Ordered delivery, the food was overall disappointing. The bacon cheeseburger was pretty tasty. But the fries were very oily and soggy. The Kids chicken bites were all breading and almost no chicken. The NY Strip was gray on the outside and not properly cooked. It also didn't come with any sides, it was just the steak in a box. Maybe delivery isn't the way to go with this place, or maybe it was just an off night for them. But I wouldn't recommend it except for the burger. read more

Had a fun time here, I definitely have it on my list to come back. There's very good value here, house wine is only $6 and the sandwiches are all reasonably priced. We didn't order a steak but the prices for them are very good too. My wife ordered a burger and I had the chicken matteo. The waitress we had sucked and ignored us on purpose. I think I pissed her off when I asked her why they don't have baked potatoes. Haha. If you want potatoes with your entree, you're forced to eat pre-made mashed potatoes with cream and butter in them already. I have only gone here twice and only for cocktails and appetizers. Everything was great and the wait staff very friendly. I love their Old Fashioned. Strong and just the right sweetness. The brussel sprouts, spinach artichoke dip, tuna appetizer, and the life changing nachos were all excellent. The waiter told me that if my life was not changed by the nachos, I should give it a little time. I'll let you know! If you go for happy hour, the apps are half price. read more

Give this new restaurant a try! Second visit to this new restaurant. Parking is less than stellar, but worth finding a spot to experience the food. There are two dining areas, and one large bar area. The entrance way dining room is a bit crowded and loud, but it gives you that "tavern like feel". A new arrangement of tables could be in order, and way to diminish the noise level. This sounds negative, but it is merely a few suggestions to bring things up a notch. Service first time was better as it was a bit slower, but waitstaff are aware and very very accommodating. First visit I was pleased with size, presentation, and taste of Cobb Salad. Plates are wooden planks..different. Other patron had braised ribs..excellent..served with risotto. Well worth both choices. Second visit, I had chicken fajitas...presented nicely, but not so generous with the chicken portion and other ingredients to make several fajitas. Other patron had half rack of ribs, delicious, yet a bit on fatty side. Sides were great, with exception of ice cold corn on the cob. Waitress came right back with steamy new corn on the cob. Dessert was as easy as ice cream swirl...generous portion and hot coffee. All in all, this place is worth the visit. They are working out the kinks and you can see them trying to please customers. Their other restaurant has been nothing but stellar, so it should be assumed this will also be the same. read more

Went here for dinner tonight. Cute ambiance-- wood floors, large frosted windows, high ceilings. They give you a bowl of popcorn when you are seated-- love it. We were seated at 7:20, and our waters were filled right away. We ordered drinks and it took several minutes for them to arrive. No one came to take our order until 7:45. That is waaay too long to wait. Menu is very standard. Well, there are some fun meat based egg rolls for apps AND spiked milkshakes (which I am likely to go back and try some time). Everything else can be found at any "American" restaurant-- wings, nachos, the four basic salads all places have, regular sandwich menu (but their fries did look delicious). I got the salmon, mashed potatoes and green beans and my husband had the beef stew. The food came out within 15 minutes of ordering. The restaurant was fairly full so that timing was reasonable. The salmon was delicious and green beans were cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes, however, were barely mashed. There was half a small potato and other large chunks of potato. Not sure how any place can get the "mashing" part wrong. The report on the beef stew is that it was "fine" but the potatoes in it were slightly burnt. The portions, while adequate, were definitely on the small side. No chance of having leftovers. Overall, a disappointment. A decent enough place but there are better so other than to try their fries and milkshakes, I won't go there for a full meal again. read more

