Love love everything about Amici Sushi My favorite restaurant in Lathrop from day 1 :) the Tempura is fresh and crispy the teriyaki chicken is the best. The restaurant is always very clean & service is a thumbs up.

    Excellent unfiltered sake

Extraordinary special place- food, decor and SERVICE was outstanding! Even the other customers were so friendly and kind. Highly recommend the tempura, and the sashimi tapas. Also if the Japanese cheesecake is available as a special dessert, don't pass it up! We were fortunate to enjoy a really lovely conversation with Shawn and Julie the hard working proprietors of this awesome restaurant, once you meet them you can easily understand their faithful customer following .

Service and food is always a 10/10 whenever we come. Nice mom and pop shop with very friendly owners. We were seated right away and had our order taken. We got Uni Nigiri and the Deluxe Sashimi Moriwase. Uni was incredible, filling, and melted in my mouth. The sashimi pieces were thick and delicious. Overall great service and great food.

I was in a time crunch when it came down to my daughter's dinner schedule. While I would have rather gone to a sushi spot closer to home, home was technically over an hour away. I did the next best thing and hopped on Yelp and stumbled across Amici Sushi. Ratings looked pretty good so I made the decision to dine. The establishment from outside is beautiful. The interior was just as easy on the eyes but it was limited in size. Our family of 3 was seated fairly quickly while there was an additional 4 parties already in the middle of dining. The menu is pretty big. Our family of 3 settled with: *California Roll [made with real crab] *Sushi Moriawase- 10pc chef's nigiri assortment. Comes with miso soup & salad. *Crunch & Munch- shrimp tempura & snow crab salad. Roll topped with Hokkaido Scallops *Tempura *Hot Tea *Iced Tea The best things eaten that night was the sushi moriawase nigiri assortment. Sushi rice wasn't great but the cuts of seafood were plentiful. Everything else was a solid disappointment. The miso soup was salty, the California Roll was one of the worst CA rolls I had ever eaten. At $12 a roll, the roll clearly states real crab is used and what a waste of real crab it was- Crab portion was stingy, flavorless, and tough to eat because everything fell apart. The Crunch & Munch, again, had real snow crab salad included. The crab salad was flavorless, unappetizing, and did not justify the $21 price tag. 1 star because presentation was great. 1 star because staff was nice. Other than that, this sushi spot is greatly overpriced. I admit it, I am sooooo sooo spoiled in SJ and these kind of establishments just don't do it for me. HARD PASS.

Sushi Moriawase, very traditional, fish to rice ratio is perfect!

Great food, good service, nice and cozy, small but clean mom and pop place. Sushi Moriawase was oishi, can't get any traditional than that. Tempura was really good, thin and crispy batter. Gyoza was crispy and deliciously fried, and the sauce was amazing! Tuna and Salmon Kama is a must try if you love grilled fish. One of a few Japanese restaurants that serves Orion beer (originally from Okinawa), love it! I'm definitely coming back, and will recommend this place to friends and family. Sean and his wife (owner) were very friendly too!

Sashimi $45 for 10 pieces?! Overpriced

45.00 for sashimi 10 pieces is wild. Service was alright. I also had a spider roll it was alright. 6/10. Most likely enjoy the beer more than the food.

    Sushi and Tempura

Tried this sushi spot for the first time. Location was clean and staff was very friendly. 10/10 for service and sushi was 10/10 as well as the combination tempura! Thank you!

I'm a kind of tradition Japanese person. I used to go into the U.S. o-sushi restaurants in the 1980s and talk to the o-sushi preparer in Japanese to make sure he was licensed in Japan, to be sure about the safety of the food. Coming back to California, the flash freeze rule takes care of the safety, and usually changes the texture of the fish. I don't go many places to eat o-sushi because it isn't traditional. Today, the couple who own the house wanted to get sashimi. They couldn't agree on a place, so we ended up here. In ten years of living in the area, and several times in this parking lot, I'd never been to Amici Sushi. We were greeted quickly and felt welcome. Prices on the menu got our attention. We ended up with $132 something for three people. I guess that isn't awful when Jack in the Box can be $14 for one person. I ordered the sashimi/sushi lunch combo, which came with salada and miso soup. Price was not bad. They ordered a teriyaki/sashimi combo, poke salada, kimchi salada, spicy niku (meat) udon, and crab roll. Salada and miso soup arrived after a while. It wasn't very busy and we had the second table occupied out of three. The people who arrived with children ordered before we did, so we had to wait a bit. Salada seemed small. As well, the kimchi salada and the poke salada were small. The plate was huge which made it seem even less in size but they weren't big. I'm not a foodie, so my perception is different, I'm certain. The fish was surprisingly good. I've had sashimi in two other places in Manteca and Lathrop and they were barely adequate. Go to a traditional Japanese restaurant in Japan, New Jersey, or Gardena and you'll see what I mean. The sushi was unusual for me. I'm accustomed to rice on the bottom and fish on the top or maki zushi with seaweed around it. This was a roll without the seaweed. They fell apart but they had good flavor. It was a good experience, especially since we weren't their regular type of customer.

This place is absolutely amazing. Best in the valley in my opinion. Super clean restaurant. Owner is realy nice and personable. Very fast service. 5/5 Now lets get to the food. Sashimi is placed on top of a mountian of crushed ice so it remains cold. Fish is fresh and next texture. The sake melts in your mouth. The uni is a 10/10. Large portion and well worth your money. Comparable to fresh uni from japan. Definitely will be back very soon.

