Finally made it to Pasta Fresca's restaurant! We had tried dropping in before on a busy weeknight, and they were completely booked. But we were randomly in the area again early one evening, and it was a perfect time to try out their restaurant. Have been searching for a go-to Italian restaurant (Reno has so many Italian options, but it's been surprisingly hard to find well done pasta), and this is it. Their homemade pasta, perfectly cooked (not mushy or too chewy) with juicy shrimp (tagliatelle agli scampi) was exactly right. Portion size was generous, and it came with complimentary bread (oil and balsamic). Unfortunately, not enough room for dessert, but will definitely be back either here or at their new downtown location! TIP: Definitely worth calling ahead. The table seating is somewhat limited, but well spaced, clean, and comfortable. Parking outside at the onsite lot for this small shopping center can also get crowded. Also, you can find them on Sundays at the Riverside farmer's market and pick up some convenient and delicious frozen pasta! read more

Nice little restaurant. Stellar pasta. We've had a variety of their pastas from their truck at the Idlewild farmers market, and they've all been consistently good, so we decided to stop by their restaurant for a meal. Very satisfied not just with the food but with the thoughtfulness of the preparation and the friendly attentive service. I got the special, which was salmon in parchment paper, which came with a side of pasta, and my wife got the tagliatelle with shrimp. Both phenomenal. I'd say their pasta is the best aspect of any dish they serve, but the proteins are also thoughtfully prepared. Maybe a bit on the pricey side, but the quality is there. read more

Best Italian food I've had in the States. Salad was perfect. The combination of honey and cheese created a flawless balance, that it wasn't bland at all, yet completely avoided being greasy or heavy. Carbonara was incredible and truly authentic. You can distinctly taste that they don't use cream (which is the real way to do it!). It wasn't oily, yet the flavor profile was incredibly rich, substantial, and deep. The Gelato was the cherry on top. The texture was dense and creamy, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It was actually better than what I've had at dedicated dessert shops. The service is also outstanding, The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I was so impressed that I happily left a 100% tip. They truly deserve it! read more

I've been to the original a few times and this is the first time at the new location. Definitely have a lot more space to work with accommodate large parties. Staff was very attentive and helpful, service was great. Menu seems pretty much the same to me. Burrata was well seasoned and disappeared quickly. I recommend anything with the vodka sauce, it's my go to option. They do offer specials off menu that they show on an iPad. Nice to see what the specials look like. One difference is that they serve two smaller cannolis instead of the single larger one, but still tastes great. Great place to go for simple and tasty house made pasta! read more

The food service and price was so mid compared to cost. It took 3 hours start and finish with only 3 other people in the restaurant. It's okay if the food was so good to cook but no. Our drinks stayed low and the food was so mid for how long it took and the price. If the service was good, and the food was cheaper it would be much more fair. But at the cost and what you get it was not worth coming back for. There's so many alternatives for good pasta in Reno that this doesn't make the cut for my go to restaurants. Edit: I love the sass, maybe if you emphasized the freshness i just assume it's Cisco because trust me you can taste fresh at Gastropub or other restaurants. But compound better service with the price and it will be good. Desert was great but once again for the price serving in plastic cups seemed off. Honestly if service was better I wouldn't bat an eye. What a great find in SW Reno. Wife had us go based on YELP reviews and they were spot on, 5 star all the way!!! All of the pasta is made fresh with varying specials all of the time. We had the vodka sauce-great flavor and spice. I had the arriabata with sausage and it was awesome. Good wine and beer selection, though they didn't have a Chianti by the glass. First of all, this a little bit more of an upscale Italian place, so change that shirt and put your pinky up. Oh, and make reservations if you have more than 2 people. We did not make reservations, but they got us right it, and it was so nice. Sometimes tables for 2 are just a little bit too small, this one was perfect. The staff are very presentable and kind, and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. If you like ice for your water you can ask for it, but if comes just cold in the bottle. The prices are fair, I was expecting them to be higher for the atmosphere. I'm guessing they make some if not all of their own noodles. I didn't see meatballs on the menu, so I added sausage to my delicious pasta plate. It was such a nice dinner, I was glad they got us in. read more