Went to Amici's North Haven first time today for a work related function. I haven't been out to a restaurant since Covid started on March, so I was really looking forward to this. Starting off drinks were very good and I was enjoying myself. Sorry to say that my dinner was a disappointment. I had the chicken saltimbocca. There was zero breading on it. When I asked if I was given the correct dish I was told that the breading often falls off while cooking. (?) The dish was also so salty that it was almost inedible. I did eat it because A).lunch was a LONG time ago and I needed something to sop up those cocktails pronto and b) with restaurants struggling as they are it seemed wasteful to send it back. Could just have been the entree choice. Others at the table were happy with their dishes. Service was.good and.our waitress pleasant. Will give it another try sometime. read more

Michael and his staff were very accomodating in providing an outdoor, socially-distant space (under a tent) for our family luncheon after a funeral. We were able to choose from several different menus in advance. The entrees we chose were all delicious.and the proportions were abundant. The staff was very attentive and service was excellent. The food here is excellent. As far as pub style food goes, this place is tough to beat. They put creative twists on bar food and have a wide variety of options. The nachos are fantastic as are the burgers....flavorful and perfectly cooked. Everything I've tried here has been great. The beer selection is typically very solid but can be hit or miss. I tend to sit at the bar but there is also a good-sized ding area. Service has always been friendly. In North Haven, I find this to be the best option overall. read more

This place was highly recommended to us, but I'm not sure what all the hype is. The food was fine but at least the things we ordered were a bit bland and I wasn't really impressed. I got a tavern burger, and tried a bite of the fried mozzarella. We also got a soft pretzel appetizer. When outdoor seating began I felt comfortable right away with cleanliness and hygiene and as always the food was amazing and now today I came again a little too sunny to eat outside and wanted to feel and see atmosphere now that indoor seating is allowed and Megan and staff extremely professional and following all social distancing guidelines to a T! Returned due to my blatant love for Cafe Amici - had to give this one another chance. Glad I did because it was a very different experience. Took my father (73) here for lunch after his mother's memorial service last week. He "couldn't understand why the fries were so delicious" - they were the fries covered in short ribs appetizer. He was only able to finish half of his steak and cheese but happily took home his leftovers as well as mine - an amazing salad that he kept inquiring about as I ate it - despite always dodging my forcing salad at him with the excuse that the greens throw off his coumidin tests (no, they dont). I would not recommend. The service was fine but the food I ordered was horrible. I ordered the special... open face rib eye sandwich. The piece of meat was very grainy and mostly fat. I had to spit out the first bite. The meat had a funny smell, like it was old or about to go bad. Was going to send the dish back but didn't feel like causing a scene. Actually feeling a bit nauseous as I'm writing this. The second dish we ordered was the tuna and the menu didn't specify that it was a raw dish. Tuna was okay but nothing special. First time visitor into area and searched "steakhouses" with the help of the Yelp app The server mentioned that it was "Happy Hour" and that appetizers were half price. So I decided on trying the Steak Eggrolls with a side of Chipotle Aoli. They were so delicious I ended up ordering two. Entree was a very well seasoned NY Strip cooked to a medium rare temperature . I went for a lunch meeting with a client. The ambiance is great, it as a charming tavern feel but very tasteful. The service was friendly and quick. I had the grilled romaine salad with chicken and it was DELICIOUS. I have heard of grilled romaine before and was curious and Amici nailed it. My client had the meatloaf, and she said it was the most amazing meatloaf she has ever had. The portions are big, so plan on taking home leftovers. I love that the food is served on wood planks. You get popcorn for the table to snack on that is made fresh. The bar is nice and open and they have an outdoor patio. I will add to the review once I go for dinner, going for lunch was nice but I could not take advantage of the beer and wine selection, which is very decent. Update****** loaded fries with short ribs, truffle aioli and cotija are the best fries I ever had......and also the stuffed squash flowers with roasted corn, ricotta, and basil were amazing. The place is cute- it definitely seems like a local place, but not a divey place. If I lived closer I could definitely see myself being a regular. The staff seems nice and the bar seems to draw a pretty regular (but not too big) crowd. The caprese salad was good and we went with the nachos that I read were amazing. They were very good. Different, but very good. The drinks weren't great- I'd stick with wine or beer if I went back. Overall, good nachos, pretty good service, and decent prices. read more

