I met up with friends who live just a hop skip and a jump away from the new North Haven location. There is plenty of parking in the lot. I ordered a garden salad with Italian dressing. It was a good size and had a variety of veggies and what seemed like homemade croutons. I also ordered a chix Parm sub which was large. The bread was crunchy, the cutlets moist, the sauce very good and there was just the right amount of cheese. My friends loved their pizzas. Our waiter was very efficient and friendly. The restrooms were very clean. There is a bar area, but we were told no alcohol could be served until they received their liquor license. I did see a few people BYOB. The place was clean, and the menu has a great variety to choose from and the prices are reasonable. I would return again if in the area and give it a 3.5.

The North Haven location is deceivingly small. The majority of the building is the kitchen so the seating area is pretty small consisting of a bar along with a few high top tables and about half a dozen regular tables. I was disappointed in the flavor of the house dressing on the salad and the pane cotto had far more bread than escarole. The chicken parm and shrimp parm were unremarkable. I am happy they were finally able to reopen in some capacity and we will patronize again, in the future, to order pizza.

Great pizza. Close to equal to Frank Pepe's, Sally's and Modern in New Haven. Thin crust and delicious sauce and cheese. Sausage topping was wonderful. Service was slow but friendly. Ambiance was comfortable. Just a couple of beers on tap. Easy parking. No lines. Reasonable prices. Not far from Route 91.

I'm so glad Abate Apizza opened in North Haven. We used to have to go to Wooster Square for authentic pizza. This time around, I did takeout and the new location is convenient. On a Friday evening, however, the parking lot fills up quickly. There was a line inside, but since I pre-ordered, I barely had to wait. The staff members were polite and professional. I didn't get to see much of the dining room, where a lot of staff were busily running around. The waiting area was clean and spacious enough. Abate is located in a house with flags tastefully hung around the porch. There's a sense of pride associated with this business. I ordered a bar-style mashed potato pizza and a pepperoni calzone. Three of us shared the meal, which ended up being filling. The mashed potato on the pizza was creamy and the bacon crispy. The calzone was fresh baked, dripping with cheese and pepperonis. The price was decent at $37 for the small pizza and the calzone. I plan on returning another time to try out more dishes.

I went into the takeout counter and they had a special on slices, buy one get one free. I got just mozzarella slices. The pizza is a good pizza compared to others in the country but since you are located on Wooster St, compared to other New Haven Style pizza there are better ones so you might as well go down the street to some other ones.

First time trying Abate Pizza, North Haven. I usually drive 25 minutes, to Zuppardi's, Frisco's, Ernie's or Modern. We tried Abate's twice to be sure it's consistant, and the bacon. Mushroom/onion, pepperoni, or sausage pizzas were excellent! .

We made an outdoor reservation for Saturday night date night at Abate and were seated promptly. The menu is large and contains many Italian and seafood offerings in addition to pizza. When glancing around the outdoor patio, we noticed how popular the fried seafood entrees were. We decided to stick to pizza, we added sausage to the Connie Special and loved the combination of fresh spinach, ricotta, and roasted red peppers. The Greek salad was massive, definitely large enough to serve four people. To our liking our salad was topped with an abundance of feta cheese. Our waitress, Raven, was friendly and attentive. Overall we were pleased by our experience at Abate and were happy to be able to try another eatery on Wooster Street.

Solid food. The salad was great (loved the croutons), the bread was generous and hearty, and the pasta was delicious. I got the eggplant parmesan w/ linguini, and it was solid, but the real star of the show was the pizza. We did half vegetarian and half meat, and it filled 3 of my friends up with extras which went to me and another buddy. Wow. Crispy crust, delicious toppings. Nothing more to ask for. One of the low points was that it seemed a little understaffed. There was only one person working the front, and between three or four tables, one of us ended up missing a set of utensils. But otherwise it went well. We'll certainly be coming back for more pizza.

Plain pie, 1/2 onion (should have been mozzarella + onion)

There's about 8 booths- It's a bit on the small side but the food was fantastic. Hubby and I were born and raised in NYC. It's been so long we've had really good pizza. John and Steve brought out pie after pie. We had the plain, plain with grated cheese, tomato with fresh mozzarella, clam with bacon, mangia special, Stevie Gs apple pizza, mashed potato pizza. We brought in our homemade suppi and they put it on some of our pies. We also tried the eggplant Parmesan and garlic knots. The plain pies, mashed potato, and the mangia special were my favorites but really everything there was top notch. There is nothing that I wouldn't order again. The crust is nice and crunchy. Good char on it. Sauce was delicious - not sour like straight from a can. Toppings were better than I expected for a small pizza spot. Sausage was tasty. Mushrooms were fresh not tinned, fresh tomatoes and basil. Tons of clams on the pizza. Bacon was thick sliced and left almost whole. Eggplant was sliced thin. Generous with the toppings. Even better than their pizza- is their service. It was my first time meeting them and I felt like an old friend. They were so friendly, chatted with us, told us stories -- we really had a good time. The older gentleman who brought out the food and took away the empty trays was very thorough- checked in on us regularly. Mangia Apizza is easy to miss - connected to Vick's Cafe (really it's a bar). Stop in and grab a pizza. You won't be sorry. And if you want someone to talk your ears off - stop in and eat at a booth. I wish they were closer!!

And we sure found a good one in Hamden on Friday. We saw refrigerated cases full of pastas and raviolis, counters with trays of pizzas, showcases with trays of prepared foods like sausage and oeooers, eggplant rollatinis, and seafood marinara, a sandwich counter for cold cuts, and a baked goods counter. We narrowed our want list down to three very different items. We bought two slices of their sausage pizza, two garlic knots, and three eggplant rollatinis. The pizza was fantastic! Super thin crust, plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of cheese, a very good sauce and delicious sausage chunks. Oh, and the slices were enormous. We made a dinner out of the eggplant and garlic knots. The eggplant was sliced so thin, and was so soft and tender, it resembled lasagna noodles! The rollatinis were loaded with ricotta cheese and marinara sauce and it was a fantastic dish. We split the three rolls and let me tell ya, one and a half rolls were plenty for dinner. The garlic knots were ridiculously loaded with garlic, not teeny tiny shavings, but big hunks of garlic cloves. Needless to say, they were fantastic as well. Our total cost was $24.66, and Sapori threw in four complimentary slices of fresh Italian bread with our order. We really loved Sapori a lot.

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff

One 6 Three is an unusual name - it's a small and cozy spot with few tables and bar seating, set in a residential neighborhood. We tried the gluten free crust (available only in 12") American margherita pie and added mushrooms in half of it. The wood fired crust was well done, I really liked it. Lots of garlic, yum. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place? Maybe I need to try more pizza places :)