First of all, be prepared for the fact that this is a strip mall restaurant and it doesn't have any frills so if you want the ambiance or the Italian experience, you will be disappointed. That being said, considering that everything was booked for Valentine's Day by the time we looked for reservations a week ago, it was a decent substitution. The main thing I love is that everything is locally sourced and homemade. This alone warrants a visit. Support local!! You can even see they grow the garnishes themselves. Our food was pretty good and the price was somewhat reasonable. The portions do reflect that, however so be prepared for an average size meal. My husband had the spaghetti bolognese but he is a bit of a heathen and didn't like that the sauce is more traditional made with real tomatoes instead of a boiled down sauce. The meat was plentiful and he liked it. He loved his spaghetti noodles and could tell they made the noodles themselves. His only complaint was that there wasn't enough actual sauce to coat the noodles. He will live though. I ordered the salmon special which was $34 and substituted pesto for the vodka cream sauce (can't have tomatoes). I asked about pesto when I booked and expected a traditional pesto. This is more of a parmesan cream with a undertone of basil and I think a hint of lemon. It was tasty but it might be a good idea to explain that when someone orders it. The menu items should also say creamy pesto just to balance expectations. My salmon was perfectly cooked. This shouldn't be a highlight, but more often than not. Places tend to overcook salmon, which ruins the flavor and texture. This was perfectly soft and flaked, a light flavor except the parts with whole pieces of shaved garlic. Those were my favorite bites and they did not skimp on the capers. Yum! We automatically ask for no chili flakes on anything regardless of what the menus say because chefs love to add it for color, but they genuinely do serve everything with chili flakes per our server. So let them know if you can't have anything with heat. We opted not to have dessert but they had the cutest heart shaped tiramisu in the dessert case. You'll probably like this better as a to go restaurant or a quick service kindof meal. I would really like to try the raviolis, and hopefully I'll be able to next time. I initially chose between the lobster ravioli with cream sauce and the salmon which I ended up getting. It's the first time i've actually had real tasting homemade pasta since having Original Joe's in San Francisco so I imagine the ravioli will be bomb. read more