The sushi is pretty good for the central valley. It seems fresher than Raw Sushi Bistro, and the prices seem more fair. If you get the chirashi bowl, it comes with fresh wasabi which is a nice touch. The hamachi kama was a little dry. I ordered the pork tonkatsu and it had a nice crispy Panko crust. It was well cooked. Service is good, and the restaurant has a modern feel to it. Overall a very decent sushi restaurant

Love this place! The California rolls are made with real crab, which is a big deal to me. The udon and rolls were delish!! Very friendly staff, little short staffed but the waiter was on his game. It's a nice spot for a quick date or family outing. It's pricier than some local spots, but you absolutely get what you pay for. We will be back!

Ask the Community - Amici Sushi

Can they do rolls with no rice? I saw a few pictures of cucumber rolls and was wondering what it was called? I'm doing keto and craving sushi bad lol

Yes! I asked Shawn to prepare my role with cucumber wrapped around it instead of rice. I get the red ocean with cucumber, it's delicious!!! Highly recommend it. I think he should name it Tiffini's Ocean, 😆!

Does anyone know if they have vegetarian "sushi"? I know that's sacrilege in the sushi business, but I love me some good veggie "sushi"!

The owner is awesome at accommodating special requests so you should be fine with getting "good veggie sushi".

Decided to eat here before watching a movie at AMC theater right next door on a Friday night…read more I was hoping that their Japanese food would be good but was disappointed by it. Firstly- garlic spicy edamame - felt it was rushed to make. The edamame was firm and not soft and there was no real spice or garlicky taste to it. For it being $9.95 whereas the steam edamame was $5.50, definitely not worth it. 2 stars Baby lobster roll- California topped with lobster pieces and eel sauce was pleasantly good. 5 stars Chicken teriyaki dinner - half the plate was filled with salad and an okay miso dressing. The chicken was just ordinary. I got tired of it quick and couldn't finish it. To me, it wasn't as good as my fav Japanese restaurant on how it's prepared, so for that I give it 3 stars. (Wouldn't order it again) My wife had the salmon teriyaki and she finished the rice but left a lot of salmon on her plate. No grade since I didn't try it. The positive is the staff was really friendly and attentive. 5 stars Now that I've tried Matsu Sushi, I don't think I would eat here if waiting to watch a movie at AMC. They have a great spot being next to the theater but sadly, not impressed with the food that I would want to spend over $100 to eat here (3 people)

Food was so much better this time around than the last time I had been there. They really must've had a bad night when I had gone previously. Small restaurant in the of a little strip mall off of Main Street. They serve classic Chinese American food and unlike most places in the Bay Area that are family style dishes preferably on a Lazy Susan during dinner time. They offer rice plates, or combo plates for individuals, similar to lunch specials. I selected several dishes and asked the server which was the most popular amongst the dishes I chose, and she let me know the salt and pepper fish, which I got with chow mein. We also ordered shrimp & broccoli, and sweet-and-sour pork. Everything appeared made to order and looked very fresh. From grandma to the babes everyone was happy with their food. Mine was more on the plain Jane with just fried fish, luckily it came with sliced jalapeños to give it a kick. Next time I'll order a spicy eggplant dish. This is a good place to go to if you're with a group of picky eaters. Price is very reasonable, especially for dinner.

7/5 /25 Update 3/5 This has been a long time coming…read moreunfortunately. Ever since the previous owners sold the place the quality has dropped significantly. Consistency has been a major issue not only with food but with policy. When they first took over I'm sure there were some learning curves and maybe tweaks to the recipes. I wanted to give them a fair shot to get things right. Not sure if the old cooks stayed or if they got new ones? Did the new owners have the recipes changed? Did they change suppliers of ingredients, etc, I just don't know. What I can tell you though is that at least some of the dishes are different and are off from what I remember. The general Tao sauce I thought tasted different but necessarily bad. But combine that with a definite lack of crisp/crunch with the fried items and that's gonna be a problem for me. This time around, I only got the general tao beef because unlike my previous visit, they did not allow me to order the general tao beef in the combo plate as in upcharge (just last week or the week before it was allowed). I've been multiple times since the change in ownership. Partly because of the convenience of the location and partly because of the hope that whatever meal I eat at any given time will at least satisfy my fix for their type of Chinese American food. Unfortunately, the fried items I loved so much like orange chicken, sweet and sour pork and general tao beef alike are all severely lacking the crunch from the fry. As of late I've been getting the General Tao Beef to track consistency and it's been consistently under cooked in terms of the batter. The beef itself has been rubbery and to the point where I can't even break apart a piece and end up having to eat it whole lots of times. The other problem is that the pieces are large inconsistently cut (sometimes with, sometimes against the grain) strips making for a difficult chew. And because of the lack of crunch the fried battered outside just falls apart when you bite or try to cut it apart. The last two visits, but especially this one considering I ordered extra crunchy, were severely undercooked and soggy. it was to the point this time where I basically had to scrape off the majority of the batter and just eat the rubbery beef inside. It really does bring me pain to drastically drop the rating of a place that I once loved. I hope one day they can make the fixes so that I can continue to enjoy their food once again. I gave them a 3/5 but honestly, it probably should have been 2/5. I think the chicken with hot garlic sauce might be just good enough to keep it at 3/5 even though the last three times I ordered it. It was inconsistently hot (with cold spots) temperature wise.

Instead of looking into the situation objectively, management appeared to take the employee's side without properly hearing my concerns. I brought my concerns to the manager hoping the staff would be coached on professionalism and respectful communication. Instead, a complaint was reportedly made against me on the platform claiming that I was rude. I strongly disagree with that claim and feel that my concerns were ignored rather than fairly investigated. As a driver who was simply trying to do my job, I felt unfairly treated and discriminated against. Delivery drivers deserve the same level of respect and professionalism as customers.
