Upon arrival with 20 minutes before closing although the dining area was empty, before I even got out of the car I have never seen so many people walk in then out of a place. These weren't delivery drivers they were regular people like me who called before closing. Very clean inside of course. The staff was very polite and even offered to carry my pie out to the car. Just so you know Amicis used to be my favorite but this past year, not sure if it's a change of ownership or the chef, but this place has gone downhill. A group of us ordered pizza to have for dinner (took a picture of the second one) and the crust is soggy and not crispy, everyone agreed there's no enough sauce, and the service is lacking even though they're not busy. I'm an Amicis regular and was excited to try the new Detroit style pizzas. I ordered 2 of them for pickup: a pepperoni and the SMOG. First, the quoted time was 15 minutes, they took 45 and were not even in the oven when I arrived. Second, both were far beyond well done, especially the SMOG which was totally burnt on the bottom and the top. I'm not talking char, I'm talking very, very burned. The pepperoni suffered most of its damage on the top. Cheese far beyond melted and lightly browned. Third, the pepperoni pizza looked like it had been thrown in the box. Cheese both under the pizza and off the sides in every direction onto the box. TLDR: VERY LATE, VERY BURNED, VERY SLOPPY. That's 65 bucks for 2 inedible pizza... I expect to hear from the owner/ manager through Yelp about refunding the money for these pizzas. A new product brought to market should be impeccable, not some prideless, burnt monstrosity. read more

The house sauce - Marinara is very watery and does not hold up too well with the meatballs. Overall - come on folks - you can do better! I ordered a chicken caesar salad, iced tea, and a flame roasted lemon chicken wings. I thought the chicken caesar salad was okay, I was not really a big fan of the caesar dressing. The ice tea I ordered was alright, I was expecting to get a sweet ice tea but it was fine since I just added the sugar packet that they provided on the table. I really enjoyed the flame roasted lemon chicken wings, I feel like you can't really mess up chicken wings. I was somewhat content what I ordered and my company was going to be paying for it anyways hehe. I felt like the service was okay and I felt like the person who took our order seemed a bit annoyed since we were a pretty big group (there were 10 of us). They were really nice to give us a free dessert since most of us haven't dined here before. This is my favorite pizza in the Bay Area. Well, I'm also a big fan of Arizmendi's. Which is interesting as they are very different kinds of pizza. Amici's comes closest to the NY style I grew up with back east. When I first moved to California I was frustrated that everything I tried that claimed to be NY style just didn't do it. **COVID EDITION** My cousin and were famished after the gym. So for our post workout meal, we decided to hit up Amici's, since we were in the area. We were able to dine in the restaurant, since there was no outdoor only dining restriction in place. We both ordered Lagunitas IPAs for our drinks. As for my post workout meal, I went with a medium margherita pizza with Beyond Meat sausage added to it. Our pizzas did take a little longer than usual to make, due to the restaurant handling a lot of to go orders. Once we got our pizzas, they were hot and fresh out the wood fire oven. I can never just eat here once when I am in town, I have to eat here atleast twice. Ambiance is great, and customer service is usually the best you can get. I always have a ceasar salad with chicken, warm bread on the side and my favorite is ice tea with lemon. I am not sure what it is with their tea but I am addicted. I also just recently found out they have to go cups!!! Did you know that? I have been going here on and off for about 9 years and I just found out, there are other salads and food that is great, my favorite pasta is the ravioli's with cheese, they melt in your mouth. Check them out during the week, they always have specials daily (I over heard) some days you can get a discount off your orders, food is always so fresh and if you want more, need additions and or want accomodations for your meals, they are always happy to help with a wonderful smile. read more

Their margherita is the rare one that has the tomatoes cut into little pieces rather than served in big slices. We also ordered a non-vegan cheese pizza - the Amici's combo with pepperoni, bacon, black olives, and mushrooms. This one was good, too! They use high-quality ingredients, and their sauce is zesty. My only complaint about Amici's is that the crust borders on overly crispy, almost like a cracker. I like there to be a little bit more chewiness / breadiness in my pizza crust.
