My dad suggested King Pho Vietnamese for lunch today, so we decided to give it a try. We started with the fresh spring rolls--two rolls cut in half. They were served with more of a hoisin-style sauce instead of the typical peanut sauce. A little different, but still had good flavor overall. My dad ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was much bigger than what you usually get at other places. He said it was really good and definitely filling. ($6.95) I ordered the mild beef stew pho. It wasn't quite what I'm used to--the meat wasn't the typical stew cut and had more fat and gristle, with only a few pieces of beef. It wasn't my favorite, but the broth itself had good flavor. It also came with rice noodles, carrots, and even a couple pieces of lettuce, which was a bit different. Looking around, other dishes coming out looked really good. I'd definitely come back to try one of their sandwiches next time. Service was quick approx 30 seats. I've been a couple of times for to-go orders. They're a bit inconsistent. Sometimes the meats are a bit dry and tough. Even when the chicken is moist it's unfortunate the taste is lacking often. My guess is that they prepare the food far in advance and just reheat the food as needed; sometimes there to go orders are ready way too quick so quality suffers. Also their fish sauce doesn't do it for me. It has no zing compared to those that other restaurants have. This is a pretty small restaurant but they manage to fit a decent number of tables. One of the few things that have going for them is that they are cheap. I feel like $11+ tax for a grilled chicken rice plate is unheard of these days. And they don't skimp out on the chicken, it's a good portion size. read more

I got the pork bahn mi 6.95 other locations in Manteca charge almost double and my kids got a large meatball pho for about 12.50!!! Idk when the last time I got pho for that price at a restaurant! Food was delicious, I would say for me, this is the best place to get your bahn mi in Manteca. It is so good. Do not miss out on at least trying it. I have only ever ordered the pork bahn mi for myself, but my boyfriend has had the beef bahn mi, he liked it, but said the pork was just a little bit better. However, I will say, even after he said that he still got another beef bahn mi when we ordered from here a third time. Thai tea is yummy. We will be trying more items here in the future! read more

Tasty tasty pho! I got the daily special (mini brisket pho with the grilled pork and rice) and my spouse got a large #21. Really delicious broth and totally hit the spot for a late evening meal. Five star system (food taste, food presentation, value, ambience and service) 1 star for value - based on what you pay and what you get... this place fits the bill 1 star for service - service was quick and everything was done with a smile 1 star for food taste - the broth was smooth and beefy... noodles were just the right amount of chew... the grilled pork and the rice delivered just the right amount of umami to make your taste buds satisfied and wanting more! 1 star for food presentation. My husband and i stopped in Manteca for Lunch and was "ASTONISHED" with this little hole in the wall restaurant. I had a Vermicelli Noddle Rice Bowl with the Grilled Pork and Fresh Salad mix. The PORTIONS of grilled pork that they put on top was very generous. Also they have fresh spring rolls with Grilled Pork were outstanding so big and full of MEAT... The portions are very generous and the vegetables are FRESH. Most importantly this restaurant is Affordable for a large family to EAT comfortably. My husband a bowl of the PHO and there were generous portions of noodles and meet and the condiments were bunch of Thai basil. Came here for dinner while staying at the Great Wolf Lodge, and we had a pleasant meal. We tried their king pho, fried wontons, garlic shrimp with butter rice. The pho broth was really good. For the king pho, they gave you tons of meat! The filling in the fried wontons tasted ok, too garlicky. This is a true hidden gem. I decided to try something different than pho this time, so I got the porkchop and eggroll combo. I was blown away. The seasoned rice was great, egg rolls were homemade, and the porkchops were full of flavor and tender. The price was so reasonable too! My total was about $15. The restaurant is small inside but clean and cozy. The staff is very helpful and attentive, and service is pretty fast. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to stop by to try other items. Just an update on thier chili oil they sell. It's on thier counter next to the register. It's a or like a Sichuan style chilli oil. Black beans and all.. spicy dark notes chilli oil.. refrigerate the chili oil after opening. It didn't and mold grew on the rim of the jar. I've determined that there is no better pho place around the Central Valley then King pho!!! In Manteca The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is absolutely amazing! It is why every time I go I hear people slurrping up the rice noodles because apparently it is a compliment to the chef when one does this! I always order the white chicken breast pho and the chicken is perfectly cooked not chewy not hard and again the flavors are on point! I've also had the spring rolls and the fried rolls everything here is fresh and prepared with distinct flavors! I hope that someday they expand and open one in Riverbank or Modesto, but until then I won't mind traveling 25 miles for some good Pho! read more