We were given a gift card to this restaurant and I had never even heard of it. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! I'm not sure where to start but if you're eating there...let's just say start with the "life altering" nachos (as another reviewer put it)! They are amazing and nothing like any other nachos you've ever had. We also had the egg roll trio (buffalo chicken, cheeseburger, and steak) that comes with a trio of sauces - horseradish sauce, a chipotle sauce and a hot sauce; all equally delicious. The outer wrapping is delightfully crisp and not greasy at all. The flavors are great. The blueberry lemonade cocktail was sweet and refreshing, highly recommend it. The cucumber martini was on the complete opposite spectrum, strong, crisp with a touch of saltiness and packed a serious punch with Hendrick's gin. Both delicious but cocktails in general I find to be pricey at any restaurant and these were $10 each. It's an easy way to drive up a bill so be forewarned. My husband and friends had the french onion soup which they described as "light" and flavorful. The burgers are hand formed and cooked to order and hubby is always happy when he can get a rare burger and it actually comes rare; big thumbs up! Fish tacos are made with tilapia (my only disappointment with the menu) however since scrod was on the menu as a special they happily substituted it for me. The taco shells were a cross between a soft taco and a hard one. A flour tortilla lightly fried to a perfect texture so as not to break when you bite it. The lime crema was seriously delicious. The only issue for me was that I thought the french fries were too salty. Had they not had so much salt on them, they would have easily been ranked in the top 5 of french fries in history, but I am sensitive to salt so most people may disagree on that. The grilled romaine salad with the addition of grilled chicken (for only $3) was charred perfectly, had a wonderful flavor, and was HUGE. As if that wasn't all enough, we had to try the apple fritter dessert that is served with the most buttery and decadent caramel sauce that completely complimented the tart granny smith fried apple. I don't think I've ever had something so delicious. This restaurant is a keeper and I'm only sorry we hadn't been here before but we will most definitely be back. My boyfriend and I love this place!! We have been here multiple times and every time has been awesome. We have had the filet mignon with the Gorgonzola, mushroom cream, and regular amici steak sauce and they are all fantastic. My personal favorite is the Gorgonzola cream sauce. We also got the cinnamon rolls for desert which were also fantastic! You really can't go wrong here. The cocktails and beer selection are also very good and the service is great! GREAT new place for Stephen and Michael of Cafe Amici's fame! I had the Filet Mignon with 2 vegetables (hold the potatoes) and it was GREAT! (I know where they get their meat locally). The bar is a good "see and been seen "u-bar" with no center island blocking your view of all others. Nice dining area as well. They will do well as they have a good reputation of good restaurateurs knowing where each other's strengths lie in where they each concentrate. Try it, you'll like it!! I had drinks, apps and dinner there and I was pleasantly surprised. Our appetizer was delicious, very fresh and I had salmon with jalepeno grits and lima beans. The grits were so creamy and lima beans a a slight kick to them. Will be going back to try some of their other wonderful dishes. When I heard Amici was coming to North Haven I was excited. This location has had a few restaurants since On Broadway started out here years ago. I've been here twice and was pleased with both the food and service both times. Our waitress (Ashley) for my first visit was sweet and attentive. I forget who waited on us the second time, but he was good as well. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. They've nailed the tavern feel. Popcorn is brought to the table as a snack instead of bread which I love. (Not that I wouldn't love bread too haha) On the first visit we ordered the nachos to share. I had the loaded gnocchi. I was impressed with both the nachos and the loaded gnocchi. The nachos were different from your average nachos..the good kind of different. Loved the creamy sauce drizzled on top and the hint of lime I tasted. Loaded gnocchi was rich and filling. On my second visit I had steak with the mushroom sauce. There were three different choices for sauce if I remember correctly. Didn't love the mushroom sauce (just a matter of preference) but the steak was tender. I'll definitely be back! read more