My daughter and I have been coming here for four years. We always loved dining here and enjoyed every experience. They make my daughter's favorite spaghetti marinara. With that we've always had very good service here but the last time we went it just wasn't up to par with what we were used to. The young lady with the short hair was frankly kind of rude, didnt speak to us much or tell us what was going on, and acted as if were an inconvenience. She seemed like maybe she never served before. Which for $20-40 dollars a plate I would expect good experienced service. Pasta Fresca is the kind of gem that makes you fall in love with supporting local businesses. My boyfriend and I came in for dinner and ordered the nightly special: gnocchi with creamy pesto sauce. Hands down, the BEST gnocchi we've ever had. Perfectly tender, stuffed with cheese in the center, and paired with a sauce that was rich without being heavy. It was absolute perfection. We casually asked if they ever sold their gnocchi to cook at home, and to our surprise, they said no one had ever asked - but of course, yes! They sent us home with two packages, along with some extra cheese and tips on the best way to prepare it. We cooked it the next night, and it was still the best gnocchi we've ever had. The food is phenomenal, but what makes Pasta Fresca truly special is the generosity and heart of the people who run it. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, and you can tell how much pride they take in their craft. We like supporting Mom Pop type business, so this our first time to Pasta Fresca, I want to start off by saying the dinning room is a bit plan, open setting, The dinning room has all the great traditional Italian kitchen aromas, with the garlic, basil, all the delicious smells you get in an Italian kitchen. We ordered a glass of the Alexander Valley cab and an iced tea. The young man took our order at the same time, my wife had the spicy rigatoni with chicken and I had the pink spicy sauce with cappellini and shrimp. We also ordered arugula house special salad. This is were the dining experience starting to go sideways. Young men who took our order, asked us if we wanted bread and we said yes however we never got the bread, we had to ask for it again. We eat our arugula salad, and got our main courses before we received the glass of wine and the bottle of iced tea we had ordered. The food service was absolutely horrible. However, the food was outstanding the cappellini with the pink sauce and the shrimp was absolutely delicious and the spicy rigatoni, red sauce with chicken was filling and rich and delicious. The young men they have working as food servers are detrimental to your business it's almost like a comedy hour , and it didn't end it only got worse true amateur hour! One young man came over and took our order for dessert, we ordered a cannoli and one lemon tiramisu. After 27 minutes I got a hold of our waiter the young man who took her order the first time and told him just cancel the desserts and give us our check with sarcastic grin, he said sorry that the desserts didn't come, but next time you should've ordered them from me and not the other young man! The food was really good, but the service was horrible. The young men are very inexperienced at food serving and we probably won't be back for a while. There are a lot better options in Reno and this place just serves pasta. They don't even have meatballs on the menu so if you're really looking for just pasta and you're willing to be patient with their really lousy servers, then this is the ideal place to go. My go-to pasta restaurant whenever I am in Reno for work. The pink spicy vodka sauce with rigatoni and truffle ravioli is always a chef's kiss. I have been here so many times that I am disappointed at myself for not already having a review for Pasta Fresca. This is truly my happy place, something about the homemade pastas, unlimited complimentary fresh warm bread dipped in a balsamic vinegar and olive oil mixture and watching the chefs top the pasta with a freshly snipped herb. Pasta Fresca has their everyday signature pastas, but during every visit, there's always at least one special item. Be sure to ask for the daily specials because you never know what they offer until you ask if they didn't already tell you. This is the third time we've been to Pasta Fresca, and they never cease to deliver on some great food. We came in on a Saturday, an hour and a half before closing and luckily snagged a spot (I recommend on getting reservations for Friday and Saturday spots). Pasta Fresca has hands down the best ravioli I've ever had--and I've been to just about every Italian spot in Reno/Sparks. If you're a ravioli lover, this place is a must-try. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I would come back just for that dish alone! That said, the menu is pretty limited, which I understand given the small space, but I do wish they had a few more options. I tried a salad that was on special, and it was pretty underwhelming. The lasagna was a bit plain for my taste, and the spaghetti bolognese was decent but not memorable. Service, however, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We have been coming here multiple times and of course for special occasions. Paulo & Carlos always take great care of us and accommodate our large groups of 15+ at times. Their menu is very short and sweet. limited to only specials and of course build your own pasta. Their pasta is fresh made and you can tell in the dishes. the sauces (spicy vodka sauce is amazing) compliment the pastas incredibly, Great dishes to note: Lobster Ravioli, and Mushroom Ravioli with pesto drizzle. if you ask them they will recommend a great wine to pair with the dishes. Wow! Amazing Italian food. I tried their bolognese and added some chicken, hands down best bolognese I ever had. Good portion as well. Liking spicy foods I added their crushed Calabrian chili peppers and it was super yummy. They sell jars of chili for $10 which was awesome. My partner ordered the special, lobster ravioli, it was really creamy flavorful, nice presentation and the ratio of meat to pasta was good. They served us warm fresh bread and we even got seconds. Dipping in vinegar and oil it was delicious. Service was great and friendly. Ordered some dessert for later and was a happy camper. Attended dinner here with friends as a party of 9. They are locals and go quite often so of course recommended we come here when Italian was mentioned. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and all 9 of us enjoyed the entrees that we ordered. Smaller menu as far as selection of items go but it is quite specialized with a nice selection of wines that also included a bubbly option. Dessert was absolutely delicious, we ordered one of each and definitely devoured them-- quickly!!