I was craving a Bánh mì while in Manteca which is a small town with actually a decent amount of Vietnamese restaurants. King Pho is one of those and while I do hear mixed reviews about their Pho from what I see on Yelp or the person sitting across from me at the table. I don't even care because their Bánh mì here is that good. If you aren't in love with their Pho at least try their sandwiches because wow is it amazing. The store is small, but clean and the service is overall pretty solid. I ordered the Bánh mì Sandwich with Grilled pork Meat ($6.95). It costs a little extra for Beef or Chicken so I just opted for Pork and it was a good choice. The BBQ Pork they use is so well marinated and so juicy. It had a nice char to it. The bread they used is also top tier. The bread had a nice crisp on the outside and was soft and fluffy on the inside. From my picture you can also tell it was loaded with jalapeño, cilantro, the mix of pickled carrots/daikon (Đồ Chua), and what I don't often see added which is tomatoes. It was the perfect combo and ratio ingredients. This was such a good sandwich and I am a fan. Easy 10/10 for me. If you are coming here and aren't sure what to get then their Bánh mì is a no brainer. We were on the hunt for a Vietnamese restaurant to try. We stumbled upon this place on yelp and we decided to check this place out for dinner. This is by far the best we've tried in the area. We ended up coming to the restaurant to place our items to-go. The wait didn't take that long. Update again 8/2025 ordered take out 3 banh mi grilled pork and didn't change me an extra fee. Staff friendly and smiled, Generous on the meat, fresh, delicious! They even started making their own baguettes egg shell crispy they never did before in the past. With the weather getting chilly, pho is fitting go-to meal for me (especially when we cannot decide what to eat). This would be a 3.5, but I'd round up as there isn't half stars to be given. Walking in, you're instantly hit with the warm 5 spices scent - definitely the scent I look for in every pho spot. This feels like a small mom n pop shop, not the best for large groups, but probably able to accommodate if needed. As much as I wanted pho, cơm tấm sounded better for me since I wanted rice and fish sauce mix. It was nice to see add-on options to a very reasonably price rice plate. I opted for Grilled Pork with steamed rice + side of broth + 2 fried eggs. Bf got Pho with beef balls. We also got a side of shrimp/pork spring rolls. Gỏi cuốn is one of my favorite foods, so I kind of have to have it every time it's on the menu. Spring rolls: The roll basically just tasted of lettuce (no herbs - mint/green onion), bland unless smothered with the peanut/hoisin sauce. Pork was very dry and a bit tough, shrimp kind of was lost with the lettuce taste. The wrapper was very loose (not loose wrapping, but like overcooked rice paper), not much of a bite to it. Sauce had a good balance with chopped peanuts on top for texture, definitely needed to me. Grilled Pork with steamed rice: The rice isn't the typical broken rice, just normal long grain that was on the dry side (worked great with fish sauce over it). Pork was made with lemon grass, had good flavor and was cooked nicely. Eggs I got, one was over-easy and another was over-hard - works just fine with everything all together. As for the broth, it was very perfumed - make me think it's heavier on cinnamon or a sweeter spice (different that what was for the pho). Pho with Beef Balls: It was a good portion with very light broth, works nicely with hoisin/sriracha base (RIP og Sriracha). Final Thoughts: This would be a good place for a quick meal as service was very efficient and friendly. Tastes does leave me with a bit to be desired (family from Vietnam), but it's honestly not bad. read more

Ended up getting one order of shrimp spring roll, one large king pho special and added shrimp, one large pho with well done flank and steak, and one pork bahn mi. Ordered in person for takeout and it took about 15 minutes which was very understandable as it was during lunch hour and it was pretty busy. Main reason for the 2 stars was as our food was ready, I asked for 3 chili oil sauce and they tell me they can ONLY give me 2 with no explanation. After paying for 4 items, you're telling me that you can only give me 2 chili oils? That must mean this is some top notch pho and bahn mi, right? After getting home to try everything, it wasn't anything special. The pho was okay but I'd definitely recommend going to Rice and Roll'd for pho instead. The spring roll was okay also. Same goes with the bahn mi and the bad part about the bahn mi was it's such a small sandwich. I'd suggest going to Cafe Aroma for bahn mi instead of this place as the quality and proportion at Cafe Aroma is way better than here. All in all, this place is not worth checking out especially if they're going to be stingy with their sauce. I probably should've requested to get the tip back also. read more
