy) we tried to engage him in small talk. I used to come here regularly when it was Lamppost-cheap pizza and basic beer on tap but a locals hang out. I went today and so much better!!!! The remodel is great! Love being there now. Not gross at all. I sat in the bar area-like I did when it was the old place "Lamppost" and the service was so so good! We closed our tab and decided to stay and our bartender still checked in! Thank you Zack! Great service!! The pizza-better! Much better ingredients but the deep dish was so dry that it cut the roof of my mouth like Captain Crunch cereal when I was a kid. A new restaurant opened in the old Lamppost Pizza location and what a gorgeous difference. Large TV screens perfect for World Cup viewing are on both sides of the restaurant with booths conveniently turned towards them. The lighting is pretty cool and adds to the modern ambiance. We enjoyed Penne Ala Vodka which was delicately creamy and melt-in-your-mouth perfectly cooked penne. The Parmesan note was well balanced, but something could have made it even better. Perhaps an addition of fresh pepper? We tried a build your own pizza -- pepperoni and jalapeños. You can see how perfectly the pepperoni crisped up. The sauce to cheese ratio was perfect and the crust was crispy and thin yet held the toppings. The service was fast and friendly. They were always checking for refills (water and Diet Pepsi). We were excited to see this place pop up after the closing of the previous pizza establishment. The decor inside is fun and they have multiple TVs for sports! One of the tell tale failures in pizza making is where the cheese doesn't adhere to the dough. Kinda like a dairy toupee. Another where the dough isn't cooked uniformly into crust. Kinda like the bondo on my old '86 el Camino Wife's salad was ok but it was missing the nuts Kinda like neutered 2 stars because the staff was nice and place clean. But if it were me (and it is) I'd lit up from Reno, skip it, and keep on trucking. read more

Had to try Amici Pizzeria and Bar after hearing great reviews from everybody. We were greeted and promptly seated by very friendly staff in a very roomy and comfortable booth. Beautiful modern interior decor made us feel at home and happy we were dressed in our business casual attire. Round of cocktails included a nice pour of Pinot Noir, a smoky old-fashioned, and a delicious Casamigos tequila cocktail with fresh mango and lime, refreshing and delicious! Right to the entrées! Freshness is amazing at Amici. The house made pasta melts in your mouth and the sauces are wonderfully delicious. Rigatoni Bolognese was presented in a rich meat sauce that was hearty and complex with lots of amazing fresh herbal flavor. Chicken piccata was packed with flavor with just the right amount of capers. Cobb salad was also delicious with lots of fresh ingredients. Next time, we intend to try their highly rated pizza and even explore some major deliciousness on the dessert menu such as crème brûlée, warm chocolate chip cookie sundae, or what sounds like an amazing bread pudding! This came up on a couple of my social media accounts so I decided to give it a try with some friends. Unfortunately, we all agreed-- it was good but not sure we would come back. Our server was super friendly and gave us lots of recommendations. We ordered some appetizers, drinks, and pizza. The appetizers were good but nothing stood out. We had high hopes for the pizzas but again good but nothing stood out. I can't pin point it but just wasn't anything that I was like ok, this makes it stand out from other places. Love this new addition to South Reno. There were 5 of us and we all throughly enjoyed the entire experience. We shared the large Honey Heat Wave Pizza and the White Pizza. Both were excellent and even with 5 people, we had plenty of leftovers. Delicious. They have a full bar so something for everyone! The location is the former Lampost Pizza bit they have completely remodeled inside with a beautiful modern decor. Service was attentive and our waitress was super helpful. Tried Amici's with friends on a Friday at dinner time, so a wait was expected. The hostess quoted us 30 minutes, no problem. I gave her my name and number to call when our table was ready and mentioned we'd be next door at Brass Tap for a drink in the meantime (not sure why we couldn't just grab a drink in their own bar while waiting, but that didn't seem to be an option). One drink later, we were creeping up on 40 minutes with no call or text. We walked back over and I checked in with a different hostess, only to find my name crossed off the list with "no show" written next to it. When I asked why I never got a call or text, I was told they'd called my name out, in the restaurant, apparently, instead of actually calling my phone. To her credit, the hostess apologized for the mix-up and got us seated right away. Once seated, we were pleasantly surprised. The chairs were large, deceptively comfortable, and the right height for the table. The atmosphere was great too, a relaxed, comfortable vibe that's a big improvement over what used to occupy the space. Our waitress was clearly slammed; by the time she came over to say hello, we'd already had time to settle on drinks and food. We started with calamari for the table, solid breading, well done. But the real standout was the sauce that came with it. Not your traditional aioli, this was warm and absolutely outstanding alongside the calamari. Then two custom pizzas: a regular and a deep dish, split to accommodate a vegetarian in the group. Both came out as ordered and were good. Our friends are from Chicago, though, so they have very strong opinions on what pizza should be. (LOL) Overall, a good experience. There's room to improve on how they manage check-ins on busy nights, and service was a bit slow on the small requests. But the food and atmosphere were strong enough that we'll be back to give it another shot. read more