I can't believe that after having to rebuild, they made no effort at all to cut down on the noise in this place. We were there at 6:30 and in a room that was not too busy. It filled quickly and and the noise was astounding. As our food was not yet served we requested to take it with us. It was awful. No effort to make it appear presentable. My Cobb salad was served without cutting the egg and the avacado was more like guacamole servings small considering the cost. Can't recommend and won't be returning read more

Menu had many choices so we ordered hamburgers. Was told the soup of the day was chicken noodle but someone came out and said that the soup of the day was tomato so no big deal. Was told we would get a salad with our meal. The hamburgers came out but only one hamburger and the other sandwich was a chicken so I had to wait for my swiss and mushroom hamburger. When mine came out my husband was already done eating. Realized after that we were supposed to get a salad but we by then we said "forget it". Food was ok but nothing to go back for especially when the place is very organized and no one knows what they are doing it appears. Don't think we will go back again. Very disappointed read more

I took my mother here for her birthday dinner before I took her to the movies. We had a 7:30 movie to get to and had sat down before 6:30. It was barely crowded so we figured we would order and have enough time. Well we didn't even order until 7:00 and had to rush through our meal to leave in time for the movies. Just was very disappointed in the service quality. Especially when my mom asked for a slice of bread to go with her clam dish and the waiter said they had no bread, just popcorn. I came here for dinner on a Monday night. It was recommended by another in our group, who had come on a Thursday night and found it very good. On a Monday evening, it was quiet and not very busy at all. We were seated right away and quickly provided with drinks. Complimentary popcorn to munch on while we waited for our food (we didn't order appetizers). Our food was generally satisfactory. The steak was cooked properly and the soft shell crab sandwich was tasty. Sadly, my dish was the fried chicken and waffles, and it was surprisingly SPICY. Now, I can eat spicy food (and actually like some of my dishes with a "kick" to it), but there was something in this dish that was so spicy that I couldn't taste anything but fire/heat - and no amount of water seemed to help. I don't think it was supposed to be spicy - if it was, they should mark it on the menu. Service left something to be desired, particularly since it was a quiet evening. I'd still try this spot again - but hopefully, next time, I can actually taste something. read more

Great local tavern with a varied menu and a good selection of beer. The wings are deep fried then grilled which is a very nice touch. The hot sauce that came with the wings was spicy and tasty. Jambalaya for the main course was served in a shallow pan, a very nice presentation, and shows good flavor throughout.. Nice chunks of chicken, sausage and grilled shrimp. This has been one of my favorite places since they opened in 2015 and I was excited to see they reopened after several months closed due to a fire. Upon returning the atmosphere and staff were wonderful as always and the menu now has many new options. Overall the experience was positive. The only concern I have was with the buffalo bites I ordered. They tasted like they were not made fresh and had a ton of breading on them like a pre-packaged food item would. This is not reflective of the caliber of food they have always served. I'm just hoping with the new kitchen staff they are not cutting corners. My boyfriend ordered the pork and prawns app however and loved it. Also others around me seemed very happy with their orders. I will definitely be going back to try other menu items. read more

Visited here with my family during Quinnipiac's parents weekend. I had been here once before on a quiet weekday and the food was great. I made 7 p.m. reservations this time around, but my family was not seated until 7:30. We were given waters, but did not have a waitress take our drink orders until 20 minutes after that. We put in our meal orders at that time to try and speed things up. Around 8:15, the waitress came back saying she could not bring us our Caesar salads because they had run out of lettuce. She had also forgot one of our drinks which we chose not to mention since each request took so long. Our waitress was friendly, but she was clearly being overworked as she and one other woman appeared to be the only ones serving people. Our food finally came out around 8:30, an hour and a half after our reservation time. The food was good, but a quick dinner became a 2+ hour process that took up most of our night. The restaurant was busy, but not packed. I think if the place had a couple more waitresses/waiters then things would go a lot more smoothly, especially during a busy weekend. read more