Fantastic ambiance! Loved all the club chairs, lower tables, and sports screens everywhere. Beautiful glass light feature right when you walk in! They kept the same bar layout as Lampost had, but everything else is completely different layout and fancy and swanky. My family came in a Friday night the week they opened. Husband got the animal burger, he loves it. Kids for the large spicy pizza and they liked it. I had a personal sized artichoke and chicken pizza, it was ok. Not many pizza options, unless getting the regular sized combos (No white sauce, no gluten free pizza, no anchovies) but I'll definitely come again and try something else. read more

My friend and I had an incredible meal! We had the artichoke appetizer, it was a huge artichoke halved, and roasted with Parmesan and a great garlic aioli. She had the chicken Parmesan sandwich which was a double decker. Yummy sauce and the best mozzarella! Side of onion rings... spot on. Checked out our new pizza / bar in So Reno and it's so good. The ambiance has great upscale vibe with a lounge area with big chairs, nice patio and indoor seating area and well as a bar/ gaming area. My tween daughters loved the music playing. We had pizzas and Cesar salad. the pizza crust was so crisp, flavorful, and really tasted fresh. The salad had a good flavor and was a good size for a single serving. Our table neighbors order a few desserts and they looked amazing, we definitely need to save room next time. So my wife and I decided to try the new restaurant in the old Lamp Post Pizza location, the inside has been totally redone and what great vibe, the decor is very nice! So we started it off with the roasted artichoke and the garlic aïoli that they serve with it was absolutely delicious. Great compliment to the grilled artichoke and the artichoke was tender well cooked and came apart and tasted wonderful. My wife had the Chicken Parm with the red mashed potatoes and vegetables, and I had the Chicken Marcella with double order of vegetables in both dishes were well prepared with good portions, great price and tasted marvelous. Came to Amici on Father's Day based on a fellow Elite Yelper's video review. It was busy, as expected, but we were seated immediately. The first thing I noticed was the variety of the menu. There were several items all of us wanted to try, which is always a great sign. Here is what we decided to order... The Chicken Parmn sandwhich, it was huge (big enough to share) and cooked to a perfect golden crisp. It was incredibly tender, juicy, and smothered in a flavorful marinara sauce with perfectly melted cheese. Animal Smash, holy cow it was ginormous! We could barely bite into it, but it was absolutely scrumptious. Chicken Piccata with Pasta, perfectly executed with a wonderfully bright, savory, and tangy sauce that paired beautifully with the pasta The meal took some some ti.e to come out but the sttaff handled the holiday rush wellespeciallyconsideringthis was their first holiday. Brand new, locally owned, really excited to try it. Here's how my experience went: The staff was all really nice and inviting. The owner who was there was very active and greeting guests. The food was just ok. The salad was nothing special. The pizza crust was tasteless and very thin. So thin, the toppings just slid off when I picked up a piece. Well, we came here as a group of 6 for a birthday dinner. MEH...I don't think anyone was very impressed by their food. I can say that my cocktail, a limonchello spritz, was fantastic. The service was pretty good, and the ambiance was nice, the food however was suboptimal. Most of the people at our table ordered a chicken dish, everyone felt like the chicken was premade, and tossed in the appropriate sauce for their dish. Someone said they thought their vegetables came out of a freezer bag. I ordered a shrimp appetizer, it had great flavor, but the shrimp were a little tough, like they were precooked as well. Bottom line: Atmosphere 4 stars Cocktail 5 stars Food 2 stars Oh, and we ordered an artichoke appetizer, and never received it, even after reminding them when we received the rest of our food. Finally when we finished eating, we told them to just cancel it. Sad thing is, that was supposed to be my dinner veggie, so I only ate shrimp for dinner. We wanted to give this place a chance and so we took some family out for a tasting! The service to start was pretty good however we never got refills on our drinks other than the alcoholic ones. OK the penne ala vodka was absolutely horrible and they only give you three shrimp for seven dollars. The pizza was extremely good and we highly recommend that. Also, their specialty cocktails were really good and can highly recommend that. Great Father's Day experience for lunch. They took over the spot fomerly Lamp Post pizza. What an improvement. Great seating, big screens, soft lighting. Service was on point. We ordered Chicken Parm, pizza, Cabrese salad and sliders (yes, sliders). Food was excellent, nice portions, pizza was a little doughy but now I know to ask for "crispy". We were visited by one of the partners, Tory(?) who shared some homemade Limoncello, it was excellent. So close to our home, will definitely be back. I am so incredibly disappointed. We were really looking forward to having a new pizza place to add to our rotation, but unfortunately, we won't be returning. We ordered three pizzas: the Heavy Hitter, the Honey Heat Wave, and a deep dish BBQ Chicken pizza. The New York-style pizzas were the biggest disappointment. The crust was hard, dry, and completely flavorless. My jaw is actually sore from chewing it, and I could only make myself eat half of each slice. The deep dish BBQ Chicken pizza had one positive, the crust was soft. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing I enjoyed. It was seriously lacking flavor. The BBQ sauce was sweet but didn't have much actual barbecue taste, and the chicken was incredibly dry. I managed three bites before giving up. Spending over $100 on dinner only to end up with pizza that no one wants to eat is incredibly disappointing. We have so much left over, and honestly, none of us wants to eat it.
